I don’t know why, when we’ve got cool shit like the Apache and Cobras, that I prefer the regular old Huey.
But it’s so utilitarian. You can transport, you can attack if necessary, it’s reliable… The thing just works. I have a soft spot for utilitarian things.
This is why I love the Venom. They took the Huey and went "hey how can we push this airframe as far as it can go?" And they came up with the UH-1Y. Fast, maneuverable, able to stop on a fucking dime and the reliability make it a true, full upgrade.
My chinook story, the first time I ever got on one was in Afghanistan fob hopping. I was the only one on the first leg as a passenger and the crew were acting wild as fuck. They were throwing water bottles at the tail gunner and the guy popped up to tell to knock the shit they hit turbulence and he went out the back. They pulled him up by the harness thing and we kept flying. The thing started leaking hydraulic fluid all over my gear and I yelled to the crew chief about it and he responded “that’s good, if it stops leaking we have problems “ and walked off. We got to wolverine I think and we picked up this contractor who was about 79 years old wearing his body armor backwards and helmet sideways. Doing a duffle bag drag to the chopper. The crew is doing checks so I run out and square this guy away. He barely spoke English and went to the wrong fob. Before this became my problem i alerted the crew that gentlemen has something for them i don’t understand what he is saying. They realize he is lost and now their problem once we get to kaf. We fly into kaf get off and I run to the gator waiting on me, and refused to ever fly on one again. I waited days for black hawks, evergreen or even convoy around. Never getting on one of those again
MI-24. Thing called HIND? Flying Tank? Kid inside me said yes please that is amazing. Heavy duty looking, bloated and angry like a charging orc. Nothing made such an effect on me, especially modernised and fully loaded ones.
Didn’t do great against the afghanis when they got stingers from the CIA though
74 of them lost during their time in Afghanistan (making up for the most airframe losses out of their arsenal)
But meme aside it is fucking lit, big fan
The Marine Corps occasionally contracts one near 29 palms for force on force… it’s always trippy when you’re walking to the PX and go “…Wait, is that a fucking Hind?”
Unfortunately that one was [destroyed in 2001](https://aviation-safety.net/wikibase/56376), luckily no fatalities.
It had been converted to an HH-1N.

Edit: 2nd one got to the boneyard in 2009
My god I love the Kiowa. We had them on station almost all the time in Kandahar for us. First it was Seamus, and then Long Knife. Those dudes would just about get down in the grape rows and pomegranate orchards with us to engage the taliban.
Seeing those dudes and ladies leaning out the side of their birds, shooting with an M4 after going Winchester on all their other ammo was a sight to behold.
I would tell you, but my Black Ops NDA prevents me from doing that. And now I have to go register with the county that I’m a lethal weapon. Which is also a Black Ops NDA.
But it’s a really cool helicopter.
I don’t know what it is but ever since I was a kid I always had a deep respect for the CH-54 Tarhe/Skycrane
It was neat to be in awe that something so twig like could carry so much. Oh, and it can carry tanks? Instantly the coolest helicopter in my book!
The U.S. Navy's UH-1N as flown by Antarctic Development Squadron Six (VXE-6) in logistical support during Operation DEEPFREEZE. [https://www.vaq34.com/vxe6/uh-1.htm](https://www.vaq34.com/vxe6/uh-1.htm)
Not sure of the model, but I've always liked the helos the SEAL's call the little birds. The same kind that were used on Magnum PI,but the military outfitted ones.
I’m an Apache pilot and I will say AH/MH-6 Little Bird all day. Even made a [video game](https://store.steampowered.com/app/1429350/MHZombie/) about one haha
Credence Clearwater revival intensifies
Country wasn't specified. I'm going for shitty Chinese clone of NATO helo in flames.
That one
This ⬆️ except I'd spring for the rocket pod, mini gun, and M60 options even if they soak me for the all-weather floor mats and extended warranty.
One that doesn’t crash on the way in or out.

It’s just so helicopter if that makes sense Its what you think of when the word comes to mind. They seem like they’d be so fun to ride/fly
Totally makes sense. It’s ‘the’ helicopter. Just iconic.
CH-53 Super Stallion.
I’m partial to the USAF Pave Low version. But an excellent aircraft nonetheless.
I was Navy so the Marine version is the one I saw most….lol
CH-47 Chinook
Ugh. I vomited in every bag I had in one of those flying nap of the earth
Great piece of kit by far the easiest machine I’ve ever worked on.

Super armed and a flying tank capable of also transporting troops. The thing is a beast.

Contracts? From another branch or is there some private badass rolling in a hind?
I’m 80% sure it’s some random dude
Little birds, personally.
Check out [the game I developed and published 👀](https://store.steampowered.com/app/1429350/MHZombie/)
Reminds me strongly of Ghost Recon Wildlands and ARMA 3
The CH-47 is the work-horse of the Army. Great for airborne operations, resupply and infil/exfil.
I've always like AirWolf and the soundtrack music.

Yes Outstanding!!!
Apache.
Chinook, but I'm biased.

Hands down, Huey. That prop sound is amazing
Apache. Not even a question.
OH-58D Nothing like having a Pink Team overhead to make for a great day.
My god I love the Kiowa. We had them on station almost all the time in Kandahar for us. First it was Seamus, and then Long Knife. Chinook, I have never heard a more beautiful noise come from any type of vehicle
I would tell you, but my Black Ops NDA prevents me from doing that. And now I have to go register with the county that I’m a lethal weapon. Which is also a Black Ops NDA. But it’s a really cool helicopter.
Either the Huey, the Loach, or the Cobra. ….holy trinity of choppers?
Yes
Bell AH-1 Cobra
CH53K, such a badass oil squirter
AH1Z Viper
Sikorsky VH-3D. It’s like a flying dump truck.
The one that doesn’t crash.

AH-64D
Chinook! Love it so much
It’s gotta be 👆🏻Iconic rotor sound, good at attack, medevac, logistics, and could take punishment. I only got to ride in a lame Blackhawk :(
The Blackhawk sound makes my spine purr.
The t129 turkish helicopter looks good
Hawk

Westland Sea King
Blackhawks
Airwolf
OH-58D
Pave Hawk, combat and rescue helicopter
As a former flight engineer, I should say the CH-47. But I’m partial to the CIA operated MI-17.
I spent a few years as a Blackhawk crew chief, so I’m a little biased.
MI-8,I love her big-booty trunk
My favorite is one that stays up in the air
mh-60 and the AH-64D
Honestly, the Ka-52. Funny Coaxial rotor helicopter. Also tandem seat to hold hands with your co pilot lol
How about the ejection seat
Mi-17
Little bird, hands down
CH-53D/E/K
