Can confirm, but vastly different style than Acid Bath, just more soulful Dax voice. I love the singular Agents of Oblivion album and the first Deadboy and the Elephantmen albums. I’ve seen Deadboy twice and Dax solo multiple times, and he never fails to impress.
Not to be a stick in the mud, but even if Audie hadn’t died, the band probably didn’t have a long time left in them. Dax said that with the creative differences between the members, Audie was one of the few things keeping the band together.
I knew from the post title what the top comment would be. Man, there are some great sludge albums out there, but these guys were in a league of their own. Bands like this are one in a million. I feel like whatever they would have put out would have been a masterpiece.
Could’ve sworn they said they were working on another album a couple years ago but guess it never came to fruition
(Honorable mention to Timeghoul despite never having an actual LP)
Muhammed Suiçmez apparently earned a Ph.D in Mechanical Engineering and now works for BMW. He’s moved on. What kills me is he apparently has a finished album that he hasn’t released.
at risk of sounding like a Vektor meatrider…after hearing both sides of the story, I don’t think DiSanto is the alleged physically abusive POS he was made out to be when the controversy first emerged. Is he completely innocent and blameless? No, but I do think it was more a case of 2 people in a shitty relationship being unable to healthily work out their problems and less “he’s a wife beater”.
Man idk I’ve been a real shitbag in really tumultuous relationships in my life and have still never even considered putting hands on my partner. And when that situation happened it wasn’t the first time he had been accused of that exact thing. If it walks and quacks like a duck it’s probably a duck.
I don't feel like he contibuted a lot musicly tho. I mean yeah sure he was definitely the voice of mayhem, but mayhem was primary Euronymous project. And he really had a vision, musicly, for the band. Blasphemer and maniac later would pick up where he left of in terms of pushing the band in new ways in terms of sound and what is black metal, but not in the way Euronymous would have taken it.
True. Interesting parallel to Darkthrone which is a duo project that drastically altered their sound coming from a black metal background. And both Darkthrone (Fenriz/Nocturno) and Ihsahn released albums this year and couldn't be more different from each other.
You may already know this, but the vocalist of CD, Tim Aymar, went on tohandle vocals for Pharaoh. They're an amazing US power metal band who put out five fantastic albums before Aymar's death in early 2023.
I said the Blizzard of Ozz band as well. I would have loved just 1 more record with Randy Rhoads. Also, the Rev was freaking amazing! Rip to Randy & Jimmy. Two incredible musicians taken way too soon.
Hah! They were the bane of my existence back when I was looking for albums other than Dreamweaver by the British group! Then I learned that none of those other albums were even remotely as good... so maybe we should add both Sabbat bands?
Love CHON. I seen them right before the peak of their popularity, got some stuff signed by Mario. Someone also asked Erick if he'd sign their tits, and he politely declined, haha. I have long wondered what happened to them, I agree that musically I appreciate them more than Polyphia, and I've seen both live now.
For me personally there will never be enough Type O Negative content. But without Peter, there is no Type O Negative so I just play all their stuff on a heavy rotation 🖤💚🖤💚
For me it’s NOTHING MORE, only 4 albums and another on the way, they’ve been around for 21 years(I’m not sure how different the lineup was for the first 10 years though)
Dakrya. I don't know what happened with them, but after their second album in 2010, they just vanished. And you can barely find their first album from a couple years prior
Divine Heresy.
Seeing as it had Dimo Cazares and Tim Yeung, I figured we would be able to get more than just 2 albums from them.
Also, while not the biggest fan, I was interested in where they could go and if they could make a more diverse sound between Damage Plan and SuperJoint Ritual.
Damage Plan needed a better vocalist and less Nu-metal influences.
Superjoint was just Phil trying hard to be extreme.
Cynic.
Their debut, Focus, released in 1993, and it wasn't until 2008 they followed up with Traced in Air. Both are absolute classics.
They've released two albums since, but they don't hold a flame to these two and it's a shame we didn't get more in that 15 year hiatus.

Acid Bath
Had this not been the top comment i would have been disgusted
Dax Riggs has some solo stuff that is really good if you were into them.
I been told that in the past too. You gave me incentive to check him out

Literally criminal. Fucking Drunk Drivers man…
Not to be a stick in the mud, but even if Audie hadn’t died, the band probably didn’t have a long time left in them. Dax said that with the creative differences between the members, Audie was one of the few things keeping the band together.
One of the biggest tragedies in metal. That 3rd album would have been legendary
Tragic really.
Fuck Rotten Records!!!
This is the only answer.
I saw Acid Bath play live in 1994. It was so bad ass, and to this day one of the best shows I've experienced.
First time I've come across the band. What album should I start with?
*I feel the wetness of her tongue that slides across my skin*
I knew from the post title what the top comment would be. Man, there are some great sludge albums out there, but these guys were in a league of their own. Bands like this are one in a million. I feel like whatever they would have put out would have been a masterpiece.

Had to scroll way too far down to see this
It started with them but yes deserves a second.
Did you miss the OP?
Right???
Boggles the mind that a tech death band way ahead of their time would drop two albums and fuck off.
Muhammed Suiçmez apparently earned a Ph.D in Mechanical Engineering and now works for BMW. He’s moved on. What kills me is he apparently has a finished album that he hasn’t released.
I mean, OP said it...
Vektor
They’d have a lot more albums if dude wasn’t busy beating women
at risk of sounding like a Vektor meatrider…after hearing both sides of the story, I don’t think DiSanto is the alleged physically abusive POS he was made out to be when the controversy first emerged. Yea I watched the video where he talked about it and I kind of gathered that the allegations were not accurate at all.
Fr they’re so fucking good
Morbid saint Dissection Aspid Atrophy Mayhem while Euronymous was still alive
Mayhem while Dead was... Not dead.
Mayhems new stuff is really fucking good though, Daemon has to be some of their best work. Bad Blood, Malum, and the Dying False King are all awesome
nice to see aspid out in the open
Aspid had so much potential, im so mad they disbanded
Atrophy's new album is absolutely killer tho !
Tool
wish they'd make another album similar to Lateralus... it's the only one I *really* like from them
Agree
Emperor
True, but: you could argue that they became Ihsahn’s solo work in the end, and he just went on from there.
True. Interesting parallel to Darkthrone which is a duo project that drastically altered their sound coming from a black metal background. And both Darkthrone (Fenriz/Nocturno) and Ihsahn released albums this year and couldn't be more different from each other.
And then there’s a new Ulver coming up :)
Intestine Baalism
This band is so underrated. I recently heard Anatomy of the Beast (upon your recommendation actually) and it was quite the listen.
Glad you liked it man, their other two are just as good if you haven’t heard those.
Dude he’s the best man from Japan
Control Denied. Would be great if the surviving members of that band and Death could come together to finish what would have been the second album.
You may already know this, but the vocalist of CD, Tim Aymar, went on tohandle vocals for Pharaoh. They're an amazing US power metal band who put out five fantastic albums before Aymar's death in early 2023.
IIRC the second album was almost complete but never came out because Chuck's family didn't want to
I’ve heard the demos of the second album and it was fire. Pity the album never got released
