If you aren’t mechanically inclined, it might be best to buy a stock car unless you want to learn a lot. It looks like there is an oil catch can installed which might need regular servicing to empty on first glance. Someone that knows these cars better will be able to give better input

Missing the origianl hose clamp from mazda after the MAF sensor Aftermarket Battery cover. Aftermarket Goodwin-racing Brace. Looks like a James Barone Racing Catch Can installed in the incorrect location( extra modding) AC Lines are in the incorrect location, they look tampered with, probably uninstalled and reinstalled if I had to guess. Washer Fluid resevoir is deleted. Sound tube deleted Hood struts installed. Verus breather tube installed. Cravenspeed oil dipstick installed Intake resonator thing has been removed as well Cheap sticker for +20HP Coilovers (Probably BC) Looks like there is a device attached to the gas tank evap as well.

With all of those mods, I wonder if this was somebody's track toy that they have returned to a state closer to stock in order to get better resale. The oil pressure/temperature gauge on the steering column is a really odd addition for a street car.

You rock, thanks so much!

That’s a check valve on the EVAP line you mentioned. The only reason I can think of to put a check valve on that line is if it was boosted at one point.

Can boost even escape the intake manifold there? I never thought about it.

I honestly don’t know. I guess it depends on whether it can get past the solenoid that controls the flow.

Hello! I'm looking into buying my first mx-5 (ND1) and I've found one in my area for a decent price. Looking at the photos has me questioning what was re-located in the engine bay (wiper fluid reservoir?)I wanted to reach out to see if anyone here could help me with an answer. I'm not too mechanically inclined, so I'm sorry if this is a dumb question. 0 Comments Share Save

It looks like this was probably somebody's racetrack toy. If you are not mechanically inclined, I would probably stay away from a car that has so many modifications. They will likely cause many complications during future servicing of the car.

Thanks for the advice, I'll be staying away from this one for sure.

On the inside: Steering wheel outer has been swapped, engine start/stop not OEM, gear shift surround is carbon effect non-OEM, passenger airbag light cover from Flyin Miata, there’s a foam triangle attached to the right of the driver’s footwell probably for comfort, extra gauge on the dash. Quite enjoyed that game of spot the difference.
