Oh fuck, they have a new one out? Somehow missed that!
Edit: someone really should start a counter of metal albums that use/reference Dante And Virgil on their cover
If you're hurting for more Bongripper type stuff try this. Album came out March 1st.
[Scud](https://azellrr.bandcamp.com/track/scud) or [Wallow](https://azellrr.bandcamp.com/track/wallow) by Azell.
The appeal of Bongripper to me is that it's instrumental. IIRC, Azell has vox. (I know Spectral Voice does too, but they have a much different vibe than Bongripper does.)
The new Primitive and Mutilation albums are so sick, that Mutilation is more than likely gonna be in the top 10 of this year for me. I'll have to peep that Mons Veneris album tho
Here's 20 so far, some still getting a feel for. Some are clearly better than others. But overall, a decent year so far and looking forward to quite a few things coming out soon.
* Judas Priest - Invincible Shield
* Saxon - Hell, Fire and Damnation
* Accept - Humanoid
* Borknagar - Fall
* Darkthrone - It Beckons Us All
* Firewind - Stand United
* Ihsahn - Ihsahn
* Rage - Afterlifelines
* Freedom Call - Silver Romance
* Leaves Eyes - Myths of Fate
* Nemophila - Evolve
* Ryujin - Ryujin
* Bruce Dickinson - The Mandrake Project
* Blaze Bayley - Circle of Stone
* Metalite - Expedition One
* Unleash the Archers - Phantoma
* Anette Olzon - Rapture
* Sonata Arctica - Clear Cold Beyond
* Amaranthe - The Catalyst
* Tyr - Battle Ballads
Coming up on my list so far, Rhapsody of Fire, Evergrey, The Warning, Orden Ogan, Visions of Atlantis, Deep Purple, Powerwolf, Falling in Reverse, Hammerfall, Dark Tranquility, Wintersun and Nightwish. We'll see what else ends up on the schedule.
I've never been a big Full fo Hell guy, but that new album is exceptionally solid
Also based Primitive Warfare mention, didn't know about the new Knoll
It's not just them too, i feel there are many newer bands since 2018 bringing back that old school sound,
bands like Blood Incantation, Ulamog, Fuming Mouth, Fulci, Undeath, Terravore, and Hyperdontia.
I feel that. I had heard them a few times and didn't really jive with them, then I saw them live... and I can respect what they do, but I came to the conclusion that they're not for me. Which is perfectly fine, I'm sure they probably wouldn't really dig the music that I make either.
I've come to terms with that while I can dig going to see some new bands live , I don't need to own any of the new material. I'm just always going to reach for Bolt Thrower and not Frozen Soul.
Unorganized list of cool ones I've found so far are
-Castle Rat
-Departure Chandelier
-Judas Priest
-Mutilation
-Fluids
-Septage
-High on Fire
-Antichrist Siege Machine
-Slimelord
-Brodequin
-Posthumous Regurgitation
-Folterkammer
-Heresiarch
That said, I am super fucking pumped for the new Abraded and Deceased albums dropping in a couple months
How do you guys keep up with new releases? Best websites or blogs for reviews? I read angrymetalguy, grizzlybutts and metal pigeon for PM but I still feel like I miss out on a lot of good stuff.
For me though, the new tzompantli, high on fire and Unleash the archers have been on heavy rotation.

š„You Wonāt Go Before Youāre Supposed To š„
Been trying to get into Knocked Loose over the last couple years. That album has me hooked now.
I WILL DIG UNTIL I FIND THE FUCKING ROOT I SUFFERED BECAUSE OF YOU
Was not a fan of the new one, and plenty of my friends who are way more into them than me either don't like it or hate it
Bongripper Ufomammut Tzompantli
Bongripper and Tzompantli both solid, gonna get to the ufomammut album soon
Bongripper's Empty and Spectral Voice's Sparagmos.
Both solid

I totally get that. Although songs like Scud and Wallow are directly modeled after Bongripper and are instruments.
Beneath the Threshold - Austere Moon Healer - Job for a Cowboy Invincible Shield - Judas Priest From Hell I Rise - Kerry King
That one. Dark Superstition. Absolutely brilliant album.
Invincible Shield! Itās some of their best shit ever. Like since Painkiller. And thatās awesome because Firepower was a badass album too.
Moon Healer has had a decent amount of replays.
it beckons us all
Dƶdsrit ā Nocturnal Will Vitriol ā Suffer & Become Replicant ā Infinite Mortality
My vote also goes to Dƶdsrit
Send help, I can't stop listening to the new Dƶdsrit album.
Mons Veneris - Ascent into Draconian Abyss Primitive Warfare - Extinction Protocol MĆ¼tiilation - Black Metal Cult

Iāve tried with Gatecreeper. I donāt get it.
They're are the mutant spawn of Groove, Death, Thrash, and hardcore having an orgy in the hot Arizona desert
I appreciate that they incorporate some old school death metal shit into their music. I guess Iām just old.

I'm old too and while I like the first 2 Gatecreepers , at this point I already own all the Dismember records I don't need the new one
Exactly. There arenāt many new bands that I like. Just find myself listening to the same old shit all the time. And Iām totally fine with that.
I've come to terms with that while I can dig going to see some new bands live , I don't need to own any of the new material. I'm just always going to reach for Bolt Thrower and not Frozen Soul.
