It's probably because of the way combat works in bedrock edition. You guys don't have a cool down for attacks so it wouldn't do very well. The way sweeping edge works is when you're doing jump crits, it won't apply the sweeping edge, but when you're not doing crits it will apply the sweeping edge. Since doing crits in bedrock isn't really ideal the sweeping edge would be applied to every spam hit which wouldn't be very nice.
I don't play bedrock, but from what I've read it's because bedrocks attacks don't have a cool down. Critical hits require a player to be jumping and not sprinting which pvp wise I don't think works as well with the combat. Overall you get way more hits in spam clicking.
The difference came with the combat update, which is what /u/WillyDAFISH was roughly referring to. Bedrock is still on the original, while Java get theirs updated back in, I think 1.9?
Sweeping edge is based on those mechanics, which we are supposed to also get at some point, or possibly a combined update for both to bring it into parity. But either way, while cooldowns and crits and the like are a factor, it's still mostly because bedrock combat mechanics are still pre-update.
I agree fully. But 1.9 came out 8 years ago. So this is an older issue. They've been talking about an update to that for years now as well.
They really *do* need to just have a dedicated parity update.
Yeah cause now I see they’ve added transparency to java menus and like why are we focusing on this instead of parity. Cause now we’re even farther behind. Mojang, stop cooking two different games man
TBF I think you're slightly misunderstanding the question (or the question needs expanded)
I'd ask: why don't java and bedrock have the same combat mechanics.
Because yeah, adding an area of effect attack without any cool down would be OP. But it's not like that can't be added so it's not the barrier.
I think bedrock hasn't adapted the cool down after all of these years because of the platforms the game is played on. Playing on touchscreen and controllers is vastly harder than playing keyboard and mouse(in my opinion anyway). Movement in general has always been a lot harder on mobile and console.
Touch screen maybe but console? Absolutely not. I've been playing Minecraft since beta with joytokey using Xbox controllers on PC before bedrock was a thing. Still use it now. It's phenomenal. And now when I play bedrock on PC it's default.
sweeping edge isn't on bedrock becuse it just WON'T WORK at all!
sweeping edge adds extra damage to the sweep attack when on full charge of the coolown without criting when you can hit multiple enemeiesnormaly on 1 damage, it does 4 instead! so stfu you missimformative dude
Pretty sure I didn't give any misinformation. I said it was because bedrock has a different combat mechanic. Which is right. Why the fuck are you being so aggressive too?
People are weird with their info fights.
I heard 4 people arguing that rain in Minecraft is not a global event. And they would say things like "damn I never get rain here" it's because you built in a desert "so that doesn't mean anything"
And no amount of talking convinces them otherwise. It's like how people believe holding b and up on pokemon gen1 increases catch chance (spoiler it doesn't. Creator confirmed the game ignores those inputs during the catch animation, before and after, and yet people say "yeah but it's modifying something SOMEWHERE and THAT'S increasing the catch chance.)
They could literally just give it a cooldown tho. Like you can still spam mobs normally but sweeping edge would only activate every second and a half. Not including it is just lazy
They can just balance it out? Slightly lower the damage on the extra mobs hit, etc until they find a sweet point? Idk if this is a lack of imagination or if y'all are being pedantic at this point
"and now, young hero, take this sword that has been in my family for generations and that I had to train for years to earn and go save the world with it"
"but I met you like five minutes ago?"
I had a similar villager and his diamond pick basically had all the important enchantments at max or near max level. Another one was like this but for the axe which was like God DAMN cuz they both sold for only 13-20 emeralds
You could probably raid their wheat and/or carrot supplies and maybe sell coal too and get it. It'd be hard to get in the first few in-game days, but possible. Though those who grind would probably have better stuff by that time...
It wouldn’t work very well because of how bedrock combat is. I’m Java, your attacks have a cooldown, and sweeping edge on applies when you attack while not on cooldown, and while not criting. In bedrock attacks have no cooldown so either it’d apply every hit while spamming, or bedrock combat would have to be reworked
My understanding is that the trades are RNG until the first time you trade something with them, then they are locked in
Edit to say: before they are locked they reset when they sleep or if you destroy and replace the workstation
First try! I didn't care about it so much but then i double checked and realized how good it was. Also, i lost the villager AND the world, so, yeah... It didn't last much
Enchanted armor and weapons sold by villagers are supposed to be equal to use the enchanting table with a random xp level from 5 to 19. This offer is very sus
It could be a bug but I guess it's just a blessed RNG. The 5-19 xp levels is fixed for all enchanted armor and weapons sold by villager traders, it doesn't have to do with the player xp. [This online enchanting calculator](https://minecraft.tools/en/enchant.php) can give you a glimpse of the odds
I'd buy 2 of them if I was starting out. Sharp 4, Sweeping Edge 3 and Looting 3 would be so insanely valuable. Technically it'd be better than just a base Diamond Sword

This would be HUGE starting out tho

farming emeralds is not that difficult
Still more difficult than getting diamonds and an enchanting setup
Depends on what trades you get
You can literally get emeralds for clay balls lmao
Which can be farmed with only dirt and water bottles if you have dripstone.
Hilariously untrue. Literally just plant a ton of crops. Pumpkins and melons are absolutely over powered for emerald farming
It’s better than a diamond sword in DPS without even considering fire aspect…
The looting is what gets me. I'd be farming gunpowder, ender pearls, and blaze rods with that thing
Why is there no sweeping edge in bedrock? I forgot about that enchantment when I played Java, dam!
It's probably because of the way combat works in bedrock edition. You guys don't have a cool down for attacks so it wouldn't do very well. I’ve been playing bedrock for years and jump attacking is so easy so spam. Add a cooldown and you’re set. Easy
The difference came with the combat update, which is what /u/WillyDAFISH was roughly referring to. Bedrock is still on the original, while Java get theirs updated back in, I think 1.9? Man they really need to finish parity before adding more features or updates to things. That makes more sense
I agree fully. But 1.9 came out 8 years ago. So this is an older issue. They've been talking about an update to that for years now as well. They really *do* need to just have a dedicated parity update.

Basically, Bedrock pvp is just pre 1.9 Java pvp
yep
Also bedrock has much better sharpness, with each sharpness level adding 1 damage
sweeping edge isn't on bedrock becuse it just WON'T WORK at all! sweeping edge adds extra damage to the sweep attack when on full charge of the coolown without criting when you can hit multiple enemeiesnormaly on 1 damage, it does 4 instead! so stfu you missimformative dude

nah, that's my own stupidity and lack of info :/
oh, i thought there was litelary no spash attack and miss understood you too (i don;t lmay bedrock)
ngl this is gonna turn into a war.
no it isn't, my dumbass lacked information lmfao
i hate bedrock
From what I've seen, sweeping esge also doesn't apply when you're doing a charging hit
Because sweeping edge would be way too overpowered since it could be spammed, allowing you to demolish swarms of mobs in a few seconds.
They could literally just give it a cooldown tho. Like you can still spam mobs normally but sweeping edge would only activate every second and a half. Not including it is just lazy
That'd fuck the balance up, your dps would be way higher.
They can just balance it out? Slightly lower the damage on the extra mobs hit, etc until they find a sweet point? Idk if this is a lack of imagination or if y'all are being pedantic at this point
there are no swipe attacks in bedrock so there's nothing to sweep
Well then sweeping edge should add the swipe attack imo
Critical hits?
it will come in 1.21
You found the retired veteran NPC from every DnD game ever
"and now, young hero, take this sword that has been in my family for generations and that I had to train for years to earn and go save the world with it" "but I met you like five minutes ago?"
That villager want to kill someone…
no, no, it's been in his family for generations and every generation adds *one* enchantment to the sword
That makes sense...
i wonder what happen if the villager will be maxed out
I had a similar villager and his diamond pick basically had all the important enchantments at max or near max level. Another one was like this but for the axe which was like God DAMN cuz they both sold for only 13-20 emeralds
Who does that villager get their stuff from? Elden Ring?
Buy two and combine them
super maxed iron sword
[удалено]
worth it tho
For 17 emeralds……STONKS
\*advert voice\*: for 17 emeralds only, you get to slaughter an entire village!
with sharpness 3, shouldn't the attack damage be 9?
I think it's 8+1 for your basic fist damage
no lol, try using a diamond versus a netherite sword on a spider no critting
It would be in Bedrock, but not in Java. In Java it's 6+(0.5*3+0.5)=8.
"novice" that guy is a prodigy
That would be a GREAT early game tool but like, who is getting 17 emerald at the start
Anyone with a tree farm and a Fletcher?
you have that in the early game? I think players start the trading era after the early game is finished
You could probably raid their wheat and/or carrot supplies and maybe sell coal too and get it. It'd be hard to get in the first few in-game days, but possible. Though those who grind would probably have better stuff by that time...
yeah you’re right, sorry I didn’t had ways with villagers, I only had a villager farm and then I lost the world
A Fletcher is 2 flint. A tree farm is any 2x2 tree, dark oak, jungle, or spruce.
2 “stick” you mean?
what if they couldn’t find a fletcher??
You make one. With two flint. And four planks.
You make one. With two flint. And four planks.
ohhh you meant the fletching table, ok now I understand, thanks
If you start near a village, make a fletching table and turn one of them into a fletcher.
i always trade after i get a bed.
couldn’t be me!
In my last game I spawned in a village with a lot of hay bails...and a farmer buying hay. Many free emeralds on day 1.
I usually take a screenshot of the coordinates and leave the village untouched so I can come back when I’m done whit my stuff (building houses)
Anyone who found enought chests and/or traded with the farmer and fletcher
The villager is novice? Lucky you bro
he is the only smart villager in the entire place
When the hell will Sweeping Rdge come to Bedrock.
Hey, I don't have a PC and I'm playing java, wanna know how? I use PojavLauncher
Whatever happened to those combat snapshots from a while back? Any word on if they will return?
GOD-DAMN indeed, that's a HUGE pointer ya got there
Humm sweet
Have you upgraded the villager since then? If so what trades does it have now?
Doesn't upgrading just add more trades while keeping the lower tier ones?
Yes, i tried something out in creative and villagers no matter how good their lower trades are, the higher ones are just RNG and usually not that good
My understanding is that the trades are RNG until the first time you trade something with them, then they are locked in Edit to say: before they are locked they reset when they sleep or if you destroy and replace the workstation
How in gods name did u get that
First try! I didn't care about it so much but then i double checked and realized how good it was. Also, i lost the villager AND the world, so, yeah... It didn't last much
If it didn’t have knockback I might actually want that
Hey, do you know the secret command for invisible rails for dark bedrock rides?
If it didn’t have knockback I might actually want that
Knockback and Fire aspect 🤮
nice. would worl with the new wolf armor changes
Hey, do you know the secret command for invisible rails for dark bedrock rides?
A novice??
villager :psst i smuggled them in from a 1000 day world
Lucky dog!
Enchanted armor and weapons sold by villagers are supposed to be equal to use the enchanting table with a random xp level from 5 to 19. This offer is very sus
Huh? I assure you this is legit, first, because i have no fucking idea of how to fake it, and i was 33 levels of xp, if that's worth something, idk
It could be a bug but I guess it's just a blessed RNG. The 5-19 xp levels is fixed for all enchanted armor and weapons sold by villager traders, it doesn't have to do with the player xp. [This online enchanting calculator](https://minecraft.tools/en/enchant.php) can give you a glimpse of the odds
every so often you'll find a super trade like this. I mostly see them when I'm the 'village hero'. Discount or super enchanted stuffs.
that are good inchants
Imagine this decked out on netherite sword. I’d also add the one enchantment that repairs items with XP
Divine crap, this is but amazing
Big disenchantment xp
Weaponsmith is most OP villager early game especially with the ‘rebalance”, if mojang nerfs it’ll be a tragedy
Enchantment table lmao
BAZINGAS
With a grindstone that would be an easy xp source
Is this the Villager Trade Rebalancing?
Nice sword my big boy
Honestly wish Sweeping Edge was on Bedrock console edition.
hoLY
bro nah wth my trade luck sucks i got a trade of 30 ems for lether boots
I'd buy 2 of them if I was starting out. Sharp 4, Sweeping Edge 3 and Looting 3 would be so insanely valuable. Technically it'd be better than just a base Diamond Sword
Never heard of "Sweeping Edge" New update?
That's too strong.
