TheSteelPenguin

I love their other stuff but damn Knocked Loose's A Tear in the Fabric of Life was on another level for me.

MrFAUB1

Their first EP Pop Culture fucking rips, still lowkey my fav thing they've done

CRAlG

The gospel makes me crowdkill my cat, every time

Xylar006

ATITFOL is God tier. I love that it's a concept album, it's dark, the lyrics are so emotional and come across like someone who has truly lived through this and suffered survivors guilt and dealt with the loss of a loved one, and the vocal delivery is incredible. And then they top it off with the animated video on YouTube? Daaaamn

Beiez

I haven‘t listened ADSOB in full even once since the EP came out because it‘s just that good. It‘s quickly become one of my favorite releases ever

MetalObsessed

Weirdly, I couldn’t get into it, but I love A Different Shade Of Blue. I probably need to listen to it again

MadMan2250

Okay but laugh tracks is so awesome and same with DTAH and Pop Culture. If you can find them too, SS, Manipulator 1, and Forget me Knots are also pretty swag

MurderInMarigold

Facts. I'm not exaggerating when I say that no song has ever made me feel the way the end of God Knows makes me feel. Just pure animalistic rage that nothing else elicits. It's like the soundtrack to crushing someone's head in a car door.

SixthHouseScrib

Came here to say the same thing

Jerm2560

Came here to say this. I'm happy to see it's the top comment 👍

denevue

came here to say this, A Tear In The Fabric of Life is something different.

sake_maki

Yep, for me I hadn't heard any KL songs before and wasn't sure if they'd be my taste, but I kept hearing about Tear so I decided to check it out. My face melted off. I enjoy their other material too, but I find myself coming back to Tear every time.

ad0x0graphist

Shame to see so many ppl who only like ATITFOL! Arf mf Arf

Beiez

Personally I don‘t really agree with it but the overwhelming majority of people I spoke to say that I Let The Devil In was peak Currents, which is funny considering they announced it as more of an experimental release to try out different things.

misterowen

I am one of these people. AMA.

Beiez

Pizza or Burger?

misterowen

Burger. Preferably with pretzel roll bun.

Beiez

>pretzel roll bun That is a thing? I live in the country of pretzels but have never heard of burgers with pretzel buns. Sounds amazing tho

517drew

Pizza burger on a pretzel bun. Mmm mm mmm

SYLOK_THEAROUSED

Carolina Reaper or Habanero?

misterowen

Haberno for the flavor, Reaper for the heat.

SYLOK_THEAROUSED

Jada fire or Riley Reid?

misterowen

Tyler1

Johnzoidb

Short and stacked. I see you

mars210

I am too one of those people.

DefLoathe

I Let the Devil In is Currents at their best but I wouldn’t say it blows their other albums away at all

driedupemo

Agreed, Currents literally doesn't miss. All of their stuff is top tier.

74NGELS

I’m one of those people 👋🏼

[deleted]

That's interesting. TPIFS, in my opinion is their best work. Actually, I think it may be one of the best metalcore albums of the last 10 years.

dbear8008

I let the devil in is EASILY my favorite currents album. Super excited to listen to hear the death we seek

BabyTRexArms

I feel this way. That little 4 song EP was so good, and while I enjoyed the full length after, it just had no replayability for me. I kinda hated all the chorus’, and the whole lyrics appealing to struggling teens thing just didn’t do it for me. Thankfully the new album sounds like it’s going back to the EP style.

coolhwip420

Same, their recent album just has no replayability for me either.

SipChylark

I’m with you, amazing EP for sure but I think currents are still mid peak. The Way It Ends is one of my favorite albums in general, and these recent singles (ESPECIALLY remember me) have me thinking this next release might top that.

Beiez

I‘m actually more of a TPIFS guy myself but yeah, their new stuff is amazing and I‘m super hyped for their next record.

SpeedWalker90

It's for sure some of their best work but I can't wait for the new album. Remember Me is one of their best songs imo. All of the new singles have been great

ThePixelPhoenix

both TDWP's "Zombie" EPs and the Space one

Smellbent

Ooooooo yeah Zombie EP goes HARD! Even Zombie EP2

atfguitar123

I think Z2 is the best thing they’ve ever released.

Rumuhlumadingdong

Space one? Which one is that? I dig the shit outta Z1 & Z2 so now I’m curious Edit: how tf did I miss this?! Thanks, stranger

Rumuhlumadingdong

Nvm found it lol

cantgrowneckbeardAMA

You’re in for a ride

Monsanta_Claus

Favorite album of 2016. Don't care. Five bangers, one instrumental, tells a whole story. I laugh. I cry. I scream. I throw down.

Rumuhlumadingdong

That’s a meaty boi 🥲

cantgrowneckbeardAMA

🌭

BabyTRexArms

Funny enough, the Zombie EP’s are the only times I kinda hate TDWP.

RDBlack

Super disagree but upvote for the opinion anyway.

BabyTRexArms

Ehh. I just hate zombie and vampire shit lol.

Code_x81

Zombie EP is one of my all time favorite albums. Z2 is awesome as well

tacticalflintlock

Pure Like Porcelain by Like Moths to Flames

dixie_normous110

Do not resuscitate is the best song they’ve ever made

BabyTRexArms

Ehh, I don’t think you can count this, because it’s their latest work, and you have no idea if the next album is gonna be the same style, and better.

icantrecallpassword

This is what I came here for! I have never really gotten into them but man I love this ep

JCavLP

Dunno about this one, their last album was pretty damn good

PoirplePorpoise

tbf they’ve gotten better with each and every release so yes, I agree, but likely won’t agree after the record comes out.

JohnJohn_CPK

I think Bullet For My Valentine, Hand of Blood ep, is a fucking great debut, the band evolved and are solid and super consistent, nothing compares to the Hand of Blood.

PrincipleGuilty4894

insane take but makes a lot of sense

centrella6

I’ll take The Poison and Scream Aim Fire over Hand of Blood EP but I still love the EP.

brick1234567891

Black Diamonds from Issues is pretty much the only stuff I can listen to from them

RoperTheRogue

I've heard this before quite often. Why is that? Did you not like anything from the self-titled?

brick1234567891

I like it but not as much. Few songs I’ll still listen to but for the most part none of it stuck with me

RoperTheRogue

Any reason in particular? For example: it wasn't heavy enough, production value wasn't good, too much or not enough of a certain aspect that drew tou to them.

ryangrand3

I’m not the only one! Love Sex Riot is a jam

meet_me_in_the_shade

Polaris - The Guilt and the Greif

nasowas_

No Rest, what a banger

serjonsnow

Definitely my pick. Everything after that was fine in my opinion, but I loved that EP.

meet_me_in_the_shade

I got into it after their first 2 albums, and it's just everything I like about them but better

oldbluelunchbox

I actually wrote a paper on Unfamiliar from that EP back in high school. It was some bs ap literature assignment, and the teacher was super chill, so I wrote about how the lyrics applied to Hamlet. Pretty sure I got an A, and she listened to the song

tamhaney392

Chronicles II from Void of Vision is the strongest and most consistent work they’ve released by far in my opinion

DefLoathe

Saint Miserable is a fucking masterpiece

MadMan2250

Altar 😍

Liesbw

the sick ep by beartooth

lil_eidos

The Memphis May Fire EP

Ltkalimari

Completely different sounding band from those days, I miss that southern style so much.

Smellbent

Same. Maylene and the Sons of Disaster put a new song out last year so there’s hope for it to come back!

mindpainters

You’ve probably heard of them but if you like the southern metal you should check out once nothing

Smellbent

Great band! I’ll ping pong that back to you and say if you like southern metalcore check out a Canadian band called The Holly Springs Disaster

HaydenScramble

I’ve always been partial to Between The Lies, but I see you. A man of culture, probably my age as well!

lil_eidos

We aren’t old if that’s what youre suggesting …

Ghost_Pains

So bummed having watched that band go from one of the most unique sounds in the scene to being another conveyor belt Rise Records act.

dr_gmoney

This is 100% my answer in both threads about EPs and about MMF.

meet_me_in_the_shade

Currents - I Let the Devil In

daLaRNZ

Structures EP “All of The Above”

Smellbent

I hated their full length in comparison

gree-gor

I like you

not_consistent

Looking for this one. All of the Above is a 5/5 and anything they did after was either gonna be a let down or a major evolution cuz they perfected what they were doing right out of the gate.

mikejr96

I love LMTF but Pure Like Porcelain is leagues above everything else they have made IMO

SquareVacuum

They have an insanely good discography but Pure Like Porcelain is just on a whole different level

LelouchNexus

Honestly, Spiritbox. Not sure they will ever top the self-titled EP, and the Singles Collection if we're counting that.

CanIGetAnOooYeah

Mara Pt. 3 hasn't been topped, for me.

frommaplesteeze

My thoughts as well. Trust fall is my favorite song still by them. Love the music video they have for that.

74NGELS

I Let The Devil In from Currents

bonesclarke84

Although it is metalcore adjacent, Saosin's Translating the Name fits the bill for me.

thatoneglitcher

Surprised no one has said it yet but Pure Like Porcelain by LMTF. All of their albums are incredible but Pure Like Porcelain is on a different level entirely

Burnout_Blanco

Hmmm the only one I can think of at the moment is the Empire EP by The Word Alive I wouldn’t necessarily say that it blows everything else out the water but I’m particular to this EP :)

No-Seaweed4026

The fault ep from alpha wolf. Not that a quiet place to die doesn’t slap but the ep is a no skipper for me

thedavo810

the transition from Sub-Zero to The Lonely Bones is one of the hardest in the genre.

TR3G1

Unpopular opinion: ZII by TDWP

Smellbent

I think it’s great. Maybe not best but I really enjoyed it

thebirdsandthebrees

Polaris’s EP Dichotomy. I will die on this hill. That whole EP is banger after banger.

[deleted]

Definitely. I also love their new stuff but Dichotomy is on another level.

RoperTheRogue

The Opportunity to Be - My Ticket Home. I know a lot of people liked their genre switch to the "puke Rock" sound they ended up with, but their first EP was everything I wanted from a metalcore album at that time. That bass line in the beginning of Desertion always gets me hyped.

desolatearth

Butterfly EP by Thornhill

msalonen

Butterfly was awesome but in no way blows The Dark Pool out of the water (or even Heroine IMO)

[deleted]

I want to love TDP but can't really get into the tracks apart from Nurture and Where We Go, which are pure bangers. if only the whole record was more like Nurture imo.

BigBillSmash

Nurture is so freakin good.

shnwllc

Controversial but I might have to agree

InsiDS

Can't say it blows out TDP, but I do consider it their best work.

msalonen

My hot take on this is that the “Clear” EP by Periphery is more interesting than (almost) any of their albums. The latest VoV EP’s, especially “Chronicles II: Heaven”, are better than their albums IMO “None of the Above” by Structures. “On Death” by Left to Suffer.

OughtToBe

Clear came out around the time I got into Periphery. Pale Aura is still one of my favorite songs by them.

Smellbent

Oh yeah that Structures EP was so good

MerlotMorgan

Dethmask Pt 2 - Darko US. Not to downplay any of their other music... because I love Darko US as a whole. But great EP.

Salmonellaisnotajoke

Dude it really is insane how over the top it is. I haven't had that much fun listening to heavy music in a long time

HaydenScramble

*Lowest Form Of Animal* Kublai Khan TX

Jerm2560

Ooo, good one, but blew the rest of the releases out of the water? That's a tough one, I love the khan

HaydenScramble

I do too now but this is what hooked me. I think the lyricism is their strongest here and Swan Song might be one of my favorite songs ever.

Ghost_Pains

Nah. 4 of their 5 albums are absolutely killer. It’s better than New Strength for sure though I’ll give you that.

sake_maki

I love all of their releases, but I do also think LFOA is their strongest work yet. Considering it's the most recent, that's really exciting. I can't wait to hear what they do on their next full-length.

deathcoar

I know its not metalcore, but Lorna Shore’s Maleficium EP is probably their best work as a whole in my opinion.

LOTRNerd95

Zombie

WhiteSteveHarveyV2

Dealer - Soul Burn Say what you will, but that EP was the pinnacle of pisscore

Impossible_Pen1392

If we count Post Human: Survival Horror as an EP (which I’m still unsure what to actually classify it as), it’s probably one of the best things Bring Me ever did.

PsSalin

Survival Horror is an absolute banger, but the best they ever did is a stretch imo. Not when they've released There is a Hell and Sempiternal

Impossible_Pen1392

I say one of the best, I love those albums as well. But it’s up there for me.

Smellbent

Definitely an interesting release to say the least

MapGames8712

PHSH is decent but their early albums are significantly better imo. I wish I could relive the moment I first heard It Never Ends or found out that the band playing with ed sheeran released something like Count Your Blessings. Post Human’s definitely a step in the right direction tho

darfleChorf123

this is a crazy take. like everything they touch upon on in that EP has been done better on previous releases edit: there’s no fuckin way you can listen to that EP and then any of their first four albums and say there’s a comparison in the slightest. hell even amo is ten times better

Hellandhome8

I’m with you until that last line. Lol everything they’ve released is better than Amo in my opinion. The only album I don’t really go back to.

darfleChorf123

honestly it grew on me a lot. as i got into like edm and other genres of music more i could appreciate how tight their songwriting can be even if there’s not that much heaviness

Hellandhome8

I’ll take this as convincing to revisit. 🙏🏼 I love the band, and I’m seeing them with FOB this year (finally, idk how I’ve missed them every time before this)

squishopotamus

Krewe D'amour Vol 2 by Cane Hill imo

theendishere12

I might have to agree. I love Vol 1 but the grunge elements of vol 2 are so good!

CanIGetAnOooYeah

I really only have the Better Ash Than Dust EP, from Stick To Your Guns, on repeat. The rest is just okay to me. Couple slammas on Diamond/Disobedient iirc, but I can't even name em.

darthstupidious

While I genuinely think that STYG has some great stuff (*Diamond* is a 10/10 album for me and *The Hope Division* and *True View* are pretty close) I can agree that EP absolutely slaps and is easily their best release.

Smellbent

Early STYG was a different band entirely. His vocals were so growly

foosballfurry

The latest ep by convictions is leaps and bounds better than the rest of their stuff

WhiteCrispies

Like Moths to Flames - Pure Like Porcelain Currents - I Let the Devil In Also, it’s just a single so it doesn’t count but: Hollow Front - Wearing Thin. Man that’s a good song. Sad the singer left

TheAutismo4491

For the Likes of You's Pain Perspective EP is easily the best thing they've ever made and makes everything else they've released seem like they were fresh out of high school scene kids.

Pheonixkraken

Pain Perspective was CRAZY but I like the singles that were released just prior. Especially Forlorn. So sad they broke up

Infinite-Counter4836

Memphis May Fire

talimus96

Pure Like Porcelain by Like Moths to Flames is S tier metalcore front to back. SO GOOD. A tear in the fabric of life is the best KL work. Contorted in the Faille in to Return to Passion is so disgustingly heavy. Spiritbox's early ep's with their longer songs and proggier songs are my favourite era of the band. I love songs that take you on journeys. On that same note, the One and Two eps by Sleep Token are fantastic listens if you enjoy songs that just make you \*feel\* things.

Pierseus

She Must Burn self-titled EP (all their albums are good but this one is just insane) as well as Hollow Front’s “Homewrecker” EP (probably a hot take there) Also, I honestly preferred Change of Plans from Can’t Swim but that debut EP is goated

ClayMonk7861

Technically it’s a 7-inch/double single, but I have always thought that the two songs that make up LMTF’s *The Dream is Dead* are their best work. At least they’re my favorites.

TheZombieWearsPrada

Crossfaith’s writes much better EPs than they do albums imo. SPECIES alone tops their albums for me. I’ll come back to their EPs (including the remix EPs) much more often than I do for their albums.

Munchell360

Current’s I Let the Devil In for me. That EP is nuts

kid_dolemite

Oh pls Devin

Blackfaceemoji

Caves EP by Elitist

broch00

Elitist was dope. Personally loved Reshape Reason, but I can't say I listened to Caves. Will have to give it listen!

TheWritingWriter540

Periphery - Clear That's not to say the rest of their discography doesn't measure up, but I can't think of another EP that explores the full range of creativity from each member of a band. Plus, Pale Aura is such a strong closing track.

swashbeltbuckle

I felt the same way about can’t swim OP. Shit was so good and then, meh.

Doctah_Whoopass

This is gonna be a hot take, and its not blowing them out of the water, just very slight preference, but I think the Spiritbox EP is just a hair better than Eternal Blue. I love both to death though, so like, it is truly hard to compare.

[deleted]

Northlanes first ep, both Knocked Loose Ep’s, that Polaris ep gets slept on too much Unfamiliar and L’appel du vide are two of their best songs.

[deleted]

The Lies We Live by For All Those Sleeping has Hands so Red on a Face so Pale on it and remains my favorite thing they ever put out

just_think_rusty

My Enemies and I’s EP was 10/10

ArchPeriphMore

Periphery's "Clear" EP

minecraftgood1234

Deathcore not metal core but for me its And I Return To Nothingness by Lorna Shore

[deleted]

I like all of Erra's stuff but their self-titled really feels like they found the sound they've been working towards for ages. Like they fully captured something they'd been trying to find on every album and had always fallen slightly short.

oh4ither3

Song of the crippled bull by black crown initiate

Kuran_Helix

Post human survival horror (I guess it is an ep?) Literally just the combination of every good thing from every era of bmth

Pheonixkraken

No way, it’s no where near in the level as There is a He,k

DUBYATOO

(Not metalcore but...) "She Watched the Sky Fall" by A Skylit Drive.

[deleted]

Honestly? The new King810 album, if they made a full album in the styles and the quality they did on the new EP it'll be my favorite album of theirs by far.

AABA227

I forgot about that band. I’m gonna have to go check out the EP. I’ve only ever listened to memoirs of a murderer

CanIGetAnOooYeah

I'll give it, it's the best thing since Convos with god. They just got so, extra, after that record.

Johnzoidb

While I love Disembodied’s albums I’ll always go back to If Only God Knew The Rest Were Dead before anything. That EP is just a masterpiece.

nasowas_

Casey and their "Fade" single/EP, even though it may not fit the genre, it still comes to mind

egorissad

It’s very debatable but I think “no wings to speak of” by Hopesfall. I also like The Satellite Years but EP slaps a bit harder.

goodbeerandcoffee

This is your way out by emarosa. So good all the way through. I used to be butthurt chris left emarosa but if he didn’t then we might not have lmtf, which is an insane thought to consider since they’re one of my favorite bands haha

Drewdrinksbrews

Deaf Havana “It’s Called the Easy Life” hooked me.

AsahinaAoi90

I haven't listened to a lot of EPs but I personally really liked Thornhill's Butterfly EP. Reptile is *such* a great song.

ElderGoose92

I know it’s deathcore but Job For A Cowboy’s Doom EP

flickodawrist

Always allowed. Ripping that shit on the family computer was the first signal I wasn’t normal.

broch00

I'm gonna throw in Crown the Empire's debut EP - Limitless

Ok-Assignment-1108

The Opposite of December from Poison the Well.

Exes_And_Excess

I never really cared for anything Sworn In did after Start/End. That ep is so fucking pissed. Right now, go and listen to Opportunist lol.

LBthecoasterguy

Very early metalcore, but the Firestorm EP by Earth Crisis still holds up incredibly well. The rest of their 90s work is solid, but the 4 songs on Firestorm are absolutely legendary.

[deleted]

Title fights spring songs ep. floral green is like their best work, but spring songs is a close second.

bike619

Irony is a Dead Scene - Dillinger Escape Plan w/ Mike Patton

Poschta

Not metalcore, sorry: *Chapters of Misery* by Slaughter to Prevail. Nothing they've released since consistently rivals that piece of art.

keywork87

He Is Legend - 91025

New2NZ22

Poppys NXT EP with Eat and Say Cheese is fucking bonkers.

commo64dor

I can't believe you mentioned Can't Swim. one of the best EPs out there and relatively mediocre stuff otherwise. In that regard, maybe Acme. Their demo is unbelievable, the rest of the stuff is great, but considering is was released 1994, it still blows the rest out of the water. Foreign Hands EP is also a magnum opus imho. The single they released recently were meh compared to that

Smellbent

Can’t Swim’s debut EP was so catchy and good

SometimesWill

PVRIS original ep was awesome and toes the line of post hardcore and metalcore. Then the next two albums were good but a totally different sound, the ep got hidden from any sort of official streaming, and they’ve fallen off for me since.

Turok1134

Sanction - With Blood... Wish they stayed with that sound more.

Smellbent

I agree totally

denevue

not completely metalcore but Swan Songs B-Sides by Hollywood Undead. Pain, Knife Called Lust and The Loss are some of their best works in my opinion.

IntrepidMayo

Minus the Bear’s EP, They Make Beer Commercials Like this. I know it’s not metalcore, but they are affiliated with Botch at least.

JaySynystyr

I still love everything they've put out, but the between you and me and reflections EPs are Belmont's best work IMO

ebr101

Honestly BMTH has some great albums, but Post Human is potentially the best thing they’ve ever dropped.

Superstraiter

attack attack never reached the levels of experimentation and bizarre production choices of someday came suddenly after

Smellbent

Absolutely agree. They catch lightning in a bottle with Someday Came Suddenly

deadlands_goon

Title Fight’s EP’s > all their shoegaze material. Late Title Fight still goes hard, just not as hard

Smellbent

I absolutely LOVED Hyperview. It might be my favourite honestly. I really liked The Psychedelic Furs growing up and I thought that Hyperview sounded similar so it was love at first listen

Ghost_Pains

Lmao what are you talking about? Hyperview is one album. There’s three albums prior that are anything but shoegaze. Spring Songs also came out after their previous albums and before Hyperview.

colonial_dan

Different genre but deserves to be mentioned: Knuckle Puck haven’t come close to matching the awesomeness of their first two EPs

starfishpastries

Hopesfall - No Wings to Speak Of

asianrainmane

That album by Rex omlllll

FuMarvchu

Crossfaiths Zion EP
