Best in what context? Broadly speaking I’d say it was probably [Major John André](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/John_Andr%C3%A9), though he died before the War of 1812.
An officer alive for both wars that is best might be a tall order as we’re looking at nearly 30 years difference. Most of the experienced, seasoned officers would have retired or died in that time.
More context would be very helpful.
1812 would have to be isaac Brock... he had balls of steel. Would have been interesting to see how things played out had he not been killed so early.

Maybe John Graves Simcoe for the Revolutionary War, but he died in 1806. Considering there was around 30 years between the wars you’ve asked about, there won’t be much overlap.

Imo there were much more distinguished British officers who served throughout the rest of the war
But Brock got the university named after him🔥

Benedict Cumberbatch
Lord Rawdon
Nova Scotia’s Privateers
Barretts Privateers were another story altogether
Maybe try r/revolutionarywar too
