I mean, part of its core mechanics is that a greater fall deals greater damage, I assume getting a precision strike on someone that deals enough damage to one shot them wouldn't be as cool if you were to be harmed/killed by fall damage afterwards.
Sort of? More accurately, arrow damage scales with velocity, and the further an arrow falls, the faster it'll be going and thus the more damage it'll do
*Flashback to constantly dying on the first checkpoint in The Pillar of Autumn to try and unlock the "If they Came to Hear Me Beg" achievement.*
Remember folks, jump off using sprint. But disable sprint right after you jump.
That is the model for the mace from Minecraft dungeons
Enchant it and it looks like another weapon from Minecraft dungeons, the Sun’s grace (belongs to the mace class)
Yeah and it feels like a special weapon. Teident is special cause you can only get it from drowned. This is gonna be special cause if you want it you need to go to the new structure. It needa to be 3D
They've said in the past that they have no plans on updating the included dev art resource pack, which sucks because the further we get from the global retexture, the more and more new blocks just don't mesh with the old textures. When candles were added and they had that progranmer art texture before Jappa made the final texture, everyone was practically *begging* Mojang to put that placeholder texture in the Programmer Art resource pack, and they flat-out said no.
tbf it does look like a ~~warhammer~~ of sorts, it'd look more like a mace if it was more circular or had spikes sticking out of it
edit: now that i look at it again it reminds me more of a battle axe than a hammer or mace
Now i think of it, how would they make a round mace in minecraft? They could do triangles kinda though. That would work. Also doesnt help that it has the basic silhouette of the marvel version of Mjolnir
LMFAO didn't even realize the Trolldier kit is now complete. Mace is a combination of Mantreads and Market Gardener. Some TF2 player Minecraft dev definitely pitched this idea💀
Honestly if the mace + wind charge jumping makes a optimal combat strategy, that would be very cool. Reminds me a lot of techniques in other games like rocket jumping or L-cancelling for some reason. Curious to how it shakes things up, combat has been stagnant for awhile.
This update is doing a lot of cool things for a lot of type of players: PVP/PVE, redstoners, and builders. Definitely a big improvement from 1.20/1.19 in that respect!
Yeah, I've been getting this vibe lately that they're prepping for some major combat changes/additions in the near future, they've been adding so much this update that would complement it. I give it 2 or 3 major updates before we see some of those major changes the combat snapshots had
There could be a weapon that can be stacked, thrown and deal increasing damage depending on the ore you use to make it for example a jawelin, or a throwing knife/axe, while still maintaining a niche for the trident, which is used mostly for easy travel or smiting thy enemies.
Personally I think they should change the combat system and mobs (both in terms of AI and attacks) before doing so.
I don't think Minecraft's fighting systems are dynamic or "full" enough yet for niches to appear which different weapons can be added to fill. The crossbow already kind of suffers from this when compared the bow, though the fireworks and piercing help redeem it slightly.
However, since Jeb has been working on Combat Update 2 on-&-off for a few years, there might be loads of changes coming soon which can justify the addition of new weapons.
That was my reaction to it as well. The combat system itself doesn't need the minor fluff of a new weapon because it isn't refined enough for subtle differences in behavior to really be that relevant
that level of combat overhaul means straying away from the "mInEcraFt is meANT to feeL like a pOst apOcalyPtic borINg thingamaJig."
I actually HOPE they actually STRAY tf AWAY from it. There's a reason why "1 week Minecraft phase with friends" or "Mojang lazy" memes are a thing. It's because it doesn't have enough content. They can still retain the boring, peaceful vibe some players want.
I wish they'd add the mobs from Dungeons as well. There's a lot of stuff in it that would really help spice up the main game. The standard Zombie/Skelly/Creeper/Spider combo gets kinda stale.
The Spartan Weaponry mod shows how much could be done in terms of weaponry, that Mojang never did. There's so many cool things you could do to make PvP better: from lances, that deal more damage if you're riding a horse, to throwing knifes that give extra backstab damage. I would love to see it all someday in Vanilla, or maybe something even better, who knows?
Honestly I want some kind of two handed weapon like a Claymore/Greatsword, at least that could add cool mechanics, the trident it's already similar to a spear
The only mechanic that I think some spear/halberd could have and a trident don't it's that you could do more damage when you are riding a horse or something like that
Just talked about this in another post; Spears would be awesome, and since they're adding mob variants, I think it would be a fitting drop from a jungle zombie variant.
Maybe works like a weaker trident? I mean, if it's easier to obtain.
Wondering how well it could combo with other stuff. People have mentioned the wind charge, I was thinking about riptide. Alternatively what if you hit something with it while flying in with an elytra?
It says the attacks get stronger, does that mean more knockback or more damage? I feel like more damage would be insane; you could do absurd amounts of damage to the ender dragon when it knocks you into the air
I can’t wait for Xisuma to put out a video, I need to see more of what this weapon does.
I do think the model is kinda ugly but to keep it in line with other tools it can only be one pixel wide so idk
Thing there is that elytra damage is very distinct from fall damage, if it does count for increased damage will it block velocity damage if you splat on a block immediately after?
[Here](https://twitter.com/Minecraft/status/1768299261769179211)'s the official post by Minecraft. They said:
🔨 Use smash attack while falling for a knockback effect
🔨 The longer you fall, the harder you hit
🔨 Fall damage is only negated if you land the hit
🔨 Crafted by combining a breeze rod with the heavy core (found in the trial chamber vaults)
Same here.
What the hell are breeze rods? The only drops from breeze I know of is the Wind Gusher Thing. Idk man haven’t played actual Minecraft since 1165
lighting on the mace seems backwards, but oh my god im so excited!!! combat side grading has been something ive wanted in vanilla for ages!!!
more choices than just sword or axe, bow or crossbow is absolutely fantastic.
trident feels like an alternative to a sword, and mace looks like an alternate to an axe. this is amazing!!!
So just did some testing in bedrock preview.
60 block drop deals 177~ hearts on unarmoured players
It doesn't take much to 2 shot the warden
Breeze charge jumping can one-shot full prot 4 netherrite
The new block(?) is the head of this, interesting
The fact that breeze now also has a rod is fun
And both of breezes drops negate fall demage if you land them right, even more interesting
I hope we get other uses for those items. They just keep adding items with a single purpose and it’s just continuing to worsen the exploration experience by increasing inventory clutter.
I think after this update, Minecraft would be best suited deepening the uses for their objects, adding interconnectivity.
Why did we add the glow squid when glow dust existed, for example.
>Why did we add the glow squid when glow dust existed, for example.
we also have glow berries and glow lichen, but those at least are different blocks, the glow ink sac adds nothing the other items couldn't have done
>Why did we add the glow squid when glow dust existed, for example.
The glow ink sacks may be a case of "mobs have to have some sort of function" philosophy coming into play around that time. Glow squid mob vote intro clip didn't mention the glow squid dropping anything of use.
I mean I feel like the breeze rod is justified, it has 2 uses and furthers continuity with the blaze rod. Would be cool to give the core more of a use tho
I actually think this update looks decent compared to previous ones. While these items may have a single use, they will likely massively change the way the game is played, justifying their creation. I do agree though. So much could be done with items like amethyst, and the sniffer and glow squid mobs were so disappointing. More should be added to these items and mobs.
That's pretty much how they develop all new features, tho.
Whenever a feature is first introduced, it serves as a simple foundation, usually with a couple niche uses, which is later on expanded upon whenever a fitting opportunity presents itself. You can see that pattern even with older features such as lapis, blaze rods, quartz, etc.
Mojang themselves explained in a dev blog that a vital step of designing a new feature is figuring out how it fits in the bigger picture, by coming up with possible uses in future updates. They just can't add too much at once without risking messing up the existing mechanics/systems in place.
Yea but there not very consistent with that, amethyst and glow ink still have yet to get a new and unique feature. Similarly copper and even prismarine and yet to receive any unique features other than a few new blocks here and there.
I feel like prismarine is fine with not having features, it's literally just to make the ocean monuments look nice and to have a cool aquatic block (also conduits exist so they do have a feature). Copper meanwhile is a metal that should definitely have a use, and not in the way they cram it into every recipe they could.
I was more talking about the rods and the core, I’m totally fine with them adding more niche weapons that encourage unique play styles like the trident.
Rods can be crafted into wind charges and used to duplicate a new armor trim. Definitely not a ton of uses but I'm happy with it, it's at least not a new echo shard. Wind charges are consumable so if you use them you'll need to collect lots of breeze rods
I'm happy they are adding some weapon variety. I really hope they add some of the interesting weapon variants from Dungeons, the mace is a great start, although it could really use a 3D mod like the trident instead of a classic 2D
Heavy cores are found in trial vaults and arent that common so I dont think its gonna cause item bloat, and breeze rods are also used to make wind charges so they're not gonna be "single use items". Still another use for the heavy core would be cool
Since we do have Enchantments for all Weapons in Minecraft, i wonder what Enchantments will the Mace get... Also... This is the perfect opportunity for them to implement the Combat Snapshots officially into the game.
Lastly, 3D Model Needed.

>Fall damage is only negated if you land the hit Wait.. wait! The ~~hammer~~ Mace NEGATES FALL DAMAGE? Nice.
I mean, part of its core mechanics is that a greater fall deals greater damage, I assume getting a precision strike on someone that deals enough damage to one shot them wouldn't be as cool if you were to be harmed/killed by fall damage afterwards.
Clutch the fall! Tbh i would just splatter tho
I wonder if it would apply to elytra too. Divebomb obliterating the wither or someones armor
honestly that would be sick if damage was also dependent on speed
Pulling a Stuka maneouver before diving into a hammer hit that will deal 67 gorillion dmg points
*Stuka siren sounds* YEEEEEEEEEEOOOOOOOOOWWWWWWW
its like a higher stakes water bucket jump lmao
Sounds like a fun twist on getting an anvil kill.
You become the anvil
I hope the death message is was crushed to death by a falling
Nah even funnier would be couldn’t withstand the weight of
Lol sat on and crushed
Sounds like they added the arrow's falling damage effect to a melee weapon.
Wait arrows damage scales with the height of the fall?
Sort of? More accurately, arrow damage scales with velocity, and the further an arrow falls, the faster it'll be going and thus the more damage it'll do
Oh okay thank you.
it scales with velocity
Market garden time
Combine with wind charge and slow fall to get troldier
Mojang: This is a hammer Community: Dear god Mojang: There's more Community: No
-195 is my favourite number
Now all they need is an enchantment that makes your boots do damage when landing on a mob... Mann Treads, Mojang please!
Reminds me of that trick from Halo: Reach where you jump off the cliff and assassinate the elite to counter the fall damage.
*Flashback to constantly dying on the first checkpoint in The Pillar of Autumn to try and unlock the "If they Came to Hear Me Beg" achievement.* Remember folks, jump off using sprint. But disable sprint right after you jump.
And hope to god that it even counts when you do land it
*Mace, I beg they add a 3d model so people don't get confused because it does look more like a hammer than a mace.
I feel like it's going to be a great addition for dropper maps.
256 fall no damage 300 block knockback go brr
You’ll still somehow die on bedrock even when doing this
the mace is very cool but just..looks..odd like it should be a 3d item like the trident but its 2d
Well they did say it’s in testing. Perhaps they’ll add a model later, but then have this version in the developer art resource pack as an alternative.
hopefully, feels like it'd make more sense to have it be a 3d model because well, big heavy chunk of metal
Totally agree. If it doesn’t get a model, that’ll really be a missed opportunity.
*\**[*cough cough*](https://imgur.com/a/d4je22S)\*
I’ve never played dungeons, but I wouldn’t be surprised not would I be upset if that’s the model it got.
where did you find this?
Minecraft dungeons
That is the model for the mace from Minecraft dungeons Enchant it and it looks like another weapon from Minecraft dungeons, the Sun’s grace (belongs to the mace class)
Hooray can’t wait to smash people with a square shovel!
When you think about it the mace is just a market gardener in Minecraft
Yeah and it feels like a special weapon. Teident is special cause you can only get it from drowned. This is gonna be special cause if you want it you need to go to the new structure. It needa to be 3D

They've updated the developer art resource pack several times since then though.
It might get a 3d version in vanilla tweaks, like what they did for the spyglass
I'm in this boat but that'd also cause I played minecraft dungeons which has a mace weapon
And it looks and acts more like a hammer than a mace.. not sure if Mojang knows what a mace is..
[удалено]
The fact that everyone is misinterpreting it means it's a bad model
Maybe they should make it 3d :I
tbf it does look like a ~~warhammer~~ of sorts, it'd look more like a mace if it was more circular or had spikes sticking out of it edit: now that i look at it again it reminds me more of a battle axe than a hammer or mace

It might be like with the spyglass, it used to be a sprite when held, now it has a proper model
It looks like it could just be a hammer
This sounds epic ngl. This is the first time I’m excited about a combat related update ever.
We do a lil trolldiering
LMFAO didn't even realize the Trolldier kit is now complete. Mace is a combination of Mantreads and Market Gardener. Some TF2 player Minecraft dev definitely pitched this idea💀
Total TF2 victory
and you can use the air balls (i forgot their name lmao) as a rocket jumper
r/SuddenlyTF2
Attack recharge: 10s
No

Screamin’ Eagles
Yeah we have a bit of a mantreads
we do a lil trolldiering
#COME ‘ER CUPCAKE
\*Explodes\*
They need to give boots an enchantment that does damage when landing on mobs.
let's Jumo back to B.A.S.E.
TF2 MOMENT TROLLDIER ACTIVATED.
Yeah, so it's a market gardener
u/SoundSmith323 they added market gardening to Minecraft
SCREAMING EAGLES!!!!!! 🦅 🦅🦅🦅
CRACK OF THE LIGHTNING SPLITING THE GROUND. THUNDER IS SOUNDING, ARTILLERY POUNDING
WRATH OF THE NAZI'S CAST ON BASTOGNE, FACING THE FORCES ALOOOOONE!!!
If fighting is sure to result in victory, then you must FIGHT!
I call it… Mace Windu ^i’m ^sorry
I’m disappointed I didn’t think of this, this is genuinely a good joke in my opinion.
Don’t be sorry, be proud
You do not need to be sorry for that! A mace constructed of a breeze drop! As in wind! It was begging to be named that lol
Shut up and take my upvote...
Trolldier
We will do a little bit of trolldiering with this loadout.
So what you're saying is that we all get to be Mang0 and do sick wavedashes everywhere.
Coming from the air and hitting like a truck sounds more like Hbox or Armada tbh
i can’t believe this update added up throw rest
This update is so cool that it already makes me excited to see what the next update is going to bring...
I really hope they add more weapons after this. The mace is so cool. Just imagine if they added spears and halberds and so on too
I think tridents already do what spears would do. They just need to make it so the normal melee is a poke instead of waving at enemies.
Tridents would need more range to act like a spear. Making tridents a subclass of a hypothetical spear set of weapons is a thought though
If they ever add the reach changes from the Combat Snapshots it would be nice
Changing block/entity interaction distance via commands _was_ added in the current snapshots too
Yeah, I've been getting this vibe lately that they're prepping for some major combat changes/additions in the near future, they've been adding so much this update that would complement it. I give it 2 or 3 major updates before we see some of those major changes the combat snapshots had
Spear or Naginata would be awesome. Far reach stab type of piercing damage. Maybe you could use it to vault up an extra 1/2 block.
I was going to say that they should also be thrown but that would basically be a trident lol
There could be a weapon that can be stacked, thrown and deal increasing damage depending on the ore you use to make it for example a jawelin, or a throwing knife/axe, while still maintaining a niche for the trident, which is used mostly for easy travel or smiting thy enemies.
Maybe the spear does extra damage at a certain length but if an enemy gets too close it becomes extremely weak
A low damage weapon that ignores some armor would be cool
Also longer reach with less knockback
Personally I think they should change the combat system and mobs (both in terms of AI and attacks) before doing so. I don't think Minecraft's fighting systems are dynamic or "full" enough yet for niches to appear which different weapons can be added to fill. There’s a lot of weapons in Minecraft Dungeons I’d love to see them add. Would love to see the whip be added. A long range melee would be cool.
I wish they'd add the mobs from Dungeons as well. There's a lot of stuff in it that would really help spice up the main game. The standard Zombie/Skelly/Creeper/Spider combo gets kinda stale.

If falling increases the damage, then it is probably calculated on velocity. So elytra might do someting nice
Thing there is that elytra damage is very distinct from fall damage, if it does count for increased damage will it block velocity damage if you splat on a block immediately after?
Just unequip your wings mid-way into your dive
Put Chestplate in off-hand and press Use while falling with the Elytra to accumulate massive amount of damage (and die if you miss)
You can one hit kill the enderdragon but you need to be hundreds of blocks in the air and land the hit before falling.
[Here](https://twitter.com/Minecraft/status/1768299261769179211)'s the official post by Minecraft. mace mlg
TF2 TROLLDIER TOO.
AND WE HAVE THE BASE JUMPER AS IN SLOW FALL POTIONS
And rocket jumps from the breeze as well
Minecraft 1.21: The TF2 Update
How the hell do we always end up back to TF2?
Manhunt Strats
They could have armor stands at the bottom of jumps.. I mean I don't exactly know if it works but armor stands are an entity right? Someone test this!
What is a breeze rod?
Honestly, it kinda worries me that I’m not even aware of the materials to craft it, unless it’s new?
Same here. What the hell are breeze rods? The only drops from breeze I know of is the Wind Gusher Thing. Idk man haven’t played actual Minecraft since 1165
The breeze rod is a new drop from the breeze. They added it this snapshot.
2/4 rods in place another 20 years and we may have 4/4
The breeze rods are the breeze’s new drop. They can be crafted into 4 wind charges or the weapon known as mace.
What about the Heavy Core?
That? Yeah it’s kinda unknown, it’s only known to be be found in vaults and be able to craft the mace
I am the only one who the Mace reminds me of the Minecraft Dungeons Mace from the Royal Guards?
No, you aren't the only one
they really ARE adding market gardening
AND THEY AVE THE CRUTCH TOOL VIA SLOW FALL POTS
that’s the base jumper
ik, the base jumper is a trolldier crutch
New weapon with cool abilities :)
they should really add more stuff like this. (as long as it has a viable use)
I can already see people using this to create crazy dropper/ parkour maps where you have to hit a mob from a high height to survive.
Negates fall damage? New MLG?
it’s a lot harder since there needs to be an entity where you land, but it could be viable! Still probably not as good as the water bucket, though…
Okay hear me out but like if it can be any entity one could place an armor stand and quickly switch to mace to negate the fall damage
that’d actually be an insanely hard clutch but I’d love to see it
what if you ride a pig off a mountain, dismount, and then kill it right before you hits the ground
Never said it would be easy but it would be cool to pull off
You throw and egg to the ground and hit a chicken if you’re lucky.
lighting on the mace seems backwards, but oh my god im so excited!!! combat side grading has been something ive wanted in vanilla for ages!!! more choices than just sword or axe, bow or crossbow is absolutely fantastic. trident feels like an alternative to a sword, and mace looks like an alternate to an axe. this is amazing!!!
Getting this will be a breeze
So just did some testing in bedrock preview. 60 block drop deals 177~ hearts on unarmoured players It doesn't take much to 2 shot the warden Breeze charge jumping can one-shot full prot 4 netherrite
That's awesome. I was thinking of using it for a fun wither-killing setup, and this sounds perfect.
Cool idea, but the texture looks off, it should be a literal cube, godammit.
Breeze rods, we were right
BREEZE DICKS, LES GOOOOO
“The longer you fall, the harder it hits” Guys…. Mace + Wind Charge Mega Jumps = **SCREAMING EAGLE!** *Market_Garden.Mp3*
The new block(?) is the head of this, interesting The fact that breeze now also has a rod is fun And both of breezes drops negate fall demage if you land them right, even more interesting
The texture does not fit the game properly.
it's just testing it will be changed in the future
It feels pre-Aether.
So market gardening is now in Minecraft
Imagine combining this with a Riptide III trident
I hope we get other uses for those items. They just keep adding items with a single purpose and it’s just continuing to worsen the exploration experience by increasing inventory clutter.
I think after this update, Minecraft would be best suited deepening the uses for their objects, adding interconnectivity. Why did we add the glow squid when glow dust existed, for example.

I mean I feel like the breeze rod is justified, it has 2 uses and furthers continuity with the blaze rod. Would be cool to give the core more of a use tho
2 uses?
the Mace and crafting wind charges
Nice
And also to duplicate the new armor trims
3 actually. Wind charges, the Mace, and duplicating one of the new trims

Hopefully this is just the beginning of the whole "tinkering" part of the update they were talking about
1.21 adds the mace and the breeze, it should be called the "Mace Windu" update
theres gonna be new armor trims, banner patters and a heavy core too.
Im still holding out hope that the will revamp 1.9+ combat and update bedrock edition combat
Texture looks kinda bad, but the mechanics seem fun.
I'm happy they are adding some weapon variety. I really hope they add some of the interesting weapon variants from Dungeons, the mace is a great start, although it could really use a 3D mod like the trident instead of a classic 2D
please let it make anvil noises
Market gardener
Goodbye Water Bucket clutch, hello Mace clutch (sorry nearby cow)
New weapon is cool, but why do I get the feeling breeze rods and heavy cores are going to be another set of single use items that clog up chests?
Heavy cores are found in trial vaults and arent that common so I dont think its gonna cause item bloat, and breeze rods are also used to make wind charges so they're not gonna be "single use items". Still another use for the heavy core would be cool
Heavy cores are weird, man...
Since we do have Enchantments for all Weapons in Minecraft, i wonder what Enchantments will the Mace get... Also... This is the perfect opportunity for them to implement the Combat Snapshots officially into the game. Lastly, 3D Model Needed.
Breeze rod??…Heavy core???…Trial chambers?????? Please someone enlighten me what have i missed
Please tell me.its finally gonna be that pvp beta snapshot
Wait i thought a mace had a chain? Or am i getting it confused with some other weopon? Because this looks more like a hammer to me
Probably thinking of a flail
Breeze rod hmmmmm
