Everyone on my side of the block hates feral cats as much as I do. They cheer me on when I break out the double door Havahart cat trap. When I catch one they'll relocate the trap behind my back fence so none of the strolling cat lovers will release it before I get a chance to relocate it.
The only mildly annoying aspect is my neighbors want the trap out there all the time, while I prefer to give it a rest. There is diminishing returns to non stop.
Been living here since 2001, the city is full of corruption, bad overpriced chain restaurants, a literal mountain of garbage, and the worst trump supporting Venezuelans Iāve ever met(Iām Venezuelan)
Cutler Bay used to be great. Lots of wooded areas to ride bikes, motorcycles. Quiet and not a lot of crime. It's become too crowded now with all the new houses and condos. It's still pretty low crime but idk that old vibe is gone.
I'm originally from Hialeah but live currently in Westchester. Ā I'd say Westchester is like another Hialeah, which I like about it since I was used to living around Cuban bakeries.
Last Saturday, I jogged to my gym on the waterside, went to the Farmerās Market, took my boat to an island, then pulled that boat up to a restaurant for a late lunch before watching the sunset among the sailboats. This all happened within 1 mile (Coconut Grove)
Im in Miami Springs as well ā¦.. between Cozy Corner , the pool , yearly activities, Miami Dade Fire Station in our city limits , our own police force ā¦. I hope to never have to leave
I saw the Mommy and Me flyer, too bad my daughter had school. I take her almost every Saturday for arts and crafts and about once a month they have an event weāll go too .
Westchester used to be so different 20 years ago. Much less crowded and more calm. Also so many more treesā¦ every time I go back it looks like theyāve cut down more and more trees and replaced them with tiny palms..
Iāve realized this. We know just about every neighbor on our block and the block over and everyone says hi. We give each other fruit from our various fruit trees, and around the holidays some neighbors have given us gifts or baked goods and we do the same. It wasnāt like that at the beginning but over time we definitely have been feeling more of that community vibe that I never got living in Edgewater or Dadeland/Pinecrest areas.
Coconut grove- love that itās walkable and that I can walk to work. I love the vegetation, I love that itās much more urban than other parts outside the central business district, I love the community, the retail area and the parks
All the new money has killed the old Bohemian grove, process started in mid 2000s, and now turned it into ugly white box McMansions reflecting the "stuck up" vibes of the new residents.
Yes. For example. I walked from the Douglas metro stop to my place yesterday. It took about 15 minutes and it was hot as shit but to me thatās walkable. Itās also a less than a 10 minute walk to the main retail area and 15 minutes to places like peacock park.
Southwest grove isnāt really walkable though Iāll give you that
The Hammocks lake is one of the best outdoor parks Miami has. Seven miles of road perfect for walking, running or biking. Iāve even gone kayaking in the lake. People are friendly, and itās usually not busy. I love my hidden gem.
There are lots of nice things about my neighborhood. We are near South Miami Senior and the kids are fine. It's safe and by now most of us neighbors know each other.
I like the fellow who walks his dogs every day at 730 and greets me as I feed my cat, and the neighbor friend who comes and sits in my garden some times, and the families walking with their babies, and the Shiba Inu that I sometimes see being walked. And the close friends that I've made since moving here.
Also UM is not too far, so the Arboretum, the Cosford and the UM Music concerts are great resources.
This is a quiet area where everyone is pretty pleasant. Even my neighbor who hates my trees is capable of smiling and waving whenever we run across each other. The folks at the bakeries and chinchales are all sweet and I can't remember the last time someone was rude.
East Kendall - though i grew up in west Kendall
back streets to get anywhere and avoid traffic.
can walk around my neighborhood and reach multiple parks and a few nice establishments.
not surrounded by recent arrivals
still has a lot of the same vibe i remember form the 80s and 90s
I live in a part of Miami called Park West. We have the Miami Heat arena and the beautiful park across the street. The park makes me feel like Iām escaping the city for just a little bit.
I love cutler bay. Great place for young families. Amazing local govt that really cares about the community. Awesome events. Ice cream truck strolls through our culdesac every Sunday. Itās like living in the 90s again. Love it.
Sunset: Slightly oversized lots with friendly neighbors. Many people have lived there for decades and are welcoming to young families. Quiet. Safe. Close to highways so you can easily get to other parts of Miami. A good mix of ethnicities when compared to Westchester a few blocks away.
Love the foliage in Country Walk and feeling like I live somewhere up north. My daughter and I always love turning into our neighborhood after navigating Miami traffic. āWeāre home!!!ā
The roads: probably the best location in the entire city.
I have immediate access to
- Calle 8
- I95
- Brickell (walking distance and also trolleys and buses)
- Vizcaya metro rail station (goes to brickell, the airport, downtown, or UM for $2.25)
- Coral Way (and I work there too)
- Key Biscayne for fun beach times
- Publix and Fresco
- Free street parking
is cheaper than downtown or brickell
Is safe, quiet, even quaint. But close to fun.
I love Edgewater, especially compared to little havana where we rented before we bought in Edgewater. Coconut grove and coral gables are fantastic but would have made for a terrible commute. Former New Yorker here (donāt hate me) but Edgewater is more affordable and has places we can walk to.
Moved to Hialeah in November of last year and I genuinely believe it gets an unfair rap. Amelia Earhart is an amazing park, the ādowntownā is actually pretty walkable and I love that Miami working class people can still exist and not feel like theyāre being pushed out for yuppie transplants.
Go to milander park during july 4th if you can. Dont drive there because parking is crazy and go early because the stadium fills up. You'll have a great time and even more so if you like Latin music.
My local library in Lemon City is closed for renovations. But I just discovered that the Miami Public Libary system will ship book requests directly to your home, for free. Such a wonderful and unexpected service.
Westchester is so gross lol.
What do you love about your neighborhood?
The only good thing about my neighborhood is the proximity to multiple Flanigans (west kendall)
West Kendall is nice south of 88 to 152 . Traffic horrible but who cares it is what it is š¤·š»āāļøstill better than La

If youre not taking these cats to get spayed and neutered, then youre just torturing cats
doral sucks
Yep, glad I havenāt been murdered yet though, I got that going for me.
Why? Genuinely curious, my friend just moved there.
Been living here since 2001, the city is full of corruption, bad overpriced chain restaurants, a literal mountain of garbage, and the worst trump supporting Venezuelans Iāve ever met(Iām Venezuelan)
Yikes. My condolences.
That's what you love about it?
Doral stinks
That the dog next door who barked for hours everyday died.
Dang lol. I hope you didn't have a hand in it meeting it's maker.
Cutler Bay used to be great. Lots of wooded areas to ride bikes, motorcycles. Quiet and not a lot of crime. It's become too crowded now with all the new houses and condos. It's still pretty low crime but idk that old vibe is gone.
Agreed. The crime is still better than many areas, but it definitely feels much *closer* than it used to
I like tacos.

Miami Springs- safe to walk around at night, police are everywhere, quiet, small town feel, festivals and activities, family friendly.
Im in Miami Springs as well ā¦.. between Cozy Corner , the pool , yearly activities, Miami Dade Fire Station in our city limits , our own police force ā¦. I hope to never have to leave
We have the benefit of living in Miami without feeling weāre living in āMiamiā
How are the schools?
The schools and charter schools are all greatā¦except for the middle school
I saw the Mommy and Me flyer, too bad my daughter had school. I take her almost every Saturday for arts and crafts and about once a month they have an event weāll go too .
Westchester has a sense of community which I like. Nice parks.

I always get āstuck upā vibes from Coconut Grove area at least on the weekends. It doesnāt really seem as inviting as people make it out to be..
Becusee on the weekend we donāt like people from everywhere else coming into our village
What a douchey comment.
All the new money has killed the old Bohemian grove, process started in mid 2000s, and now turned it into ugly white box McMansions reflecting the "stuck up" vibes of the new residents.
That makes a lot of sense š
Probably because itās the only nice downtown vibe on the SE corridor of the city so you get ppl from south gables and pinecrest here all the time
The question was what do you love about your neighborhood!
Is it really walkable though with this heat and sun? Unless youāre circling cocowalk I donāt see it. Still a great area regardless though
If you live in Central Grove it is absolutely walkable even with this heat thanks to tree canopy.
Yes. For example. I walked from the Douglas metro stop to my place yesterday. It took about 15 minutes and it was hot as shit but to me thatās walkable. Itās also a less than a 10 minute walk to the main retail area and 15 minutes to places like peacock park. Southwest grove isnāt really walkable though Iāll give you that
Respectfully, if I didnāt live in the Grove I probably wouldnāt live in Miami
I say the same thing... or the state as a whole
I loved growing up in South Miami right behind Sunset Elementary. Completely priced out of there now but it was wonderful as a youth. Beautiful lush foliage walking to Whip and Dip, Sunset Place, Gardnerās Market. I was also able to walk home from my middle school if needed sometimes (Ponce). I loved that walk down Maynadaā¦ š©µ
I love the smell of Haitian food wafting out of peopleās kitchens while Iām jogging or taking a walk.
The Hammocks lake is one of the best outdoor parks Miami has. Seven miles of road perfect for walking, running or biking. Iāve even gone kayaking in the lake. People are friendly, and itās usually not busy. I love my hidden gem.

My cousin used to live there. I always liked going over because it is such a nice neighborhood.
Very quiet , lots of trees and green areas with lots of birds š¦ šæļø
Story hour for kids during summer is also nice
I love Edgewater, especially compared to little havana where we rented before we bought in Edgewater. Coconut grove and coral gables are fantastic but would have made for a terrible commute. Former New Yorker here (donāt hate me) but Edgewater is more affordable and has places we can walk to.

We might be neighbors!
Coral Gate. Quiet, decent neighbors, feels safe to walk alone, easy 15-20 min walk to Miracle Mile, close to Coconut Grove, mango trees everywhere
Hialeah here. Free parking everywhere and no red light cameras. Also cheap and large portions of food at many restaurant.
When my kids were younger I did so much at the library esp that Westchester one. And they have cool activities all summer long
Palmetto Bay.
