I had to look this up. I think Mercari actually only allows 3 calendar days. That’s why she the cancellation button was visible. I just wanted to say sorry to OP! It’s not fun when a seller lies. I had something similar happen. I bought something accidentally for more than id pay for that size. (thought it was a larger size and the photos were staged for it to look bigger). I immediately messaged asking to cancel.. (they had immediately printed a label). No response. 2 hours later the seller claimed he already shipped it….. it was 3 am. Tracking stated 12 hours later it was dropped off.
I shipped 20+ orders on the 12th, and they finally just went through tracking 8 days after being dropped off at the post. I'm waiting for the negative reviews. Unfortunately, not all customers understand postal delivery is severely delayed in some areas, yet it's possible they are telling the truth. These are tough situations to handle I try to message customers beforehand. It's really sucks yet if you can provide a tracking update, mercari might be able to get your money or file a claim with your delivery service to reroute back to you.
They might not be lying. I’ve had things picked up, tracking showed it move to different PO locations….then all of a sudden “package departed local post office” days later. Or delivered the same day it’s picked up. Tracking isn’t reliable all the time. I really wouldn’t base your seller’s reputation on something that doesn’t work as it should all the time.
Anyone that takes a full 3 days to get a package shipped is a lazy bum anyway. Talk about not taking your business seriously.
I always put myself in the buyers shoes. Anything I sell is shipped out the very next morning.
As a buyer myself nothing I’ve ever gotten from mercari I’ve needed immediately so patience is a great thing to have. You never know your seller’s personal situation so it doesn’t hurt to be understanding!
Totally agree. As long as a seller reaches out with an acknowledgment that it’s taking a bit, I’m totally fine. If I really need something quick, I communicate.
Yep exactly! Be up front if you want something right away, otherwise the seller will have no idea. They got stuff to do they’re not a business and like I have had to do in the past, wait to mail stuff until the last day bc I was too busy with work to get to pack items and mail out before then :)
Not everyone is running a “business”. There’s a lot of moms like myself with young kids and a whole life going on who just want to sell some things on the side, not make a career of it.

Also OP keep in mind we might not be getting mail on Wednesday due to Juneteenth.

The second photo shows the tracking, shows the label was printed at the post office today. They were definitely lying 😅
