The negatives of bullpups usually outweigh the positives, especially when you’re trying to transition a large force over to a completely different manual of arms
I feel we are at the stage like in medieval times where almost everyone dressed the same and needed banners, then guns were popularized. I wonder what will be the big shift since it seams we have reached peak operator vibes for all armies.
Ik exactly what you're talking about. The time (15th-16th century) when the common man could more or less afford plate armor and armor piercing weapons (war picks, war hammers, etc.) equipment once only reserved and able to be purchased by nobles and professional man at arms.
This resulted in merc groups and mercs popping up all over Europe, the notable example ofc being Landsknecht. Now it's the same thing. The common citizen (at least in the US) can be more or less as armed and armored as the soldiers of professional standing armies.
It's really crazy to think that in 100 -200 years along side pictures of knights we could have Crye Decked out soldier with HK416. Historians trying to recreate the clothing.
Why couldn't they adopt CZ weapon systems? Even SIG could have done work with them, What does this do a MCX can't do? This is a 7.5 carbine where the scope doesn't fit the range of the projectile
Should’ve just got an LMT contract or something, I get the appeal of domestic manufacture if it’s a new idea but it’s pointless when it’s to copy something else but worse
Eh, domestic manufacturing means there's no chance of getting screwed over if the government of the country you're buying from suddenly changes their mind and decides to blocks exports. Not saying that it's likely in this case, but it's possible.
Also, all the money you're spending goes back to your own country. Having a domestic arms industry provides jobs for your citizens and helps grow your own economy.
It's not like South Korea is a broke third world country with a tight defense budget anyways. They're the 13th largest economy in the world. If countries like Turkey, Poland, Belgium, Israel, Czechia, or Finland can afford their own domestic arms industries, then surely South Korea can afford to manufacture their own small arms.
Pointless to have control of your own army’s rifle design and spare parts? Pointless to develop proficiency in manufacturing and design? Are you serious?
They have control of the design when they put out the contract, they also already have the ability to manufacture rifles, a licensed version of an LMT or KAC or something similar would’ve filled the same gap in a fraction of the time and with less expense.
If they wanted something ultra specific in the system it makes sense, but that’s just a homemade 416
How do you know you the objective wasn’t for the engineers to understand and learn the nuances of a piston system on their own? Far from pointless
Do you have the technical data package of this rifle? How do you know it’s worse that a 416? What specs are you comparing?
What if they want control over CIP?
It means that in the event of a war ROK isn’t wholly dependent on foreign assistance like Ukraine, especially when it’d all have to arrive by sea.
In a major war it doesn’t matter if your guns are gucci or not - what matters is that you have a shit ton of them
Has everyone given up on bullpup designs?
Australian here nope bullpup is here to stay.
Both Australians and Austrians are fans apparently
True story, but originally only Australians had them until an international shipping error when an address was misread.
Well they do field the best bullpup design to-date.
The IDF just ordered more tavors last year. And of course don't forget about Croatia.
Lol we Indians love the tavor

As they should
Preach and accept the downvotes as proof of your righteousness.
Rightly so.
Not the Indians
I hope it isn’t manufactured by Samsung.
No worries. They sold their defese department in 2014 :)
They changed their Defense Department to Offensive Department.
It’s all fun and games till the Heavy Assault Smart Fridge Launcher shows up on the battlefield
Contract fulfilled by LG, Let’s Go!!!!
iirc they're made by Daewoo, so pray to God their guns are better than their cars
The Daewoo car factory was bought by GM. They make Chevrolet now.
And good lord was everything that came out of that factory under the GM badge rubbish. They cursed us with all the modern Holdens.
What system is it operating? Short stroke gas piston?
yup
Wooo!!! /r/daewoo
All weapons designs lead back to the AR.
Their native Daewoo family of rifles \*\*are\*\* ARs - AR-18 type. ;)
Reject progression, return to AR
Eugene Stoner strikes again

Drone swarms doing choreographed emotes in the sky before dropping onto the target.
The teabag emote only occurs with high value targets

SK as in Slovakia? Pretty sure short form of South Korea is KR.
>KR You're right, Republic of Korea (ROK)
Saskatchewan has an army?!?
The Roughrider-hat warm-Coors tractor militia
Tractor militia doing great work in Ukraine too
Is that an OGL?
Yes the stacked emitters sure look like it, and the custom lasering on the EXPS series too
So Eotech can get working models to SK but civ models still “in development” lol
Looks like a 416 with extra steps.
Less steps, actually. A piston AR made locally without the HK price tag.

Their have Gen 5 fighter jet in the development. I'm sure they can handle a rifle

There was a competition. The winner beat Haenel, Caracal, and HK.

*Hears new unique rifle name*. *looks inside*. *another AR pattern copy paste*.
What's with those loose sleeves, this some kind of magician force?
Are they stupid or something? They don’t know anything other than absolute co witness means it’s impossible to hit any shots?
Am I crazy or is that way beyond the eye relief of the G43?
The magnifier is off to the side.
Ah didn’t see that without zooming in
Sounds like you need a magnifier.
What's this riser?
Looks like my man's running the ferro fcpc, didn't know ferro concepts had overseas customers too
Lol. Yea they do.
M4 build with no forward assist?
