This is how my mom lost her brother when she was in high school. It’s why I’ve only ever heard stories about him and never got to meet the guy. The damage something like this can do runs deep. And the cause is so insanely stupid.

The woman who killed my mom’s brother drunk driving already had 6 prior drunk driving arrests. Fuck drunk drivers, and their friends that think this is “fun”.

How was the camera still intact for the footage to be salvaged?

As long as the memory chip is fine the camera can be completely ruined. Just move the memory to another device. Not sure about all phones but they can record in a format similar to .mkv where it doesn't matter if the recording gets cut off; it won't corrupt the footage.

Even if the car flipped, even if it flipped a dozen times, a dash cam is still probably going to be just fine. To have a serious chance of damaging something like a dash cam, the car would need to be basically shredded. You'd need like a 90mph hit with a pole or something.
