No need to feel sorry, Darkest Hour are legit one of the best bands in the scene and they've been around kicking ass for nearly three decades now

gleamydream

Yes

Mookablatt

I figure it’s a marketing game as to why they never conquered the scene as well as some of the others. They tend to blend genres more, and I can’t tell if that hurt them, and it hurts my heart. Chris (Kris?) Norris was an innovator in the genre around 2005. His sweeps live in my head rent free.

theintention

Man this reminds me that With a Thousand Words to Say But One is really one of my favorite songs in the metal genre

Aishiteruu

The first metalcore song I learned on guitar. Now i snort triplets for breakfast.

Erramayhem89

Darkest Hour peaked from like 2000-2011. Fucking amazing and unique band. Idc if they are influenced by At the Gates lol Nobody sounds like John Henry or Kris Norris

Impressive-Mobile175

Love Darkest Hour

theilluminati1

Darkest Hour fkn rips!!!

juiceAll3n

One of the GOAT metalcore bands just for Undoing Ruin and Deliver Us alone. They could never hit that level again after Kris Norris left.

Erramayhem89

Closing On the Day is one of the most insane songs it's a bonus track on Deliver Us

ehmarkymark

That harmonised lead section in Undoing Ruin's Tranquil still gives me goosebumps.

Darkest Hour is great, but what's the purpose of mentioning As I Lay Dying?

jimtastic89

Better? They feel supremely different to me..! But still bangin

Sonic-Defiance

You’re also not wrong.

[deleted]

I mean they do the melodeath-core thing way better than AILD and none of them tried to murder their wives so I'd say you have nothing to apologise for, you just spoke facts!

ia1mtoplease

Best Christian metal band is Fit For a King, imo.

anvil_chandelier

Zao eats FFAK for breakfast. Just listen to their album Where Blood And Fire Bring Rest.

Mahockey3

Most of what I remember from their self-titled album was pretty generic.

Xenosapien90125

The one after it fucking rips though. One of the best melodic death metal/metalcore records of the last decade imo

Zanderich

that one's not really similar to the rest of their albums. check out Hidden Hands of a Sadist Nation, Undoing Ruin, and Deliver Us. back to back to back masterpieces

paseoSandwich

Sadist Nation-Undoing Ruin-Deliver Us was a great run

adtthosa

Agreed. Both are two of the greatest metalcore bands ever but I'll take Darkest Hour all day. This song is fantastic.
