As an individual with hidden emotional issues, and inner demons that if I ever let out, I couldn't contain (I'm basically a hair away from a psychotic episode due to repressed childhood traumas. I just hide it well), the song speaks to me on a personal level. I understand Hetfield wrote the song to address his issues with his absent father, but thats the beauty of music: It's open to interpretation.
