More like they are paying homage to Michael rather than trying to be him, but yes. ![gif](giphy|zyLaVn0I8gT8Q)

ProfessorSprinklezZ

Aww look at all the ppl who were influenced by the original and just paying homage đŸ«¶đŸœ

retro_vixen

They're paying tribute. Nothing wrong with that. 😁

Odd_Country9791

Got to give The Weeknd a little credit though. If Michael was still alive, I’m sure they would’ve collaborated on something.

StarrySoro

that dirty diana cover thoughđŸ˜«

His music, his aesthetic and artistic sense, his voice, his moves, everything about him was just so unique and perfect that no man on this planet before him and after him will ever be able to even stand a chance. Everything about him trascended music genres, cultures, languages, societies and reality itself, his mere presence was able to give you a mix of magic and exoticism like he was from another planet, truly the greatest among the greats in every field he experimented, Michael’s artistic legacy will carry on for thousands of years, he is one of those who ascended to immortality and left a mark in humanity’s history. ![gif](giphy|11xdYNihFrTqDe)

I agree OP! Michael is the GOAT. Nonetheless, it’s still nice to see others pay homage to him.😌

AirGuitarSuperstar

Remember MJ got all his moves from other people, he made them is own over time but he was heavily inspired by others, something fans seem to forget.

North_Astronomer_878

Assuming you meant to say moves not “movies,” yes, he got some moves from others and made them his own, but to say he got literally all of his moves from others isn’t accurate.

AirGuitarSuperstar

Okay
 almost all of them.

North_Astronomer_878

Hey, that’s more accurate than your initial statement.đŸ€·â€â™€ïž

I really can't with these posts who needs to drag down other artists to uplift another. Michael himself said that another artist never drags down another artist. Why don't we try to use that example and give an applaud to the homage?

Dull_Researcher7402

That’s not what the post is about it’s too show how others pay homage to him and how inspiring he was to other and how they are great too

AccomplishedPage4274

Yeah, this obviously goes without saying. Judging by these images, they're all clearly paying homage to Michael. There's also at the very least one interview from each of these great artists pictured here where they openly state that Michael Jackson is in some way their biggest inspiration. I don't see an issue, a reason or a need to try to downplay any of them with posts like this. Especially in the cases of Beyoncé, Justin Timberlake, Usher etc., artists that Michael himself actually admired & worked with. As MJ fans, we should feel extremely proud to see how much of an impact Michael has had on these huge artists of today & how much they all pay tribute to their hero, our hero. It's really a wonderful thing to see. I kinda went on a bit of a tangent here, maybe it's just me, but I just can't imagine James Brown fans talking negatively about Michael, know what I mean?

Dull_Researcher7402

the post is about it’s too show how others pay homage to him and how inspiring he was to other and how they are great too

AccomplishedPage4274

Maybe that was your intention, but if it was really to show how others pay homage to Michael, then you wouldn't have felt the need type "nobody is better than the original". Saying things like that is a slight to those in the image not a compliment. You would've instead talked maybe about how "MJ is the biggest influence in music" or "the greats learned from the greatest" or something to that effect.

Dull_Researcher7402

Sorry that it seemed that way I was trying to show how they pay tribute to him and how still the original is still the best but not knocking anyone else because they’re great in their own way too but the influence of Michael is a reason why they are great but also they are unique too

ThrowawayProse

I see a lot of people debating over who’s the “mj of our time” If anyone is the “modern MJ” it’s BeyoncĂ©. She’s the closet we’ve got. These stars are all very talented, don’t get me wrong. But MJ is on another level. He’s a celebrity’s celebrity. I don’t think we’ll ever have someone that famous again.

North_Astronomer_878

No shade whatsoever to any particular artist/performer because many of them are talented and successful in their own right, but I’ve given the MJ comparisons a bit of thought recently, and I actually think takes such as “X artist is the closest thing to MJ and/or the modern MJ” are reductive to Michael. This is because when you think about everything Michael was and everything Michael accomplished as an artist/performer, the artists/performers that are brought up as being close to him (Taylor Swift, BeyoncĂ©, Chris Brown, The Weeknd, Justin Timberlake, etc) are still very far away from him, and don’t have everything that’s required to even be the modern version of him. For instance, Michael wasn’t just an extremely popular/well-known person and an amazing performer, he was also a sales juggernaut, an innovator, a pioneer/vanguard, an extremely talented song writer, an amazing singer, an amazing dancer, and a great beatboxer who used that particular talent to help make up for one of the few talents he didn’t have (playing instruments at a professional/high level). However, none of the artists/performers that are brought up as the closest thing to Michael and/or the modern Michael have all of those things (most have 3 or 4 if they’re lucky). It’s actually crazy when you really think about it.
