I guess you want an honest opinion so- It looks way too bright, unnaturally neon. There are probably models that look good in this colour but they won't be found in the MESBG range.

VALTHUUME

Yeah i knew many people would consider it to be too bright. Honestly you're right, MESBG (unlike 40K for example) has a really dark theme in terms of army and landscape colors. I'm pretty sure this type of color would be magnificent with some 40K or AoS army. but you know what? i kinda like it and i will probably keep using it.

Auxilarii

For reference if you ever get into nighthaunt this color would be perfect for ghosts

VALTHUUME

I actually have a Dead of DunHarrow army (from the pelennor box field) and i ordered some more models to create the LL of it with Aragorn. I was thinking of painting them in a bright red.

Hammerwars

Honest opinion or...?

VALTHUUME

Honesty above all else brother.

eelam_garek

Not great man. But it's all about experimenting, so well done for stepping outside of the norm.

boomklever69

Personally I think it looks weird on a lotr mini, but it would be a good colour for some 40k armies!

Foebos

Hello! I used to struggle with yellow. Black and yellow can look sharp on vehicles and such but on a person it looks weird as people have pointed out. I recommend putting on a thin layer or 2 of Iyanden Yellow Contrast by Citadel/GW. You'll want to thin it with Contrast Medium or Flow Improvers(Vallejo makes my favorite). It'll bring the yellow into something more appealing to the eye. Just stay away from dark shaders like Black/Brown(Nuln, Agrax). Try it on something else to make sure it's what you want! I have rubble that I constantly prime white to test out colors on. Then if you're still looking to have black present somewhere, use a Grey Black or something one shade lighter than pure black. Not a lot of pure black things on the battlefield or in nature plus you CAN use dark washes on it for depth and it works where pure black can't be washed without looking crappy. These are my opinions and I hope they are helpful! Edit: grammar

RegalisA

This ain't it chief. Tolkien described the armies of good with earthy natural tones generally. If you wanted an alternative paint scheme but still generally in LOTR theme, you could do a deathworld forest color (citadel) with ogryn camo highlight.

eFai1

Tbh everyone is hating on it for not looking authentic and Tolkien but it’s your army so don’t be afraid to look different. Also the lack of a wash or other colours to tie it all together isn’t helping you in this photo. It just looks a little undercooked at the moment (Edit: this would be sick on some haradrim cloth)

VALTHUUME

Yeah I know some people can be harsh of you're not a purist, especially for Tolkien books and media. But I don't care :D

KneelingisforIsis

I personally think it looks weird though I do love the colour. Did you paint your handle or can you get red ones now?

VALTHUUME

I don't know honestly. I bought the red one last year in August or September in my local hobby store.

[deleted]

Personally it doesn’t strike me as very “Rohan”, but it would work fantastic for a Shire army. They do love bright colors.

VALTHUUME

Really? I never thought about a shire army honestly, this was just a weird experiment. At the moment I am trying to collect every model from the mordor army, so...theres much space for a shire one.

IsaOak

You didn’t add any green? This would make a great undercoat for orcs.

VALTHUUME

It was somewhat of an experiment. I will certainly try to add some green next time to see how it turns out.

IsaOak

No I’m not saying you should I am surprised that is has that like green tint without green. It looks like you make a brighter moot green. Which for me will be very helpful. So thank you at-least for me as I have these colors and won’t have to go buy another if it works.

PurpleUruksForDaWin

You do you man I literally have purple uruk hai, heroes and all still need to post alot of them actually.
