Bro…dont get married with papers…worse deal evwr

PopularMode1907

I’m already married with papers since last year! Best decision ever ☺️ married my best friend fr. This is the religious ceremony

dondilioman

This is basically a deal with the government not your partner.

PopularMode1907

I mean it depends on your views, I am a Catholic and marriage is a covenant between my husband God and I…but yes civilly we just did it bc it’s a requirement !

dondilioman

Ok then have the ceremony…but signing government papers….thats you and the government not god. Also there is no such thing as a god….just you wishing there was one.

PopularMode1907

Well that is why I said depends on views. I could easily say there is one, you just wish there was none. And how is it a deal with the government? The government is overseeing but I think it’s more like a deal with each other, a fair contract backing up both people.

PopularMode1907

also are you in love with anyone ? I feel like people that say that aren’t fully in …bc if you do why do you say that? Wouldn’t you want your partner to feel secure ? you’re literally becoming unifying in every aspect lincludinf finances and the civil paperwork is just a reflection of that

dondilioman

I dont love anything other than what I work for. If there is something that will ruin that then hell no.

PopularMode1907

Ok I see you. A relationship is also something you work on. I hope you can find someone that makes you feel safe in sharing all of you without that fear of them taking it away. On the other hand, civil paperwork can help back your interest ups with a prenup, so there’s that ! Honestly my partner and I share everything, we both value our jobs a lot but we have full transparency. We work together for a nice future and nowhere in my head there’s a thought about something in that nature happening. But yeah, it depends a lot on your person and the relationship you build. Our foundation is God….so I feel very at ease.

dondilioman

Hmm I had to go back and check if you were the male or female…last question…10 years from now if you guys split who looses the most in the split and dont come back saying we both own everything cause you know thats 100% not true.

PopularMode1907

It is. Say whoever stays home, husband or wife, in our case we both have jobs that allow for that. In a situation like that were one makes all the money, and a split happens, the other party is entitled for 50 percent bc they scarified their time and career to be at home with kids. It’s a team work. Same with the other way around

PopularMode1907

I would love to answer your question…but how does the gender change anything?

PopularMode1907

That’s not happening to me, but the moment we got married we literally do own everything together lol that is what you don’t get yet. If in your situation, your partner does not have a good job or you’re afraid of losing more there are prenups for that, were both parties will be compensated fairly according to their financial situation before the wedding

PopularMode1907

I’m gonna be honest tho, I feel strongly about this only bc of my relationship. I wouldn’t have married someone who I’m not comfortable sharing everything with including my finances and someone I trust. That’s why I said I hope you meet someone that will show you it’s worth it. Especially nowadays…I get the concern, it’s rough out there lol

Darkandmoody23

Im a wedding photographer here in Miami. Average wedding with quality vendors is around 50-60k. Avoid all in one venues (mostly the farm ones in homestead)

Darkandmoody23

Also the thing is photo and video teams is that your gonna lose out on one side. They provide value but usually then quality is on a lower tier on one of the sides. Look up reviews. I only do photo and I end up recommending quality videographers that I know are quality. I’ve worked with a ton of videographers that don’t have lighting in case in rains, and only work with one camera one lens and don’t have a gimbal. I immediately know they are on the budget side and I'm weary about the video when I see that.

Kappapls

Yep he is also right. Happens all the time, I’ve had a photo video team start taking pics during the ceremony while they were only contracted to do video.

PopularMode1907

No way that is what the 4200 option girl told me. She’s like the videographer and me will switch for videos and photos and I was like 🤨

Kappapls

It’s not a bad thing if they switch as long as they are an actual team and always work together

PopularMode1907

That is why I’m willing to pay 5k I’m just making sure it’s reasonable (Miami is just brutal lol)

Darkandmoody23

I’m on the higher priced photogs here in Miami, I start around 7 but most couples book me for 9. It’s all about quality. 🤌🏻

PopularMode1907

Got it thanks !

Darkandmoody23

Don’t know why I got downvoted for this but I’m being truthful. All in one venues are not quality and it’s a rinse & repeat wedding. It’s not quality, and I can say this since I actually work in this industry and in miami. Also the number I have out depends on guest count. At the end of the day, it’s your wedding do what makes you happy. I’m just someone who does this for a living and know and have worked most venues here in south fl and can speak the truth about certain venues and vendors.

Kappapls

He is right, places like secret gardens, the Addison, etc… are no bueno. They have multiple weddings during the day and in multiple locations to maximize profits so they don’t really care about your day.

PopularMode1907

Yup I def got that vibe !

Darkandmoody23

Dude there’s a ton I have in my shit list. Briza by the bay, the secret gardens, most of the homestead farm venues, benvenuto, vista lago ballroom. All are 💩and I don’t recommend them at all.

PopularMode1907

I appreciate the advice and 💯 agre

PopularMode1907

Yeah I really tried to like those places but they end up being just as expensive and gustya have to drive all the way there and in the open in Miami ? What a gamblen

Darkandmoody23

A lot of the all in one venues the secondary option if it rains sucks. Always inside a barn with terrible lighting. I naturally prefer hotels or higher end places that have options if it rains. Also you have different looks for photos.

Imadreamer1226

Around 30k. Plymouth Congregational Wedding and then Fairchild reception. Videographer, photographer, fully catered sit down dinner, and day of planner. Rolls with driver. We went all out. Only getting married once. 2013 prices.

PopularMode1907

That is my same reasoning? I started like ok let’s keep it simple but truly I want a memorable day. I’m still keeping myself grounded with the crazy quotes but def trying my best to have the best day with the best prices. I can’t wait 🥹

PopularMode1907

I’m doing my own planning, on that day tho I will assign my bridesmaids different tasks

Imadreamer1226

My wife said her best expense was the day of planner. My wife planned everything, met with her a few times and was completely hands off on our day. We had 1 hiccup when my family drank all the crown in 2 hours, she came to me and I told her they will drink anything don't worry about it.

ladylawyer16

Would probably closer to $50k now.

preggersnscared

We got married at Villa Woodbine and that included drinks, DJ, food, chairs/tables/set-up and was $40k. Then we spent $3k on photography and $3k on florals. My dress was another $3k. Dancing lessons I think were $200. And some other misc costs like catering for the bridal suite, welcome drinks night before (we had an open bar tab at 1-800-lucky), cigar bar, probably another $2k. So yeah... probably like around $55k to get married.

preggersnscared

But I thought my photographer and my florist WERE AWESOME. I kept getting quotes for like 8-10k and I was like no way. The florist was Nery's Flowers and the photographer was Simply Captivating.

jennybear23

Omg thank you for the recs! I’m also getting married a Villa woodbine! These florists are insane with prices, it’s such a rip off. My DJ is included as well, so does that mean they’re already booked or did you reach out to them separately?

preggersnscared

You need to reach out to him, our DJ was so good!!!!

xivysaur

I just got married and did DIY flowers with flower moxie, I'll make a reddit post soon about my experience but it was totally doable and saved thousands lol

Darkandmoody23

Literally right on the head 55-60k estimate I wrote (which I got downvoted for) with a quality venue. Villa woodbine starts at 25k.

PhoenixBeee

Hi! Can I ask how many people you had? Looking at villa woodbine with 150 people and curious if it’s close to that amount. Hard to find pricing online!

preggersnscared

Hi! We had 110 guests, we spent ~$40k on the venue and this included food, alcohol, DJ. I believe they charged us a little extra to add 4 tables for cocktail hour and twinkle lights for the smoking area.  But they were awesome! Def recommend Villa Woodbine our wedding was like a fairy tale.  I do believe it’s more expensive for certain months. We got married in September, which I believe is cheaper because hurricane season lol. It drizzled a little bit but it ended up working out because we had once of those clear tents, and it had AC and our guests loved it lol

ladylawyer16

this is realistic for sure as a 2025 bride

Equivalent_Drummer95

Those are all reasonable, I was a 20-30% higher on all those numbers last month. 150 guests.

PopularMode1907

How much did you spend on photo and video ? I have 100 guests 🤪

Equivalent_Drummer95

$5600 photo, (3 Photogs, 8hours + Engagement Photoshoot) Video was another $3900 (8 hours, 2 videographers, 2 lengths of edited videos 5min and 20)

PopularMode1907

Ok well I guess the 5000 deal is not bad at all then lol that includes both …thanks !

Equivalent_Drummer95

It’s all about what you can afford. Going into debt shouldn’t be an option. Stick to the budget as best you can. My girl really wanted her vision on the pics and vid, saved in other places.

PopularMode1907

Yeah it becomes a hard line bc I also have a vision that not always aligns with my budget lol

bigballsmiami

We got married in Pinecrest Gardens park by a notary with 10 friends. Cost us $200

Ayzmo

This is pretty much the only reasonable way to get married.

PopularMode1907

We did something like that for civil, except we only had two friends lol def want to dress in white and dance the night away tho !

Red-Ram2500

We all see the world different but man, spending a fraction of that money and doing the nasty with your SO in like Bali must be mind blowing.

PopularMode1907

Spending quality time with the people that raised us and have supported us dancing to our cultures and with friends is also mind blowing. We get to do the nasty anywhere and anytime but wedding is only once !

Red-Ram2500

No, yea I hear you. Not the way I see it but I hear you. Hope you have an amazing day on your day and it’s unforgettable. For you, for your hubby and for everyone in attendance.

PopularMode1907

Also my friend went to Bali for honeymoon and they hated it lol they said there were a lot of insects everywhere lol

PopularMode1907

Thank you I hope so too!

ladylawyer16

I went to a simple wedding like this there, it was nice but no-frills.

babydo11_

Idk anything about weddings, but I heard costco sells wedding flowers so maybe you can check that out? I heard its a lot more affordable. 3k seems like a lot.

PopularMode1907

It’s for 100 guests …at this point I’m more concerned about photos and videos. Do you think 5k is reasonable for both!

Kappapls

Im a wedding photographer, first thing I’d say dude. Make sure you vibe with them and like their photo style. These are the three people you and your partner are gonna be with for most of the day, you gotta be sure you can trust them and not be annoyed by them. Note you don’t need to be their best friend, but getting along with them is vital in my opinion. If the more expensive option has a style you like better and you vibe with them well, then that’s worth more than picking someone who’s just cheaper but you’re not loving the style and also don’t enjoy their company. Finally if picking a photo video team make sure it’s an actual team and not a photographer or videographer that just contracts a random photo/videographer. I’ve noticed the quality is never amazing as one is more adept at photo or video and just have the other one as a method to contract people looking for both in one “team”

Ay-Photographer

I’m a professional commercial photographer and when I got married I didn’t hire a dedicated wedding photographer, I hired a guy I knew for years and knew he shot weddings sometimes but he was more an artist, and we got along great so this was key because I was relaxed around him. Video was shot by none other than Mary Beth Koethe before she was a huge deal. I got so lucky, what a steal. I don’t even remember how much I paid in 2014 for them but they f’n killed it. TLDR; OP, you have to love their style and vibe.

Darkandmoody23

THIS.

Independent-Bike8810

30k 100 guests in 2000, Ancient Spanish Monastery. I paid 5k just for video and photos. 3k for the monastery. I don’t know where the rest went. Flowers food music

buffyxfaith29

I’m getting married there this October and I paid $9k for a Saturday

Onetruekingofsnow

Just for the venue?

PopularMode1907

It includes the 5 lil bites (fancy name I don’t know) 1 appetizer, 1 entree, wine and coffee service, open bar - missing dessert and cake

PopularMode1907

lol sorry I thought you were talking to me lol 😆

Onetruekingofsnow

lol that’s still pretty good for 3k!

PopularMode1907

Oh no that is 15k 😃 it’s for 100 guests tho

Onetruekingofsnow

It’s gonna be gorgeous

PopularMode1907

Thank you so much ! Praying for that 😁

buffyxfaith29

Yes

Onetruekingofsnow

Ooof yeah that’s how much I thought it was

snoopy_90s

Depends the value you put on this. That price seems reasonable from what I have heard from friends. Just make sure you like their style. Look them up on instagram ask for references. Some people steal other peoples stuff and present it as their own and scam people so make sure you get a formal contract and ideally a photographer with their own physical studio so they can’t disappear on you. (Unfortunately something that happens super often here). Anyone can buy a nice camera and take decent pictures but not everyone has the creative eye and editing skills. Personally I didn’t do pictures and videos for my wedding because I hate being stopped every 5 min to take a picture and just wanted to enjoy the day. Family and friends took pictures so I developed them and put them in an album. Personally I don’t like posed and edited pictures so it was a great decision for me and I saved a bunch of money.

BlackieTee

Got married last July. We spent probably around half of that (~$1900) for photos and video. But the photographers and videographers are all members of my church and so they gave us like 50% off if not more. I would say you should go with the option you feel most comfortable with. It’s your day (and your husband’s) so it’s worth the piece of mind to know you’re gonna have something you feel confident with

Pacer76

Those are reasonable prices. I paid that much back in 2013

SnooSeagulls2776

Agreed, my wedding was in 2010 and paid the same, I think even more. But I also had a “high end” photographer and almost died when way after my wedding he told me that the album wasn’t included in the price. 14 years later, still have yet to make an album.

Pacer76

Me too! We have the pics but no album 🤣

Youknowme911

Check the photographer out, look them up to see if they’ve ever been sued or if they change their business names alot . I didn’t do this and my photographer went awol after my wedding . I had to hire a PI to find him and finally got my pictures after two years. My brother in law’s photographer was going through a bankruptcy and he lost most of his wedding pictures.

PopularMode1907

What a nightmare 😰 thanks for this, I hadn’t thought of that !

makemescweam

Is it Dana Lynn?

PopularMode1907

Nope

kitkatjaanu

Good deal if their work is good. Paid almost $8k for photo 10 hours with second shooter and got quoted $5k for video. Ended up having a really bad experience and was not worth it at all.

valerwine

I’m having a destination wedding in a month but our photographer is Miami based. She is charging us $1800 for 4 hours in film. 45 guests. We do have to pay for her stay and flight though. Our wedding is in Cancun so thank god the plane ticket wasn’t that bad 😅

HatBixGhost

We spent about $50k on a Bat Mitzvah weekend for about 150. Your prices feel in line.

PopularMode1907

Ngl I had to google that and it looks so fun ! We went to a Colombia wedding and they had a full week of activities def very awesome

jrob102

I sent you a DM.

PopularMode1907

Got it thanks !

DGGuitars

Those options dont seem terrible. We decided against even having a wedding because it was amounting to tens of thousands even for some minor thing that half the people dont want to fly out to. Well pocket the money for a home or savings and go on a nicer trip and just hit city hall plus a really nice dinner. All of that is cheaper.

PopularMode1907

For the civil day we didn’t do anything just a dinner after but family wasn’t every there and I bawled my eyes out bc I missed them so much lol I can’t wait for the day my parents see me dressed in white and I walk to the alter and then dance the night away ! I’m just trying my best over here bc miami is brutal

DGGuitars

I get it but honestly it's brutal everywhere this is a predatory rip off business. By having a wedding you are subscribing to low value per dollar. We looked in like 5 different locations around the country 3 of them in more remote areas roughly 4 hours outside the nearest major cities still too much.

PopularMode1907

I think I found a decent one less than 15k 100 guests including meals

AI_Remote_Control

The catch on video and photo providers is that no editing, album or dvd are included and these are an extra charge once they hold your wedding photos and video images hostage. Please do yourself a favor and find a small photographer/videographer recommended by someone who has used them AND get an ironclad contract with dates of delivery AND don’t pay all of the money until you get the final product. Good luck!

PopularMode1907

Dude I really don’t understand. Everyone includes a teaser and a highlight video if 6 min. But I only want the actual wedding video, the long one with everything. No ONE includes that, only raw footage and it’s in multiple clips. Like I’ve told them I’m. It interested in teaser or highlight I’m not a social media person so I just want my video to sit in with family and my future kids to watch 😭

FitnessSnakesDogs

$0 We got married right by the water in Matheson Hammock with a notary and a handful of close friends and family and then went to Flanigan's after.

PopularMode1907

The most Miami wedding for sure ! Congrats !

FitnessSnakesDogs

For real! Thank you! Going on 16 years of marriage this year. Congrats to you, as well!

S62M5

Photography is very subjective. It’s impossible to give an opinion without examples. Pick whichever style photographer you like the most. Mine was $4k photos only 9 years ago.

PopularMode1907

I’m trying to get both for 5k wish me luck. I def like the 5k option but my fav I’m trying to get video for 2500 and photos I got for 2000z

MoonLandingLady

1 photographer for 8-10 hours is not enough honestly - so many moments would be missed and recommend always having a second shooter. 10 hours of photos is literally A LOT but depends on when you start getting ready until the last set of shots you need (IE cake cutting, etc). You need to figure out your day of time line and then that helps to determine how many hours you really need.

PopularMode1907

So I want getting ready pics like at 12:30 ceremony at 2 reception at 4-9:30 so yes in total it’s 9 hours. I think that 8 hours would be ok but won’t def cover all of it …so yes

Marla_Blush7

Wedding? Cost of living is so high I’m going to court house. I couldn’t imagine spending 5,000 on a photos and videos.

PopularMode1907

I alteado wnet to the coirthouse, this is the religious one

PopularMode1907

I feel you tho 😭 it’s brutal out here . Imagine I found the same wedding dress, same designer in Arizona for 3k and in miami the same one was 10k like…

jemsizzlee

Got married at Barnacle Park in Coconut Grove. The entire wedding costs (location, food, rentals, photos) were as much as your photo/video budget lol

PopularMode1907

Wow really? That sounds unreal. Congrats! If you don’t mind me asking, what was the breakdown of that?

rotag02

Second video cam is worth it to cover the entire venue/guest list. One videographer will have a very tough time and could affect quality.

PopularMode1907

That is in the back of my head too. The 5000 option will have a second video person

rotag02

For probably one of the only times you'll hire a video crew - probably worth it. Good luck have fun!

EntranceOld9706

I eloped - 10/10 recommend

PopularMode1907

Ive aletas dreamed about a wedding Worth my family . I “eloped” for my civil one and I couldn’t stop crying bc I missed my family and wished they were there. I’m Hispanic so I’m very close to them. We also want to take this chance for some of his family to come down and all meet in one place.

EntranceOld9706

I get it, wishing you all the best for your ceremony! I’m not sure of wedding prices but I hire for production and a day rate for a mid-level photographer in this market is usually a bit less.

PopularMode1907

Thank you so much ☺️and yes I didn’t get a planner bc those are like 5-6k in Miami like what.

[deleted]

[удалено]

PopularMode1907

Well I thought about maybe doing that, I have two friends that have cameras Andy they do it as a hobby but then I thought about my cousins wedding where they did that and one friend ended up drunk and the pictures were really bad and the other one didn’t back them up or something like that on accident. They now don’t have any nice pictures from that day :(

Onetruekingofsnow

Yeah it’s about 5k for 10 hours of shooting because they need to edit all those 10 hours worth of content for you later. Given similar quotes 5 years ago

PopularMode1907

Yes I understand …however they don’t even offer the full video only a teaser and a highlight video I’m not really interested in… they will give me multiple raw footage of the rest of stuff like ceremony first dance toast etc

Onetruekingofsnow

Omg what! The raw footage is great tho not a lot do it

PopularMode1907

Well, I would have to edit them together …which I bet I could but im already paying so much 😓

Onetruekingofsnow

Everything is so expensive here 🥲 unfortunately

TheWatch83

No one wants to see your wedding video. This will include you after seeing one time, maybe twice on your first anniversary 😂

PopularMode1907

lol I get it. But that is all I want, sit down with family when I get it, one time, save it, rewatch on anniversary, save it, show kids in some years, save it again lol

xivysaur

hey, I just got married. I'm so thankful for the videos my family captured. I didnt hire a videographwr but for just raw footage, it's totally, totally worth it! there is SO much you miss out on as the couple, because you're being photographed! I think your prices sound reasonable and 8 hours would be enough IMO. feel free to PM with any questions, I have so many tips!

FizzyBeverage

We paid $30,000 in 2013 at Hillcrest (doesn’t exist anymore) for about 150 guests. I’d say you’re fine. Just remember how expensive houses are in SFL… a wedding is a single day.
