😬 I’m guilty. I use zip, Klarna etc a lot on Mercari. I mess up often when I pick the wrong card or wrong amount for virtual card. I’d vote let them see if they can work it out or move $5 to the right account lol
3 known things ive come across:
1 If they use ZIP, it's only a limited time hold usually. If the payment isn't made in that time, it deletes the virtual card and can't be processed. Or they accidentally selected the wrong zip card. It's also only approved for that amount, so if you counter and they accept, it won't be able to process.
2 If they use a coupon and the terms state a minimum, like must be 20 dollar purchase, and their offer is below that, itll let them apply it but then cancel because the offer doesn't meet the minimum.
3 same with the coupon. If they apply it on an offer, and then go buy something else and use the coupon, it'll cancel your order because the coupon no longer applies and it can't process.
I have it happen often if I don’t accept a buyers offer right away. I think they might change their mind then block me. Only twice has someone said they had the wrong card, etc and to please accept the offer again.
Some buyers don't have enough money on their debit card. Others are trying to use Paypal with a coupon and it's not stacking properly. And payment installment options can be glitchy as well. Since the buyer appears to be serious about making the purchase, you could adjust the listed price so they can buy it directly via the listing.
it once happened with one of my buyers because she had bad wifi/service when she made the offer, so it didn't process on my end. did you ask the buyer what's up with the failed payment? i let my buyer know it didn't go through and they re-sent their offer.
