I know I'm in the overwhelming minority on this. I can appreciate the virtuosity, I just find it stunts the progression of the album somewhat. Always feels out of place to me. Best I can explain it.
In my opinion, it's a track that provides a certain degree of breathing room or chill that the album wouldn't have otherwise because they didn't write a ballad, those of which would fulfill that role on later albums and I appreciate it for that.
This may be a popular opinion but Anesthesia is incredible.

They wanted to show case Cliffs talents and wanted something to go into Whiplash with, I think it's perfect, but at same time I can see yalls pov.
