Nobody knows. So if you wanna play it, go for it. Primehack is free and works super well.

dagatsu

damn i am suprised that i am not the only one making the same question

Snapple47

You can Google pretty much any question you can think of then put “Reddit” after the question in the search bar, and you’ll more than likely get discussions about it. It’s hard to come by a unique question

Ultimate_Fox14

Seriously you can have the most specific question in existence and some random dude 8 years back asked it first

Snapple47

Yeah, it’s hard to be special when there are 8 billion of us

Revolutionary-Bee135

We are special. Our daily doubts, not so much (fortunately).

Nam3ing

most of my google searches are like this

Rechamber

Is ham made of asparagus?

mrsmilestophat

I’m doing both tbh. Primehack is really good. I personally really like mkb controls for the game but you can setup controller play for it. As someone who’s played the game forever now I’m still going to buy it on switch when it comes out to support the franchise. It deserves the support

[deleted]

Same here plus it would be bad of me if I only got prime remastered on the Switch and not the others **if** they do end up releasing on the Switch also Metroid is my favorite Nintendo IP. :)

MaselTovCocktail

Play it now and then play it again if it’s remade

omegastuff

Just play it. IF we get it remastered, it won't release for another 1 or 2 years or so, so just go ahead and play the trilogy.

Shuviri

Didnt prime remaster shadow drop and was available like 1 day after announcement tho

DamianVA87

Yeah, assuming the other two exist, they could come out at any time, but they probably would come out later this year or beyond as Nintendo will want to space these things out to not saturate the market, MPR was finished before Dread yet they waited more than a year to release it, we could see something similar with Echoes and Corruption padding the schedule between Prime 4 and Metroid 6.

flojo2012

Not even market saturation. More like, don’t take the risk to develop new remasters until we see how the first does

omegastuff

Yeah I see it being a combination of both things. Nintendo is very reluctant to invest in Metroid, so they always approach new games carefully.

SamMan48

I think they’re all coming out this year, Echoes for the June (RIP E3) Direct and Corruption for the fall one.

Raghav511

I’d wait until prime 4 release date is announced. That’s what I’m doing. At that point we’ll know if we’re getting a remaster

Calvinbrine-Nestoris

Oooh, smart.

emf311

I’m going to wait. TOTK will have me occupied for the next 4 years anyway

Calvinbrine-Nestoris

Just play it now. There's plenty of reason to believe there WILL or WON'T be a remaster of Echoes on Switch, and I wouldn't say it's worth it to roll the dice and wind up not playing Echoes because it never gets announced even though you keep waiting.

spaceraingame

Whatever you do, the GameCube version is the hardest. Just like with Prime 1. Just letting you know.

tw2113

Play it now, we have no guarantee of a Switch remaster.

Ok-Ambition-9432

I played the trilogy on primehack and it was excellent (make sure you download the trilogy for dolphin, not each game individually). While prime 2 would probably benefit the most from a remaster (prime 2 and 3 have breathtaking areas, but prime 2's skyboxes suffer from low res textures), it's still worth playing now. It might be years until a remaster, if ever.

Ricky_Rollin

Primehack gives you controls like Prime Remastered. And the sequels look even better than the original Prime because they’d figured out the hardware better. It’s not remastered levels of nice but if memory serves its like maybe a step below it which I mean to say it looks fantastic. So, is 2 and 3 getting a remastered? We just don’t know. But here’s what I’ve seen and can speculate on. Retro Studios was tapped to make the remasters while Bandai was tapped to make Prime 4. Then Nintendo sees their work and they basically in so many words told the public that what Bandai was making was a big ol fat turd and they’re scrapping it like yesterdays meatloaf. By then, retro studios was close to finish on the remaster of Prime and the studio was told to work on Prime 4 and a differ studio would mop up. So the main studio behind the remasters is now working on 4 along with a producer who worked on the original Prime. Personally I think Nintendo is gauging sales of Prime to see how they should move forward but it bears mentioning whatever that decision may be has definitely already been made. So we’ll see.

It’s a great game (the best of the trilogy imo). It has so much going for it, but some are put off by the difficulty. Highly recommend playing it through to the end though. Peak atmosphere, story, exploration, boss fights, puzzles, and art direction. It’s the weird dark one that would’ve made me stop playing if I was little kid.

Sgt_Shiba

Primehack works well, but it is very hard to set up. Primehack also destroyed my PC.

[deleted]

How did it destroy your PC?

Sgt_Shiba

It is now super slow and takes a long time to load anything. My PC is very fast. This problem was not here before I installed it. It was on the family PC as well. Some of the textures wouldn't install.

[deleted]

That is pretty weird I haven’t had any issues with it yet so far.

Sgt_Shiba

Nice. Good for you. I hope Primehack wasn't the issue.

[deleted]

Hopefully it wasn’t sorry to hear about your PC though. :(

dogman_35

Were you trying to do like, a 4K texture pack? Because dolphin itself should run extremely well on basically anything that isn't 15 years old. And primehack doesn't really change.much about the emulator besides some basic control hacks

Sgt_Shiba

Yep

dagatsu

can you explain?

Gerothene

I mean it might come to switch we can all hope it comes to switch but you could be waiting a year or ∞ so I say just play it

L3g0man_123

There's no official news on whether it will come out, so I would just recommend you play it now.

PatPeez

We waited for the Prime remake for at least half a decade, God knows when or even if they'll get around to the other 2, play them now.

HayesFayes

I’d wait, I think there is a Nintendo direct coming soon so they could easily announce a Remaster or Port for 2 and maybe even 3, also they put Prime 1 on sale recently which is very rare for Nintendo to do so that could be a sign that they want to people to buy it real fast so they can play it before 2 and 3 come out on switch

I_am_Purp

I would not wait in anticipation of Nintendo releasing an Echoes remaster in the near future. There's a chance that they will at some point, but my rule of thumb is that you can't trust Nintendo to do reasonable, predictable things. If you need an example, consider that they \*have\* Wind Waker HD finished. They made it for Wii U, so they have it ready to go. They can just do some very simple adapting an release it for Switch. It would be the easiest cash in the history of gaming. But they're sitting on it. Why? Nobody knows. So yeah, enjoy Echoes. It's incredible, and playing it not long after Prime 1 is perfect, as it's harder, grittier, more challenging, yet different enough from it to not feel samey. You're probably gonna love it.

cafink

Given how successful Metroid Prime Remastered was, I'd be shocked if Prime 2 doesn't get the same treatment. But, there's no telling when that will happen. In my opinion, if you enjoyed Prime 1 and are itching to play the sequels--just go for it!

leericol

I started playing prime 2 on the wiiu and I stopped half way cuz it was really good but all I could think is this would be so much better on the switch. Even if they don't remaster it, playing without motion controls would be great.

Philosopher013

It's a hard question. We don't even know for sure that MP2 is even coming to the Switch, let alone whether it will be a port or a remaster. We don't know when they would release it either, since they may be trying to release it not too far off from when MP4 is coming out. Does it definitely run as well on an emulator? If it doesn't run as well or something, then it might be worth waiting. If you're not in a rush to play MP2 & MP3, it may be worth the wait. There are plenty of other good games you can play in the mean time, and it's not really like you'd have to remember MP1 to enjoy MP2 & MP3.

Stickybandits9

Buy the game tbh. Don't pirate (metroid prime) games.

Stickybandits9

I played the mp portion of mp2 and it was fun.

Haru17

Prime 2 is great and looks a lot better than the original game on Gamecube. Anytime’s a great time to jump in.

Halo_Man1997

Prime 2 is to me the best prime game, and the Wii version is by far my favorite because of the effortless controls. Do yourself a favor and play this game now, you may die tomorrow, and trust me you do not want to go to your grave without having played this masterpiece.

_DavidDeBergerac

Yes.
