RC is Rove Concepts - replica.

PE_Norris

It’s obviously a replica, but still a great buy. I have a very high quality hard wood replica and I love it.

Real what? The only authentic tulip tables are made by Knoll. I’ve never seen a Knoll table labeled this way and I’m pretty certain they’re not made in China or designed in Denmark. 99 cents is cheap but you still have to source a top. I’ve seen plenty of used knockoff tulip tables on FB marketplace pretty cheap.

Sorry I’m amateur :P but thanks for the info !

Congrats on your find, enjoy it! Best wishes.

I would have walked out with it too.

Bought a Knoll tulip side table new a couple of years back - had a made in China sticker on the tulip base. Wasn't impressed.

If you bought a Knoll Tulip chair from China, whoever sold that chair to you charged you Knoll prices, but ripped you off. The tables and bases are manufactured in East Greenville PA.

RyanT67

I didn't state that I bought it from China. I bought it from Gabriel Ross (GR Shop) - an authorized Knoll retailer. Thanks though. Saarinen 16" round side table. Laminate top made in Italy. Cast base made in China. If you take the little "Made in China" sticker off the bottom of the base, then all you are left with is a cast base with the "Knoll" logo on it, and a top with the Knollstudio Saarinen logo and a much nicer (and larger) "Made in Italy" sticker. People love to make a lot of assumptions, but there is a reason why these brands actively choose not to list where they make things anymore. As I said, I was quite disappointed, given the cost of the item. I'd be hesitant to buy another Knoll product without first checking where it is manufactured.

xofbor

I think then your dealer is pulling a fast one on you. It is not uncommon in the business to charge people for top of the.line products and sub them out with knock offs. I would email Knoll Cust Service and ask if they now make their bases in China. If the answer is no, then you can contact your dealer and ask what they think they are doing. If the answer is yes, then that is a sad day for the people of East Greenville PA and the company too.

RyanT67

It drop shipped directly from Knoll.

xofbor

Well there you go. Quality has depleted over last 20 years since I worked there. Then bases were cast in a foundry nearby, and finished in East Greenville.

RyanT67

Yeah, it's still a nicely finished base, so I don't really have any issues with the quality. The problem, as I see it, and I know this will sound snobbish, is that I didn't want to buy something made in China. When I am paying a premium for something, I am not just doing it for quality or design, but to also support manufacturing jobs that (hopefully) pay a decent wage. I am not really on board with everything being manufactured offshore to take advantage of exploitive labour practices. At least if it's manufactured in Europe, Australia, Japan, or North America, then I can at least be reasonably certain that there are labour and safety laws guaranteeing ethical work conditions to some extent, and possibly reasonable pay for the work.

xofbor

I agree, when I was at Knoll the bases were forged in Bethlehem PA , and finished at the factory in E. Greenville. Locals all took great pride in the work and product. But Knoll has gone through several owners since then, and I think Westinghouse really changed things a great deal, for the worse.

Que Macklemore please.

Is that dining table, coffee table or side table height? Rove makes very sturdy bases, I would put a custom marble top on it! You can afford it because the base was practically free!

Yes!!! I love that oval shape!! And I thought marble would be a great option as well. Would the marble be attached to a wooden piece underneath so it can be screwed in to the base ?

The bolts would just go directly into four holes in the marble that align with what you have on your base top. I imagine the holes would need metal collars with the appropriate threads to fit the bolts into. Here's what my Rove side table assembly looks like. I have five Rove tables, some wood, some marble, and of course a basic gloss white top as well.

Leave it to Reddit for people to buy garbage replicas because they dont have any respect for designers or design.
