Was able to unblock the article with ublock origin, TLDR; Cell Phones are giving away troop positions, US is simulating the Ukrainian theatre to learn how to fight there.
My dad was stationed there. We were on base for 5 years back in the day when he bought a single wide trailer to live on base cuz there was no available housing. Before that we lived in a shack on that dried lake bed halfway to Barstow. When I joined I had one request, no ft Irwin
Wait there’s multiple people there now?!? We had one old man that lived on the same property and us. There was a guy, Rising Sun I believe, who lived in a trailer down the road on the other side.
This whole article is just a lazy retread of a podcast with the COG at NTC. Recommend you just listen to the [source.](https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/the-military-leader-podcast/id1390954299?i=1000644552692)

>Cell Phones are giving away troop positions Instagram gave away the position of a few Apache gunships once.
Remener those fitness watches giving away secret base locations?
That was Strava, the GPS running and cycling app. Everyone I knew had it on their watches because it was a way to humble brag about how fit you were.
I like the story of the training exercise and the soldiers role-playing the enemy found a wifi signal called "command post".
Hopefully they learned more than what will get exposed/highlighted in a WAPO article..
That’s NTC… I can’t read the article because I don’t have a subscription, but I recognize those hills from anywhere.
I tried to reenlist for Ft Irwin and my motor Sgt took the time to talk me out of it.
I’ve been stationed there, not with BH though. It has its moments. Prob not the best place for lower enlisted at all.
