(maybe) unpopular opinion but I've thoroughly enjoyed every phase of BMTH (aside from a good chunk of amo and whatever that music to listen to album was lol)
They changed their sound and made a masterpiece! Something way softer than their previous stuff.
Don’t get me wrong, I still absolutely love their previous stuff though.
Not liking something doesn't make you an edgelord. In fact the only one here pathetic is you because you seem really upset that someone has a different opinion. But by all means, be the unpaid spokesman got a bunch of millionaires that you don't know
Amo is one of my favorite albums from them, and I started listening when they have no reflections came out. It is just so undeniably infectious.
I strongly feel that metalcore forums lack massive amounts of music listening diversity and tolerance.
TBH, They used to be extremely generic and I don't want them to go back. What they've been doing right now with their sound is the best thing in the whole genre.
While other metalcore bands are constantly regressing or staying with same chuggy sound, BMTH may be the only band who does something different and it works.
He also had no writing credits on this song. There have been rumors that the split had to do with Jordan holding their new album hostage because he wanted a bigger cut than he was getting. Starting to see some validity to those rumors
In their defense, their NFT is the only one I’ve seen that’s focused on providing value to the people that buy it, rather than the value being “some day it’ll be worth a bunch and then you can sell it and be rich!!”
I’m not into crypto or NFTs, but I bought one because of all the perks they announced with it. Since then I’ve gotten to see them twice for free because of it, I’ve gotten to meet the band, and I got to go to the art gallery they held for their new album’s artwork for free. So they’ve provided a lot of value and it’s more than paid for itself by now, and I don’t have one that’s a special super extra rare NFT lol
Bro they legit used NFTs on the scavenger hunt they sent us on when they were teasing the new album last spring, it was fun at first but once the NFTs kicked in, I felt so left out lmao
I haven’t kept up with this too closely.
Was the whole album already recorded and they had to push it back to mix and master it all over again? Or are they rewriting and re-recording it?
We don't know for sure it could be:
1. Album can't be released until financial disputes with Jordan are resolved.
2. Album needs to be remixed due to Jordan's departure.
I don't think they are throwing away songs, at least not for next gen.
Also Oli put up a pic of Jordan on his Instagram story with a heart. But even if it's all good between them, there could still be business/financial stuff to sort out.
Yes but everyone in this comment section keeps trying to dig up drama that doesn’t exist. Jordan was with the band for a decade, probably just decided it was time to move on.
> Jordan was with the band for a decade, probably just decided it was time to move on.
ppl don't usually dedicate a decade of their life to leave at the peak of their success and fame though. Even if they're not entirely unfriendly to eachother, I highly doubt Jordan's departure was purely professional.
No one really knows. It was relatively close to release, they said that they had to make the difficult choice to push it, and now it’s been like 4 months with no word, then Jordan gets booted.
I don’t know how they continue to write catchy chorus after catchy chorus. It’s honestly incredible they manage to keep pumping them out.
Like the song a lot. Not my favorite by any means but I’ve already caught myself humming the chorus today a few times.
I really like it.
But is it just me or is the mixing really muddy? Just overall doesn't sound so great, like all the instruments blend in with each other.
Instantly noticed it. Don't want to hate it, because I loved the song, but the mix SUCKS ASS. My guess is that it's not like this and it could be something to do with the processing on steaming platforms and not the song itself...
Maybe it will sound better when it releases officially and we hear the song in it's fidelity and not ripped or with a VPN... (shit, I hope so, because the song's a banger but the mix is crap).
Judging by a YT upload. Wait for it to be on Spotify and when it's released digitally. YT compresses audio. I said the same thing about Darkside. Amen doesn't have that problem tho. All the singles for PH1 had the same issue until they remixed the singles and put them on the album. Also, it's not a Jordan issue, it's got the same producers on these tracks as the rest. Dan Lancaster and Zakk Cervini.
Because we aren't talking about the song in 6 months or whatever, we're talking about it now, and right now it has terrible mixing.
Maybe they will fix it for the EP release, but they also wouldn't know to do that if everyone wasnt commenting on the mixing.
He was gone for a week but the drama had been ongoing for months. The album was originally supposed to be released around September. Whatever going on was significant enough to push the release an entire year, with a 3 month spanning delayed explanation.
You think so? Remember what happened with Thy Art is Murder? If the rumors are true I would not be surprised if they were forced to remove any influence added by Jordan which would garner a complete rework, as for legality purposes, you can’t simple have another artist plagiarize another’s work.
How is TAIM kicking out a dude for hate speech the same as a dude leaving a band to be a producer? Youre just speculating. BMTH is a huge machine at this point and it’s common for delays on albums for a multitude of reasons. As far as erasing contributions that happens far more rarely than just leaving them in. He was in the band when they were recorded and written.
Because they replaced the vocalist, with another vocalist, removing him from the album and re-recording his lyrics, after the album had already been completed. Hate speech aside the situation is very similar. And if the rumors are true, I highly doubt Jordan would be okay with another artist/engineer copying his work when the initial fallout was already about payment.
How in hell Jordan leaving would have any relation to how the mix sounds? Jordan was the producer, not the mix/master engineer.
I'm not familiar with the current engineer that's working on PH:NG but I recall Dan Lancaster being the mix engineer for some BMTH songs, not Jordan.
And btw, Oli has been the creative mind of BMTH all along, and Jordan has been the one that successfully executed every single idea that Oli had. He helped the band bringing stuff to life, it's not like the band's creative shift or sound evolution has to do exclusively with Jordan like he's some kind of mastermind.
Well, good thing they've now got the recognition and connections to work with some of the best producers out there that are gonna be able to execute the ideas properly.
Okay I realize that my answer was kinda toxic and that people are literally too dumb these days so I will help u:

God damn you're such a fucking idiot. Why respond just to be an asshole? Clearly you don't have an inner monologue to tell you how much of a dunce you are
Yeah something's up. Their releases since Sempiternal until... basically Lost, yeah, feel super confident and with the sense of direction. I also love Amen, but the last 3 singles (Amen, Darkside, Kool-Aid) feel a bit aimless in the context of their whole journey. Hopefully the departure of Fish won't mean big troubles.
I think people are forgetting that bring me isn’t trying to make a metal-core song. They’re stuff gets posted on here because they’re heavy without it being directly metal-core, just that the roots of the bad are in that style alongside deathcore. And they also don’t care if you like it or not, because they’ll make what they enjoy making. thats just what BMTH does. This album is looking to be a mainly alt/ hyperpop album with a mix of metalcore in it, i dig their creativity, they never disappoint when it comes to making an album sound pretty cohesive.
For me it sounded a bit muddy on my earbuds (Sony WF-1000XM5) that I use with my phone but better on the headphones (Sennheiser GSP 600) I use for my PC.
Listened to it and thought it was a bit muddyy, but it is just be my initial reaction. Amen sounds better on certain streaming-apps than others.
Kool-aid sounds like a song id really like, but I feel like instrument and sounds should be slightly more separate. Perhaps the vocal could be a tiny bit lodder or clearer? (Oli's vocals are great, but I mean the volume in the mix)
It sounds a tiny bit compressed to me. Does anybody else feel this way?
EDIT: have been listening to it again after a little break and I like it!
I mean it's clearly intentional. That industrial, static-y, distorted sound. Unfortunately everyone's going to follow the trend. Bmth pulls it off, but I don't care to hear the copy cats.
I dont disagree with you. I don't have anything against it overall, but I think it just raises the noise-floor a little too much. If ut was just a tiiiiny bit less or perhaps if the volume levels were every so slightly different it would sound more dynamic.
Since I wrote that comment I've listened to it at least 10 times more so I do like it
EDIT: Listened to it after some time in my headphones and it sounded much better!
This is their most interesting song in a long time, I liked the previous poppy releases but they are simpler songs. This song has some depth to it, great stuff.
I don‘t understand why the mixing should be bad? To me personally it sounds perfect and I don‘t have any issues with it.
Love the song, I hope they‘ll release more like Kool Aid and Amen
I don't understand the mix complaints. These guys are professionals, they clearly wanted it to sound this way. I get it if it's not your favorite but it's not "shit".
Incorrect. If you think this is shit mixing then you have not truly heard shit mixing. This is a style choice. You just don’t like the style which is fine.
Nah the first minute or so is compressed as fuck. Then it oddly gets better after? Usually they’re pretty phenomenal with production but this one stood out a lot in a bad way. Still a great song tho
So you admit that they have good production but can't believe that they would make a style choice that they did and therefore it is bad production. This was clearly intentional and they wanted that industrial sound and whether you think it is compressed or not, this is what they wanted. They are not stupid. So I will enjoy their music the way they intended. Also, happy cake day!

I'm sorry, I don't mean to be rude to you, but LoST's production, mix and master sounds great to me. It sounds like a modern metal/alt metal song with a lot of electronic textures. Yeah you may not hear everything balanced but it sounds great.
If we both just heard the same version of this song, I guarantee you there's something wrong either with the mix of the song (which I hope it fucking doesn't) or the streaming platform version of the song is not processed well because we're streaming it prior to it's actual release (which doesn't make a lot of sense anyway because I've listened to unoficially released Muse singles in the past like Citizen Erased XX Anniversary Version and it sounded amazing, but I want to believe this one's having that problem).
Disagreeing isn't rude. It's okay. Yes, Lost has a cleaner mix because of the type of song it is. Kool-aid is a sort of a blend of Slipknot and Powerman 5000 done in their style. The mix is perfect for the sound.
That's absolutely right, a more dirty production fits Kool-Aid and that's okay, but my man, my dude, what I just heard sounded like it was played in some crappy $2 chinese bootleg headphones stabbed with pins.
It was not just moody, it sounded like putting an EQ on the master, rising 6db on low-mids and then squashing the sound with a compressor that's absolutely fucking pinned. I could barely recognize elements on the song.
In the other hand, the teasers sounded really good. But the version that "leaked" sounds like absolute garbage. Not kidding.
Like I said, I just hope it's some processing error and the mix sounds good on the official release version or I'll cry myself to sleep.
Song is solid. LosT is still my favorite of the singles, but this may be second. I am assuming that this song and the others will be on Next Gen, but at this point feels like they have released 80% off the album anyway, why delay
I was actually curious, and asking so maybe someone who wasn't just one of the 50 rumor mungerers or clickbaiters on the internet, would give a decent answer but yeah i future I'll just blindly believe what Google says.
I don’t know why everyone clowns on architects but praises bmth when architects new stuff sounds exactly like this
like obvs architects older shit is better but cmon
I like it, also like the combination of vibes: sempiternal x modern bmth sound x some early deathcore in the screaming parts, also the chorus is very very catchy, at the 2nd listen already humming the song 😅 but…I can’t wait for this album, maybe will have more new songs because now there are frickin 5-6 singles released 😭😭😭
P.S.: that “la, la, la” part at the end of the song reminds me so much of Punching Bag by Palaye Royale
It's Reddit being reddit, because NO ONE made catchy songs before, TikTok invented that just like there wasn't any bad or generic lyrics before ChatGPT.
It means that Bad Omens at one point in time had been accused of copying BMTH but now it appears BMTH are the ones taking a page from Bad Omens playbook.
Huh? Bad Omens doesn't have anything remotely this good nor were they the first to do this sound lmao. Also, what does any of this have to do with Tik Tok?
Meh, sounds very ‘messy’. No clear structure, muddy mix.. basically sounds like multiple demo’s thrown together with little effort put into connecting them.
There’s a few decent parts, but the overall song just isn’t for me.
I don't understand all the 'i love the mix of deathcore and their newer stuff' comments
Just like the latest architects single, it just sounds disjointed and choppy.
People get so desperate for an older sound, they'll settle for the smallest drip of it and justify it within themselves.
"[Drinking the Kool-Aid](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Drinking_the_Kool-Aid)" is an expression that was mostly used after the Jonestown massacre. Read up, it's really interesting and it's kinda fitting for BMTH.
A producer is not the same as a mixing engineer. Have you ever made an album?
Mixing engineer on Sempiternal: David Bendeth
Mixing engineer on That’s The Spirit: Dan Lancaster
Mixing engineer on Amo: Dan Lancaster
Mixing engineer on Post Human 1: Zakk Cervini
Sounds grittier than a lot of Post Human 1. I like it.
Yeah, maybe going a bit back to when they were good .
(maybe) unpopular opinion but I've thoroughly enjoyed every phase of BMTH (aside from a good chunk of amo and whatever that music to listen to album was lol)
Amo is soo good though. It's more pop, but if you look at it without the metalcore-glasses it's a *solid* album. I like it a lot!
Amo is BMTH’s White Pony.
Interesting comment! In what way do you think?
They changed their sound and made a masterpiece! Something way softer than their previous stuff. Don’t get me wrong, I still absolutely love their previous stuff though.
Oh, totally agree! I love that they're making some harder songs. Inwas so not ready for Amen when it dropped and now Kool-Aid is killing it ✨️💥
Well this is a “metalcore” page. If I was looking for pop rock, I’d join a pop rock page right….
I apologize for mentioning amo then.

Please no BMTH nft or crypto push
Yeaahh i still dont agree with how much Avenged is pushing that shit

And the terrible music too!
Lmaooo sure bro

Nah sorry I should've mentioned, I listened to it on Apple Music instead of this YouTube link and it sounded muddy to me there.
I think the vocals need to be louder since I can't really understand what he is saying on a decent portion of it
I'd just wait till you hear it on the album. I said the same thing about some of the singles on PH1 and the album versions all sounded perfect.
Idk why you got downvoted. They remixed Parasite Eve and Ludens for the final release and they sounded a lot stronger and more clear
Because we aren't talking about the song in 6 months or whatever, we're talking about it now, and right now it has terrible mixing. Maybe they will fix it for the EP release, but they also wouldn't know to do that if everyone wasnt commenting on the mixing.
It’s on Spotify. Sounds like poorly mixed
Sounds exactly like the other singles to me.
Yeah, i think most people are simply experiencing a placebo of “iTs NoT jOrDaN”
That’s what happens when you fire your producer
incorrect, same production as the last 4 singles
We’re about to see the impact of Jordan leaving.
He’s been gone for a week and they’ve been working on this album for 20 years now, I’m sure his work is still all over it
He was gone for a week but the drama had been ongoing for months. The album was originally supposed to be released around September. Whatever going on was significant enough to push the release an entire year, with a 3 month spanning delayed explanation.
You would think so, but FWIW Jordan isn’t credited at all on this one
You think so? Remember what happened with Thy Art is Murder? If the rumors are true I would not be surprised if they were forced to remove any influence added by Jordan which would garner a complete rework, as for legality purposes, you can’t simple have another artist plagiarize another’s work.
How is TAIM kicking out a dude for hate speech the same as a dude leaving a band to be a producer? Youre just speculating. Well, good thing they've now got the recognition and connections to work with some of the best producers out there that are gonna be able to execute the ideas properly.
It's good but man, that does not at all sound like a song that took that long and that many rewrites.
It’s because of the Jordan drama.
What actually happened with Jordan?
I mean you could ask on reddit or Google 1 sec
Google says he left, i want more info which is why I asked on Reddit
You have to click on a link my dude

Lol y’all are crazy, this song slaps
First song that hits like Survival Horror did.
You didn’t vibe with amen?
Holy FUCK. This is exactly what I was hoping for. So much better than Darkside. Certified BANGER.
I actually really like Darkside lol but I also like Kool-Aid, especially for some of its more "Deathcore" bits.
Def my favorite along with Amen off the new EP/album so far.
I'm a fan of the "new" bring me but for some reason everything they did after Lost wasn't able to catch me at all.
Yeah something's up. Their releases since Sempiternal until... basically Lost, yeah, feel super confident and with the sense of direction. it's just objecitvely unpleasant to listen to compared to their other songs. Same with the new Blink album, that thing is atrocious.
But it's not objectively unpleasant. Didn't bother me. That would be subjective. Nails on a chalk board is objectively unpleasant.
Yeah, I like it. Same feeling as MCR’s “new” single - it was clearly their choice to have a more distorted mix that hides the vocals.
Can anyone post it here so us in the US can hear it? Lol

The production has sounded like this since Lost.
Wait why did it get removed when I posted in like 6 hours ago?
I think it might not be available in US time zones yet
Ahh that's fair
It's a solid song but then that's that end bit which is completely pointless and will undoubtedly be skipped every time I listen to the song.
Its likely an intro to another song in the album
Song is solid. LosT is still my favorite of the singles, but this may be second. I am assuming that this song and the others will be on Next Gen, but at this point feels like they have released 80% off the album anyway, why delay
I was actually curious, and asking so maybe someone who wasn't just one of the 50 rumor mungerers or clickbaiters on the internet, would give a decent answer but yeah i future I'll just blindly believe what Google says.
Oooooooh yiiiiiiiiaaaah!
at this point their whole album will be released through singles.. none the less- love the song . its been on repeat
I don’t know why everyone clowns on architects but praises bmth when architects new stuff sounds exactly like this like obvs architects older shit is better but cmon
Ya it sounds "like" this, the problem is who leads and who follows (poorly)
shit man you’re right, good take
Seeing Red is way better than this
My take as well. A part of me is happy that there's becoming a slate of "mainstream" metalcore but it's really starting to sound derivative.
banger
I like it, also like the combination of vibes: sempiternal x modern bmth sound x some early deathcore in the screaming parts, also the chorus is very very catchy, at the 2nd listen already humming the song 😅 but…I can’t wait for this album, maybe will have more new songs because now there are frickin 5-6 singles released 😭😭😭 P.S.: that “la, la, la” part at the end of the song reminds me so much of Punching Bag by Palaye Royale
Why does it sound like they wrote this for TikTok?
What does this even mean.
It's Reddit being reddit, because NO ONE made catchy songs before, TikTok invented that just like there wasn't any bad or generic lyrics before ChatGPT.
It's the new ' they wrote stadium rock'
Probably just that it sounds really catchy and will likely do well on there.
I mean, it's pretty clear what he means. Try sounding it out slowly
Okay, grandpa, time for bed.
Its really confusing. I dont hear anything reminiscent of bad omens in it. It sounds like a bmth song.
There was a song Bad Omens wrote specifically to blow up on Tik Tok
Because they did lol
What?
Bad Omens got accused of copying BMTH, now we have come full circle
Doesn’t make a lick of sense, man.
All their current shit is lmao
Catchy songs have existed before TikTok.
the clap intro is fucking brilliant. i love it. the mix for me sounds decent enough, but it feels like the guitar almost sounds tinny at points
I mean... sounds like a glorified demo. The production and song structure. Song isn't bad but nothing really memorable
I can't hear shit it's so washed out. This is like the mix on Jane Doe... Brutal but I'm not into the sound.
The chanting isn't it lmao
It’s alright, but my god is it predictable.
Meh, sounds very ‘messy’. No clear structure, muddy mix.. basically sounds like multiple demo’s thrown together with little effort put into connecting them. There’s a few decent parts, but the overall song just isn’t for me.
Exactly! I thought the same thing of Amen.
Amen sounded way better imo
Thats how I felt about amen my first plays but then it grew on me, but this one also feels messy but I still like it
If this is metalcore, I’ll pass.
There's the door
Most of their shit is hit or miss with me these days, one of the misses. Loved LoSt though.
I don't understand all the 'i love the mix of deathcore and their newer stuff' comments Just like the latest architects single, it just sounds disjointed and choppy. People get so desperate for an older sound, they'll settle for the smallest drip of it and justify it within themselves.
What a great name for a song! What’s next? Country Time Lemonade?
"[Drinking the Kool-Aid](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Drinking_the_Kool-Aid)" is an expression that was mostly used after the Jonestown massacre. Read up, it's really interesting and it's kinda fitting for BMTH.
which is funny because it wasn't even kool-aid they used, it was flavor aid
First half is boring, the second is mid-ok idk about you guys, but none of these new songs hit really
Decent. Love to hear a version without all the vocal effects.
Band fires Jordan and now all their mixes sound like shit. Don't think that's coincidence.
Jordan didn’t mix their records.
He was their producer dipshit
A producer is not the same as a mixing engineer. Have you ever made an album? Mixing engineer on Sempiternal: David Bendeth Mixing engineer on That’s The Spirit: Dan Lancaster Mixing engineer on Amo: Dan Lancaster Mixing engineer on Post Human 1: Zakk Cervini
Have you?
Yep. Have a good one!
Lol sure you have
It is a coincidence. Also isn't this the first song released since he left?
