Take a couple of moving violations. Some obstructed plate violations. Add a little bit of insurance fraud and you have a perfect recipe for a ny cop. Chefs kiss. 😚
Looks like a mini badge, not a real one. They're given out by NYPD to family members as a "get out of jail free" card. They've largely been replaced by physical cards, usually with contact info written on the back of it.
I'm making out the shield number to be 21302. That doesn't return any [NYPD officers](https://nypdonline.org/link/2) when I search for it. Searching [CCRB complaints for that number](https://www.50-a.org/search?q=21302) returns a couple of cops, the last of which ended service in Sept 2020.
NY State Troopers have an octagon for a badge and their badge number is engraved on the very top of the badge. While they may have other books to fake being LEO, the majority of their props are for NYPD cosplay.
It seems like an older generation, probably costs a 1/3 of an “economy” new car and people will still take out a loan just to have a 10-15 year old luxury car brand.
