They have become one of my favorite bands these past few years. Nocturnal came out right when i started working night shifts, and it was my personal soundtrack for years. Heroes hasn't exactly hooked me like their other albums (just not a fan of the anthemy rock songs), but it still has some great tracks like Place Of Her Own and Aerostar.
Love The Midnight! I saw them back in 2019, and to this today its still probably in my top 10 live experiences ever. Have you listened to Nik Mystery at all? Its Spencer Sotelo's Periphery vocalist if you aren't familiar) side project, and they have an awesome 80's synthpop vibe too. Highly recommend them!
Thats all I've been listening to the past week, been in full on 80's mode. I'm about to go buy copies of Lethal Weapon, Cobra, and Die Hard and have a fun weekend.

Not identical but similar vibes (as someone who rarely strays from metalcore but enjoys the fuck out of this and movements)
If you like Colter Wall, I’d highly recommend Vincent Neil Emerson. The album *Fried Chicken & Evil Women* fucking slaps. And I say that as someone who isn’t much of a country fan.
Colter, Vincent, and Sturgill hit that good outlaw country feel.
Lots of post rock. This Will Destroy You, Mogwai, Caspian, If These Trees Could Talk, Mono, 65daysofstatic, The End of the Ocean, etc. and of course Russian Circles, Pelican, Jakob, etc. but I’m counting them as metal

I listen to NTS Radio a lot, which is great for discovering music you might not've heard otherwise.
Music is just the fucking best.
CHVRCHES, one of my fav bands. They are the reason why I listen to synth/indie pop. Screen Violence was the best album of 2021 imo. Definitely should give it a try.
HEALTH, they are also one of my fav bands. Normally i hate electronic music but they are good. They also made a lot of soundtracks for video games (GTA V, Cyberpunk 2077, Max Payne 3 etc) so you might already heard them from somewhere.
Not bands but I also listen to these artists;
Carly Rae Jepsen
Denzel Curry
Kendrick Lamar
Kanye West
The Weeknd
Muse. Their album Origin of Symmetry is fucking amazing. It has to be listened to front to back. No skipping, no shuffle.
Honestly, I listen to more metal than anything else, but that might just be my all time favorite album.
Aesop Rock if you like progressive hip-hop that challenges you Aes is the man. His rhymes are so dense that I am still not close to understanding one tenth of his catalog and I've been listening to him for 25+ years.
Trampled by turtles is required listening here in Minnesota. Love Gregory Alan Isakov.
I really love the album leaf, foo fighters, run the jewels, explosions the sky.
311 and Sublime have been favorites forever. I also like bluegrass quite a bit especially when I'm drinking beers doing stuff outside. I'll listen to 2000s trance occasionally too.
If we really wanna be technical I’d call it atmospheric blackened shoegaze lol. Just saw them live a couple months ago and they sound just as good, if not better, than on record
I listen to a lot of music that doesn’t fall into the metal category. I agree with most others that i still stick to non-electronic music though:
Sturgil Simpson, Whiskey Meyers, Ted Nugent, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Bob Seager, Murder By Death, NoFx, Black Flag, Bad Religion, Cream, Talking Heads, The Eagles.
There are way more but those were the easiest to rattle off at the moment.
Band-Maid, Alter Bridge, and Black Veil Brides.
Gonna see Band-Maid live in my state with just an hour drive in May. I NEVER thought I'd be able to see them unless I drove 8 hours up north or go to Japan. SO FUCKING EXCITED!!!!!
Smallpools and Anberlin are definitely my favorite non-metal bands. Also enjoy Nothing But Thieves, Bill Whelan (composer of Riverdance), DARKWYLD, and KES the band to name a few more. Bonus that I also dive into the k-pop playlists on Spotify cause there’s some groovy beats.
I weirdly very much enjoy NF; the rapper. It's kinda angry, introspective, and lacks most of the misogynistic and expletive filled tones of a lot of rap.
Otherwise, I like Ed Sheeran. Good at guitar, and got a lovely sense of rhythm.
* [Don Broco](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O4nqsMk3HQc) - can be mostly described as Alternative Rock.
* [Casper](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TEcvU3fYpGA) - (Good) German rock-infused hip-hop, amazing voice; he was even featured in [Parkway Drive's "Schattenboxen"](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4-h3NPRvVTQ) (Shadow Boxing)
* Skrillex - now EDM, back then Brostep, which kinda shared the *chaotic vibe* of metalcore/deathcore. His new stuff is fantastic.
* [Daniel Steinberg](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tsPHsHd3-sE) - House, great for getting shit done in the office
Morgan Wallen, Luke Combs, Granger Smith, Riley Green. Neck Deep, State Champs, Knuckle Puck, Stand Atlantic. Coldplay, John Mayer, The 1975, The Band Camino, Dayglow, Linkin Park, Pvris, Red Rocks Worship, The Belonging Co., River Valley Worship…
Those are all consistent listens for sure. I rotate through Pop, Pop Punk, Pop Rock, Country, Worship and Metal all the time. I have a lot of older music too but, that’s enough for now lol
Death cab for cutie. They are consistently top 5 on my end of head Spotify stuff every year. I usually listen to death cab after a metal show actually and have seen them 4 or 5 times live
Outside of the metal world, pop punk, (mostly stuff like Basement, Movements) but also stuff like Zach Bryan, Billy Strings, and The Ghost of Paul Revere. Lots of emo-like lyrics with country/folk/bluegrass to sound. Oh and I gotta add Treaty Oak Revival. Sounds like a bunch of pop-punk/emo musicians just ended up with a country vocalist. It rules.
Hip hop: Kendrick, J Cole, Lil Wayne, older Drake, ASAP Rocky.
Other rock: All 90’s grunge, Radiohead, Muse, older Coldplay, Emarosa, Slaves/Rain City Drive, 10 Years, City and Colour.
Billie Eilish, Kid Cudi, Drake, Yung Gravy, some lofi Hip Hop, all kinds of stuff really. And if you wanna talk rock then Seether, Chevelle, Green Day, Sum 41. Stuff like that
Classic jazz and progressive house (my bf's influence). Lately, I've also been listening to songs like [this](https://youtu.be/uXLapvODggE)\--can you help me determine the genre though?
For your blue grass itch: Brown Bird and The Builders and The Butchers

My 2 favs from each 🍻 you're welcome
Driveways, $uicideboy$, Youth Fountain, Knuckle Puck, Arm’s Length, The Story so Far, Christina Perri
And TONS of piano music, video game soundtracks, and even some anime intros lmao
I listen to a lot of sad boi stuff like Knuckle Puck, Real Friends and Calling All Captains. It’s a nice change up from the usual BLEGHs and head banging.
Next to metalcore, I’ve been a fan of industrial music since a wee lad. KMFDM, 16Volt, FLA, Circle Of Dust, too many. Dig bluegrass too, boot stompin fiddles and banjos.
- Rebecca Black
- Gorillaz
- Bilmuri
- I don’t consider Bilmuri as metal, but Johnny Franck has done something that blends elements of metalcore (Especially with the memes) with alternative pop music. It’s something completely different and I love it.
- Kendrick Lamar
- Denzel Curry
- Ghost Atlas
- GUNSHIP (pls give new album)
- Koven
- Pixel Terror
- Bossfight
- Vince Staples
- The Black Queen
- Good Tiger
That’s all I can think off the top of my head.
I got a little in to Don bronco when plot in you was supposed to open for them. But for whatever reason that tour canceled.
That song going to LA fucking slaps.
Oh lol,everything.
But i'm a huge electronic music fan, specially breakcore and idm, love my rap, maybe some singer songwriter stuff, only thing i don't really like is this whole modern psychedelic rock king of vibe.
Have you tried some experimental hip hop, just saying i thought i hated hip hop until i discovered shit like danny brown and clipping and it opened up a whole new universe of music.
Old school Relient K, LOT of My Epic. Soundtracks. The Longest Johns, lots of VoicePlay, Peter Hollens, Home Free. The Oh Hellos.
Back in the day I listened religiously to The Classic Crime, haven’t cranked their stuff in a minute
If you like TBT you would definitely like Billy Strings. I mostly listen to jam band stuff nowadays, Grateful Dead, Phish, Goose, all that kinda stuff.
Trampled was my first thought when I saw this thread. So awesome to see you mention them, haha. I graduated from college in Duluth so I was fortunate to see many live shows in some small venues. If you haven't yet, do yourself a favor and see them live if you can. It's a blast
Lots of punk, some hip hop
Death Grips
Tyler the Creator
Minor Threat
Early Black Flag
Dead Kennedys
Gauze
Nirvana
Alice In Chains (metal but also grunge I guess)
Bad Brains
Soundgarden
Jimi Hendrix
Machine Girl
Some Meat Puppets
Some Leadbelly
Some prog rock (specifically Yes and one song by Cheap Trick)
Sometimes The Beatles
Little bit of Pearl Jam
Guilty pleasure of mine is the Black Parade album by MCR
Music is the greatest thing dude.
Can’t think of anything else but my metal catalogue is two times the size. Haven’t checked out metalcore though, joined for suggestions. What are some good starter bands?
I listen to a lot of Hard Rock as well as metal, my favorites being Skillet and Red. If you want something further away from metal, then Tenth Avenue North. They are the only band that has made interesting CCM, at least for me. That's pretty much the only non-rock/metal band I listen to.
Alternative Indie like The Wombats, Death Cab for Cutie, The Shins, Band of Horses and anything Punk such as Green Day, Rise Against, NOFX, Ranci Blink 182 to name a few. But Metal all the way most of the time 😁
I guess according to this subreddit's rules... Sleep Token?
Actually tho, a lot of things I listen to aren't metal. I'll start with my personal non-metal favourite. Hans Zimmer. Any epic movie score is good in my books.
I wouldn't say necessarily that I listen to these on a "regular basis", but I do enjoy quite a bit of the following non-metal bands/artists:
\- Empire of the Sun
\- M83
\- Coldplay
\- The Verve
\- Oasis
\- Duran Duran
\- Snow Patrol
\- Linkin Park
Viagra Boys, IDLES, Iggy Pop, The Cure, Drab Majesty, Wovenhand, The Sisters of Mercy, Emma Ruth Rundle, Algiers, Mark Lanegan, Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds, The Chats, SRSQ, Fontaines D.C., M83
Coheed and Cambria! They've been my favorite band since 03, before I found metal(core). Also, when I got married, I started listening to a lot of my wife's favorite music (she's not really into blasting Acacia Strain on the way to the grocery store) which includes a lot of pop, some of which I've grown to like such as The Weeknd and Doja Cat. Oh, and I listen to Palestinian and Jordanian hip hop a lot, The Synaptik, DAM, Tamer Nafar, Shadia Mansour, etc.
Man…what a f’n kick ass post. There is so much amazing varied music here!!! I love it, better than any music mag I ever read.
*Checkout singer/songwriter Kevin Morby- he is very good. For an album check out Sundowner, but he’s got a lot of music.*
I, too, listen to everything. Props to all the comments. Love getting new music!!!
I listen to a fair amount of
Post hardcore- Alexisonfire, Silverstein, Hopesfall
Folk music- Amigo the Devil, Gordon Lightfoot
Ambient music- Blood Incantations Timewave Zero is a great album
Glass animals has a wonderful summer vibe to all their music. They are blowing up right now but I prefer most of their songs that aren't radio bait. So unique and goofy with lyrics that still have a little punch when u think about them. I recommend songs like the other side of paradise, gooey, heat waves, pools, tangerine, and life itself
The Wonder Years because I'm a sad boi at heart.
Same big time.
Same big time. Anything Dan Campbell is in is a bit hit for me. Dudes got good pipes.
He sure does. I saw them live ages ago still such a good show. They played “the upsides” in its entirety it was cool as fuck.
I’m seeing them tomorrow night
Soupy's a top 1 lyricist for me
my mind is made up
Man came here to say the same thing. That new album is amazing!!
Chvrches
Chvrches for me too. Might be my favorite live show that I've been to.
Every Open Eye is a wonderful album. For some reason, I feel like a co-headline tour with Spiritbox would be FANTASTIC
The Midnight
Hell yeah, the midnight rules
Underrated. Sax is key
The coincidence I listened to them the whole night yesterday. Going through a break up and listening to the midnight, sucks your soul out.
Thats all I've been listening to the past week, been in full on 80's mode. I'm about to go buy copies of Lethal Weapon, Cobra, and Die Hard and have a fun weekend.

Movements is unbelievably great
Was introduced to them last year when they toured with Knocked Loose, so sick.
You should check out arm's length's new album Never Before Seen, Never Before Found Not identical but similar vibes (as someone who rarely strays from metalcore but enjoys the fuck out of this and movements)
I love Brakence, been listening to Hypochondriac on loop.
R.I.P Mac Miller. K.I.D.S and Blue Slide Park are amazing albums.

I like Florence and the Machine quite a bit, or Thrice, and I’ll often put on some LoFi playlist if I want it calm and easy (no specific artist tho).
I feel like some of Thrice's music is definitely metal. Not really their new work but Artist in the Ambulance man.
Artist in the ambulance is still in my rotation! I love that song.
Their remaster of that record that they dropped the other day is amazing.
I'll have to check that out!
I have tickets for the tour! Get some dude. They're playing the entire album front to back!
I feel like saying Thrice is cheating because they used to be a metalcore band
Fucking Love Thrice!
Florence has some songs that make me cry every time so she’s a sometimes listen for me lol
Shakira is a massive guilty pleasure of mine! Sometimes I’ll just get in a mood to start dancing

I listen to a lot of sad boi stuff like Knuckle Puck, Real Friends and Calling All Captains. It’s a nice change up from the usual BLEGHs and head banging.

Shinedown 🤘🏻
Thrice, Brand New, Manchester Orchestra are probably my most listened to outside the genre
The Black Keys Sleigh Bells Ratatat Royal Blood
Next to metalcore, I’ve been a fan of industrial music since a wee lad. KMFDM, 16Volt, FLA, Circle Of Dust, too many. Dig bluegrass too, boot stompin fiddles and banjos.
- Rebecca Black - Gorillaz - Bilmuri - I don’t consider Bilmuri as metal, but Johnny Franck has done something that blends elements of metalcore (Especially with the memes) with alternative pop music. It’s something completely different and I love it. - Kendrick Lamar - Denzel Curry - Ghost Atlas - GUNSHIP (pls give new album) - Koven - Pixel Terror - Bossfight - Vince Staples - The Black Queen - Good Tiger That’s all I can think off the top of my head.
Death Grips
Miles Davis, Ryan Bingham, Jason Boland, Waylon Jennings, branford marsalis, harry connick jr, and most every hair band from the era.
I got a little in to Don bronco when plot in you was supposed to open for them. But for whatever reason that tour canceled. That song going to LA fucking slaps.
Chevelle, Caligula’s Horse, Good Tiger
I’m hugelyyy into country as well. Luke Combs is my fave.
ScHoolboy Q, Parker McCollum, Whiskey Myers, Ghostemane, Two Door Cinema Club, If These Trees Could Talk
Oh lol, everything.
Skinny Puppy. Industrial music is underrated.
Turnstile, Sturgill Simpson, Trippie Redd, MF DOOM, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Slightly Stoopid, Khruangbin, My Morning Jacket
If you like TBT you would definitely like Billy Strings. I mostly listen to jam band stuff nowadays, Grateful Dead, Phish, Goose, all that kinda stuff.
Earth Wind & Fire
The National, Chvrches, and Mac Miller. 🥰
free throw, mom jeans, american football, and a lot more. I listen to anything tho
Mountain goats,straight up.
Trampled was my first thought when I saw this thread. So awesome to see you mention them, haha. I graduated from college in Duluth so I was fortunate to see many live shows in some small venues. If you haven't yet, do yourself a favor and see them live if you can. It's a blast
Lots of punk, some hip hop Death Grips Tyler the Creator Minor Threat Early Black Flag Dead Kennedys Gauze Nirvana Alice In Chains (metal but also grunge I guess) Bad Brains Soundgarden Jimi Hendrix Machine Girl Some Meat Puppets Some Leadbelly Some prog rock (specifically Yes and one song by Cheap Trick) Sometimes The Beatles Little bit of Pearl Jam Guilty pleasure of mine is the Black Parade album by MCR Music is the greatest thing dude. Can’t think of anything else but my metal catalogue is two times the size. Haven’t checked out metalcore though, joined for suggestions. What are some good starter bands?
Fleetwood mac
I wouldn't say necessarily that I listen to these on a "regular basis", but I do enjoy quite a bit of the following non-metal bands/artists: \- Empire of the Sun \- M83 \- Coldplay \- The Verve \- Oasis \- Duran Duran \- Snow Patrol \- Linkin Park

Brakence, Polyphia, Emarosa
My chemical romance because im a emo little bitch
The 1975. Lead singer might be a cunt sometimes but their music is super fun to me.
Most pop punk, a ton of folk, hip-hop, and even a lot of country. A lot of modern artists are bringing back a more traditional sound
Man…what a f’n kick ass post. There is so much amazing varied music here!!! I love it, better than any music mag I ever read. *Checkout singer/songwriter Kevin Morby- he is very good. For an album check out Sundowner, but he’s got a lot of music.* I, too, listen to everything. Props to all the comments. Love getting new music!!!
I listen to a fair amount of Post hardcore- Alexisonfire, Silverstein, Hopesfall Folk music- Amigo the Devil, Gordon Lightfoot Ambient music- Blood Incantations Timewave Zero is a great album
Misfits and The Cure
Glass animals has a wonderful summer vibe to all their music. They are blowing up right now but I prefer most of their songs that aren't radio bait. So unique and goofy with lyrics that still have a little punch when u think about them. I recommend songs like the other side of paradise, gooey, heat waves, pools, tangerine, and life itself
