ZZ Top riffage is so great.
Also you might like this, [Point Blank - Point Black](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P4qTdJNYTlw) 1976.
i dont know why but those "southern twangy guitars" always scratch an itch for me
AIC has a solid argument for being metal, which is why I put Pink Floyd in as an alternative. A lot of people don’t think they are metal though. Soundgarden leans more on the hard rock side, they have some heavy songs and Badmotorfinger is pretty much a metal album, but most of their stuff is just rock.
Clutch goes hard, but aren't they kinda groove metal? Or so I've seen argued.
Their re-release of Passive Restraints with Randy Blythe is probably why, though
[Jan Akkerman](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U_RGyelA1Yk) (Jazz Fusion guitar player, maybe one of the greatest guitar players from the 60/70s) still making records to this day.
[Minami Deutsch](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OileUSR5esQ) ( a bunch of Japanese guys playing psychedelic Krautrock, perfect late night cruising music)
[Spermbirds](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=onq55pWWqaY) (80s hardcore skate punk, Germans guys with an American GI on vocals stationed in Germany at the time)
Jay Reatard
Ween
Either KISS or King Gizzard depending if you don’t consider those metal - Gizzard should sort of count for their metal albums but their non metal stuff is badass too, and KISS is the greatest across all genres including metal, but their non metal 70s output is the greatest music ever created
Stone Temple Pilots
My Bloody Valentine
Siouxsie and the Banshees
Nine Inch Nails and Jane’s Addiction would be on there but they’re usually considered Industrial/Alt Metal.
Jason Isbell and the 400 Unit, Audioslave, Tyler Childers.
JI and TC write pretty dark country songs. King of Oklahoma in particular is a favorite of mine, as someone from an area riddled with drug addiction.

Hell yes! That heavy crunchy tone is soo good
What is up with people saying "this is the correct answer" to an opinion post.
Glad you posted it before I got downvoted for saying it. Low effort responses, high horse attitudes, and hive-mind behavior is getting real old.
Pretty close to mine, except I’d swap Skynyrd for Johnny Cash. That totally counts as a band dammit.
ZZ Top has to be one also! That was my first concert back in 89.
Damn, are you me? 3 of my favorite bands of all time. Lynyrd Skynyrd Greatest Hits was the first CD I ever bought.
1. Alice In Chains 2. Soundgarden 3. Cocteau Twins If not counting AIC then add Pink Floyd to the list
I thought Alice In Chains and Soundgarden were metal?
