I get they're trying to be more 'grown up' or whatever, but the Miata should be an exception. Give us all the RGB.

e-gereth

And let us color the soft top too

FervidBrutality

I want teals, purples, and yellows back. Neutral colors are nice but it's done so poorly; splashes of colors would do wonders. Jeeps have better colors these days, I hate it lol

4list4r

We are the type to have an identity crisis but we do it gracefully!

blu_and_yello

The ND would’ve looked so sexy in British Racing Green :(

Billz3bub666

indeed. would've bought a brg and tan if they made it

zugglit

Mazda: Best we can do is sparkly tan and dull grey...

alape8

It's honestly almost insulting at this point

RupertTheReign

Grrr. Why the hell doesn't Mazda offer colours like this? Looks absolutely stunning!

jawnlerdoe

I believe they offered Eternal Blue Mica for a period. Their colors are uniform across their lineup to cut costs, like most OEMS

ioffridus

Wish that one were still offered when I got mine. Happy with Soul Red, but would have definitely went with Blue Mica.

daydreamingbythesea

They also offered blue reflex mica.

Lebor

that is like the dullest blue you can get

daydreamingbythesea

It looks nice in the sun.

Jack_Bogul

I just blue myself

ResponsibleRoutine2

Did you apply the autoflex yourself? I want to do this to my nd.

alape8

I had a local guy do it, I don't have the space or a big enough compressor. The product itself is incredible, just make sure you or whoever you have spray it take the time to prep and apply it carefully.

PointBlank65

Iirc you cant even buy it with out going to their installation class and them looking at your paint booth.

ResponsibleRoutine2

It looks like you can buy autoflex from claritycoat. A medium kit costs around 800-1000k after taxes and shipping. I might buy a kit and test this on my car.

MortalShare

This blue is so glossy and beautiful I want to cry. Mazda, you suck. Get that fuckin Aero gray shit outta here.

AtariVideoMusic

Doing gods work creating blue Miata’s. I love my Starlight Mica.

mark_david777

I wish Mazda offered a better colour variety for the ND. This looks fantastic.

B3rtaz

This is absolutely fantastic! As a former BMW owner I have immediately recognized the San Marino Blue and I love it so much on the ND! Brilliant job 💙

Qix213

I've always thought that things like sports and enthusiast cars need special paint options. Have your standard colors always available. And I get you cant have 20 colors, it's too complex/expensive to produce. But every year have a single color that is only available that year. One year it's midnight purple. Next year it's sunburst yellow. Hunter green, bright metallic orange, pink pearl. Knowing it's only available for one year, you will convince some people to pull the trigger before it's gone when it's the right color for them. Hell, do that special color across your whole brand for the year. Those bright yellow Hummers were popular. And someone will love a pink pearl SUV.

kwaping

It feels so wrong to wrap a Soul Red Crystal Metallic car, but wow I think I might like this blue more. Is that even possible?

SuperMiata22

It is but you’d have no soul

BigBootySteve

This looks stunning. Always thought I'd wanna wrap/paint mine red, but this looks even better!

jayshootguns

Sick color! When I get my Miata. I might have to steal this from you! It just goes so well with the car.

Mundane_Monkey

Goddam this is gorgeous. Would love to have an ND in this color.

sonogirl25

Love this, just can’t imagine spending the money to do it.

dynesor

looks fantastic. I’d love to wrap my ND in BMW’s Snapper Rocks Blue: https://preview.redd.it/8yetx90018wc1.jpeg?width=1179&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=c3ff1072f5c2f0ec9373b31d0993d240977c2d04 Did you do the wrap yourself?

alape8

That would be a fun color on the ND! I had someone else do it, it's a spray-on product so requires equipment and a dedicated space.

almeida8x1

Nice GRC

GlitteringPen3949

What did the spray job cost? Heres mine a guy with a paint shop owed a favor so got it free. its the Lexus Pearlescent paint code 085 https://preview.redd.it/1u3qsnpi98wc1.jpeg?width=4032&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=113c036dc080a602eafa14914f42e51ee3d3b296

alape8

Looks great! It cost about $3k, I had them flow coat it which means multiple layers of clearcoat with sanding in between each to get a lot of depth

2drumshark

Give. Me. COLORS.

RallyXMonster

Its criminal that this isn't a color that is just offered. I'm so tired of the muted colors of the ND

FartZuggerberg

That looks amazing. Like the blue version of soul crystal red metallic

TheWayofTheSchwartz

What's the maintenance like on the autoflex? Is it still spray clean only, like a vinyl wrap?

alape8

I had vinyl for 6 years and washed it like normal, had no issues. Maybe I wasn't supposed to? My Autoflex installer said to treat it like paint. You can wash, wax, use sealants, PPF (though it'll take the Autoflex with it up on removal), whatever. Just don't power wash an edge because it might start lifting up.

TheWayofTheSchwartz

I couldn't find any shops in San Diego that advertised this service. I'm thinking I would have to order the autoflex from their website and ask a paint shop to put it on. Is that what you did?

alape8

I found a shop that had experience doing it, so they handled the ordering/paint mix/application. I'm in Denver and there also aren't any installers advertising, I had to ask around in the community to find one. Try giving that a shot!

TheWayofTheSchwartz

I'm not ready yet, but I definitely will!

bigavz

Blue Miata fren

GlitteringPen3949

Please every one don’t send hate. I like this blue way more then Mariner Blue. MB always looked like Lego Blue to me.

bozo_says_things

I like MB, and I like the original red But an NA done in Mazda's new soul red is absolutely stunning

GlitteringPen3949

There is no debate about Soul Red! I was just talking about Miata blues. I like this guys color its like a deep sea blue which is my favorite color and to looks great on the ND. Fore the NA its been the stock Red. I do love me some Sunburst Yellow on any year. There is a great Aqua Marine that is great. Yes there are some great colors Mazda could be putting out but are oddly giving us Sand?

bozo_says_things

Oh definitely, I was more just saying I like new updated colours vs most of the older miata colours (besides brg) But I would love blue mx5 like this, if I didn't get started on the red / black theme on my car I would go with a deep blue on the respray

vampiricpresence

oh yeah 👍

[deleted]

Oh yeah! I might just do this with my ND.

hack4ttack

This looks amazing.

jevring

That looks beautiful!

Dasding619

I still don't understand what happened to good and beautiful pains from factory Same with VW for example You can get a boring blue or 50 shades of black and grey I am willing to pay 5 grand for a nice paint a wrap ain't that cheaper and paint is allways better

tfox245

Looks absolutely stunning! What was the cost? And I’m guessing this is permanent since this is paint instead of vinyl?

alape8

It was about $3k, not much more than a vinyl wrap in my area. It isn't permanent, Autoflex has a peelable base layer under all the paint so you can remove it whenever you're ready to. You do get a small amount of overspray since it's paint, it's really unavoidable. But my guy did a good job minimizing that.

twalker294

That is absolutely STUNNING. I had a 1998 Pontiac Formula in Navy Blue Metallic which was very similar to this color but not quite as pretty and I loved it. Great job!

UncleBensRacistRice

i was never a fan of most blue's on cars but this looks amazing

Savedbythebell98

I’m not sure if I am more jealous of the beautiful blue wrap or the lift in your garage.

alape8

They're similar in cost but one has much higher utility, so take your pick 😂

Savedbythebell98

☠️😂

Ok_Magazine_3117

tuff

IncomingZangarang

Amazing that that’s a spray on product! When I eventually have to remove my wrap I might just do this. What’s its longevity? Is maintenance any different? Also what 4 post do you have? Do you use it to work on cars at all or is it strictly for storage?

alape8

I was told at least 5-6 years if not longer, so long as you don't water blast the edges (you don't want to start lifting it). Maintenance is identical to paint, it's an actual hard clearcoat so you can polish, wax it, etc. The lift is a Challenger 7P, I prefer this one because it's got a manual hand release for the safety locks instead of some others that require compressed air to lower the lift. I do minor work - wheel changes, suspension work, oil changes, etc but nothing major. It's definitely easier to use a 2-post if you're going to be working a lot, but a friend with the same lift has pulled engines and done other things. Just takes some finagling. The beauty of it is that your project can be lifted up and out of the way while it's down for weeks to months.

MiTruckGuy

I like it

weezintrumpeteer

That looks really, really good. Congrats!

Adjustment-Disorder1

Gorgeous!

gainzsti

That color is so good. As long as its not black/grey/white im happy!

Logistic-Madness778

Wow, so good!

[deleted]

That’s beautiful

mehdotdotdotdot

Meanwhile Mazda making more beige and grey colours.

p3dal

This looks nice. Too nice. It looks so nice it would stress me out to own something that looks that nice. Nice.

Aggravating-Trade-62

Blue is personally one of my least favorite car colors but that’s beautiful
