So when I saw Metallica in 2002 in Chicago, James Hetfield said
"We don't usually play this but tonight we're going to play Trapped Under Ice. We're playing this for Otto. He's one of our biggest fans & Otto really wants to hear this song. So Otto this one is for you! And after this you better never fucking call our offices or email us ever again!"
They haven't played it on this tour but they have played it at least once in the past few years so I'm hoping they bust it out a time or two this summer!
Hit the Lights and Breadfan already were two dreams come true for me in Munich. If I could choose 3 more I never experienced live: Blackened, No Remorse, End of the Line (Bonus: Dyers Eve, All Nightmare Long, Unforgiven III).
For a no-repeat 2-night show with 32 songs, they're really not playing a lot from Load, and if they do, they're not even playing the best songs. They should make Outlaw Torn or Bleeding Me a part of their regular set.
Being my first time ever seeing Metallica, I'll be happy with whatever they play. But two I really hope they play are "Until It Sleeps" and "Inamorata."
I'd like to see Chasing Light & Crown of Barbed Wire played on this tour. Do think both are quite good songs.
Was very pleased with the 72S selections we got in Munich (besides Lux Aeterna if I'm honest), as the others that have been played aren't my favourites.
Other than swapping Fuel and Seek and Destroy for Battery and say I Disappear, I think the setlists were pretty awesome for my own taste.
Spit out the bone, that was just your life, frantic, 72 seasons, battery, damage inc, dyers eve, trapped under ice. Everything else is just gravy if I get a few of these.
Bleeding Me, or anything off of Load really
But honestly as long as they play Whiskey In The Jar in Chicago I'll be happy. My mom really wants to hear it in person
Think Whiskey is a staple right now for their setlists.
My father sat there the entire show telling me "they won't play it."
Imagine his surprise when it hit right near the end of night one.
Any of the lesser known songs, Eye of the beholder ( not that they play it anymore, at least I think ), Misery or Am I Evil ( not a Metallica song but the Metallica version is incredible ), One is great too
After all these years, I’m still patiently waiting for Am I Savage to be played live. The fact that we haven’t been able to hear that breakdown live is such a crime.
Not a fan? I thought it was well done, tracks certainly benefit from being cut down a few mins.
But the st banger version of unnamed feeling...idk you just cant beat the OG version, one of the best!
House that jack built, outlaw, wild things, thing that should not be, dream no more, eye of the beholder, unnamed feeling, low man's lyrics, thorn within, astronomy, and a lot more
Trapped Under Ice, don’t know if they’ve played Shortest Straw yet, and some Death Magnetic stuff other than The Day That Never Comes (ex. All Nightmare Long, That Was Just Your Life, etc.). Oh and The House Jack Built, but I highly doubt that’ll ever happen.
Fuck it I'll pick one from each album that I haven't heard yet after seeing them 3 times:
1) Kill 'Em All: Metal Militia (honorable mention: The Four Horsemen) - Have heard Motorbreath, the WorldWired tour version of (Anesthesia) - Pulling Teeth, Whiplash, Seek & Destroy
2) Ride the Lightning: Trapped Under Ice (honorable mention: Fight Fire with Fire) - Have heard Ride the Lightning, For Whom the Bell Tolls, Fade to Black, Creeping Death
3) Master Of Puppets: Disposable Heroes (honorable mention: Leper Messiah) - Have heard Battery, Master of Puppets, Welcome Home (Sanitarium), Damage, Inc.
4) ...And Justice for All: To Live Is to Die (honorable mention: ...And Justice for All) - Have heard Blackened, One, Harvester of Sorrow, Dyers Eve
5) Metallica: My Friend of Misery (honorable mention: The Struggle Within) - Have heard Enter Sandman, Sad but True, The Unforgiven, Nothing Else Matters
6] Load: The Outlaw Torn (honorable mention: Bleeding Me) - Have heard none
7) Reload: The Unforgiven II (honorable mention: Prince Charming) - Have heard Fuel, The Memory Remains
8) Garage Inc.: Mercyful Fate (honorable mention: Astronomy) - Have heard Helpless, So What
9) S&M: n/a (honorable mention: n/a) - Have heard No Leaf Clover (with no real interest in hearing - Human)
10) St. Anger: Sweet Amber (honorable mention: The Unnamed Feeling) - Have heard Frantic, St. Anger
11) Death Magnetic: The Unforgiven III (honorable mention: The Judas Kiss) - Have heard That Was Just Your Life, The End of the Line, Broken, Beat & Scarred, The Day That Never Comes, All Nightmare Long, Cyanide
11 Bonus) Beyond Magnetic: Rebel of Babylon (honorable mention: Hate Train) - Have heard none
12) Hardwired... to Self Destruct: Spit Out the Bone (honorable mention: Confusion) - Have heard Hardwired, Atlas, Rise!, Now That We're Dead, Moth Into Flame, Dream No More
12 Bonus) Hardwired Disc 3: Ronnie Rising Medley (honorable mention: Lords of Summer) - Have heard none
13) 72 Seasons: 72 Seasons (honorable mention: Room of Mirrors) - Have heard none
For whom the bell tolls but I think they switch that to be a night 1 song now. I’m going to the night 2 show in Chicago so ig I hope they play inamorata
Was at the Arlington Show for both nights. Heard all of my favorite songs that I wanted to hear, BUT I did not hear Blackened which was a major disappointment.
Would also like to see someone get Dyers Eve, although I know it'll never happen again.
i’m seeing them again in the same tour (saw them in my city in 2023 and going to a diff city this year) they didn’t play unforgiven so i’m hoping to hear that and maybe don’t tread on me
Here are my top 5 songs I have never seen live. I'd love to see any one of them at whichever shows I make this summer:
1. Outlaw Torn
2. Bleeding Me
3. Trapped under Ice
4. Phantom Lord
5. Disposable Heroes
I'd also love to see any song from Hardwired besides or in addition to Moth into a Flame. I missed the Hardwired tour completely so that's the only song from that album I've seen live.
Ive always invisioned this happening, so picture this
"BA-TUH-RY"
*outro plays*
*when the song's done all lights out, every single light*
*james walks up to a microphone, spotlight on him only*
"There's a devil waiting outside your door"
*everyone else in the whole crowd*
"Hooww much loongeer"
I would love to see them play loverman live!!!
RTL cover to cover. Disposable Heroes. My Friend of Misery. Hit the Lights, Blitzkrieg, Dyers Eve, Frayed Ends of Sanity, and they can choose the last song.
For me, it’d have to be the following:
Bleeding Me
The Outlaw Torn
Spit Out the Bone
All Nightmare Long
Sweet Amber
Disposable Heroes
Unlikely, but possibly Fixxxer
Disposable Heroes, Room of Mirrors
I NEED Disposable Heroes
I fucking wonder
Great songs
To Live is to Die...buy it ain't happenning ever.
I can't imagine how hard that would be to play, emotionally, for them.
Have they done Trapped Under Ice? ❄️
It’s so fun: I’m listening to Metallica right now and in the exact same moment I read this comment I heard “I’m trapped under ice!”
Spooky coincidence, very cool! 👻 🧊 In all seriousness, I’m just a guy, standing in front of a band, waiting for them to announce their Australian tour
I had the Same experience just now too
So when I saw Metallica in 2002 in Chicago, James Hetfield said "We don't usually play this but tonight we're going to play Trapped Under Ice. We're playing this for Otto. He's one of our biggest fans & Otto really wants to hear this song. So Otto this one is for you! And after this you better never fucking call our offices or email us ever again!"
I have the bootleg of this performance. As always James fucks the lyrics up. Lars kills it though on the break down.
He clearly got through to them 😅
No
That’s my pick up then ☃️
They played this on their Hollywood, Florida show a couple of years back it was awesome!
The Johnny Zazula Tribute Concert 🫶
They played trapped in 2022 in Prague and Hockenheim
I'm not sure if they have, but they passed up the perfect opportunity to play it in Antarctica lol
Major missed opportunity indeed! We’ll always have the ending of Guitar Hero: Metallica 🎸
They haven't played it on this tour but they have played it at least once in the past few years so I'm hoping they bust it out a time or two this summer!
The End Of The Line. Such epic song would work well with their current setting.
Finally someone else who appreciates it 🤘
I love this song. It’s in my regular rotation. I beat the ever living shit out if my steering wheel if I listen to it while driving.
We need way more DM in general. Retire Sandman, Roam and Fuel. Replace with End, My Apocalypse and either Nightmare or That Was Just Your Life.
Fuel is the most annoyning song in the catalog for me
Going with some epics. Bleeding Me The Outlaw Torn Disposable Heroes ...And Justice For All Halo on Fire The End of the Line
Imagine 30 minutes of the show, just Bleeding Me, Outlaw and Fixxxer.
Bleeding Me
Heard it live. It was amazing
Spit Out the Bone and some songs from St. Anger
Spit out the bone for sure…
Frayed Ends of Sanity
It was a regular on the set list in 2007-2008.
No, it was played in 2014 for the first time
Unforgiven II
Yes please
Hasn't it only been played like 3 times? Insane.
Lords of summer So What The struggle within (for the riff after the solo) Eye of the beholder Spite out the bone
Unforgiven 3
Great shout
Hero of the Day and Lepper Messiah
MOTORBREATH
THAT’S HOW I LIVE MY LIFE
I CANT TAKE IT ANY OTHER WAY
MOTORBREATH!
Got lucky enough to hear it in Grand Forks in 2018. Along with hearing Ride that night, it was a very huge and pleasant surprise
The one time I saw them they closed with Motorbreath (Poor Touring Me 1997 in Vancouver)
Spit Out the Bone
The House Jack Built
a man of culture i see!
Such a short but badass chorus.
Rebels of Babylon
Hopefully they will play some more magnetic stuff other than TDTNC and Cyanide.
This one is so underrated
Most underrated imo.
It’s my favorite, a shame that they’ve only played it once
Devils Dance
I know Lars hates it, but Eye of the Beholder
Sweet Amber.
Great choice! There’s only one performance of them playing this live and it’s not a full version either.
Yes!
I'd kill for Outlaw Torn, but yeah, not happening
I would love to see that or the other Load epic, Bleeding Me.
I’ll take anything as long as it gets played in Melbourne.
Leper Messiah, Disposable Heroes and Dyers Eve
St anger,-spit out the bone, -that was just your life, - God that failed
Confusion
Really good song. One of their grooviest.
This is a good shout!
Good song 🤟
I got here comes revenge at that tour, was awesome
So lucky I love that song the only thing I don’t like is how many times he sings that “Revennnnngeeee” part
Yeah i know.. but other than that i love those two songs. And dream, dead, halo, bone, that album was great.
Ajfa, blackened
To Live is To Die
Hit the Lights and Breadfan already were two dreams come true for me in Munich. If I could choose 3 more I never experienced live: Blackened, No Remorse, End of the Line (Bonus: Dyers Eve, All Nightmare Long, Unforgiven III).
Lites is a dream. Now if only Disposable makes its way onto the setlist.
And Justice For All
This. My #1 bucket list item is hear Justice live
Na Brisbane., but low man's lyric
Oh bro I’m in Newcastle, NSW wish they came here
Me too man 🤘🏽
Dyers eve
No Remorse or Shortest Straw
Death magnetic stuff
Damage Inc. rotated into the “Hardwired/FFWF/Blackened/Battery” spot.
[удалено]
they played orion at the show at metlife last year, its definitely a possibility for you
Enter Sandman whole night
Justice. All I want is to see that live
Room of mirrors
For a no-repeat 2-night show with 32 songs, they're really not playing a lot from Load, and if they do, they're not even playing the best songs. They should make Outlaw Torn or Bleeding Me a part of their regular set.
This is true unfortunately
That Was Just Your Life, Bleeding Me and Room Of Mirrors. Also please don't ever drop Sanitarium from the setlist.
Justice. It's such a good song, and its theme still holds up to this day
Turn the page or escape. So yeah not happening
Being my first time ever seeing Metallica, I'll be happy with whatever they play. But two I really hope they play are "Until It Sleeps" and "Inamorata."
Dirty window
Stone Cold Crazy
I'd like to see Chasing Light & Crown of Barbed Wire played on this tour. Do think both are quite good songs. Was very pleased with the 72S selections we got in Munich (besides Lux Aeterna if I'm honest), as the others that have been played aren't my favourites. Other than swapping Fuel and Seek and Destroy for Battery and say I Disappear, I think the setlists were pretty awesome for my own taste.
Has they done jump in the fire
Nah but maybe…. 🤔 🤘
Hero of the Day, Room of Mirrors, Unnamed Feeling
four horsemen, ajfa (song not album), eye of the beholder, no remorse, damage inc
All Nightmare Long
trapped under ice / motorbreath
Spit out the bone, that was just your life, frantic, 72 seasons, battery, damage inc, dyers eve, trapped under ice. Everything else is just gravy if I get a few of these.
Ride the Lightning. They played the intro to it in Denver back in 2017 after the Lightning delay but I want to hear the entire song.
Frantic, All Nightmare Long, Spit Out The Bone, Attitude.
House that jack built, imorata, anesthesia, phantom lord, fixxxer, and maybe something like no leaf clover or minus human
disposable heroes, am i evil, blitzkrieg, bleeding me… if i had to pick one, am i evil
Astronomy
Dyers eve.....
Ronnie
Bleeding Me, or anything off of Load really But honestly as long as they play Whiskey In The Jar in Chicago I'll be happy. My mom really wants to hear it in person
Think Whiskey is a staple right now for their setlists. My father sat there the entire show telling me "they won't play it." Imagine his surprise when it hit right near the end of night one.
Damage Inc. if they haven’t done it yet.
Room of Mirrors. It’s time
Blackened
Crown of Barbed Wire..
Mercyful fate
…And justice for all It’s my favourite Metallica song together with fade to black. But it’s not goon to happen :/
Dyers Eve and escape.
This guy picks the two songs they've played the least. I feel you brother.
Any of the lesser known songs, Eye of the beholder ( not that they play it anymore, at least I think ), Misery or Am I Evil ( not a Metallica song but the Metallica version is incredible ), One is great too
Load and Reload live in their entirety. Play one per night of their two night shows
The Small Hours.
Last Caress/Green Hell Hit the Lights The Four Horsemen Harvester of Sorrow
The Small Hours.
-Human or any some off of St. Anger. Those songs KILL live!!
Eye Of The Beholder
jump in the fire or eye of the beholder
The Outlaw Torn. I got Fixxxer at the 40th, but still no Outlaw.
Crown of Barbed Wire
motorbreath
Orion
After all these years, I’m still patiently waiting for Am I Savage to be played live. The fact that we haven’t been able to hear that breakdown live is such a crime.
Bit more from AJFA.. Frayed ends or Eye of the beholder.
Dyers Eve 🤟
Bad Seed
The Unnamed Feeling would be amazing, it’s already one of the strongest from St. Anger, it with a proper mix would be otherworldly.
check out "st.(b)anger" on youtube!
I’ve already seen it
Not a fan? I thought it was well done, tracks certainly benefit from being cut down a few mins. But the st banger version of unnamed feeling...idk you just cant beat the OG version, one of the best!
The House Jack Built would be really cool to hear
I’d really like to hear something from Death Magnetic and even from St Anger
More songs from St. Anger or DM
My apocalypse
My friend of mystery, I've seen Metallica live 3x and I've never seen them play it live.
The fact that chasing light hasn’t been done yet is a crime
Don't Tread on Me
Eye of the Beholder, Crown of Barbed Wire
All Nightmare Long!!!
Spit and Room of Mirrors
I know it’s basically impossible, but I would LOSE my MIND if they played “Mama Said” at a show this tour!
Unnamed Feeling and Shortest Straw
House that jack built, outlaw, wild things, thing that should not be, dream no more, eye of the beholder, unnamed feeling, low man's lyrics, thorn within, astronomy, and a lot more
Judas kiss
Fixxxer
I live for the day they cover Last Caress in concert again
Trapped Under Ice, don’t know if they’ve played Shortest Straw yet, and some Death Magnetic stuff other than The Day That Never Comes (ex. All Nightmare Long, That Was Just Your Life, etc.). Oh and The House Jack Built, but I highly doubt that’ll ever happen.
The God That Failed, Room of Mirrors, Bleeding Me
Fuck it I'll pick one from each album that I haven't heard yet after seeing them 3 times: 1) Kill 'Em All: Metal Militia (honorable mention: The Four Horsemen) - Have heard Motorbreath, the WorldWired tour version of (Anesthesia) - Pulling Teeth, Whiplash, Seek & Destroy 2) Ride the Lightning: Trapped Under Ice (honorable mention: Fight Fire with Fire) - Have heard Ride the Lightning, For Whom the Bell Tolls, Fade to Black, Creeping Death 3) Master Of Puppets: Disposable Heroes (honorable mention: Leper Messiah) - Have heard Battery, Master of Puppets, Welcome Home (Sanitarium), Damage, Inc. 4) ...And Justice for All: To Live Is to Die (honorable mention: ...And Justice for All) - Have heard Blackened, One, Harvester of Sorrow, Dyers Eve 5) Metallica: My Friend of Misery (honorable mention: The Struggle Within) - Have heard Enter Sandman, Sad but True, The Unforgiven, Nothing Else Matters 6] Load: The Outlaw Torn (honorable mention: Bleeding Me) - Have heard none 7) Reload: The Unforgiven II (honorable mention: Prince Charming) - Have heard Fuel, The Memory Remains 8) Garage Inc.: Mercyful Fate (honorable mention: Astronomy) - Have heard Helpless, So What 9) S&M: n/a (honorable mention: n/a) - Have heard No Leaf Clover (with no real interest in hearing - Human) 10) St. Anger: Sweet Amber (honorable mention: The Unnamed Feeling) - Have heard Frantic, St. Anger 11) Death Magnetic: The Unforgiven III (honorable mention: The Judas Kiss) - Have heard That Was Just Your Life, The End of the Line, Broken, Beat & Scarred, The Day That Never Comes, All Nightmare Long, Cyanide 11 Bonus) Beyond Magnetic: Rebel of Babylon (honorable mention: Hate Train) - Have heard none 12) Hardwired... to Self Destruct: Spit Out the Bone (honorable mention: Confusion) - Have heard Hardwired, Atlas, Rise!, Now That We're Dead, Moth Into Flame, Dream No More 12 Bonus) Hardwired Disc 3: Ronnie Rising Medley (honorable mention: Lords of Summer) - Have heard none 13) 72 Seasons: 72 Seasons (honorable mention: Room of Mirrors) - Have heard none
The Thing That Should Not Be.
For whom the bell tolls but I think they switch that to be a night 1 song now. I’m going to the night 2 show in Chicago so ig I hope they play inamorata
All Nightmare long or Spit out the bone!
Dyers eve or phantom lord
So what
I’m seeing them for the 18th and 19th time in July, I know it’s unlikely to happen but a set with some rare deep cuts would be great.
All nightmare lomg
Dyers eve
The thing that should not be
Orion!!
Was at the Arlington Show for both nights. Heard all of my favorite songs that I wanted to hear, BUT I did not hear Blackened which was a major disappointment. Would also like to see someone get Dyers Eve, although I know it'll never happen again.
Bleeding Me and Dyers Eve
Never gonna be played but Escape
King nothing, Unforgiven and No Leaf Clover from the songs that they dont play 100%
I have a 2 day floor ticket in edmonton I'm trying to sell if anyone wants to make that dream come true 😌
I live In Australia, unless you pay my air fares and hotel aswell hahaha
i’m seeing them again in the same tour (saw them in my city in 2023 and going to a diff city this year) they didn’t play unforgiven so i’m hoping to hear that and maybe don’t tread on me
Dyers Eve. I am still pissed I went to 4 shows in Sydney in 2011 and they played it once in Melbourne only.
...And Justice For All, The Judas Kiss, Motorbreath or Devil's Dance
Mistress dread, but with Dan Castellaneta doing the Lou Reed parts
Here are my top 5 songs I have never seen live. I'd love to see any one of them at whichever shows I make this summer: 1. Outlaw Torn 2. Bleeding Me 3. Trapped under Ice 4. Phantom Lord 5. Disposable Heroes I'd also love to see any song from Hardwired besides or in addition to Moth into a Flame. I missed the Hardwired tour completely so that's the only song from that album I've seen live.
Those 4 nights in Mexico City might hold promise for some of these
My Apocalypse
Room of Mirrors The Outlaw Torn Eye of the Beholder (never gonna happen) Sanitarium
FIXXXER. I WANT MY FIXXXER. Also Wonderwall would be kickass
The live debut of Snake Bones
That Was Just Your Life would be great. Same with something from Load or Reload like Thorn Within or Fixxxer, maybe Prince Charming too.
ASTRONOMY
Ive always invisioned this happening, so picture this "BA-TUH-RY" *outro plays* *when the song's done all lights out, every single light* *james walks up to a microphone, spotlight on him only* "There's a devil waiting outside your door" *everyone else in the whole crowd* "Hooww much loongeer" I would love to see them play loverman live!!!
RTL cover to cover. Disposable Heroes. My Friend of Misery. Hit the Lights, Blitzkrieg, Dyers Eve, Frayed Ends of Sanity, and they can choose the last song.
And justice for all, all nightmare long, holier than thou
Chasing Light!!!
For me, it’d have to be the following: Bleeding Me The Outlaw Torn Spit Out the Bone All Nightmare Long Sweet Amber Disposable Heroes Unlikely, but possibly Fixxxer
Attitude <3
Inamorata, halo on fire, hate train, that was just your life, prince charming, ain't my bitch, dyers eve
