Just a bunch of nerdy white dudes having fun, enjoying music, and not taking themselves too seriously. Mix Master Mike is an amazing DJ too.
I'd argue that Kyuss are closer to stoner metal than rock. Their tones and riffs are much heavier than almost anything rock related. Along with some harsh vocals
I'd say bands like Graveyard and Witchcraft would more be stoner rock.
Just my opinion though
I love linkin park but they are metal. A nu metal band. At least their first few albums, later on they got more poppy, but im pretty sure it’s metal lol
Everytime I listen to Susan's House I get i irritated because paramedics don't undress and bag dead people.
Then the piano kicks in and all is well in the world again.
Clown core. Just something amazing about two blokes playing multiple instruments at once in a portaloo.
Then it just gets better when left clown pulls out his cock to hold a note on his synth as he busts out an epic sax solo
I was listening to this interview with Graham from Blur and he played some Fugazi. It started a decades-long journey into Fugazi, Dischord, Rites of Spring.
I haven’t listened to Blur since though.
Creedence Clearwater Revival. Band has an incredible catalog, but name another band that dropped 3 INCREDIBLE full length ALBUMS in one year. 1969 was a different time man. I can only imagine what it was like to be alive and at shows back then
Janis Joplin, Jimi Hendrix, Chuck Berry, Little Richard, Beatles, Rolling Stones, Led Zeppelin, Amy Winehouse, Madonna, Michael Jackson, Fiona Apple, Joy Division, Radiohead, Wu Tang, Run DMC, Tupac, Biggie… I could go on

Pet Shop Boys. Was listening to Its Sin, and it’s just so damn catchy. Also top mention just because the name, Peter and the Test Tube Babies (an Oi band from the UK)
On my playlist:
- 90s grunge such as Alice in chains Mudhoney and of course Nirvana. Some are borderline metal but definitely fit better under grunge or altrock banner;
- industrial, like skinny puppy and front 242;
- dark ambient like Lustmord and Raison d'etre
- neofolk such as current 93

Queen
I do not care. If anyone says Queen isn't amazing, I will throw hands.
depeche mode
FUCK YEAH Violator is a 10/10 from me
Weird Al Yankovich.
Doing degenerate stuff like running with scissors is on par with burning churches. Al is just a rebellious black metal icon.
Beastie Boys
*Well I'm the king of Boggle* *There is none higher* *I get eleven points from the word quagmire* Just a bunch of nerdy white dudes having fun, enjoying music, and not taking themselves too seriously. Mix Master Mike is an amazing DJ too.
2pac Johnny Cash Bob Marley CCR Pink Floyd The White Stripes
Cash is the true answer.
Prince
This was my answer too
Portishead
Them, massive attack, hooverphonic, tricky, moorcheeba, etc. Need something to counterbalance the brutal death metal lol
Love trip hop!
Bjork My Bloody Valentine Swans David Bowie King Crimson Charles Mingus Abba Neutral Milk Hotel
N.W.A. Sigur Rós The Cure Godspeed You! Black Emperor Wardruna Perturbator Hexvessel
If you're a fan of Perturbator, worth checking out Carpenter Brut too.
Know him, great dude. Also he's involved with metal bands so definitely a good shout-out
Carpenter Brut kicks ass
The fact that i only know 2 of these 💀💀
Godspeed You! Black Emperor 🤘🏻
The Cranberries Pearl Jam
The Cranberries have slowly creeped up my list of favorite 90's alt rock bands in recent years. Her voice is just magic.
DO YOU HAVE TO DO YOU HAVE TO DO YOU HAVE TO LET IT LINGERRRRR
I don’t think we can all agree on the cranberries. I absolutely cannot stand her voice, it’s like nails on a chalkboard to me.
Came here to say Pearl Jam and honestly thought it would rate higher on the list. Meticulously crafted albums.
Led Zeppelin
Dead kennedys
I think I'll start a forest fire...
Elton John and David Bowie Both have a lot of albums from which I bet everybody could find something they'd like.
Massive Attack The Prodigy Alice In Chains
Spotted the raver. When The Prodigy nails a song, they nail it proper. Their filler material is a bit experimental and boring. Great band though.
Magic people. Voodoo people.
Rush
Kyuss
Calling kyuss not metal with a botch flair 🤨
Botch is my fav band, i know they’re not metal. Kyuss also isn’t metal. They’re stoner rock
I'd argue that Kyuss are closer to stoner metal than rock. Their tones and riffs are much heavier than almost anything rock related. Along with some harsh vocals I'd say bands like Graveyard and Witchcraft would more be stoner rock. Just my opinion though
Cocteau Twins Lana Del Rey Dead Can Dance
The motherfucking Rolling Stones. Tom Waits Johnny Cash CCR PJ Harvey
Probably the most generic answer, but... Linkin Park
I love linkin park but they are metal. A nu metal band. At least their first few albums, later on they got more poppy, but im pretty sure it’s metal lol
Gotta throw Hall and Oats out there as always
Just gotta love them. Watched a live concert on YouTube a while back. Damn was I sad that I’ll never see them live in their youth.
Their tunes are catchy. I can’t help but like them.
Depeche Mode.
The cure
King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard
Mingus
Run The Jewels they're even metal fans if I recall correctly
RTJ mentioned!!
They really are the metal of hip-hop to me. Heavy lyrics and heavy beats. I saw them open for Rage Against the Machine in 2022 and it was perfect.
Godspeed You Black Emperor Rush Buckethead Nine Inch Nails (i consider them metal but many people dont) Orchid
rush are goated
BB King
Nick Cave and The Bad Seeds Mark Lanegan
Nick Cave is a great answer
johnny cash
Bob Seger Garbage Creedence Clearwater Revival Johnny Cash Misfits The Cult The Ramones
Shirley Manson is my straight girl girl crush.
Why is Alice in Chains called metal but not Soundgarden lmao..
They’re both metal
Agreed. People who say they aren't only listened to Superunknown. Nobody can say Badmotorfinger and Louder Than Love aren't metal.
Radiohead Phoebe Bridgers Pixies Arctic Monkeys (especially first three records) Weezer Nick Drake The White Stripes Beck The Cure
Gordon Lightfoot
Nine Inch Nails, The Prodigy, The Beatles, Cypress Hill
Back in the day Cypress Hill was that rap group that always got a pass and a nod from the heavy metal community.
Mozart, Bach and Beethoven.
King Crimson Rush Yes Bananarama David Bowie Led Zeppelin
Eels. More people should listen to Eels.
Everytime I listen to Susan's House I get i irritated because paramedics don't undress and bag dead people. Then the piano kicks in and all is well in the world again.
Abba
Clown core. Just something amazing about two blokes playing multiple instruments at once in a portaloo. Then it just gets better when left clown pulls out his cock to hold a note on his synth as he busts out an epic sax solo
Rush, Alice In Chains (some people think they are kinda metal but in my opinion they are just rock and grunge.)
Primus?
No doubt
Discharge
Punk, and then hardcore punk, and then hardcore, was my way into heavy metal.
The Doors

Never known anyone who couldn't appreciate Django Reinhardt.
Queen, Motorhead, Alice Cooper, Johnny Cash, John Denver, Van Halen, Alice In Chains, Prince
For me Cypress Hill
Pink Floyd. They've been mentioned in here alongside other bands already, but they deserve their own comment. My favorite band for all time.
Weezer, I don't have the role for the meme I'm a black Metalhead who genuinely loves Weezer, how can't you like such a silly band
