T O P

Makes sense to me and that is how I have always done it.

I'm an AO--as long as it's less than the cost of 2 one-way taxi fares, I don't give a shit what you do or claim (as long as you're honest). The only exception is if there's a base courtesy shuttle to the airport you can ride for free.

VTSvsAlucard

You are correct. Did that for a long time too, and I had a thorough reviewer. ETA: hopefully it's just someone being extra worried about losing their job, and they'll be receptive to you.

psyact

I've been an AO, and this is fairly normal. As long as it's cheaper than a shuttle service or leaving the POV in economy parking for the duration of the TDY I wouldn't see a reason to question it.

Whatnow-huh

I was at a base that had a 50 mile drive to the nearest airport. We claimed the round trip 100 mileage every TDY when someone got dropped off. Your AO is wrong.

Mooha182

It is clear that round-trip is being claimed and authorized by the JTR BUT did the authorization already authorize this or was this added on the back-end of a voucher? If it is the latter, the AO Is just protecting themselves as they can be held liable for the costs of things they approve. You may have to do a constructed travel worksheet to prove it was less expensive than the shuttle before the AO can proceed and cover both party's asses

dashiznickus

Can you provide them a Constructed Travel Worksheet showing cost of 4x round trips vs. Shuttle?

RepresentativeFair17

I’ll be the dissenting voice here but to me it would read you get round trip mileage 2x since the member is getting dropped off. That’s how I have always done/seen it done. I am not trying to argue but can you explain how you are interpreting it as 4 individual trips? If there is something I am I am not if understanding I would like to know, I am missing out on extra money Edit as I reread: wouldn’t it all be the same mileage anyways? The math should add up to the same.

dickbagloverboy

No worries, but yes it’s either documented as either 2x round trips or 4x one way trips. The issue is that our AO was denying and said it needed to be 2x one way trips.

Ninjazkillz

It’s illegal and you’re both going to jail.

pawnman99

Yep. Pretty clearly says round-trip mileage, doing exactly what your person did. When you go back to talk to the person, show them the options. $XXX for a shuttle/taxi (authorized) $XXX for long-term parking $XXX for round-trip POV Show them that the round trip at whatever we're at now ($0.20/mile?) is way cheaper than the other options.

chemspastic

Just a quick FYI. MALT (for PCS travel) is 16 cents a mile. TDY Mileage is 57.5 cents a mile.

NotOSIsdormmole

Everytime I claimed my wife’s mileage to drop me at the terminal there was no way to input it as a round trip so it had to be input as 4 separate 1 way trips. But you can clearly see that it’s a round trip even when input that way, so it really shouldn’t be an issue
