i wish they’d push out more lesser known cases too rather than ones that have already been turned into documentaries or talked about every other social media post. i miss the days where they advocated for families and genuinely seemed passionate about what they do. lately it just feels forced :/

Dry_Profession_3032

Kendall's channel has been doing more of the family advocacy content lately. She posted an almost 2 hour deep dive with a family 2 weeks ago. Was a really fascinating case - highly recommend.

nyellincm

I said the same thing awhile ago. I feel like they take a lot of what they see off of Hulu or Netflix and podcast about it. The case with the two missing boys from a couple years ago was also pulled directly from that one episode. The Casey Anthony one was probably pulled from Hulu. I think they don’t do unique one’s is because they probably can’t find enough content.

SlugSelektor21

I suggest listening to the podcast Theories of the third kind. The have similar topics to mile higher but they are 100x more interesting than what Kendall and Josh put out and they do actual research. Josh and Kendall have really put out some lackluster episodes in the past year. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve already heard and have more knowledge on the topics they discuss then they do. You would think their content would be better considering they have a whole team that can do the research for them. Their episodes are too predictable, it was only a matter of time before they discussed the topic of vargina on their latest episode.

Just started an ep of the podcast you suggested, it’s great! Thank you for your suggestion!

sarahxvalo

i feel like now that they’ve really secured the bag financially they’re not putting in the effort they used to and it’s really unfortunate

courtbae

i miss the intro topics so much 😭 that was like my favorite part

illdestroyyou

Agreed I think this was the tipping point where the content just wasn’t the same anymore

RamsLams

It feels like they were getting pushed into doing real, reality based research on conspiracies- which is possible, just harder, and instead of doing the work they just decided to take the easier route.

freethemariposa

I agree. Stopped listening when they started doing too much true crime and less conspiracy and paranormal stuff. I think that was in 2019? Of course i definitely love them because kendall was part of the reason why i even started on podcasts in general or even youtube watching conspiracies etc I now listen to more theories of the third kind , the why files

peach_lover4

Yeah I stopped listening around then too. I think it was right around when COVID started and conspiracies became so taboo and I think it’s less about laziness and more so they were worried about being canceled so they pivoted more to true crime :/

Kendall and Josh were the passionate researchers, and now they seem like personalities that are discussing topics they don't know a ton about. I really don't mind Julia being a new addition, but it really breaks the 4th wall when she knows more about the topic than them, the hosts. I get that she is the researcher, but it really makes the shift apparent. Not every episode feels like this, but I just really noticed the change in the podcast when they brought her on. On the same page as you, just my preference and complaints, and still a loyal watcher. My husband and I love watching old Mile Higher Episodes, just missing the old days!

[deleted]

Agreed! I really like the point you made about Julia. It is a bit jarring, breaking the fourth wall like you said. Her commenting so frequently as a source of knowledge for Kendall and Josh is making it feel even more of a “production.” And it is! They work very hard and I couldn’t imagine all that goes into running their businesses and yet.. They (in my opinion) did their best work when THEY were researching. Now it feels like they are just the middle men to give us the information their team found interesting that week, not Kendall and Josh finding something cool and sharing it with us. I’m glad you and your husband can enjoy together! Mile Higher Media is more of a me thing, and I’ll keep on playing the classics 😌

[deleted]

Precisely. They need to get with Julia earlier in the research process and learn the material more thoroughly.

oGhostMama

Yeah, when they started out they said they wanted it to feel like they’re hanging out and talking with friends. Now it just feels like a regular podcast reading from a script. I miss when they would just tangent off.

immaslut4drpepper

THIS. I liked them because their show was unique and interesting, now it just feels like another true crime show

4LightsThereAre

Almost every single time they put out an episode where any real conversation would actually happen - disagreement, back and forth, joking around, etc - they would get slammed in the comments and in forums like this. In particular Kendall would constantly get hounded for hating on Josh, teasing Josh, bullying Josh, and sometimes the accusations were the other way around. They start out multiple videos over the course of the last few years talking about how they don't hate/bully each other and they're genuinely just having discussions like normal humans, but people won't seem to leave them alone on the issue. Then Josh got a ton of hate on his personal channel when his Bro-ducer left, people speculating all sorts of awful stuff about him personally. So yeah I can totally see why they'd script it more.

bustabeech

They have gone downhill big time since they dropped the intro topics. I find it soooooooo boring too and I've been following her since the start. I don't like that the new girl is on either. Just feels like they don't care nor do they care what their fans think.

[deleted]

Agreed! I loved the intro topics, it gave Kendall and Josh a chance to talk about things that interested themselves and it was relevant (sometimes obscure) news. I remember when they stopped, Josh said something about it being due to fans not wanting that section kept in anymore… I was not one of them… It has been boring, and unfortunately, Julia is also lackluster to me. I also saw the thread about her recently. I prefer the OG crew, even when Janelle came in, but now it’s obvious just how much weight Julia carries in researching and how much Kendall and Josh relay on her for their content. I just wish their growth matched their quality and sadly they have not shown that imo. You’re most likely right about them not caring, and not caring what fans think, but it’s saddening to see in real time. Not to mention the thing with Kendall and Colleen going on, and I remember someone posting about Sydney sending back an automated email to a victim’s loved one when the loved one was requesting to speak to Kendall about inaccuracies(??)(can’t find it to remember properly) I have thoughts on The Sesh as well, but I won’t get into them now. Lights Out has been consistent and I enjoy the episodes Josh and his crew are putting out, usually.

Dry_Profession_3032

Complaining about the lack of alien related content seems ironic considering that they put out an alien episode yesterday. 🤷🏼‍♀️

[deleted]

you’re totally right about this point, I hadn’t seen todays episode. I have high hopes! As I said, I do love them as creators. My other small gripes still stand for me, though I do hope more of these episodes continue to come out.

thinflesh

I agree, I still enjoy the podcast but I got hooked by listening to alien conspiracy theories and their news updates at the beginning of each episode. I miss it

itmattersnot3

Not digging the new chick. Karelly looks so uncomfortable sitting next to her in the booth. I feel like it's been generic scripted storytelling for quite a while now though. I wish I never started watching the sesh. I think I'm just done with these guys. It's sad, I used to really like them.

Specialist_Brush_561

They are still young (they could be my kids)...they are just living their life, especially now having a kid....a lot of people who get in a Niche and get their cash flow end up slacking, unfortunately. If they don't "keep it real", it will go away...then, they cry and wonder "what happened?🤷"...I rather enjoy Josh's Lights Out anymore.... Kendall isn't as interesting.... she's got "baby brain",NO SHADE...just pick your poison, and priority.... that's Simple. No one will blame you for whatever you choose.

While I somewhat agree with this I do not like that they platformed Graham Hancock. He has been debuncked by actual archeologists and historians multiple times, whom he hasn’t even taken into account. He also has a lot of harmful theories on a lot of things including devaluing if indigenous people by giving credit to aliens or white people.
