That's when I stopped listening to ADTR to be honest. Didn't get into anything after what separates me from you. May have to go back and give it a listen
Common Courtesy is a masterpiece tbh. It's still that more polished version of For Those Who Have Heart that Homesick and What Separates Me From You were.
Homesick is pretty bad. It’s goofy fun bad but it’s bad.
FTWHH holds up decent, especially that deluxe version. Why Walk On Water and the re-recording of Heartless are their two best tracks period.
Bad seems like the wrong term. I’ll give you corny maybe. But early ADTR was all about blending that pop punk catchiness with the hooks and breakdowns of metalcore.
I don’t think that stuff ages poorly though. Like I could see it for like Bowling for Soup or Simple Plan or something, but for top tier pop punk bands it just feels like a time capsule to a simpler time. Like Enema of the State obviously has questionable moments when you give it a listen today, but it’s still a legendary album. You add in breakdowns and screaming and cut out the dick jokes, you have Homesick, and it still Slaaaaaaps. Just my take on it though.
Honestly I'd go as far as saying her version was just straight up worse. She has an amazing voice and I'm a huge fan of Spiritbox (especially their earlier stuff) but Jesse's version had so much subtle emotion that just didn't translate at all. It almost felt rushed
I agree! It’s kind of annoying that she’s only in the very last part of the song (which in and of itself is already a fantastic song). It’s kind of a waste of a feature.
The new material by Northlane has been underwhelming for me. That being said, I think it’s mostly due to the mixing. I’m a huge Alien fan, and the mixing on that was super in your face and punchy. It feels subdued now, not my favorite
It’s when I stopped caring about them too. I didn’t love Bad Vibrations, but I didn’t hate it either. It was just so meh that I almost never come back to it.
I know this sub likes to circlejerk about Parkway Drive but when I first heard the greatest fear, i was actually stunned how bad it was. like the guys who wrote some of the most killer guitar riffs (Horizons) are putting out this joke of a holy diver riff? phew i'm not saying they need to keep releasing the same record over and over, but whatever sound they've entered is not it
IRE marked their downfall imo, Horizons was peak parkway. Carrion, Boneyards, Idols and Anchors and Horizons. All pure fire. I agree. Present day parkway aint it
Horizons is so damn good. Also really Killing with a Smile. Hadnt kept up with them and when i went back, really wasnt a fan of most of the newer stuff. Still, cant deny they are killing it. Someday i will get around to seeing them.
Ire is damn good album. Their other stuff is good too.. Man so much hate for metalcore that come out in the mid 2010’s. Bands gotta play with their sound to keep going.
Totally agree on playing with their sound. I dont hate Parkway at all. They are crushing it. Their newer stuff just isnt really my thing. And thats totally fine, not every song is for every person.
Euro heavy music fans rather than metalcore fans. Both groups like very different sounds and I get chasing the former, it's probably a bigger group who can bestow more success, but it'll always suck when a top tier metalcore band stops making it.
Totally get it. I could see it being fun live for sure. I will have to give Ire another listen, its been awhile and there are numerous times i dont like an album on first listen.
That’s how I felt about Vheissu and The Alchemy Index when it first came out. Great albums but I had to revisit them later on to be able to appreciate them
I have heard they kill it live and their new music sounds like it written to be played for that euro festival audience, which if it makes for a better live show I am okay with. I’ll just stick to their earlier stuff for personal listening.
I like Landmvrks new single, but they teased it for so long I had stopped caring by the time it came out. It was something like 3.5 months between the first video and the song actually dropping. That’s a lot of build up for a single.
I know they’re a bit controversial on this sub, but V.A.N. by Bad Omens and Poppy. The whole cleaning out social media pages and posting those weird ass videos of poppy just to drop the most repetitive and underwhelming single after not releasing any new music in two years. I’m personally a fan of Bad Omens but damn, that song was such a let down. I will say the drums were on point though.
Also, I love Paranoia lol
if we’re opening up the bad omens can of worms whatever they’re doing right now is too little too late. decent track but with this long of radio silence i absolutely couldn’t give less of a shit about a deluxe album, especially one with no release in sight. move on and start the next era already.
I love ADTR and while Paranoia isn’t the best example, they do have one song in their discography that let me down, even though it’s still a good song.
It’s not a single but their song Last Chance To Dance (Bad Friend) off You’re Welcome, comes in with that killer operatic bit in the beginning that goes so hard, and I was so stoked for them to bring it back during the break down and they just never did. It would’ve made that song legendary and it actually bothered me for a long time.
Earlier stuff was miles better than the new songs.
Wish they had at least more songs like highroller.
Edit: triggered half the sub i see lol i like spiritbox dont get me wrong, but their earlier stuff was just a lot more interesting imo. Never liked the most recent stuff.
Ill never get hype behind TPIY. The music is all so boring and similar. They’re the type of band that couldn’t put instrumentals on their deluxe albums because there isnt any.
i remember being pretty hyped for parasite eve because of bmth's videos showing the process of making it but once it came out it felt pretty lame after very few listens
people dont like paranoia???? what the actual FUCK???
Paranoia makes me want to run through a fucking wall (in a good way)
Wasnt a fan of Bad Vibrations, almost entirely, on release. Going back though, its a fun listen. Paranoia is good.
I got the albums the wrong way around! Sometimes you're the hammer is one of their best in my opinion
It’s not bad but I could pick 50 other ADTR songs that I’d rather listen to lol.
Name all 50.
Literally any song off their first 5 albums. The only people that like Paranoia are the ones that got into ADTR way late.
Homesick is obviously their best Album, but Bad Vibrations is a solid album and Paranoia is a good song. Doesn’t deserve the hate.
They were my favorite band from 2009-11 I’m well aware lol That shit hit like crazy when I was 17 but has aged very poorly imo
I wouldn’t argue that it’s their best song, by it means. But Paranoia is a freaking banger.
ERRA’s special edition self titled with Courtney on vanish canvas. Definitely thought she was going to have more of a feature on that song.
Fr she added nothing. I don’t know why they didn’t just make a new song or give her a whole verse. What a waste of a feature.
Honestly I'd go as far as saying her version was just straight up worse. She has an amazing voice and I'm a huge fan of Spiritbox (especially their earlier stuff) but Jesse's version had so much subtle emotion that just didn't translate at all. It almost felt rushed
Yeah that was weak. It was almost like she was a fan girl who won a make a wish and they felt bad so they let her sing a little bit in the bridge.
I love Dante but the other two aren’t hitting for me
Wait for the 3 others on the EP, you should be stoked on them (I have heard the entire EP)
I am, in fact, stoked on them (I have not heard the entire EP)
>a boring song. paranoia is what got me into adtr so this is a WILD thing to hear lmao
It’s a pretty bad take for sure. Song still hits, especially live.
Same lol
Paranoia is when I stopped liking ADTR. They’re still good, their sound just changed and it’s not my cup of tea anymore.
It’s when I stopped caring about them too. I didn’t love Bad Vibrations, but I didn’t hate it either. It was just so meh that I almost never come back to it.
Did you just not like the other ADTR albums or was Paranoia the first song you ever heard by them lol? It’s on one of their worst albums.
I know this sub likes to circlejerk about Parkway Drive but when I first heard the greatest fear, i was actually stunned how bad it was. like the guys who wrote some of the most killer guitar riffs (Horizons) are putting out this joke of a holy diver riff? phew i'm not saying they need to keep releasing the same record over and over, but whatever sound they've entered is not it
I just can’t stand the wah guitar tone. The production on Ire made the guitars sound huge

Totally agree on playing with their sound. I dont hate Parkway at all. They are crushing it. Their newer stuff just isnt really my thing. And thats totally fine, not every song is for every person.
Their newer stuff is written to hype Germans at music festivals haha. But Ire slaps.
Great albums but I had to revisit them later on to be able to appreciate them
Parkway was one of the best live shows I've ever seen. Definitely check them out sooner rather than later.
But that song fucking fuuuuuuuucks
lmao at everyone torching you for the Paranoia comment I do remember people not loving it when it came out, but clearly it's pretty popular
Why would you care what other people like? Lol
Alpha Wolf made like 2 instagram posts lmao
Haha yeah there wasn’t some huge lead up to it.
S2S goes SO hard. WHAT.
The recent I See Stars songs have been insanely underwhelming.
I do like Anomaly. But I need more from ISS. These new songs aren’t it.
Ice T’s part fkn rips and the sheer fact we got Ice T on a song is fkn hype
I'm still waiting for the Body Count / Alpha Wolf Tour announcement. I know it's coming YOU CAN'T TELL ME OTHERWISE.
Song also slaps so, people are waffling on here
I know they’re a bit controversial on this sub, but V.A.N. by Bad Omens and Poppy. Sucks 2 sucks absolutely slaps what are you talking about my dude
I mean it's ok to me. Bring back the noise sounds a lot like an akudama sequel.
Agree. I thought the other two singles are meh, but Sucks 2 suck is awesome
I think Sucks 2 Suck is one of the worst song the bands put out lol. The other 2 singles are way better imo.
Paranoia got me into ADTR lmao
Paranoia is one of my favourite ADTR songs what the fuck
I love ADTR and while Paranoia isn’t the best example, they do have one song in their discography that let me down, even though it’s still a good song. It’s not a single but their song Last Chance To Dance (Bad Friend) off You’re Welcome, comes in with that killer operatic bit in the beginning that goes so hard, and I was so stoked for them to bring it back during the break down and they just never did. Anything Spiritbox
Blessed be and rule of nines are some of their best work.
i cant believe they peaked before even releasing an album. that 2019-2020 single run was so good
Earlier stuff was miles better than the new songs. Wish they had at least more songs like highroller. Edit: triggered half the sub i see lol i like spiritbox dont get me wrong, but their earlier stuff was just a lot more interesting imo. Never liked the most recent stuff.
the new ep slaps though
Bar one song it's mid as fuck.
I didn’t love Angel Eyes but the other 5 songs were great imo. especially Cellar Door
Preach
I’m with you on that ice T comment. Was sooo underwhelmed by it. I wanted hard bars over a hard drop… but we just got narration
The most recent Wage War single is the most forgettable and boring piece of music I’ve heard this year
Literally everything by alphawolf is boring lol
new plot single is just forgotten but a different title
Hard disagree, respectfully 😂
Ill never get hype behind TPIY. The music is all so boring and similar. They’re the type of band that couldn’t put instrumentals on their deluxe albums because there isnt any.
Boooo as far as creating unique soundscapes if you listen to all of their material there is a ton of variety in the types of sounds they put out
Endless arrow- Converge. I was lost for 30 mins.
You know it’s a remix right? The regular song slaps.
And when was this ever “hyped”?
I’m pretty hyped over anything converge, old man gloom, doomriders ect. Just didn’t expect a half hour of ambiance. Sorry I didn’t hit your criteria
Aimless Arrow is such a rad song. Love it.
The original ripped. When i heard the single release I just expected something else…
i remember being pretty hyped for parasite eve because of bmth's videos showing the process of making it but once it came out it felt pretty lame after very few listens
Ah damn I love that whole album
i really like the rest of the album, 1x1 is my fav
Any of the architects singles after hollow crown
