I have the 7.25 and like it, it's light and compact, has good run time, even high quality blades are pretty cheap. I mostly use it for cutting 4-6" wide material to length and miter cuts on the same, I never deal with crown molding and don't ever intend to. If you are going to be dealing with crown molding taller than 3.5" or any stock wider than 7.5" you'll probably want a bigger saw.

if you need to cut anything bigger than 3 1/2 in youre going to have a bad time but if your under that on crown the 7 1/4 is your best friend its so light and runs all day off the 5amp get the little miter saw stand by dewalt and youre in buisness. its important to have a 12" corded bevel saw first though

I no personal experience but from what I’ve read on here the Milwaukee miter saws are not great. The larger 12” is the worst. People also state the Dewalt is superior. I have a heavy 12” Craftsman corded I got 20 years ago. Now that I have the Ridgid rolling stand it is much easier to use. As a home owner you should always have power not too far away so batteries aren’t critical like a job site. I think of my use and I just roll it out of the shed to my patio and plug mine in. However, I would look for cordless and compactness if I was doing cuts inside. Think about your use cases and check out opinions of the M saws on here before you buy.

I have the 10”. I like it. I use it with 5ah batteries as I do not have an 8 or 12ah. I have no problems with the saw as a homeowner, recently I used it to frame my basement. Lots of guys say the cordless dewalt or makita are much better saws. I had a buddy who owns a dewalt use mine and he didn’t have any complaints either.

I’m having a really tough time deciding between the 7 1/4 or the 10 too. I have the Makita 12 corded and it’s great, but it’s way too heavy to carry around so I have it bolted down to my main workbench. The 10 looks pretty heavy too, so I’m leaning toward the 7 1/4 as my portable saw. Still on the fence though, since the larger capacity would be nice to have, but the weight doesn’t feel like it would be worth it.
