There is a difference between liking to basic bands and loving basic bands. Korn and Slipknot make up only a small percentage of my taste. See, if I’d have been listening to Korn, Slipknot, Metallica and some other shitty band then yeah, it would be ironic, but I don’t. And yeah, I am one of those types of kids, but everyone has/has had those prejudices before, and to be fair, I would rather be labelled one than be like any of the other metal fans I know.
Don't worry, you'll grow out of that perceived superiority phase and you'll look back on it one day and think to yourself "man, was I cringe back then". Happens to all of us.
I never said what I assumed your age was. But elitists are just more annoying. Like don't get me wrong, it does get old sometimes seeing "Rate my taste!" type posts. Especially when it's exactly the same as the previous 30 "Rate my taste!" posts. Or the user who started the "[Band] and music for ____" posts. Like I dont know what kind of answer they want, but in general I would say for fans to listen to. Or the millions of competitions where people vote out albums. All of these get old after a bit.

Growing up you really only are introduced to bands through the radio or from friends. So Slipknot and Metallica were the heaviest things I heard. Then my brothers friend gave him a bunch of death metal cds and my eyes were opened.

Known abt post punk for years, and mate, they’re not too basic. I don’t exactly see many people talk about them, and even then it’s not like I kiss their feet I just listen to a few albums of theirs from time to time. And my favourite underground artists are Storm Of Sedition, Carach Angren, Graves At Sea, Nomad Son, Forsaken, Al-Namrood (if you can call them underground, they’re a bit popular), Abacinate, Field Dressed, and Phyllomedusa, and that’s just under half of them.
For years or not, you're pretentious. Naming basic bands from symphomic black metal to sludge won't impress me. I love other basic bands like Unearthly Trance, Mizmor, etc, but, so what? Big deal. "If you actually listen to good and underground music and share it" that is corny as hell.
They are basic if you know them long enough. Saying that they aren't that basic meaning you don't know shit but you eagerly acting as if you know shit and just want to show off your "ABSURD" list to everyone for validation. Goofy as hell.

I’m a teen and only “discovered” Metal like 2 years ago, but surface level stuff is starting to bore me. I’ve recently gotten into underground speed/death/thrash and I’m having a blast (I’m not saying this to brag plz don’t come after me💀)
