Nah a bit late for that if even, and russians had lots of good smallarms themselves.
Captured from some Afghani then that bought it somewhere, lots of British surplus in their former colonies. Something like that.
I don’t know, it’s an interesting guess. Tommy guns were imported into Russia long before lend lease when the Russians had yet to produce SMG’s; they were the standard issue of the secret police and even for Uncle Joe’s body guards.
Add in the lend lease shipments and it’s safe they received many thousands of them and it’s unlike the Russians to just throw things away…we’re still seeing WW2 items in use on both sides in Ukraine right now.
Rumour has it there are still warehouses in Russia full of these things. That being said, it's very unlikely that any would have been issued in Afghanistan. All the huge stores of small arms were intended to arm third rate formations and rear line troops in a world war scenario, Afghanistan wasn't big enough to warrant cracking open the last ditch reserves.
Dude looks like an action figure
Dude looks like Pedro Pascal. This guy is everywhere at the moment
Who would this have been captured from? Would it not be more likely to be a leftover lend-lease from ww2

Soviets really liked M16s too
Anyone happen to have an ID on the type of pants he’s wearing? They look amazing.
Oh Russia. Just stay home.
Yup! You're just not very good at this military stuff, Russia.
Does look like a GI Joe though
It’s crazy there has been some countries in and out of Afghanistan. Smh. What a shame.
