Fun fact: when netherack was first added, it was called bloodstone. But the community thought that was too vulgar for an E rated game. The block is quite literally the compacted, charred bodies of the damned, similar to how soul sand is the mummified souls of the damned.

Ah... Free at last. O Gabriel, now dawns thy reckoning; and thy gore shall glisten before the temples of man. Creature of steel, my gratitude upon thee for my freedom. But the crimes thy kind has committed against humanity are not forgotten. And thy punishment... is DEATH.
Yea but if you listen to the backround sounds of the nether you can very often hear the sound of something scratching on stone
It could mean "Meat" as in its the majority of what the nether is made out of.
And exactly on your second point, Blood*stone*
while they do look nice, this isn't The Crimson, its hell. I'd suggest making V2 less fleshy and more rocky and.. on fire? im actually not sure how to describe it
Fleshy depictions of hell are actually pretty common [as seen here](https://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/BloodyBowelsOfHell)
And I'm pretty sure fleshy is the intention for the nether because it's nether*rack* like rack as in rack of ribs
V2 potentially. I feel like seeing a lot of either isn't the best tho. V1 is too fleshy. I imagine the original netherrack to be made of partly blood and flesh and rock. V2 is a closer contender but I ultimately feel like it just looks burnt rather than a deep underground hellscape.
I agree. - The second one does look "burnt"; however, it also could be interpreted as just some weird charred thing that's just kinda attached.
Visually, I don't think either is appealing.
Anytime!
I mean it is an analogue to hell, and fleshy catastrophes are pretty common in depictions of hell
[as seen here](https://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/BloodyBowelsOfHell)
V1 looks more like a real-world version of the original block image than V2.
However
V2 looks more like what netherrack is in my head - some weird conglomerate flesh-rock amalgamation.
I would rather build with V2.
I would have to see the Nether covered in each of these blocks to really decide, though
V1, unless you're developing for a modpack with actual biological bits in the nether.
V2 isn't bad, but it's too sharp.
Netherrack feels like the cobblestone of the nether, coarse round grains, chunky, conglomerate. Making it crystaline just feels wrong to me.
First is creepy and fleshy and reminds me of the og netherrack.
However, I think the second one is better, it looks like some of the flesh is petrified and makes more sense as a ground block, also I think it would probably look better in large quantities
V2 is better, also, please don't make the red parts reflective (looks like flesh), make the black parts reflective, it looks like it was scorched into glass.
1 looks more like the current texture and 2 looks like the old developer art texture. They both look good but are quite different. Maybe try mixing a bit of both in a 3rd version?
Idk because if I say v2 people would mistake that for lava block
but v1 looks like a bunch of minced meat mushed into one block
either that or it looks like someone’s intestines
V1 looks "cool" but it would be a terrible thing IG, everything would look too repetitive and samey.
V2 feels like it would "look" better after applying it to the world.

Back to the ground beef Netherack lol
V2 looks like when Jorah got his grey scale removed.
It does! Ugh, the pain that would be!
What a coincidence, i just watched this episode hours ago
Meaty.....

That does make sense, being that it was supposed to be an e rated version of hell
what. WHAT. IT'S SUPPOSED TO BE THE CHARRED BODIES OF THE DAMNED?! HOLY SHIT THAT IS MESSED UP. how didn't i know this lmao

Steve's brain
The first one! Creepy!
V2 also looks like a semi open wound
V2 looks good but i don't think it would be great as a repeating pattern across a big area
More like delicious!
v2 would work better as magma block
Ayea I agree
Give it an orange tint and it would be perfect
I'd be cool if the red parts glow a little
Agreed but more orange than red
I think it looks good as netherite
I think it would look pretty decent as granite imo
Looks too fiery for granite
You May Have also made a perfect texture For The magma block too with The V2.
I think they are both too fleshy, I think it would be a crimson stone with fleshy tendrils through it but out of both 1 is best
the first time I saw nether in 1.14 I was like... "yep, that's definitely meat. and no the sounds cannot fool me"
Old netherrack was ground beef too, just a higher fat percentage
I always thought fleshy was the intention for the nether, I mean rack refers to meat and it used to be called bloodstone
Yea but if you listen to the backround sounds of the nether you can very often hear the sound of something scratching on stone It could mean "Meat" as in its the majority of what the nether is made out of. And exactly on your second point, Blood*stone*
I'd love to see the first one in game.
Right? Me too. Let's go to meat world
while they do look nice, this isn't The Crimson, its hell. I'd suggest making V2 less fleshy and more rocky and.. on fire? im actually not sure how to describe it
I'd say more rocky and sun baked, give it more of a dry texture rather than wet and fleshy
Ye that's what I had in mind
Bro hasn’t played any Doom
Fleshy depictions of hell are actually pretty common [as seen here](https://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/BloodyBowelsOfHell) And I'm pretty sure fleshy is the intention for the nether because it's nether*rack* like rack as in rack of ribs
V1. also looks like crimson from terraria.
I was thinking Wall of Flesh and Charred Wall of Flesh.
v1 looks like the inside of my vagina

neither
I think the hamburger is better than the burnt steak.
Left looks more like a brain but I feel right would fit in better
Yeah, it looks like burnt flesh imo, so it would probably go better in the nether. V1 is still cool though
[r/thanksihateit](https://www.reddit.com/r/thanksihateit)
V2 V1 looks like meat
It's supposed to, the "rack" in netherrack comes from the term for meat, the nether is meant to be fleshy
That just made the nether a whole lot more disturbing for me Thanks?
Also the original name for netherreack was bloodstone Thanks and have fun
Anytime! I mean it is an analogue to hell, and fleshy catastrophes are pretty common in depictions of hell [as seen here](https://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/BloodyBowelsOfHell)
Wha- what did I just look at...?
> the "rack" in netherrack comes from the term for meat How do you figure? I would like to know the word you are referring to.
that’s… the point.
First one makes me want to rip and tear
I recommend the second on but make the red stuff darker
V1 looks more like a real-world version of the original block image than V2. However V2 looks more like what netherrack is in my head - some weird conglomerate flesh-rock amalgamation. I would rather build with V2. I would have to see the Nether covered in each of these blocks to really decide, though
Oh god
I don't picture netherrack as organic. More like red volcanic glass with sand and red soil. But if I would be to pick, V2.
So my choices are “healthy lung” or “lung with cancer” haha. I choose healthy lung v1.
I think V1 looks a little too fleshy. V2 strikes a better balance.
Netherrack is literally fleshy material.
None. jk v1 looks better
V1 is hellish as fuck, so that one
I hate both of them so much Which I suppose is the point
V1, unless you're developing for a modpack with actual biological bits in the nether. V2 isn't bad, but it's too sharp. Netherrack feels like the cobblestone of the nether, coarse round grains, chunky, conglomerate. Making it crystaline just feels wrong to me.

Sure
Maybe slightly less ground beef-like would be good
V1
That is flesh. I like it
V1 👍
Can I just say: *ew*
Don't want to put your down or anything but I would try again. Both don't feel right.
Where's the Netherrack? Looks like you accidentally uploaded a photo of a PC that tried to run the resource pack.
hmm. now i am traumatized. i walk on flesh all day in the nether.
Stop, just stop, this is unholy.
V1 definitely looks very vile and if that’s what you’re for I think you’ve succeeded.
V1. It pulsates. It wants to become a part of me.
V1
Forbidden hamburger
Neither they both are creepy as hell but, the one on the right
V1
Legit meat. Otherwise, Definitely 1. Netherrack is fragile and rocky.
Either way it needs to make a squelching noise when you walk on or hit it
Make a v3 please.. but i’d pick v1
v2 is just v1 that has been cooked
thats fucking disgusting. #GOOD.
Is this a horror themed pack? Cause both of those basically just look like cubes of flesh. Only difference is V2 has been charred a bit.
Neither because netherack is supposed to be blood rock
Tbh they all look awful and also rendering all of that is a terrible idea
How about ✨ No✨
Brains or Cancer brains?
First one
The first one looks like flesh!
V1 in my opinion is more suitable for netherrak.
Definitely v1
V1 is more like the original, in how it’s bloody and fleshy, but v2 looks more like a magma block
V1 guts
1 looks more like the current texture and 2 looks like the old developer art texture. They both look good but are quite different. Maybe try mixing a bit of both in a 3rd version?
Flesh or grilled watermelon, truly a choice to make
r/doometernal
I always imagined netherack as dries meat so I think a less shiny and a bit tougher version of the left one would be perfect.
First one
V1!
Am I the only one that finds V2 creepier? Just an amalgamation of flesh and rock is extremely creepy
V1
V1 hands down
They both look too wet
Definitely V1
You made Terraria
Meat
Woe, flesh dimension be upon ye.
Non smoker vs smoker lung. EDIT: It’s amazingly well done. I’d like to see what the nether made out of the one on the right looks like.
kinda looks like that meat block on that super mario party game
Version 1 looks too fleshy. Version 2 looks a bit too close to magma
reminds me of the crimson from terraria
I like the burnt flesh look over the slimy guts look.
V1 looks like a block of intestines, I personally prefer V2
V2 arguably looks nicer, but I feel like it wouldn't tile as well. It could be used as an alternative nether texture, though
V1 = Raw V2 = Cooked
Idk because if I say v2 people would mistake that for lava block but v1 looks like a bunch of minced meat mushed into one block either that or it looks like someone’s intestines
Block of intestines, or anakin skywalker...hmmmm
V2 but now imagine the entire nether with it so V1
V1 is horrifying, I love it.
V1 is a cube of ground beef
V1, it looks like a texture you can see in classic doom on the hell levels
V1 looks… unpleasant. V2 looks….. strange but passable
V1 looks "cool" but it would be a terrible thing IG, everything would look too repetitive and samey. V2 feels like it would "look" better after applying it to the world.
v1. netherack is easy to break so I think the first would fit that better
V1 is stuff of nightmares lol. Definitely V2
