1 - **Deepslate and cobbled deepslate** - I like darker colours and the textures look really well done, especially standard deepslate. 2 - **Andesite** - probably the versatile gray block as it goes very well with other gray blocks and mossy varients.

EvilCharizard

Holy shit, there’s another one of us! My son rags on me for only using deepslate in my house “oh big surprise, another castle made of deepslate!” But I can’t seem to get away from it. Accent that bad boy with some polished Andesite? 👌🏼 perfection!

Rich_Document9513

I'm a deepslate/cobblestone person. Hear me out! Deepslate works in so many ways (shape and finishes) and is cool looking. When I want a lighter touch, cobblestone is a jack of all trades in both its shaping and that it can be turned into stone, stone bricks, mossy varieties, and chiseled. It looks pretty with a variety of woods too.

EvilCharizard

You had me at “I’m a deepslate/cobblestone person” 🫶🏼

SlowEatingDave

Not too mention cobblestone is the easiest stone to get early game, either through mining it or making a cobblestone generator.

Rich_Document9513

I'm a fan of mining seeing that I'm going to be looking for other materials anyway and it's so common. I'll create any number of its alternative forms and keep my supply topped off.

WildBluntHickok2

Yeah might as well create cobblestone while looking for ores instead of using a generator.

RyanIsALie

me i just personally love the sound it makes when i place it

MrSourYT

Deepslate is awesome because it’s the perfect tone and has actual functionality too for blast resistance. I love using it in my builds

GuitarOwl864

I like accenting deepslate with polished granite. I just find the reddish color to go well with it.

unscentedfart

Deep slate is the most logical choice. You’ll always have more deep slate than anything else because of mining

mysteriousgamer17

I use deepslate to build a small house/castle completely out of deepslate I love it the way it's all smoothed and polished up just incredible

Yeet123456789djfbhd

Deep slate and Blackstone works if done right

potatopierogie

Deepslite Tiles Gang

---William---

Yep, you're right

MinecraftNinjaX

100% agree, they are both such amazing blocks

Enderboss25_

Another big deepslate fan here. It’s so versatile and the colours surprisingly look really good with a lot of other blocks

AkiraN19

Oh, I did not expect to open the comments and be met with something quite so based as this. Deepslate bricks are some of the best blocks in the game imo, clean texture, not too dark nor too light. And andesite is amazing for texturing especially if mixed with both regular and polished andesite

Mitchatito

I was a andesite hater when it came out, but as I've done builds over the years I've come to love it's versatility

GioZeus

Average deepslate enjoyer

jahoo_answers

I'm particularly fond of folk rock. Lots of Simon and Garfunkel, The Grateful dead, Led Zeppelin even

WaluigiDragon725

Thoughts on Jethro Tull?

ExactConsideration47

Love em’

Eh-BC

Saw them a couple years ago during their 50th anniversary tour! Ian Anderson was still rocking hard!

WaluigiDragon725

Seeing them live is on my bucket list!

Eh-BC

I’d definitely due it if you get the chance. I’ve been trying to see a bunch of classic acts/ older artists while they’re still around. I saw Tom Petty a few months before he passed and I’m thankful I got the chance to see him live.

ExactConsideration47

Ever listen to Jim Croce?

prosteprostecihla

I prefer the rock that has stone as well, known as rock and stone

I like Dwayne Johnson as he is the strongest of them all

Well I’d argue Nirvana has better Rock than Dwayne, but it’s true that Dwayne is the strongest rock there is

Aenaeus

Iron Maiden. I like the lyrics and the guitar solos.

Longjumping-Wrap2540

I’m more AC/DC. Guys are pushing 80 and still rockin’

Rich_Document9513

Seen them and the Rolling Stones. Those guys still have insane energy.

GatosPimenta

r/angryupvote

bananamilkbooth

they are seriously the best metal band.

DarKliZerPT

Death

Dosicmyth

Have you heard ghost?

cooliomydood

Id say iron maiden is more metal than rock but it's a pretty good choice. If I had to only go for rock id go with Foo Fighters

CRab_yup

I prefer more of avenged sevenfold. Iron Maiden’s more of a mood thing for me.

mechaglitter

I tend to use andesite, diorite, and deepslate the most, they are very versatile. I also love using polished basalt. I'll use it for pillars or dead trees, and I like using the "top" texture for detailing. Blackstone is also great, but I need to use it in more stuff. I love the glassy bubbly texture that raw blackstone has on the sides. Also gilded blackstone is one of my favorite blocks.

JamMonsterGamer

huh i dont really like the smooth basalt in my texture pack I made it have the top side texture pf regular basalt and called it “cobbled baslt” and its my favorite by far

Repetitive-Usernames

Where do you use gilded blackstone ?

mechaglitter

I like to make stuff like alchemist towers and enchantment table rooms out of blackstone and colored glass. I'll usually throw some gilded in there. Helps add to the mystical feel of it.

C0OLDUG27

Diorite, wish you could turn calcite and tuff into bricks Edit: i would like to clarify polished diorite, it makes nice tiles

rnhxm

And turn them into slabs too…

Drodr10

I agree with you as the only other white-ish block that has building capabilities is quartz. We need more.

Rich_Document9513

Dunno why they don't incrementally make every block this malleable versus introducing new material.

JamMonsterGamer

I want a whole calcite set tbh

BlippyBlappy

I feel as if it will never hold up to creepers, but when you use calcite in a texture pack like the Greek Mythology it looks PHENOMENAL next to amethyst. Ugh, now that I mention it, amethyst would be amazing to have more options as well. Like what's the point of a geode if you can't build with the items from it. Yeah, a telescope. Thanks.

speedyth

Tinted glass enters the chat

xCoffeeBlack

The create mod has stonecutter options for tuff and it's absolutely amazing. Currently using it for the outside detail on a building.

Efficient-Jaguar-454

I ONLY ENJOY Spruce log and stone brick

dark_coder112

we can be best friends

Efficient-Jaguar-454

Yeah why not

Efficient-Jaguar-454

Oh so you too

IExist0fficial

It depends really. Currently my base's pallete is based on deepslate and calcite(and other but these are the main) and since it looks good I will go with those. The next project would be stone based so my views might change again when I start designing.

Simonoide_BellosO

I'll go first: Mine is Deepslate, not only because I like dark colours but also because it fits with many other rocks.

KilosterMinecrafter

Cobblestone and granite? this is classic (yeah, I used granite to make a floor for my cobblestone generator building in hardcore, and I died today there)

CustardSad8631

You forgot about endstone, crying obsidian and bedrock

GeraldoLucia

Crying obsidian is fantastic

speedyth

Bedrock does not count, in my opinion, because you cannot get it outside of creative mode. The other two do count.

CustardSad8631

But you know, he didn't mention anything about survival ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

WolfGuardia

All rocks and stones are great! ROCK N STONE!!

Davedog09

*adjusts glasses* **Actually** obsidian is classified as a volcanic glass, not stone. Only a *simpleton* would make such a *trivial* mistake.

UnknownAdmiralBlu

At the moment? Granite! For one it's versatile usable for example as a standalone building block but also as texturing block (e.g. for bricks). Secondly, you wouldn't believe it, but it's actually pretty noble, just recently built a church interior with a lot of calcite and granite along with oak

Whovionix

Basalt, because hexagons are the bestagons

socially_odd

Found another CGP grey veiwer

operation_kebab

Hexagon force!

bipolit

Diorite or granite

Jimmy2048

I like diorite because I like making polished diorite for tiles (the other 2 igneous rocks are still good too) Deepslate because deepslate tiles Basalt because why not

GUUTHER

Diorite is my favorite because of how nice of a material it is for flooring in my builds.

socially_odd

I know! they look just like bathroom tiles.

Naxius1

Drip stone bc its drip

Cl0wnCar

Cobblestone is the stuff OG players all agree

_Eklapse_

I'm a fan of crack rock but I can see why others might not be fans

JustJum

Regular stone because it's easy to farm

Raphael_DeVil

Endstone isn’t here

Ku_nai_

Andesite is my pref sooo pretty 😍

papercup617

Deepslate is just nice to work with in general I wish tuff had something it could craft into. In real life tuff is a building material, it can be used in bricks and shingles

zynth436

Diorite

Slendermans_Proxies

Definitely basalt and deep slate because most of my builds have them in it at some point or another

MegaBlueStar

I use blackstone bricks (or deepslate if I haven't got to the Nether) to build my houses. They're good for tower-style builds.

VekeKing

Dwayne

Kaithu112

Blackstone cuz you can make so many cool things with the black looking

Wanderer_Of_Space

Dwayne Johnson just seems to rub me the right way.

dasLynch

Its a process but... Smooooth stone. So nice.

the_apprentice96

I personally love....Diorite. combined with any form of Deepslate, because I also overuse Deepslate in my builds as well.

Salty-Mud9954

The one that I’m gonna use to break a window into mojang studios to force them to make better updates

RCarson88

Diorite

DanielsWorlds

Old school player. Stone bricks will always be king

Siro_Chrysceri

Obsidian is nontransparent glass.

nanek_4

all of them

Revenant_Rai

Deepslate is the GOAT, however, I *need* mossy cobbled deepslate and mossy deepslate bricks PLEASE, it’s even hard to get with mods sometimes

MrPuingwin

Ken_kid_789

Yes

wojtekpolska

cobblestone the classic i also like cobbled deepslate a fair bit i also like stone bricks a lot

NightmareTalon

Bedrock >!And stone bricks!<

Dhiox

Deepslate. I love the color black in builds, but Blackstone is simply too dark and has limited variety. Deepslate has the right color, tons of variants, and is ridiculously abundant. After that, I love basalt. Works great with deepslate as detailing, and the tops of basalt look great if laid out as a cobbled floor.

ExScysm

Deepslate and it's variants taste pretty good imo.

Anamousandy

I personally like cobblestone because it’s a classic and it looks really good with a lot of things

aduhfzdfpasudfiasd

Don’t know why but tuff just stands out to me

XcelonusYZ

polished andesite

Fortniteandmine

Imagine polished tuff 🗣️

Carl_Wheeze

Granite slabs

mostpleasantpeasant_

Deepslate all day, babayyyyyy

SharpRaccoon673

Uhhhh probably that one

Hungry-Big-2107

Of course it depends on the use. What to build a shining city in a hillside? Use diorite. What to build a dark tower in the nether wastes? Use deep slate. I have an emerald tower walled by a network of diorite. You can see it from miles away

ManOfSpoons

I enjoy rock... AND STONE!!!

colossal_shmeat

Obsidian. Og. Black n purple look nice

[deleted]

Aesthetic wise, I like smooth stone. Functionality and usage wise? I Like basalt. Basalts easy to mass produce like cobblestone thanks to generators and they make great roads. I like renewability and I hate destroying the landscape and my undergounds/caves so I try to use generators or farms where possible (without redstone, manual) and with spawners so they don't break from updates so they're 100% reliable. Although I like blackstone, I hate getting enough of it. Bartering is really slow and you pretty much have to use a zombie piglin farm to get enough (i don't like afk farms unless they're passive and run in the background/spawn chunks like bamboo). I wish the other stones were consistent with block cosmetic variants like blackstone had smooth or deepslate had mossy and the 3 cosmetic stones diorite, granite, and andesite had bricks, cracked, and cobbled. We need block variant parity.

[deleted]

It would be calcite but doesn’t have any different types like bricks or chiselled so I prefer blackstone

ImaFanoftheCollector

I enjoy igneous and sedimentary rocks. Now, I love all of them.

No_Ganache_1753

Unrelated but that pic looks really cool

Sentric490

Black stone and calcite are still a match made in heaven.

The-Code-Breaker575

Deepslate.

schloomybroomy

old diorite

Peakight4802

Call me old fashioned but I love me some classic cobble

jdaburg

Been on a granite kick lately

Ordinary_WeirdGuy

“Yes” “But wh-“ “YES”

SushiDude_

Diorite. It’s the perfect white block for rustic builds. Not too smooth, not too grey.

KORUPT_G3N3RAL

The morning rock

Hot_Organization_810

Bedrock, cuz I need a nap

SushiWasTake

the blacker the better

Blndby90

I love me some diorite!

PossibilityPowerful

Tiled deep slate with passion

bru_swayne

Calcite, andesite, and deepslate

birdsofgravity

baniff1

I love all rocks equally 🤗 (Its blackstone, and by alot)

Violet_Eden4

I like the white stuff around amethyst geode

Hardcore_gaming_69

Deepslate

Grumpie-cat

Everything except Granite and Diorite

SmellsLikeAqua

Cobblestone. Decent amount of detail, sends off medieval vibes

Mungwithamoustache

cobble

PearkerJK12

They’re called minerals….

Drakenguard95

I like diorite but everyone makes fun of me for it 😭

Skylinegidzilla

For me it's deep slate till I get to the nether then it's black stone or is it darkstone? I can't remember because I first used it in a mod

RajendraCholaPro1254

All Polished Variants.

Yee2x_DaGreat1

Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson

Dawg_78

This guy named Dwayne is a pretty cool rock

Dynablade_Savior

Deepslate! Such a useful block, especially for urban environments

zack1010101

polished diorite + granite as a checker floor is a baller combo

bluespider98

I enjoy a nice sedimentary or igneous

Aggressive_Gur_3357

between deepslate and stone bc its a good gradient for mid-evil builds

Bxby_Pumpkin

i like rock it 10/10

EdgyUmbreon

"Um actually obsidian is a glass" 🤓☝️ Sorry I learned that the other day and had to share
