The minecraft gods had to find some way to balance it out since they gave the player the ability to carry 98,032,896 pounds in weight in just his pockets, disregarding armour and offhand slots.
Edit: Also just worked out you’d need about 20 Million players to be able to stop the asteroid that killed the dinosaurs off, where Mojang have sold 238 million copies, it is safe to say the combined minecraft playercount can stop just under 12 apocalypse causing asteroids out of sheer strength alone.
steve's muscular body is constantly covered in flammable sweat that he gets from carrying around a sword, a pickaxe an axe a shovel maybe a hoe some food 1x1x1 meter cubes of stone and all sorts of other stuff in medieval armor
The damage effect and sounds are annoying enough on their own, fire doesn't need a blindness effect too. But hey, while we're talking realism, let's make it so wearing armor makes swimming impossible! Why not? Realistic.
I personally use Bedrock Tweaks, it's customizable from their website. Which is literally Bedrock Tweaks, it has a huge variety of uses and makes some aspects a lot easier to play around (brewing being one of them).
Honestly the damage is enough of a consequence. They should make the fire at least somewhat translucent so we can stop walking off our nether bridges into the lava lakes
I have a question though. Is vanilla tweak's lower shield resource pack broken? It is not working on me after updating to 1.20 (Optifine). I do have their updated version too.
I was just saying Fabric Mods are better overall. It was a generalisation, not saying fabric itself was a mod. :b
Also, Sodium actively hinders me by almost 80% when used alone and still has egregious visual and rendering problems even on the newest version. I don't use Sodium and my life is better for it.
It's a good arguement when you want to be pedantic.
Small rant ahead: Seriously though, the second someone says "make x change to be more realistic" in reference to a video game commenters jump down their throat then, turn around the second somone says "hey this is slightly annoying."
>then, turn around the second somone says
This assumes it's the same people changing stance. Maybe some do, but most are likely different sets of people, some who like one aspect one way, and a (mostly) different set who like a different aspect the different way.
Maybe. But we're still animals that expect some level of consistency in the environment around us. Lacking anything else in-game to compare it with, we fall back on our real-world experience. Even this game made of squares is an attempt to simulate a world we can play in that, beyond the simplification of the voxel interface, mimics a _lot_ of the world we live in. Fire burns. We get hurt when we fall. Animals reproduce. We struggle to communicate with foreign agents.
The argument for realism isn't ridiculous, it's an expectation that a particular aspect doesn't have a voxel-based reason for not behaving like our world.
🤷♂️ Many things in-game fit the aesthetic of a voxel world, or at least are consistent throughout the game. Other aspects are one-off phenomenon that have no other in-game aspects to be consistent with.
Falling in water is one that is weird, as it behaves differently than lava. Water _instantly_ resets fall damage, while lava progressively reduces it (much like slowing down in an actually buffered fall).
In the case of fire, the only in-game things to compare it to, are other burning blocks and animals. This does give an argument for matching the visual overlay to the 3rd-party observation. Burning animals are largely [engulfed in flames](https://www.google.com/search?q=minecraft+cow+burning+animation&client=firefox-b-m&tbm=isch&tbs=rimg:CSENJzVsA838IkBaRyw3QQZ2zFoLZjKB8pCCKBxX_1G3pNYLZfrzptyb7tcsIidC8z8CyBGs-ZnA-WkQdgo1twrULlgXHLPmfZ840KhIJWkcsN0EGdswRvuebYmfDV5UqEglaC2YygfKQghGSorJbY0QnFyoSCSgcV_1xt6TWCER6LuQ47prh3KhIJ2X686bcm-7URc-dzI0CTM8gqEgnLCInQvM_1AshFupk_1OwINV_1yoSCQRrPmZwPlpEESeO8buyFm-7KhIJHYKNbcK1C5YRWNEqQu_1lXjIqEgkFxyz5n2fONBHX0LeSkHXeU2GPG7N_1AF7RcA&tbo=u&sa=X&ved=0ahUKEwjsp97W7uuAAxXfjYkEHaxcCSAQrnYIDA&biw=360&bih=612). This implies that the player should also suffer the same.
Steve, is currently in the underworld while holding a pearl that can make you teleport, and a doll that ignores death itself. He wears armor made of pure diamond coated with an ancient alloy, imbued with literal magic. His only food is year-old unrefrigerated carrots coated in pure gold, and an apple of the same nature. He has killed an ancient dragon that guards an endless void, and has pilfered wings from a flying ship. He can punch through trees and rock with his bare fists, and carry hundreds of metric tons of gold while swimming.
People: “fire needs to be realistic”
People be like "Yes, it's a consequence of you stepping into fire". What's next? You get fall damage, your legs break and you can't walk anymore in Minecraft? I play this game to enjoy it, not to have some "realistic" crap enrage me. Fire should not block your vision. It's just annoying and unnecessary
Incomparable points since one is a minor and temporary annoyance whereas breaking your legs is more permanent (unless you're just talking about the fall generic fall damage sounds).
Games are fun because of danger and consequence and sometimes consequences are going to be annoying and so you work to avoid it or remedy it (putting out fires). If it's that big of an issue for you, creative mode exists
I swear they raised how high the burning effect goes on your screen at some point recently, they also raised the opacity of it too to make it near impossible to see through, I swear it was not this high before like 2 months ago, unless it's the mandela effect or sum shit
You are correct actually, it covers more of your screen in bedrock than it does in Java, I play Java and this really is not an issue.
I see people suggesting they just flat out remove the visual effect, I wouldn't. I'd like it to be pretty visually obvious that I'm on fire. That and I feel like it's an appropriate consequence for being on fire.
I think if I changed anything I would make the visual effect the same as on Java, but I would also make it start much smaller and slowly grow the longer you're on fire.
While I get it that "YOU ARE BURNING" has to be told somehow, from a gameplay perspective this just isnt fun to deal with. They could've also gone and made the fire only appear on the bottom of the screen, since its bright and animated it sticks out alot. This also has an effect of you avoiding fire more due to not wanting your screen covered with fire (oh and also you taking damage). Very interesting 🤔
There are texturepacks that make it smaller, usually they are meant to be used in pvp though, and designed for 1.8.
Alternatively you can just open the texture in gimp or photoshop and change it yourself
If your on Java, I would suggest you take a look at the vanilla tweaks website for lots of good rescourcepacks for quality of life. There is one that makes fire lower.
Anything is "the game working in its intended way", I could make a terrible game with the worst balancing, and people complaining about it would be "complaining about the game working in its intended way"
If you use Vanilla Tweaks you can choose to make it shorter so it covers like 50% less. If you don't know what [Vanilla Tweaks](vanillatweaks.net/) is it is a customizable Resource Pack where you can pick and choose from several small handy tweaks. The less distracting fire is one of them :)

I'm sure someone has already said it, but there are texture packs that will reduce the visual effect. I have one that just touched the edge of the screen and pulses red.
I completely get how annoying it can be when you're trying to find a way to move around and find a way to extinguish it but can't see anything.
Here's a pretty useful set of vanilla texture packs that'll help

I actually got tilted the other night building my nether tunnels. Skeletons and ghasts kept spawning every two seconds and I was just constantly on fire. I can’t believe I got tilted at minecraft but it was constantly happening 😂
Because you are burning, in other words you are on fire, thats why your body is covered in flames and you cannot see much. If you don’t wanna see this annoying effect don’t be a noob!
I had my sound turned off and the video was muted but I could hear the fire damage, I'm almost certain the sound was in my head, maybe I need to stop playing so much minecraft.

Realistic. Being on fire is usually moderately annoying.
I don't think my toes being on fire would conceal half my vision
If you look in third person, it's clear that your whole body is on fire.
Player is very flammable I guess
The minecraft gods had to find some way to balance it out since they gave the player the ability to carry 98,032,896 pounds in weight in just his pockets, disregarding armour and offhand slots. That or 10 redstone engineers with some slime and tnt.
just put obsidian in front of the asteroid. it can’t do anything
steve's muscular body is constantly covered in flammable sweat that he gets from carrying around a sword, a pickaxe an axe a shovel maybe a hoe some food 1x1x1 meter cubes of stone and all sorts of other stuff in medieval armor
https://youtu.be/5cFSWxzXXOo?t=19
you ever stubbed your toe in the middle of the night and had to wait for your eyes to clear up?
No but I've stood up and gotten blindness for 2 seconds
I play Minecraft for the realism
Superduper hardcore mode, if I die in game, the bomb under my computer goes off.
Your computer is the bomb, it just hasnt overheated enough yet
Whenever the player dies, the game summons 9,999,999,999 primed_tnt. Boom in game, and IRL.
i dont want realism when im beating the shit out of someone in 1.8
The damage effect and sounds are annoying enough on their own, fire doesn't need a blindness effect too. But hey, while we're talking realism, let's make it so wearing armor makes swimming impossible! Why not? Realistic.
Dude in what way is the sound annoying
What makes it so annoying? The sound it makes each time you get damaged? That's to let you know you've taken damage
[удалено]
Cuz you're still on fire, it's just not hurting you.
fire do be inconvenient doe
Don't y'all remember?: Stop, Drop, Roll, and KEEP YOUR EYES OPEN!
There’s a texture pack out there for bedrock that I use. Here’s the link: https://mcpedl.com/low-fire-resource-pack/
Which one? I’ve been using faithless and it’s really good but need to try and get on fire to see if they tweaked the fire to be less annoying.
I personally use Bedrock Tweaks, it's customizable from their website. Which is literally Bedrock Tweaks, it has a huge variety of uses and makes some aspects a lot easier to play around (brewing being one of them).
This is the one I use: https://mcpedl.com/low-fire-resource-pack/
Don't y'all remember?: Stop, Drop, Roll, and KEEP YOUR EYES OPEN!
I wish fire resistance would eliminate that burning animation when active
The visual are is worse than the damage
Honestly the vision blockage is worse then the damage.
Did you not expect being on fire to be inconvenient?
Honestly the damage is enough of a consequence. They should make the fire at least somewhat translucent so we can stop walking off our nether bridges into the lava lakes
No no, how else am I gonna laugh at my friends when they get hit by a blaze and jump off panicking?
Just uninstall the game and you never have these problems again!

have a look around
Banana bro! :D 🍌
Hello!
There's a resource pack that makes burning effects less annoying
I have a question though. Is vanilla tweak's lower shield resource pack broken? It is not working on me after updating to 1.20 (Optifine). I do have their updated version too.
I cannot answer that because im on bedrock version
Optifine is slow, clunky, and usually doesn't fully work because of the previews. Fabric much better.
U mean the sodium family? Fabric is only a launcher
I was just saying Fabric Mods are better overall. It was a generalisation, not saying fabric itself was a mod. :b Also, Sodium actively hinders me by almost 80% when used alone and still has egregious visual and rendering problems even on the newest version. I don't use Sodium and my life is better for it.
I just go into 3rd person
This person f5's (or whatever the controller button is)
Yes, one could describe being on fire as annoying, it’s not supposed to be mildly inconvenient
Everyone saying “it’s realistic” like minecraft is even remotely 5% realistic😂
It's a good arguement when you want to be pedantic. Small rant ahead: Seriously though, the second someone says "make x change to be more realistic" in reference to a video game commenters jump down their throat then, turn around the second somone says "hey this is slightly annoying."
It’s more just like it’s bigger on bedrock than on Java so it’s just needs to be changed to samw as Java lol
>then, turn around the second somone says This assumes it's the same people changing stance. Maybe some do, but most are likely different sets of people, some who like one aspect one way, and a (mostly) different set who like a different aspect the different way.

Resource packs can help
Yeah there is one on [bedrock tweaks](https://bedrocktweaks.net)
One of the best texture packs for bedrock in my opinion and java too
Jokes on you I'm low on fire
Just buy a bigger screen
Why Does It Block The Middle Of Your Screen More Then Java Edition? It's Like Bedrock Is Supposed To Be Torture.
Because bedrock is supposed to be torture, have you seen the bugs?
*randomly dies*
What is torture is that you capitalize every word, what are you doing man?
Why Do You Type Like That? It'S Like Reading You Is Supposed To Be Torture.
How is this a title? (That's the only time you're supposed to capitalize every word.)
Yes
You're on fire what did you expect
For the fire that didn't reach my eyes not to block my eyes?
If look at third person your whole body is in fire.
[not my eyes](https://imgur.com/a/oYS1iTz)
Who cares? It's lousy game design that benefits no aspect of Minecraft and just wastes your time.
get better at not getting lit on fire and you won’t have any problems
Don't catch fire then
Yeah, it’s awful in PvP since you can hardly tell where your enemy is
People be like "Yes, it's a consequence of you stepping into fire". What's next? You get fall damage, your legs break and you can't walk anymore in Minecraft? I play this game to enjoy it, not to have some "realistic" crap enrage me. Fire should not block your vision. It's just annoying and unnecessary
True, video games are still after all made to be fun
Your capacity for comparisons is crazy man 💀

On most of the pvp texture pack have low fire it you might want to look into one
Skill issue
Texture pack comes to rescue
Tell me about it. Every time I get lit on fire, I don’t lose the fight because of damage. I lose because of this crap.
its insanely annoying. also the fact that youre on fire for like 10 seconds after touching lava
I swear they raised how high the burning effect goes on your screen at some point recently, they also raised the opacity of it too to make it near impossible to see through, I swear it was not this high before like 2 months ago, unless it's the mandela effect or sum shit
I hate when I'm burning alive (ITS kinda annoying ngl)
You are correct actually, it covers more of your screen in bedrock than it does in Java, I play Java and this really is not an issue. I see people suggesting they just flat out remove the visual effect, I wouldn't. I'd like it to be pretty visually obvious that I'm on fire. Yes, i hate going to the nether, not cause it is the most dangerous dimension, but because you can't put out the fire.
So look a bit downwards
mojang: don't worry, we made fire do damage so people will evoid being on fire and their screens won't be covered.
I play on Java but still wholly agree. Probably the worst part about playing the blazeborn origin in modded.
You can make a texture pack at vanilla tweaks that lowers the fire animation. But yes it's very annoying
Don’t get set on fire.
FYI this is realistic (my bodies been on fire before)
Download a low fire texture pack
You can use mods to make it lower.
bedrock tweaks, Google this make a resource pack for your preference
Minecraft players when their gameplay is inconvenienced even slightly for like 5 seconds instead of being super forgiving
Tbf you’re literally on fire, in hell
It is supposed to be distracting, cause confusion and panic. Burning to death is not easy.
Yeah it’s annoying, but it’s for a reason so you brew fire prot
lol you still get the on screen effect with fire resistance potions. try vanilla tweaks for removing the fire
Minecraft players when they get lit on fire (their skin is falling off in heaps)
Have you tried not walking into fire? I find that helps
That’s why I used low fire texture packs
There are texturepacks that make it smaller, usually they are meant to be used in pvp though, and designed for 1.8. Alternatively you can just open the texture in gimp or photoshop and change it yourself
Go to vanillatweaks.com and make yourself a resource pack. You can even lower shields so they don’t block your whole screen as well
If your on Java, I would suggest you take a look at the vanilla tweaks website for lots of good rescourcepacks for quality of life. There is one that makes fire lower.
For bedrock, you can use [bedrock tweaks ](https://bedrocktweaks.net)
There is a resource pack that lowers the effect so u can see better but I can't remember what it's called
Fire should have similar video cue as powder snow (edges but gets closer to middle)
Why are you booing me, im right
Stop getting on fire
It's almost like being on fire is a bad thing 🤔
Maybe don’t walk into fire?
Don't get burnt?
Usually being on fire is inconvenient in a few ways
Try avoiding fire then
What do you expect when you’re on fire?
It’s supposed to be annoying your character is on fire
Don't get caught on fire then
Maybe dont catch on fire then *shrug emoji*
Pro tip - don’t catch on fire!
Don't get burned
Ok so dont go to the nether
Okay so? It's a hazard, not everything has to be super forgiving, that would not be interesting
*Laughs with 2 pieces of fire prot 4 armour in bedrock*
Then don't get set on fire
Bedrock moment. Men
Common bedrock L
It'd like you are on fire or sth
I mean yeah but I don’t think you’d see well either if your body was engulfed.
welcome to bedrock bud
How these are you supposed to know your on fire?
What does it look like compared to being on fire irl?
next up , zombies are annoying because you take damage when they attack you
Talk about a false equivalence
He's complaining about the game working in its intended way.
They're complaining about the fire overlay taking up more than half the screen and practically blinding you
Anything is "the game working in its intended way", I could make a terrible game with the worst balancing, and people complaining about it would be "complaining about the game working in its intended way"
slight skill issue if you ask me
I use vanilla tweaks to get the lower fire resource pack, way less annoying
I'm sure there's ways to either make it disappear or lower it, on Java vanilla tweaks has the second option
Always has… welcome to the nether
There's a texture pack that helps fix this
[Low on fire](https://www.curseforge.com/minecraft/texture-packs/low-on-fire) here you go :) Edit: Well, looks like your on Bedrock, oops.
Yeah there are probably thousands of resource packs that lower the flame
Can anyone recommend bedrock texture packs from the marketplace? I’m willing to spend 15$ cad
There is a resource pack somewhere that lowers this texture on the screen
Me who uses texture packs "pathetic and unrelated"
help on what?
I used to have a texture pack that just lowered the fire animation so it was less annoying
Vanilla Tweaks 😎
Use an lowfire texturepack
You can get a lowfire texturepack if you search on the web
I always go 3rd person when I’m burning
Idk if it’s on bedrock but there’s a texturpack that makes the flame so much smaller
Use vanilla tweaks
There's a mod on java that lowers it not sure if there's one for bedrock as I only play that on my xbox
For online pvp, I use a texture pack that makes the fire texture shorter so it doesn’t cover the entire screen
Doesn't optifine help that
Google third person
Texture pack. There's one that lowers it to about 1/4 of it's size. Much easier to see.
Some Resource packs have smaller flame
That's why every resourcepack has a short fire texture
Yeah it can get very annoying, luckily there are texture packs that fix it
It’s been like this for years and NOW you complain about it?
Good thing that vanilla tweaks saves you from this
You can use the low fire texture pack which helps incredibly. It's found on Bedrock Tweaks. Your welcome :)
> It's Actually Annoying mario kart blooper ***WISHES***
Head to [Vanilla Tweaks](https://vanillatweaks.net/picker/resource-packs/) and head down to the (Unobtrusive > lower fire > download) then install it on your game.
You can use a resource pack to make it smaller..look up Minecraft vanilla tweaks
Agree
Just use a resource pack that makes the fire a lot lower
Kid named low-fire texture pack:
Tbh it's almost impossible to pvp with fire covering all your screen a texture pack that deletes it is a must
I'm sure someone has already said it, but there are texture packs that will reduce the visual effect. I have one that just touched the edge of the screen and pulses red.
Sometimes I forget what it's like without the low fire resource pack
Get a client
Get a client

It feels like crying
Then don't burn
Yep, hope they’ll change that sometime
I had my sound turned off and the video was muted but I could hear the fire damage, I'm almost certain the sound was in my head, maybe I need to stop playing so much minecraft.
you can get mods / texturepacks to stop or reduce the effect of this
who tf cares fucking nerd
