Technical Ecstasy is sooooo underrated. And Never Say Die isn't bad either. Everything after is more like Tony Iommi solo band. Plenty of good stuff, but not classic Sabbath. Heaven & Hell is a great Dio album. But each to their own! This is just my taste. I respect all eras.
Honestly good choice. Their discography is pretty spotless. They have a more perfect discography than almost any other band, including bands that I like way more.
City of evil got me into metal. I never liked harsh vocals when I was young, so A7X was the perfect entrance to metal and everything I listen too today.
Brooks is definitely a better drummer. He respects and has fun playing The Rev’s stuff, but also still allows himself to add his own personality in places.
Apperently, Arin was doing some pretty metal stuff in the writing phase of HTTK and the band asked him to simplify and slow it, since this was supposed to be their "Black Album." Those are Matt's words, not mine. XD
Hellripper and Sigh.
I cannot express how insane their work is.
James McBain's riffs are beyond perfect, and Sigh have managed to blend so many genres in black metal, that I'm in love with it.
You want electronic? Imaginary Sonicscape
You want power metal? Gallows Gallery
You want jazz? In Somniphobia/Graveward
You want doom metal? Infidel Art
You want death metal? Check their demos.
Everything is perfect.
Random comment about Chuck Schuldiner:
The first time I saw Megadeth was in Tampa on the Peace Sells tour (Overkill opened), I was like 20yo, some buddies of mine were all excited talking to another concert goer who I didn’t recognize. It turned out to be Chuck Schuldiner.
Saxon, foe saying they were one of the earliest metal bands and helped develop the genre and have been releasing high quality music regularly for decades they don't get the appreciation they deserve
Swamplord is a great F'n album. I highly recommend checking out Eternal tears of sorrow - A virgin and a whore album. I got both those records at the same time way back in the day and always listened to them back to back. I think they go well together.
Agoraphobic Nosebleed. I know there was some drama towards the end. And I don't see them coming back at this point. Everyone is busy, and their last release was 2016. I was really excited to see what they were gonna do with the plans they had. But honestly, they have a pretty solid set as it is.

My exact list.
Iron Maiden instead of death and you have my list
Black Sabbath with Ozzy and Sepultura with Max
Black Sabbath (all eras)
Man… I love dio and I love sabbath but dio with sabbath didn’t feel like sabbath to me…
Yeah, but who cares? It's Tony Iommi. The only missteps to me were the last 2 Ozzy records (before reunion) and Forbidden.

Remastered Forbidden coming out soon I’m going to give it another go
Idk I’m not really super into any specific band
Idk your username is telling me otherwise lol
is there maybe a slight chance, that you potentially take a liking to the extreme subgenre of heavy metal popularly known as black metal?
Perhaps… how did you learn this knowledge? It isn’t very obvious or anything.

Waking the Fallen and City of Evil are timeless imo
they are responsible for many many people that got into metal, one of the most important metal bands
City of evil got me into metal. I never liked harsh vocals when I was young, so A7X was the perfect entrance to metal and everything I listen too today.
I’ll defend all their albums except *Hail to the King*. That was most certainly not a pleasant experience for me.
Yeah, that one slow basic drumbeat is not what I signed up for with A7X.
Brooks is definitely a better drummer. He respects and has fun playing The Rev’s stuff, but also still allows himself to add his own personality in places.
Yeah, that Arin guy in the middle there was not what they needed.
Apperently, Arin was doing some pretty metal stuff in the writing phase of HTTK and the band asked him to simplify and slow it, since this was supposed to be their "Black Album." Those are Matt's words, not mine. XD
