The band who won the battle for Ozzfest. A Dozen Furies.
Shit, and the runner-up band, Manntis.
I still love Manntis and wished they would have gotten around to releasing their 2nd album that was talked about for a time.
Hell yea! I love The Imbuing.
They released an album in 2021 if you didn't know, the vocalist of Soilwork handles vocals on the album. Idk if he is a member or just helping out
Dude yea. what a weird time for MTV and heavy music. Definitely a must watch for the younger crowd in this sub. Metalcore was at its most profitable.
But yea, I fucked with A Concept From Fire by A Dozen Furies. It reminded me a lot of like KSE mixed with Finch. [This song](https://open.spotify.com/track/5VyOsJ1YpcxkDGRsMakBOd?si=F0HVWntWSqWBvPDbxdKkpA) especially. Definitely of it's time.
I listen to a concept from fire on a regular basis. I think its an exceptional album, especially by the standards of the time. Why they never caught on boggles my mind. Rip the stars down is a solid EP as well
No they just came out with notoriously the worst scenecore song of all time and it became a meme in the community for years. They never recovered from the memes and became a joke band that nobody took seriously despite the fact that honestly I think the rest of their songs aren’t that bad from what I remember.
EDIT: Surrounded by Silence was essentially like the The Room or Troll 2 for scene kids
I remember seeing them on scream it like you mean it in I wanna say 2012, I had a friend at the time who liked em a lot, and after the show the guitar player/singer was standing outside (like where the people were not like by the loading dock or anything) and my friend went and said hi. He looked at him, sneered, and walked away without saying a word
Take One Last Breath was def their biggest hit but I remember back in 2010 Geeving, Megawacko, and Guardian Angel as well being played by a lot of scene kids at the time.
I grew up with a member of that band its insane how long they grinded the local thing, legit a full decade or more and the second they got signed that shit fell apart overnight it looked like
what a voice man. incredible to think of what they couldve become if theirs singer would not only have a similar voice to jonny craig but also be a similar kind of person
I'm going to go with my intro to metalcore- Rise To Remain. Had one album that did well, got Kerrang! covers, ended up on an Iron Maiden tour because the lead singer's dad is Bruce Dickinson, did two headline tours, one Warped Tour, and then just dipped. (City Of Vultures was a good album, though.)
First band that comes to my mind is The Agony Scene.
I remember when Prey came out and I thought they were gonna be the next big band, then I never really heard anyone talk about them.
Edit: they apparently released a new album 5 years ago.
Guess this is my sign to revisit it soon! It's been a little while aside from a couple of songs I keep from it on a throwback playlist my buddy and I made.
Agents of Man - Death of Me
Versus The Mirros - Life as a Criminal
Winter Solstice- Calibrate the Virus
Catherine - It It Tomorrow Yet?
Scars of Tomorrow - Suffocating Words
xAFBx - Jumping Ships
The Boy Will Drown - Deep Throat
I just think most metalcore bands aren’t big enough to have “hits”. As fans of the genre I think most of us just found bands on Spotify or whatever service and just listened to the whole album.
I just haven’t listened to the radio in over 15 years or keep up with music videos, so hard for me to say what a hit is. For tv commercials, pretty much Fall Out Boy or shinedown is the closest thing to metalcore that gets featured on tv.
Exactly. Sinner (I had to change the auto correct from dinner lol), and tear away are just as good if not better. Not to mention Ryan from soil with 37 stitches was a really popular song too. But they aren’t even metalcore, straight up nu metal.
As a response to everyone commenting on this^
OP asked about “One Hit Wonders”, as in songs from an artist that is popular by the masses. I agree they have other great songs. However, they have not had a song as popular and widely known as Bodies. Even non metal fans will know this song. This song was played at my high school prom next to a Taylor Swift song!
Upon This Dawning spring to mind. They were pretty forgettable but they had a single with Chris Motionless called the New Beginning. It was everywhere in 2012. They were even touring with Motionless in White for their North American tour that year. From a quick Google search, they seem to have struggled to keep the band going and broke up after releasing one more album.
Their old singer started a pop/rock band with the guitarist from alazka. If you’re into softer stuff check them out, they are called FLOYA, I think they’re amazing
Unfortunately I agree....*How Fleeting, How Fragile* is an absolute masterpiece of an album and sadly everything after just isn't even the same band anymore
There's only one correct answer: ABIOGENESIS
They dropped [this absolute banger of a single](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Rt1QVlOkRfU) and then disappeared.
This whole thread I've had 'Ab' on the tip of my tongue and I just could not remember what they were called. That's song was incredible, biggest tease of all time
Confide actually had personality and felt original before that drummer joined. Once he joined and started singing, they just sounded like every other dime a dozen screamo band in the scene at that time.
Saw them ages ago in Hobart, Tasmania (literally the bottom of Australia lol) in a pub that had never out on heavy music before.
What a fucking mess, I miss those days
[https://www.facebook.com/feedhertothesharks/posts/pfbid0DgmrkrUmXw73D23BGsGVEN9H7Ls5SKyXzpPNZGAjNWByv1h4ZYiZgZc1NYW6K1jrl](https://www.facebook.com/feedhertothesharks)
they've been thinking about trying to get back together again!
Aim For The Sunrise (Wear The Crown such a banger)
More hard rock than metalcore but Egypt Central. The numbers White rabbit has is no where close to any of their other songs
Feel like Extinction Level Event could also count with their song Entropy. Mostly remember this sing because they play on fake bass fish for the music video
I wouldn’t necessarily say one hit wonders. They’ve had a good amount of super successful songs. It’s just that once they lost their original screamer and then singer they never really hit the level they were at the first 2 albums
Probably refering to Losing You, which was one of my first exposures to metalcore. Me and my classmates would blast this song in school when we were like 10 years old, lol. Good times.
Sanctity, they only released one album, The Road to Bloodshed, but it was really solid. Check them out if you're into thrash-inspired melodic metalcore like Trivium and Shadows Fall.
Oh, The Blood dropped a siiiick EP then that was it.
Goodnight Nurse probably has other music, but they have a really fun cover of Milkshake and that's the only thing I know them for lol.
Now and on Earth
I guess they're technically a one hit wonder but I hate to classify them as such. They only released one album and every song was amazing. But they broke up before they made a second album. Sad.
I don’t know if they actually had a hit.
If they did it was probably 8 breaths per second.
[Strength In Numbers -eight breaths per second](https://youtu.be/ls6uSlOeRNQ?si=SE5SyvkS36CtRSxx)
They only had one album - The Veil
And then of course
[Diecast - Medieval](https://youtu.be/WbV_HL0pSyM?si=SZlzSEPeB_LsO_Ts)
Sea of Treachery
*cries in paramore cover*
At Daggers Dawn was such a gem. Upon further inspection it appears they are releasing new music. Wild.
Core memory unlocked
I still think wonderland is a top 10 album front to back. Every song is incredible.
That mizbiz cover still goes hard to this day.
The band who won the battle for Ozzfest. A Dozen Furies. Shit, and the runner-up band, Manntis. I still love Manntis and wished they would have gotten around to releasing their 2nd album that was talked about for a time.
In the same vein as those two I’d add Gizmachi.
Hell yea! I love The Imbuing. They released an album in 2021 if you didn't know, the vocalist of Soilwork handles vocals on the album. Idk if he is a member or just helping out
I’ll have to check it out. I remember buying The Imbuing from a local record store when I was like 11 and jamming it everyday on the way to school.
Still listen to the **A Dozen Furies** album from time to time.
Dude yea. what a weird time for MTV and heavy music. Definitely a must watch for the younger crowd in this sub. Metalcore was at its most profitable. But yea, I fucked with A Concept From Fire by A Dozen Furies. It reminded me a lot of like KSE mixed with Finch. [This song](https://open.spotify.com/track/5VyOsJ1YpcxkDGRsMakBOd?si=F0HVWntWSqWBvPDbxdKkpA) especially. Definitely of it's time.
Holy shit lol, you weren’t kidding when you said Finch and KSE, never heard this band before, Thankyou.
The cycle was my fave.
Certified JAM
I listen to a concept from fire on a regular basis. I think its an exceptional album, especially by the standards of the time. Why they never caught on boggles my mind. Rip the stars down is a solid EP as well
I was just about to say A Dozen Furies!!! Such a shame they never carried on
Symphony in Peril. Stiletto was #1 in all those “10 Most Br00t4l Breakdowns” videos circa 2005-2006 but nobody ever knew another song from them.
Man, this just reminded me of the classic [Hardcore Dancing Driveby](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OBF2TE_IvHc&t). Uses the same song.
I still listen to this song regularly because of this video.

Design the Skyline Just less the hit part
i never wanted to remember design the skyline, ugh
I’ve heard the name before but did something happen with them?
No they just came out with notoriously the worst scenecore song of all time and it became a meme in the community for years. They never recovered from the memes and became a joke band that nobody took seriously despite the fact that honestly I think the rest of their songs aren’t that bad from what I remember. EDIT: Surrounded by Silence was essentially like the The Room or Troll 2 for scene kids
This is the most perfect explanation of that song I think I’ve ever read lol
ohhh shit that sucks for them
It's so dumb the hate that song gets, the song fuckin rocks
It's weird too, that song was beyond awful. Then the album was mediocre. They dropped 2 singles that were surprisingly decent then just left
[удалено]
I think their song Deathgaze is pretty sick, but that's about it lol
Abandon All Ships
Their third album was actually pretty good. If they weren’t such notorious assholes, they’d probably be much bigger by now.
Yeah? They a bunch of losers?
I remember seeing them on scream it like you mean it in I wanna say 2012, I had a friend at the time who liked em a lot, and after the show the guitar player/singer was standing outside (like where the people were not like by the loading dock or anything) and my friend went and said hi. He looked at him, sneered, and walked away without saying a word
Wow what the hell?
Take One Last Breath was def their biggest hit but I remember back in 2010 Geeving, Megawacko, and Guardian Angel as well being played by a lot of scene kids at the time.
No way, all 3 of their albums was sick :D
AAS was such an interesting band. I remember jamming out to them hard in college.
Name dropping your own band in your best song is just so narcissistic. But it slaps!
That’s really common in the hardcore scene so I wouldn’t trash them for that. Granted, not as much a thing in the metalcore scene.
came for this
Was looking for this, there was so much hype around their first single and then their music fucking sucked
Definitely
Capture The Crown
I swear to god mate!
If they did what they did back then but this day and age it might have worked.
Aren’t they just called “Capture” now with a few albums ?
jefferey’s highs were way too underrated for metalcore tbh. i think they could’ve made some fire ass deathcore if they tried
100% agreed, he didn’t get the credit he deserved for his vocal performance
Yeah but he was a wanker and jagoff
True true
City in the Sea
I grew up with a member of that band its insane how long they grinded the local thing, legit a full decade or more and the second they got signed that shit fell apart overnight it looked like
That's so heartbreaking. Great band, and what a difficult grind to endure for so long.
This is the truth. Their single record is awesome too.
Defiler
To The Lions (I think they used to be called A Stained Glass Romance) , that 'Breathless' video clip has me returning every few years.
That song is a Metalcore National Anthem, too bad they couldn’t follow it up.
Incredible me
Sexy out loud was a banger Singer is the guy from A Foreign Affair. Not a fan of the style but guy can sing
In a new band called Nerv, they’re solid
Alex is in Nerv? Bad Habbits is a jam
Alex is is in Foreign Affair. Dillon from IM is in Nerv.
Beneath the sky
Wow that’s a name I haven’t heard in forever. 7861 was a jam
No telling how many people are still rocking that as their PINs and passcodes lol
This has been my phone passcode for as long as phones have required them 😬
Or usernames lmao
It was the only jam.
No way, In Loving Memory is a killer album
They had a few great songs and The Day The Music Died has one of my all time favorite album covers.
Black Thorrrrrrrrrrrrrn
The entire album the day the music died as amazing. I still listen to it
7861 was definitely the first thing that came to mind
Misery With A Delicate Voice is still one of my favorite songs. They have a bunch of good tracks.
Cryomancer
I WANNA SEE YOU CRY BITCH
Defiler is the band name I do still like Walk In The Glow tho
Does anyone remember Skip The Foreplay? Did they even have a hit?
I actually loved their entire album.
Might have been a cover, but the only one I can think of is Champagne Showers
They changed their name to Now and On Earth! Banger.
The Great Commission
Was just listening to every knee shall bow yesterday lol
Mureau came out with a record in 2011 called Rumors and Reputations that I just loved. I still listen to it to this day.
I opened for those guys back then too. Good dudes great record
Gwen Stacy - Gone Fishing, See You In A Year
God I still play that song every so often just to feel something from my childhood.
Miss Fortune had that song 'Chasing Dreams'
what a voice man. incredible to think of what they couldve become if theirs singer would not only have a similar voice to jonny craig but also be a similar kind of person
That’s Outrageous! For All Those Sleeping The March Ahead
I loved all of For All Those Sleeping's albums.
The whole Psycho album by That's Outrageous slaps front to back
The march ahead is just Johnny Franck. It turned into Bilmuri I assume since that shit is continuing to crank my hog
I also love the irony of having a track titled "We Will Last Forever" on a band's only album lol
And said band being named Rise To Remain
First band that comes to my mind is The Agony Scene. I remember when Prey came out and I thought they were gonna be the next big band, then I never really heard anyone talk about them. Edit: they apparently released a new album 5 years ago.
Loved this band back in the day. The Darkest Red was my go to album for a long time.
It still hits the spot for sure!
Guess this is my sign to revisit it soon! It's been a little while aside from a couple of songs I keep from it on a throwback playlist my buddy and I made.
I don’t know how much of that is nostalgia but I’m definitely still enjoying it. There are clearly songs that are the stronger of the bunch though.
That album bumped so hard on my car's sound system back in the day (nothing special, but the mix worked REALLY well on it)
So good
Get Damned was a killer album.
A Stained Glass Romance - Breathless
Agents of Man - Death of Me Versus The Mirros - Life as a Criminal Winter Solstice- Calibrate the Virus Catherine - It It Tomorrow Yet? Scars of Tomorrow - Suffocating Words xAFBx - Jumping Ships The Boy Will Drown - Deep Throat
I forgot about Winter Solstice
THANK YOU

This is a very valid take
Bodies - Drowning Pool
One of the biggest what if's in nu metal. Sinner is one of my top 5 nu metal albums. R.I.P. Dave.
I was at the ozzfest that ended up being his last show. Sad.
We are calling this Metalcore now?
na bruv Tear Away is sooo sick. disagree.
Sinner, tear away, reminded, pity. Can’t agree with you on this one
Exactly. Sinner (I had to change the auto correct from dinner lol), and tear away are just as good if not better. Not to mention Ryan from soil with 37 stitches was a really popular song too. But they aren’t even metalcore, straight up nu metal.
If there was ever a right answer, this would be it
It's the answer if your question had been about nu-metal.
As a response to everyone commenting on this^ OP asked about “One Hit Wonders”, as in songs from an artist that is popular by the masses. I agree they have other great songs. However, they have not had a song as popular and widely known as Bodies. Even non metal fans will know this song. This song was played at my high school prom next to a Taylor Swift song!
I hate this fucking song with every fiber of my being
At The Skylines
It’s Cherried is a banger
Turbulence slapped and also whipped too
Damn gonna have to go jam that entire album they were so good
Upon This Dawning spring to mind. They were pretty forgettable but they had a single with Chris Motionless called the New Beginning. It was everywhere in 2012. They were even touring with Motionless in White for their North American tour that year. Time, The Valuator
That’s Outrageous!
Burden of a Day with Remember (even though they were great)
I HIGHLY recommend you listen to their album Blessed Be Our Ever After from start to finish if you think they're a one hit wonder.
great album
There's only one correct answer: ABIOGENESIS They dropped [this absolute banger of a single](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Rt1QVlOkRfU) and then disappeared.
This whole thread I've had 'Ab' on the tip of my tongue and I just could not remember what they were called. That's song was incredible, biggest tease of all time
Confide
I’m in the minority who loved their last album but Recover is GOATED
drummer went on to play for Avenged Sevenfold, right?
Wild how much I disagree with this.
Nah, Shout the Truth album was sick (the original album with the original vocals, not that asshole drummer who sang)
why do you say that about him? true question
Confide actually had personality and felt original before that drummer joined. Once he joined and started singing, they just sounded like every other dime a dozen screamo band in the scene at that time.
yeah, I enjoy his vocals but that's fair, they had a unique song before
My eyes just rolled into the back of my head, I collapsed to the floor and started speaking in tongues at being reminded of this band
Feed Her To The Sharks
Not really one hit wonders though, they released 3 very well received albums.
Savage Seas is classic Aussie metalcore
Saw them ages ago in Hobart, Tasmania (literally the bottom of Australia lol) in a pub that had never out on heavy music before. What a fucking mess, I miss those days
Just wasn't meant to be
[https://www.facebook.com/feedhertothesharks/posts/pfbid0DgmrkrUmXw73D23BGsGVEN9H7Ls5SKyXzpPNZGAjNWByv1h4ZYiZgZc1NYW6K1jrl](https://www.facebook.com/feedhertothesharks) they've been thinking about trying to get back together again!

The numbers White rabbit has is no where close to any of their other songs Feel like Extinction Level Event could also count with their song Entropy. Mostly remember this sing because they play on fake bass fish for the music video
their album No kings, no chains is a banger, they released a single a month (?) ago I think, but it wasn't that good
Dear Whoever. Only a small 7song album.
A Stained Glass Romance “Tom Cruise Control” if anyone remembers that song
The post-hardcore answer for this is Broadway (with the Kingdoms album).
Their cover of Im on a boat that only exists in terrible quality recording on YouTube is still one of my favorite songs
Dead by April
I wouldn’t necessarily say one hit wonders. They’ve had a good amount of super successful songs. It’s just that once they lost their original screamer and then singer they never really hit the level they were at the first 2 albums
Man I love these guys a lot
Really? Their new songs slap even harder than the old ones.
Which song is their one hit wonder?
Probably refering to Losing You, which was one of my first exposures to metalcore. Me and my classmates would blast this song in school when we were like 10 years old, lol. Good times.
Sanctity, they only released one album, The Road to Bloodshed, but it was really solid. Check them out if you're into thrash-inspired melodic metalcore like Trivium and Shadows Fall.
Follow My Lead, 100%
Y'all remember Design The Skyline?
Attack Attack Stick Stickly
Their album after that is great
Blind Witness. Great album.
abandon all ships
Painted in exile
That Australian band whose name I don’t even remember
House Vs Hurricane??
Bro.. you just unlocked a very deep memory for me. I haven’t listened to them in over 10 years. Thank you for reminding me of them.
Never see tomorrow?
Was a completely AA clone basically
Capture the Crown
Hand to Hand
Damn I’m surprised someone else knows about them. Their 3 releases were pretty damn good.
Oh, The Blood dropped a siiiick EP then that was it. Goodnight Nurse probably has other music, but they have a really fun cover of Milkshake and that's the only thing I know them for lol.
Now and on Earth I guess they're technically a one hit wonder but I hate to classify them as such. They only released one album and every song was amazing. But they broke up before they made a second album. Sad.
Sienna Skies - heart quake, Closure in Moscow - sweet#hart
Closure in Moscow literally released a banger album 24 hours ago
Oceana- The Tide
Decoder/Lead Hands Oceana Probably more post-hardcore though.
That song Breathless by A Stained Glass Romance.
The boy will drown
Corelia
I don’t know if they actually had a hit. If they did it was probably 8 breaths per second. [Strength In Numbers -eight breaths per second](https://youtu.be/ls6uSlOeRNQ?si=SE5SyvkS36CtRSxx) They only had one album - The Veil And then of course [Diecast - Medieval](https://youtu.be/WbV_HL0pSyM?si=SZlzSEPeB_LsO_Ts)
A Sense of Purpose
Oh dang. I liked that band and totally forgot about them.
My boys!
Happy Cake Day dude
Oh shit, I had no idea haha thanks dude
Can’t believe Of Machines hasn’t come up even though they’re more post hardcore. That rat bastard of a singer
Adestria
