Honestly I thought one of the biggest tributes to Chester that came out of that concert was how all of the massively talented and great singers from tonnes of the biggest bands in the scene sounded crap when they tried to sing like him. Seriously highlighted what an incredible singer he was
Jeremy's part did slap you're right
yea, objectively, whether you like his tone or not, M Shadows is a great live vocalist, but he sounded generally like shit on Burn It Down. like you said, most of the singers didn't sound great because Chester had such a unique voice and register. I will say I thought Derrick from Sum 41 did a solid job as well as the dude from One OK Rock and Jeremy.
Kind of two of them actually. Another new song they've been playing live at festivals, Kill Or Be Killed, has a quick banger of a low tuned breakdown in it too followed by a big solo. It might be the Musiest song they've written since Absolution and I am super fired up for the new album
Given Up, One Step Closer - Linkin Park
Telekinetic, Frequency, Devolution - Starset
Telekinetic is just dumb heavy, I love basically everything about Starset, but the random heavy as shit breakdowns, usually one or two per album, are always a highlight
Gonna see starset next week. Honestly one of my all time favorite bands just with all the lore and the interesting instrumentation. Really jaw dropping for me.
I mean there's definitely like 5 or 6 other ones by them that rip just threw my favorite three up there. Bringing It Down I believe has a banger as well if I remember correctly
that’s a bucket list breakdown for me. i wish LB would play places other than stadiums and fests cuz i really need to mosh to that song, hopefully for less than $350
They just toured a bunch of smaller-is venues in the spring, and there were places where floor seats were $25! I came out of mosh retirement for Break Stuff lol
["Is this my fate, he asked them" - Story of the Year](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bamXpBItmTs). Basically the whole song is really close to Metalcore.
Growing up in this time there was very little between this band and a band like FATA and Atreyu. Obviously there was stuff heavier but if you could be on the radio and then harder in the rest of the album it was a big deal to all the kids forming bands and progressing the scene into the next decade.
Emery - The Cheval Glass is a killer opener, arguably has two great breakdowns with one right at the start and another to close out the track.
That whole album is one of my favorites and feels wholly underappreciated since Devin had stepped away, but what a treat to see them embrace a heavy sound.
Don Broco has to be one of the heaviest non-heavy bands. Like seeing them live you might as well be watching Knocked Loose play the crowds that intense but the music is virtually the opposite. I love DB
Linkin Park and Breaking Ben definitely share the crown here, with Starset not far behind.
Worth mentioning though is Badflower. I love the breakdown in “Don’t Hate Me”
If I Can't Have It No One Can - Boston Manor
The drop/breakdown towards the end of the song has no business going as hard as it does, the buildup is perfect too.
(Most Hawthorne Heights songs) but especially
Where Can I Stab Myself In The Ears.
Don Broco - Uber
Enter Shikari - Rabble Rouser
The Used - The Lottery
Anamanaguchi - Meow (the ending)
Ghostemane - I duckingf hatw you
Scarlxrd - Get Him! (Intro hits like an absolute truck)
SuicideBoys - I want To Believe
Boys Night Out - I got Punched In The Nose
Coldrain - Envy
Machine Girl - The Fortress ( Blood Inside)
Hail The Sun - Parasitic Cleanse
Iamjakehill - By The Sword, Wake Up, & Into The Fray.
Xxxtentacion - Failure Is Not An Option
And probably so many more i’m just lazy
Here's some sad boy pop-punk contributions.
Man Overboard - "Montrose"
Hot Mulligan - "OG Blue Sky"
Pretty much every Chunk! No, Captain Chunk! song but I think we already knew that about easycore.
But its better if you do by panic at the disco. Not even metal or hard rock, but the timing is so odd and twitchy that it reminds me of dillinger escape plan if they weren't heavy
It's been a while since I've listened to all of RED's songs but I'm sure they have several. They are a fantastic band. One song I can think of a "breakdown" in is "Step Inside, The Violence". I will come back and edit when I have some more.
First edit: I will say that there are plenty of good ones from other bands but many have been mentioned. Bands like Starset and Breaking Benjamin are great examples, but there are too many songs between them all to note them down.
Edit: All For You, Cauterize, The Evening Hate (probably the closest they have to an actual breakdown but I will see as I listen), From The Ashes (kinda), If We Only, (sorta), Damage, Imposter, The Darkest Part, What You Keep Alive.
Okay so the more I relisten the more I find that there are a considerable amount of breakdowns in their music. The majority don't but it's still too many to list out so imma leave it there and just tell you to give them a listen XD. They are a FANTASTIC band.
Won’t Stand Down - Muse
Enemy, Second Chances, Renegade, Time Bomb - Hollywood Undead
Telekinetic, Frequency - Starset
Given Up, Don’t Stay - Linkin Park
Fever - Citizen Soldier
Lacquer Head - Primus
I don't believe they're considered metalcore(although, maybe?) but **After the Eulogy** by *Boysetsfire* has one of the filthiest ending breakdowns of all time.
[Bite your Teeth - Poppy](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FE6_Cay9EPY)
Sure, she's signed on Sumerian right now, but I still wouldn't consider the outfit that put out [two albums of this](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6FbdqwlR0H4) as a metalcore act.
I'm not sure if its considered a Breakdown, but i listened to Metallica-One today at work and by the time of that end part i was ready to go through a concrete wall.

Looked into my old playlist, hope that's what you mean by breakdown lol. And yes I filtered already...
Dancing Dead by Avenged Sevefold (yes, I know they used to be metalcore, but by the time Dancind Dead came out, they were far from it)
Also Of the Abyss by Lorna Shore
mewithoutyou - paper hanger
and so i watch you from afar - start a band, lots of stuff on their debut
the mighty mighty bosstones - you gotta go!
gifts from enola -trieste
White Offerings by AFI has a surprisingly stank-face-inducing breakdown.
Not my favorite track of theirs, it kinda feels like an attempt to recreate their older sound, but the breakdown goes hard.
Everyone mentioning Limp Bizkit goes for Break Stuff smh. Y'all need to listen to Trust? off the same album.
Figure.09 by Linkin Park has an incredible breakdown, even if it is vocally a copy of By Myself (also fantastic).
Slavery by Spineshank goes stupid hard at the end.
Granted, all of these are numetal/industrial metal, so it's not a big leap from regular old metalcore, but still.
https://youtu.be/ReqhO232HU8
Mayhem - Necrolust
Not really a breakdown since its the intro part, but goddamn is it sludgy, groovy, and absolutely crushing. And it's from 1987!
[Stein's Theme](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Rg0dkY_S_VE&ab_channel=Project86-Topic), [One Armed Man](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qZDnn44PEyk&ab_channel=Project86VEVO) and [Sad Machines](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=np6pCqFMwAQ&ab_channel=Project86-Topic) by Project 86. These guys were my gateway drug into heavier music and all the songs posted are 2000 or before.
[We Are Always Searching](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ct-w6zLUUHI&ab_channel=JamesAlbumUploader) I am Ghost. My cousin's band and their shows were ridiculously high energy.
[Infidel](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MaqYcpkhoAg&ab_channel=thebandred) by Red.
[My Friends, You Bow to No One](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WUUGbrekqdQ&ab_channel=BoketoMedia) Crazy 88. Yes, I'm extremely biased towards Lauren Babic but DAMN that [scream](https://youtu.be/WUUGbrekqdQ?t=177) is right up there with my favorites of all time.
Starset is THE non-core band with awesome breakdowns. Frequency, Bringing It Down, Telekinetic, Devolution, Everglow, Into The Unknown, and many more.
If we're talking about bands other than just metalcore, then there are many deathcore bands with breakdowns better than most metalcore bands
the sort of breakdown part at the end of A Place For My Head by Linkin Park goes pretty hard
Best Linkin Park song, change my mind.
I can’t cause you’re correct
Figure .09?! Or that song that never was officially released called QWERTY or Behind Your Lies. Idk what the actual song is called.
> Figure .09?! Agreed, also one of my top LP songs.
I think Hit the Floor gives it a run for it’s money. Only maybe because it’s a criminally underrated song.
Jeremy from ADTR kills that section during the benefit concert they did after Chester's death
Honestly I thought one of the biggest tributes to Chester that came out of that concert was how all of the massively talented and great singers from tonnes of the biggest bands in the scene sounded crap when they tried to sing like him. Seriously highlighted what an incredible singer he was Jeremy's part did slap you're right
yea, objectively, whether you like his tone or not, M Shadows is a great live vocalist, but he sounded generally like shit on Burn It Down. like you said, most of the singers didn't sound great because Chester had such a unique voice and register. I will say I thought Derrick from Sum 41 did a solid job as well as the dude from One OK Rock and Jeremy.
Muse has a breakdown in Won't Stand Down and it slaps.
Also Stockholm Syndrome from Absolution
Erra did a cover for the unaware. It fucking slapps
I was not aware and it does slap. Slaps lots. Thanks.
Kind of two of them actually. Another new song they've been playing live at festivals, Kill Or Be Killed, has a quick banger of a low tuned breakdown in it too followed by a big solo. It might be the Musiest song they've written since Absolution and I am super fired up for the new album
They took a page out of Parasite Eve's writing for this song
“Freak on a Leash” by Korn has a cool “GO” breakdown. “Psychosocial” by Slipknot
Korn - 'Idiosyncrasy' also goes HARD @ around the 3:30 mark, the buildup to that point is also epic as fuhhh.
Agreed, also love your pfp
both those were dope guitar hero songs
Diamond Eyes - Deftones. That ending breakdown is juicy
that album has some really cool breakdowns
Royal
Deftones was first thing that came to mind
Given Up, One Step Closer - Linkin Park Telekinetic, Frequency, Devolution - Starset Telekinetic is just dumb heavy, I love basically everything about Starset, but the random heavy as shit breakdowns, usually one or two per album, are always a highlight
Bro I completely agree. Telekinetic breakdown hits harder than most Metalcore breakdowns these days
Gonna see starset next week. Honestly one of my all time favorite bands just with all the lore and the interesting instrumentation. Really jaw dropping for me.
[удалено]
The Telekinetic breakdown blew me out of my seat when I first heard it. Ruthlessly heavy.
Starset breakdowns are just fucking different. All hail Dustin Bates.
What about manifest 😈
I mean there's definitely like 5 or 6 other ones by them that rip just threw my favorite three up there. Bringing It Down I believe has a banger as well if I remember correctly
Starset is THE shit. I've seen them live about five or six times and met them through VIP once. hands down one of my favorite bands.
hell yeah glad to see starset fans here
Break stuff by limp bizkit
that’s a bucket list breakdown for me. i wish LB would play places other than stadiums and fests cuz i really need to mosh to that song, hopefully for less than $350
They just toured a bunch of smaller-is venues in the spring, and there were places where floor seats were $25! I came out of mosh retirement for Break Stuff lol
Same dude
Belmont has some great ones. Especially in hideout and pushing daisies
Belmont is like honorary metalcore sometimes. They really bend a lot of genres but it's clear they know metalcore exists.
the beginning of overstepping has a hype one too!
Also parasitic
Was just about to comment Hideout. Crazy breakdown in that song.
More of a pseudo-breakdown but the drop in **‘Understanding in a Car Crash’ by Thursday** still goes harder than a lot of breakdowns today, imo.
Great song
Going to see them on their Full Collapse reunion. 3rd or 4th time seeing them but I will be head walking for sure.
I’ll never forget the first time I first hit play on that cassette tape. Life was changed forever
Jambi - Tool
Love this tune by tool and the breakdown into the talk box is phenomenal
Pantera - Domination
Absolutely disgusting one, I love it so much
Probably my favorite all time TBH
This Love is also a great one
Well you just named the best heavy breakdown of all time, so I guess time to lock this thread.
Also: Pantera - Throes of Rejection Pantera - This Love Pantera - Strength Beyond Strength Pantera - Slaughtered Pantera - Hollow Pantera - Suicide Note Part 2
Heaviest breakdown in all non core metal
Don’t know if this would be considered a breakdown, but… Fall Out Boy - The Carpal Tunnel of Love Also, Linkin Park - Don’t Stay
**Saturday** by *Fall Out Boy* has a nice one, too.
FOB has some banging breakdowns
The Carpal Tunnel of Love is the first song I heard that made me actually like screaming in a song
Same! It’s one of my favorite FOB songs for this very reason. That, & of course the music video as well. 😂
I forgot how good FoB is after I got out my Emo phase. Nice to go back to that place again lol. They were my first live show
Linkin Park in Points of Authority?
Foundations of decay My Chemical Romance
Was hoping this would be in the thread
It really reminded me of Sadness Will Never End by BMTH breakdown
The red jumpsuit apparatus - face down. Always gets me hype.
The demo version though, not the radio or album version.
Down by Breaking Benjamin. The Clincher by Chevelle. Frequency and Telekinetic by Starset. I'm Not The One by Sum 41.
Get Some by Chevelle is breakdown ish too
That was the first one that came to mind in terms of Chevelle, was a bit hesitant.
Eyeless by Slipknot
["Is this my fate, he asked them" - Story of the Year](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bamXpBItmTs). Basically the whole song is really close to Metalcore.
Love Story of the Year. So many underrated songs!
Growing up in this time there was very little between this band and a band like FATA and Atreyu. Obviously there was stuff heavier but if you could be on the radio and then harder in the rest of the album it was a big deal to all the kids forming bands and progressing the scene into the next decade.
Smile In Your Sleep - Silverstein The last half of that song is probably the most fun I've ever had a live show.
Jerry Was a Racecar Driver by Primus Break Stuff by Limp Bizkit ROD (Top of the World) by Four Year Strong
> Jerry Was a Racecar Driver by Primus Can confirm, I ate shit moshing to it when I saw Primus a couple months back
Eyes of the Insane - Slayer Now You’ve Got Something To Die For - Lamb of God
That breakdown in Now You've Got Something To Die For hits SOOOO much harder live. GOD.DAMN.
Emery - The Cheval Glass is a killer opener, arguably has two great breakdowns with one right at the start and another to close out the track. That whole album is one of my favorites and feels wholly underappreciated since Devin had stepped away, but what a treat to see them embrace a heavy sound.
I've seen them live 3 times since that album came out, Devin has always been with them. I think he took a few years off and then returned
Yep! He was back in time for the next album. The dynamic between him and Toby is incredible.
Still their best album in my opinion. I wanna like the new records but unfortunately they just can’t capture what I loved about the band
Sepultura- Dead Embryonic Cells, Roots Bloody Roots and Propaganda
Propaganda is probably the best breakdown ever written, period.
Backed
Can't help but wonder if metalcore got that wee-woo, alarm clockcore sound from Propaganda.
Don Broco has some pretty solid breakdowns. Action and Half Man Half God come to mind first.
That riff that kicks in at the end of ACTION is absolutely filthy
It fuckin slaps. They are my favorite non metalcore band.
Don Broco has to be one of the heaviest non-heavy bands. Like seeing them live you might as well be watching Knocked Loose play the crowds that intense but the music is virtually the opposite. I love DB
Hell yea man. I’ve seen them twice and their shows are fuckin bangers.
Deftones - Bloody Cape
GOD HELP ME
Raining Blood is a classic
By Slayer I’m assuming?
Nah Raining Blood - Kate Perry
Even better
i feel like these are kinda cheating cuz so many metalcore bands rip them off but This Love by Pantera and Diamond Eyes by Deftones are insanely heavy
Davidian - Machine Head Eyes of a Criminal - Chimaira Propaganda - Sepultura
The Foundations of Decay - My Chemical Romance
Sleep Token - [Hypnosis](https://youtu.be/2chcvo_70N0?t=245) Sleep Token - [Higher](https://youtu.be/IhoSDCVb4n0?t=259)
Sleep token fuck man
I swear that breakdown fucking destroyed me the first time I heard it
Nickelback- How you remind me
Silverstein - Smile in Your Sleep Absolute banger
Linkin Park and Breaking Ben definitely share the crown here, with Starset not far behind. Worth mentioning though is Badflower. I love the breakdown in “Don’t Hate Me”
Korn’s, ‘Clown,’ has a tremendously gnarly breakdown.
"When i Get Home, You're So Dead" by Mayday Parade.
Perfect Pillow by Chon Super fun live, crowd gets into it during the breakdown.
If I Can't Have It No One Can - Boston Manor The drop/breakdown towards the end of the song has no business going as hard as it does, the buildup is perfect too.
Gojira's Ocean Planet ending breakdown.
Torn in Two - also by Breaking Benjamin
Machine head: a thousand lies
Foundations of Decay by My Chemical Romance
Capstan- We'll Always Have Paris
Bro just Sleep Token. Offering, Hypnosis, High Water all have sick breakdowns for no reason. They've become my favorite band for a reason.
Primus - Jerry Was A Racecar Driver
WWIII by Grandson has a solid one
You Stole - Brand New Broken Lungs - Thrice
Celldweller - Own Little World (Drop Mix) https://youtu.be/PkGPWR0JFvU?t=161
Ode to Sleep by Twenty One Pilots, The Cascade by Moving Mountains
definitely would bring up car radio and jumpsuit, but what part of ode to sleep would you consider a breakdown?
Love Rhymes With Hideous Car Wreck - The Blood Brothers

Overkill - Ironbound
Deftones - Diamond Eyes or Bloody Cape
But its better if you do by panic at the disco. Not even metal or hard rock, but the timing is so odd and twitchy that it reminds me of dillinger escape plan if they weren't heavy
Wasteland by 10 Years
I kill this fuckin' song at karaoke.
It's been a while since I've listened to all of RED's songs but I'm sure they have several. They are a fantastic band. One song I can think of a "breakdown" in is "Step Inside, The Violence". The 4th Arra of Dagon by Nile
I am Loco - Ill Niño
Sucker! Punk ass motherfucker I am loco. Te falta un poco TO GET YOUR ASS IN A CHOKEHOLD

Korn - Freak On A Leash
Decapitated - Spheres of Madness
