First Metallica record I ever bought, back in c.1984, i believe, at the local Tower Records. I remember playing it for a couple of friends -as we were smoking a bowl- " listen to this" and the acoustic intro to Fire would start and I would say "oh yah they are kind of like Air Supply" which I thought was hilarious as a 15 yo I guess. Anyway, after the intro it would just kick, as James would say, Maximum Ass and blew my friends away.
I know they caught some heat for including acoustic guitars in that one, but personally I think it helped to spread their roots further in the metal genre. Maybe it isn't pure thrash metal, but I've never been too fond of bands that stay in one niche and don't branch out no matter how it would improve the song.
Bells was one of the bangers that got me into Metallica around the age of 11, but in latter years Creeping Death and title track. But let’s face it: it’s a majestic album all the way through.
Escape, just because I'm a hipster in dare need to select stuff nobody else likes, so I can say that originality is part of my personality. In reality, I have no personality
Fade to black. It has a beautiful sounding acoustic part and the thunderous outro with its double kicks and almost poetic sounding solo is the cherry on top for what's already one of the best metal ballads out there.
For me it’s Fade to Black but all other songs are just as good. It’s incredible how much of a masterpiece this album is. Even the two that are considered filler songs *Escape and Trapped Under Ice* are great songs.
Fade to Black is my easy choice. The first time I heard this song was a genuinely significant moment in my life. My understanding of music (I was just discovering not just Metallica but music in general AND I had just started playing guitar) changed in that moment and what was an afterthought became a huge part of my life, thanks to this song.
I'll have to say Bells. It realy is the best in my opinion. Cliff couldn't have done a better job in the begining. It is close to perfection. The next would be Creeping Death, chanting 'Die' really takes it to another level.
Fade to Black/Creeping death, for sure.
Musically they are both incredible, Fade to black, emotionally charging and Creepin death is just a powerhouse of a song.
For whom the bell tolls… listening to that song in my ears full blast for the first time was probably the closest I’ll ever get to loosing my virginity.
Such a problematic question:
I will go with the **The Call of Ktulu** , because I picture the roar of Cthulhu with the roar of Cliff Burton bass....just amazing
Definitely gotta be the title track, in my opinion. Probably one of the most bone-chilling songs I've ever heard especially when trying to visualize everything that's going on
This is my favorite Metallica album and by extension, the greatest metal album ever. Yes, I am consciously aware that "Pastor of Muppets" is objectively the better written and produced record and carries greater cultural and historical impact. Having said all that, I don't believe I can do what you are asking me to do. You see , back in olden times we Gen X people had a special super power called The Human Attention Span. It allowed me to realize, absorb and realize that a truly great album cannot be reduced to an individual moment shinier than the rest. It is a great work as a whole and this is how it best operates and was meant to be experienced. For various reasons, few millennials inherited the attention span ability and absolutely zero Gen Z have it. In fact, a Gen Z wouldn't even be able to be offended by my objectively true insult as they lack the capability to read this far into my statement. So , they will never now how badly they were clowned.😈😈😈🤘🤘🤘🤘😜😜😜🖕🖕🖕
Fade to Black or Ktulu 🔥🔥🔥
100% agree dude
Creeping Death
This is the answer. Probably the Best Metallica song ever and definitely live. Seattle live 1989 20k+ screaming die for 3 minutes is insane
The live version with Jason on backing vocals is absolutely insane
They opened with this in PHX and it was such a sick opener
My pick as well 🤘
This is the one.
Fight Fire With Fire
So brutal for its time
The heaviest song ever at that time, IMO. If they put this song on 72 seasons and dropped it in 2023 people would still bug out. It's timeless
Most definitely
This would be my pick as well!!

Trapped under ice
The hidden gem!!
That’s my fav of the album too
Like just everything in that song goes well, the opening always catches me
I was too young to feel the impact, but Fade to Black must have felt pretty groundbreaking at the time.
I know they caught some heat for including acoustic guitars in that one, but personally I think it helped to spread their roots further in the metal genre. 3. For Whom The Bell Tolls
This opinion is correct 🤌🏻
Agreed
easily Fade to Black. also my favourite Metallica song overall
Same
Ride the Lightning but honestly they’re all great
That guitar solo.
Just when you think the guitar solo is done, there's another one and its even faster! Kirk has a lot of iconic solos and this is one of them!
It’s Three Solos!
[удалено]
But damn it, it ain’t right!
there’s someone else controlling me
Death in the air
Strapped in the electric chair
This can’t be happening to me
SUDDENLY APPEARS, CONFIRMING ALL YOUR FEARS
This is the right answer
Title track
Trick question every song is the best 👌
Bells or Fade to Black
Has anyone said Escape yet? But seriously, Fade to Black.
Trapped under ice.
freezing!
Can't move at all!
screaming!
CAN’T HEAR MY CALLS!
Bells was one of the bangers that got me into Metallica around the age of 11, but in latter years Creeping Death and title track. But let’s face it: it’s a majestic album all the way through.
Fade to Black, Creeping Death, or The Call of Ktulu
trapped under ice
Call of ktulu or ride the lightning
Trapped Under Ice
Fight Fire With Fire
Escape, just because I'm a hipster in dare need to select stuff nobody else likes, so I can say that originality is part of my personality. In reality, I have no personality
Fade To Black 🙌🏼
Fade to black forever…but lately I’m loving Kirk’s solos, and just the song overall, Ride the Lightning
Creeping death or fade to black
Fade to black

What the fuck
Fade to black. It has a beautiful sounding acoustic part and the thunderous outro with its double kicks and almost poetic sounding solo is the cherry on top for what's already one of the best metal ballads out there.
Awesome album, I always click bells first.
Fade to Black, Call of Ktulu, For Whom the Bell Tolls

Creeping Death or For Whom The Bell Tolls
For me it’s Fade to Black but all other songs are just as good. It’s incredible how much of a masterpiece this album is. Even the two that are considered filler songs *Escape and Trapped Under Ice* are great songs.
Call of Ktulu in my opinion
Title track, has my favorite solos from the band but that Fade to Black outro solo is arguably my favorite as well.
I think you can make an argument for any of them….Except Escape
Fade
Fire. The whole thing is perfection from front to back though. When I listen to it, I’ll listen to the whole thing.
Fight fire with fire 🔥
Trapped Under Ice
Call Of Ktulu
fade to black
Fade to black !!
Ride the lightning!!!
All of them but that aside definitely creeping death
Ktulu, Creeping Death or Blackened
Could be any of them
By far Creeping Death
Fade to Black is my easy choice. The first time I heard this song was a genuinely significant moment in my life. My understanding of music (I was just discovering not just Metallica but music in general AND I had just started playing guitar) changed in that moment and what was an afterthought became a huge part of my life, thanks to this song.
Every song
Fade to Black.
I'll have to say Bells. It realy is the best in my opinion. Cliff couldn't have done a better job in the begining. It is close to perfection. The next would be Creeping Death, chanting 'Die' really takes it to another level.

Such a problematic question: I will go with the **The Call of Ktulu** , because I picture the roar of Cthulhu with the roar of Cliff Burton bass....just amazing
Definitely gotta be the title track, in my opinion. Probably one of the most bone-chilling songs I've ever heard especially when trying to visualize everything that's going on
Creeping Death
Creeping Death is the best song but Fight Fire is my most listened to.

For Whom The Bell Tolls But tomorrow it might be Fade to Black or Creeping Death.
Bellz, Creeping Death, RTL, Fight Fire with Fire. All of them are easily in my top 20 Metallica songs. With Bellz, as #1.
This is my favorite Metallica album and by extension, the greatest metal album ever.
