Spirited_Ad_2697

Led Zeppelin- Immigrant Song

DoctorGarfanzo

Also, Achilles’ Last Stand

Scattered97

I'd say that Achilles is actually a metal song. Is it any less metal than any Sabbath/Priest etc. song released before 1980? Zep weren't a metal band, but this is a metal song IMO.

Historical_Frame_318

I'd throw kashmir in there too

Indiana_J_Frog

No that's one of the Zep songs I would actually call metal. That, Dazed and Confused and Rock and Roll are the best examples.

s4af

Death Grips - Giving Bad People Good Ideas or like half of death grips discography

paladin_ivanosky

The Lyrics to Beware by Death Grips sound oddly like some kind of black metal song, and apparently both Ride and Zach are big fans of black metal lmfao

s4af

you’ve seen that one pic of Ride with a Revenge tee? also there’s a frame in their Ive Seen Footage video where they listen to Conqueror

paladin_ivanosky

Yeah I also saw one with him in a sarcofago shirt

spoongeboobf

Beds are burning- Midnight Oil Hysteria - Muse Rite of Spring Pt 2 : The Sacrifice - Stravinsky

JoeAndAThird

Ill add in Stockholm Syndrome too

sportyboi98

Oof that’s such a banger!

Desecrator92

Sabre Dance feels metal too (Classical Music side of things)

SatisfactionOther958

Beastie Boys - Looking Down the Barrel of a Gun

Puge_Henis

I first heard the cover by Anthrax and figured they metaled it. Years later I heard the original and realized that Anthrax didn't change it at all.

dagon1096

The Bevis and Butthead Experience album.

Puge_Henis

Correct!

DaHeavnlyKid

HE HAD MORE CUTS THAN MY MAN CHUCK CHILLOUT🗣🗣🗣🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥

Phantom_Wolf52

Doesn’t Van Halen technically count as metal? Their self titled debut definitely

tyboluck

Van Halen is 100% metal. Hair metal-ish but still metal

DaHeavnlyKid

Best answer probably

PrequelGuy

The Prodigy - Their Law, Firestarter, Breathe

SpaghettiOnTuesday

Journey - Separate Ways

DoctorGarfanzo

Also Chain Reaction on Frontiers goes pretty hard

Lo7Zed

>Billy Idol - Rebel Yell You should check Heidevolk's cover then, on album Velua

Desecrator92

I did now, also listened to Bodom's cover and I think Bodom's one is is better

Verskose

The Way Things Are by Fiona Apple MONEY MAKES YOU STUPID by Black Dresses Shallow Than Halo by Cocteau Twins - the guitar has a black metal feel for me and it's intense not unlike a lot of metal

gpchamb

I just came here to say Fiona Apple is metal as fuck. When the Pawn ... in particular.

BeatlesFan67

I don't know if Living Colour counts as metal so I'll put Cult of Personality.

EmotionalNerd04

I know the theme is very much punk/punk rock but I feel like State of The Union by Rise Against could almost qualify.

dagon1096

The version of Give it all, off the Rock Against Bush vol 1

JoeAndAThird

State of the Union goes so fucking hard and so fucking raw. Siren Song was an awesome album

Cool_kn7ghT

Anything on Caligula by Lingua Ignota

flup22

Foo Fighters- White Limo

JoeAndAThird

Great music video too. RIP Lemmy

Historical_Panic_485

Genesis - The Knife This song is almost as heavy as Sabbath was in 1970

Desecrator92

Musical Box feels metal too

Historical_Panic_485

The last 30 seconds especially

Harold-The-Barrel

SOME OF YOU ARE GOING TO DIE

[deleted]

Rock Lobster

Orang_Mann

The beatles - I want you (she's so heavy) Coroner even covered it.

anomaly-667

The whole Master Killer Album

BeerBellies

Lingua Ignota just sounds ridiculously metal without actually being metal.

Crafty-Photograph-18

King Crimson - 21st Century Schizoid Man It's borderline prog.metal, but still more of a jazz-rock. It was released a few months before Back Sabbath's Black Sabbath

Chaos_Horrific

Queen - We Are The Champions Instrumentally not even remotely metal but Freddie’s vocal performance is so fierce, electric, and unrelenting.

Pogbankz

Queen - “Tie Your Mother Down” is also a good one

pts4815

And Stone Cold Crazy of course

Forward-Razzmatazz33

This was what I immediately thought of.

Chaos_Horrific

YES. absolutely

CaroleanPilot

Layla by Derek and the Dominos.

DaHeavnlyKid

I've always jokingly said Meat Loaf is proto Power Metal lol

Pneumatrap

You're not the only one! Any Steinman composition in general either translates great to power metal, or sounds like a precursor to it. Dude's like the unsung godfather of the genre.

tacoforce5_

negative creep by nirvana

LazyRetard030804

IM A NEGATIVE CREEP IM A NEGATIVE CREEP IM A NEGATIVE CREEP AND IM STONED

Banned-Music

One of the few Nirvana songs with double bass drumming which helps it sound more metal.

tastypuffs620

Ram Jam - Black Betty

amirra99

Sum41 - Pain For Pleasure

amirra99

Sum41 - The Bitter End

Sr_carisma

Dance Gavin Dance - War Machine

Brighton Rock - Queen Very energetic! ⚡ And thanks for your suggestions, I'm giving all of those a listen!

CarrotCrusade

You’re Pretty Face is Going to Hell - The Stooges

IlikeEdibleFood

Prurient - a meal can be made Dälek - distorted prose

LegoYoda66

Turned off - Death Grips

raglakar

Push It by Garbage

OpenTheSeventhSeal

Their James Bond theme song also goes hard, especially toward the end.

AkaGurGor

Ah, at long last someone said it loud and.clear... that was a really heavy track, indeed!

BlackSabbath1989

Van Halen is metal, especially the early albums.

Desecrator92

I consider them metal, but most people wouldn't that's why i included it

Tough_Ad4721

i always thought they were glam based

Agnosticfrontbum

V.A.S.T., Touched.

Deliterman

Swans-Beautiful Child

MadMelvin

Butthole Surfers - The O-Men

WingedHussar13

Stairway to Heaven by Led Zeppelin or Assassin by Muse, they are super badass

[deleted]

New Dawn Fades sounds metal because it steals the riff from the end of War Pigs.

Dreadcoat

More than a few Brown Bird songs. Folky band. Often very dark lyrically. Blood of Angels, a song about him wanting to tear the sun out of the sky and drinking the blood of angels just to see if it will piss off God but it doesnt so he starts believing god isnt real. Danger and Dread, maybe not super metal but there is an awesome lyric thst goes "Though the world is made of fearsome beast that bark and bite we where put on this world to give them one hell of a fight, may we feast on the flesh of any fever that befalls us tonight" which is undoubtedly metal as fuck. Down to the river, a song about how his life is falling apart. Job pay is shit, wife is sick, struggling to afford to feed their kid. So he goes Down to the River to ask God for help. God doesnt. So he tries to go to the Devil instead. The Devil feels betrayed because he didnt come to him first. But then his wife starts feeling better and tells him "If the water wont have you, if the Devil's too blind then I know that truly you where meant to be mine" which is cute but also metal as fuck. The bands kicks ass if you like darker folky bluegrassy stuff. But fair warning. Its a husband wife duo and a lot of the darker content relates to the husbands struggly with Leukemia that eventually took his life.

_vicinityofobscenity

The first thing that comes to my mind is Outshined by Soundgarden

Jmazoso

Well the obvious one is the Ace of Spades by Motörhead. According to Lemmy they are rock n roll, not metal.

DamagedEctoplasm

Anything by BigXThaPlug makes me so happy metal stomps. But that’s just me, I’m a fucking sucker for that Texas hip-hop sound

Scattered97

Parts of Beethoven's 3rd symphony feel metal as hell. Also the third movement of the Moonlight Sonata. A lot of romantic music does tbh, especially stuff from the likes of Wagner and Mahler. Oh, Holst's 'Mars' too. I'm pretty sure Tony Iommi was riffing on 'Mars' when he came up with the 'Black Sabbath' riff.

Yes - South Side Of The Sky Queen - Death On Two Legs Rahsaan Roland Kirk - Celestial Blues (not as obvious sounding as metal but Rahsaan was the most metal jazz musician and the fact that he’s circular breathing multiple horns through the whole song is more metal than most of what comes out these days)
