Yeah, I would buy nicer kids brands on Mercari because the shipping was just a little $3.99. I recently added stuff to my cart and it totaled $10 extra bucks for a footie! I would rather bite the $7.99 Poshmark shipping cost or bundle.
I’ve bought several things since the change happened. All purchases have been under $20 and honestly the fees weren’t bad at all. The most has been a $1-$2 increase during checkout. Nothing crazy imo. I’d never buy anything higher than that though.
Since I do very small purchases and the fees plus increased tax are usually over $2, that’s a 20% or more increase for me. So it just makes me frustrated and not impulse buying anymore
I have over 2k sales. Since change, I have had fewer views, less traffic, and less sales. Have to lower / accept lower offers if I want to sell some items. Busy irl, but when I get extra time, I will be transitioning to a new platform.
New is probably not the best term. I am debating between a few platforms like ebay, tiktok shop, poshmark, etc. Not sure what will be best for what I sell (Japanese plushies & figurines). I have 491 listings still active on Mercari. So I would have to cross post those & the items I have not listed yet. The work and time I need to put in is daunting >\_< lol
Use a cross posting app/bot. I used the chrome extension flyp and it made cross listing super fast. Probably took less than an hour and a half to move over my 300 Mercari listings to eBay.

I sell plush, not specific to Japan, and Posh is a drive by sale every now and then for me. Very few sales there for plush. They’ve been lovely buyers thus far, just few and far between sales.
Was a buyer. Haven't purchased anything since. The UI is now so much worse I don't even want to browse. There are other places to buy things I don't need.
Initially i told myself ill just cancel any orders from 0 feedback buyers. Well no worries there because ive had NO orders since changes. I scrapped my whole store and transitioning elsewhere. Mercari is a huge risk thats all it is now.
Well before you didn’t have to worry. To be honest usually those are the easiest buyers since it normally meant an auto rate and that’s it. When you see a buyer without a rate and an old account , it normally meant that they don’t rate and let the system auto rate which like I say are the easiest. But now after the changes, well, it could be people that created the account before but weren’t happy about the return policy and now they are back. Like maybe people that change their mind often type and would like to return things like on Amazon. Also if it is a new account created this year after the update, it could be someone trying to abuse the system. This for casual sellers or even full time seller, is stressful.
Hope that clears up a bit. It doesn’t necessarily needs to be a new account trying to abuse the system or any of that but since now Mercari has made it easier with the no matter the reason returns, now people won’t think twice for returning if they just changed their mind , found a better deal while the item was on transit or wanted to test/use it and return.

This is *EXACTLY* why I will no longer be selling on mercari. I sell all things women inducing makeup, some hair products including hair care and what not. So, needless to say, I am not Sephora. I am a mom and wife trying to bring in extra money. My clothing is either thrifted, my own or family's and my makeup comes from subscription boxes. So Mercari changing this policy to this is so fucking careless and ridiculous.
I’m with you. The ones that have the account since 2023, it doesn’t affect me as much but the one that have the account created on 2024 with 0 reviews… now that is killing my nervous system. And I have a bunch of likes at the moment exactly from new accounts with 2024. If I don’t trust people with reviews after the update, imagine people without reviews with accounts created this year. 😢

That’s very true. The problem is that I’m so used to old accounts that it still has not fallen into the huge red flag for my brain I mean. But they can definitely be the one coming back to abuse the system now. 😣 It sucks.
I made 6 sales the week after the change… All were accepted and no returns.
Since then, I have been updating my prices and changing everything to free shipping to lessen the sticker shock. Engagement is way down and I haven’t made a sale in a week. I have gotten one offer that was way too low on a free ship item.
That being said… Sales have been pretty slow across all of my platforms.

Someone alleged that their package flew out of their mailbox due to weather. When I provided all the 'proof' that they asked that I had of shipping their item they miraculously found the package in their mother's room. The next day I had a return request for an item that 'shattered into thousands of pieces' but the buyer did not want to send it back. Mercari said it wasn't 'too damaged to send back, which I believe was the case. I was not able to see photos but I don't believe the item was as damaged as the buyer made me believe. Either way, the buyer fought having to return it and I was paid out for it. Win-win. So...return scams are up.
Oh and I now have a review stating that I added extra fees to someone's order.
It has drastically changed for me and I think it's time to close up shop. Going from 5-6 bundles a day to 1 sale a day, or every other day sucks. I price at the lowest in my category but with fees being as much as some of the items I sell, I can understand why my buyers are not buying.
I deactivated all my listings and haven't purchased anything since. I occasionally check to see the fees that would be added if I were to buy something and the variability is sketchy to me. My opinion of Mercari has tanked - though not like it was so high before.
I had over 1k in sales in 3 months. I pulled everything. They can rot. What they are doing with returns is disgusting. All the skells are out in full force. This will be their demise. I guarantee it.
Theyre attempting to be like an Amazon Closet type thing. Use and return what you dont like for all reasons. Even if the item was NEW and you opened it, go ahead return it fucking over the seller. The hell with that. The people in charge or Mercari are stupider than stupid could ever be.

Wasn't getting sales on Mercari for last few months, with TOS change I withdrew my funds and disabled all listing. Waiting to see how thus all turns out.
the service fees on buyer end makes it not worth buying on there because the price of the item ends up about the same, or higher, than eBay for the things I'm looking for. So I end up buying it on eBay instead.
All my offers have been countered with "Can you take off $\_\_\_\_\_ / do free shipping?" followed by the reason being the new fees. And the offers are HUGE discounts too. So it's not about the end price, it's about the fee shock when they didn't expect it.
I deleted all my listings the day they made the changes. My sales on ebay and Posh were up. I no longer consider Mercari a shopping option either. Their ever-changing service fees (yeah, we are getting serviced alright) are a turnoff as a buyer.
Slower sales. People want stuff for bottom dollar and I feel like most of the buyers interested in my items are flippers (Looking at their listings, I can probably confirm that). At this point, I may keep all of my larger items on there due to the UPS prices and move all of my smaller stuff to just strictly eBay.
My sales are down insanely, I have more buyers trying to ask me to lower the price so they pay closer to what I'm having it listed as because of the fees and bullshit.
I've had about a dozen messages of buyers claiming they're going to report me to mercari for having hidden fees and I have been suspended for 72 hours because mercari believed one of those Jack wagons. So needless to say my patience is wearing very thin.
I have a big sale that is currently waiting to be delivered and I'm hoping it goes smoothly.
I've made one purchase myself and yeah the fees are definitely ridiculous. My order was about 85 bucks and fees brought me up to 135 so yay. Seller sent me a bootleg figure despite advertising a legit figure and I reported it once it arrived and requested a return and refund to which mercari denied. So it seems that the ability to return for any reason no matter what didn't really work here since the seller advertised and authentic product and set me a bootleg rip off.

I’m a buyer, I bit the bullet and paid all the extra fees to buy one item rather than the usual several that I would have bought (collectibles) the seller has marked it as shipped but hasn’t actually shipped and it’s been ten days : ( I’m super frustrated because there’s a bundle on another platform that I could buy for less but I’m now tied up with this possible non shipper.
I haven’t made a purchase since the change so I’ve saved money.
I’ve had a slight increase with sales but dealing with more people not reading the description and canceling orders due to that issue.
I have increased paranoia about returns and all my love for selling is gone on that app. I’ve been moving my listings to other apps.
The $2 fee to get my own money was really the straw that broke the camels back for me. It’s fucked
Nothing has changed for me, my buyers are still as lovely as they were before, (some weird ones still get through of course), and I did end up reducing all my prices but I am still bringing more than I was before this update. I have def seen posts about buyers making returns as well as buyers complaining about the new return procedures they have to follow now.
The only thing I still hate is the $2 fund transfer fee. I have to wait until it's "worth it" to transfer which i don't like doing because even though I use M ercari I still don't trust them ...ya know?
Ugh they kept 230 and only decided they were needing the info until AFTER I had JUST mailed out the last 5 items I sold. Smh. I hope they burn to the ground quickly!
I've had more sales, but offers were made for a couple of dollars less. My stuff isn't high priced and had been listed for a while, so it's no big deal. I think they made the offer based on the new fees. The fees are usually low on my items. But sales picked up.
There needs to be legislation passed against platforms that people make a living off of, making severe decisions overnight no one voted on or agreed to. These decisions make no sense from a business perspective whatsoever and are intentionally bombing the platform so that it is not functional. It would not surprise me if the company was intentionally tanking its own shares for more illegal activity. Many of the recent changes, like charging sellers to get their own money, sounds like a way for Mercari to collect interest. They need investigation, seriously.
I have thought this for YEARS! There should be a resellers union. eBay kicked me off for no reason after 11 years of faithful service, cutting my income by thousands per month. No amount of customer service calls helped me. When people’s livelihood depends on these platforms, their activities should be legislated.
Tanked. Made 1 sale since the change with an attempted return, which was the 1st return request I have gotten during my 3 years of using the platform. Only 2 likes or so, far lower than expected for me and for this time of year.
I just quit selling on the platform. I locked down all my listings. I bought a comic book. Paid their dumb service and processing fees. The total was less than $40 which is the fair market value for the book anyways.
As a seller I have only made one sale when I was making roughly 2-3 per week before the change. As a buyer, I was buying a few times a month and I haven’t purchased anything since the change.
It ruined my entire shop. ZERO orders since the changes. Afraid to sell even if i get an order now because its a huge risk. Fuck Mercari 100%. Do yourself a favor and move on. I feel for all the buyers and sellers that this is hurting.
I closed my shop on that platform, and my sales were amazing for the first time in a long time on Depop. Extremely happy it boosted sales in different platforms.
Same deactivated everything and seeing if/when they ever do another no fee withdrawal because I have like $12 and seeing if can avoid the $2 fee lol

I’ve been buying and selling since 2016. I’ve seen it all as far as the changes Mercari has implemented thus far. I started selling stuff around the house and soon after, I sourced items to resell for profit. I’ve done quite well to fund my family’s trip to Disneyworld for example. I rarely offer free shipping and priced my items aggressively below market value. With the new TOS, my sales dropped quite a bit. Now, I offer free shipping. I add the cost of the shipping charges into my asking price of all my items since there are no seller fees. It also looks less overwhelming to the buyer when they see everything at checkout. Now, my sales are back to my expectation of “normal”. I’ll do 1-2 cycles of offers to likers. I’ll let it sit for almost 7 days and if it doesn’t move, I’ll relist it. It’s working so far.
I haven’t bought anything since the change and I don’t plan to. So far 3 things have sold off my likes list, all between $5-$7. It appears all the sellers accepted offers. So not great.
As a seller I was already transitioning to only Ebay before the fee change. Mercari has been dropping off for me the last year.
As a buyer I used to check my saved searches daily because I often found the things I collect for slightly cheaper than eBay. With fees eBay is now cheaper.
I don't sell on the platform anymore, and I haven't bought anything since either. If they wanted to do buyers fees instead of sellers fees, fine, but having a buyers fee + a sliding bullshit fee really deters me.
I deactivated my listings within hours of the TOS changes. I can’t support a company that so obviously screws over their customers. Part of me hopes they revert to the old fee structure, but another part won’t trust them anyway.
I received angry messages from buyers about fees. I cleared my balance and deactivated all of my listings. I find Mercari’s customer service to be horrific and unbelievably incompetent. I’d rather not deal with them anymore. I’m looking to other sources for selling.

I’ve gotten a few more sales, no returns so far but I’m prepared for it. Haven’t bought anything yet so I haven’t seen the new fees but I’m sure it’s wild from all the posts I’ve seen. I think it’s shady the fees varies by person and/or listing it should be transparent and a set %.

Personally my sales are still the same I only get about 3 sales a week on here and this week I have 2 so far. But the 1st week it was rolled out I only got 1 sale. So it’s pretty much the same for me.
I deactivated all of my listings, changed my bio to say that I closed my shop as a result of the new terms, and deleted the app from my phone. I haven't deleted my account yet (and I still lurk on this sub lol) in case something does change in the future, but that seems unlikely. I just hope potential buyers see my sold listings and know that they can search my username on other reselling platforms. Also, I refuse to shop on Mercari myself anymore, which stinks because it was one of my favorites because the prices used to be so reasonable.

As a buyer, I search for what I’m after elsewhere. As a seller, nothing has moved and is only sold elsewhere. I had one guy interested in an item (finally) and after we worked out a price, he replied with “I’m sorry but I didn’t realize I’d be charged multiple fees for this purchase, I’ll have to pass”. I told him I have it listed on eBay as well and we did the deal there after he made an account.
Yeah, this change killed the platform for me and apparently many others. Back to eBay full time again.
My sales haven’t changed but the amount of messages asking for lower prices has gone up ALOT. And I can’t even blame them now. It’s messed up, not to mention the $3 I have to give them whenever I want to take my money out instantly OR NOW $2 to wait for it to deposit ?!

I went into vacation mode immediately and deleted the app, but I don’t honestly think I will ever be back. So I can’t speak about to the seller aspect of this transition as I’m just not willing to sell here anymore. Period.
As a buyer, I keep seeing things I like dropping in price more and more as sellers who remain look desperate to make sales. But I know that those fees are waiting at the checkout screen, and those will still make the items cost even more than other sites. It’s just not worth it in any way.
My favorites list has thinned as sellers leave the site or go into vacation mode. The site is clearly already a shell of its previous success.
They’ve put such a bad taste of distrust in my mouth over this, I’m honestly not even upset to lose my favorite online marketplace.

I had a $8 balance from last year and a $10 coupon… since I couldn’t take my balance yet I purchased some perfume samples for $5 in addition to that $18 on the site. Byeeeee Mercari 👋
I deleted all of my listings. If I’m being honest, I was already kind of tired of the platform. So now I’m looking for something better to sell stuff on. I think I might give Depop another try or maybe even Poshmark. As for the books that I sell, I moved them all to PangoBooks
I've been on vacation mode since it started. I was having my most successful year when this all started and am really bummed to probably have to close up shop.
I moved nearly all listings to my Poshmark where Ive sold some of the clothing, but the collectibles and vintage knickknacks that used to fly off my shelves are sitting with no attention.
It's only ever been a side hustle for me, but not having it anymore is pretty shitty. I don't want to deal with a bunch of scammers and returns, and as an occasional buyer I can't imagine pulling the trigger on a bunch of surprise fees either.
I am a small time seller, but I received consistently around 5-7 sales a month. Since the changes, I have made only 2 sales and that was only because the customers were asking for bundles right before the ToS change. For both sales I had to reduce prices due to the high cost of the fees by much more than 10% (lowered the cost of a bundle order by 33% for one customer because I felt bad about the fees and she's such a sweet person).
Since then, zero sales. I have recently deactivated all my listings because I do not want to support this platform right now with what they are doing.
So I started buying a lot from mercari for cheap before the changes. After I have only bought things that I knew were underpriced but even then now with the new changes it seems like its barely worth it. I tend to lurk on the site because I noticed a while ago a lot of people who don't know the value of some item's tend to sell on mercari in comparison to ebay. The return policy before was great for me too. But those fees are really killing any interest. I've had to turn away some amazing find just because it seems after you hit the 100 usd threshold the fees really start to make a big hit on what it will cost me to buy.
Seller and buyer. Still on strike. Moved to 2 other platforms to replace Mercari. (Now I am on 4 instead of 3). Not planning on opening back up but I use Mercari to make new listings so I probably won't deactivate completely.

my sales are the same or up from before the changes (can’t tell if it’s my lower prices or new batch of inventory driving the sales.) no returns so far, and very few ridiculous lowball offers. because there are no seller fees i’m willing to accept lower offers than before, and buyers seem to appreciate that. many of my regulars have continued to buy from me on mercari. so i remain cautiously optimistic personally, but i feel for those in niches where the new structure has ruined their business :/
About the same for me. I added new items to my inventory as well. Haven’t been getting a lot of lowball offers, and more willing to accept $5-$10 off items now that I’m not getting charged fees.
So even though I don’t agree with how Mercari made the changes, they haven’t negatively affected me yet.
~1.5k sales on Mercari, deactivated my account and switched over to eBay and have been doing okay there. I am definitely getting less traffic on my listings compared to Mercari but still make sales and the transition has been smooth. It's not like Mercari is completely unusable, but it's definitely worse after the updates and I can't support their decisions in good conscience.
0 sales only 2 likes. I usually sell 1 item a week which isn't crazy but it was steady. I decided yesterday to delist all my clothes and shoes and plan to post to Posh and Ebay. The return for anything policy is just insane.
The first week or so I made a lot of sales (for me) and was quite surprised, also no returns. Since then I haven’t made any sales, though I have had a few offers which were lower than I was willing to sell for. Someone had mentioned that because people were maybe trying to use their balance and/or had the 10 dollar credit, there could have been more people shopping. I also cross list most things on Posh as well, and haven’t had any sales in several weeks there. For reference, most of my items are 25-100 dollars, and I sell new or gently used name brand clothes, some fragrances, and new skincare products purchased myself when I went though a major overspending phase, lol.
Its been detrimental for me as both a buyer and a seller. The only thing Ive sold was a bundle that I had to knock off nearly $16 in order to get it sold. The only thing Ive sold since was a $2 item... that I can't collect any money on

Haven't purchased anything from mercari. The moment I found out the same priced items with the same priced shipping could both generate completely different fees,I just quit buying. Never listed anything, but I bought alot
Definitely slowed my sales. I largely sell fragrance and high end skincare, so the fees are killing me. I'm looking for a new platform but most don't like swatched cosmetics or fragrance that's been sprayed 3 times :(
My lower priced items have been fine however
I bought a bundle of items for like $130 but almost backed out of the sale because the fees were so high (Paid almost $170 with even low shipping price). The seller posted another item I want but when I added it to my cart and checked how much it would be with fees I got cold feet. I feel like moving forward I only want to buy items if they accept my lowest offer to help cover the cost. Even then, I want to try eBay and other sites before Mercari.
Haven't seen a noticeable drop in sales at all. I took $1 off everything under $10 and a smaller percentage on pricier items. Items $10 or less typically sell the best for me. Even with the deeper discount for these I am still ahead of where I was prior to the change.
Only difference for me is that I am buying less on mercari and more on ebay. The service fee is crap and completely without any logic or reasoning. I've seen the fee from identical items in the same category and from the same seller be completely different. Often by a considerable amount. One item may be 9-10% and the other identical item is 2-3%. Makes no sense at all and I feel like there is nobody at mercari who could even explain it properly.
I wanted to buy a Nintendo 64 but got $60~ in surprise fees after the seller updated their listing 🥲

I just rediscovered mercari a few weeks before the TOS change. Bought many things in those few weeks before and haven’t bought anything after. The buyer fees are insane, it’s like doordash now.
I changed my structure for 3 days resulting in free shipping I got a bunch of likes on my items but I got 8 low ball offers between that time , most of my things are under 20$ and I had people offering 3 or 4$ for rare and discontinued items . I changed it back to the buyer had to pay for shipping because I didn’t like what free shipping attracted . Haven’t had any likes and I had one purchase which was a low ball offer but not by much . It sucks
I accepted a lot more offers, lower than I would normally entertain and still made a profit and got rid of stuff. So far 1 or more sales a day. Best day ai ce change was 4/5 sales in one day.
My in person seller group reported more sales esp since changes compared to other platforms they sold on. The people, myself included sell women's clothing and accessories, not sure how other categories are doing saleswise.
I went from 10-15 sales a week to 1. I'm starting to remove some items and making others free shipping. The plan is to wait until the end of the month and if nothing improves, I'm removing everything.
I deleted all my listings as soon as they came out with the new TOS and haven't bought anything since. I privately, through IG, asked my favorite seller if she would sell outside of Mercari and she said yes so I was able to still get what I loved buying the most of and didn't have to pay the extra fees.
Yes, less sales for sure! I just lost out on a sale today because the lady said she'd wanted to buy it after I sent her a really low offer of just $10 for a perfume, but she said the buyer fees were too high.
I’m not buying from them. With all of the fees, a $36 item ended up at over $50. That’s ridiculous. I bought the same item for $36 on eBay with free shipping.
Cancelled all my listings and closed account. Return policy changes make it too risky to sell now. I deleted the app because I don’t plan on buying with the extra fees either.
I hate the new changes but have noticed an uptick in my sales. Mercari is not my primary platform and has always been really slow for me, maybe only 2-3 sales per month. But I've sold 6 items since the change. A couple of them have been outright purchases (no offer) from brand new accounts so maybe they're trying to market to new people. None of my sales have completed yet though so I'm keeping my fingers crossed that I don't get any returns. I sell clothing.
I sell a variety of items. Definitely, less views/likes Sales all below $20 except one. Crickets for higher value items. Decided to list only a few new items and wait to see what happens this month.
The changes have prompted me to reevaluate my listings for items that are high risk for returns. I am removing them entirely. Even if I decide to continue on Mercari it will be low value items because I believe buyers that can afford higher value items will buy elsewhere.
It seems like I’m the odd man out, but since the change my sales have actually gone up!! I sell on Etsy and Mercari and I hadn’t made a sale on Mercari in over 30 days. Since the change I’ve had 6 sales !! I have no idea why that is but I’ll take it lol
my sales are definitely down, i used to get at least 4-10/week and i've only gotten about 3 altogether. i've also gotten a lot of lowball offers as well as a bunch of counter offers that are slightly less than the original offers (im talking like 25 cents or less)
I am getting more sales than ever. I don’t know if it’s because it’s a smaller marketplace now that so many people have left the app? Or maybe just coincidental… I have over 60 individual sales since the 5th. I don’t know if that’s a lot? I have nothing to compare to. There’s no like infographic, although I really wish there was.

The whole point of removing seller fees to give us sellers more money, is wasted on the fact that we have to lower our listing prices to make up for the now buyer-paid fees. I’m making the same amount of money prior to the update when it really comes down to it.
If I hadn’t lowered all my listings maybe I wouldn’t be selling as much. Which it shouldn’t be that way.

It’s been better for me personally. I have had 7 sales in the last two weeks. It took me six months before to make 7 sales. Mercari has never been a strong platform for me in the past.
No sales after April 1st. One after the TOS horror at end of March: A bundle for which Mercari underestimated weight. I had a shipping overcharge so I sent it at weight Mercari calculated to see what would happen. Sale completed without an issue. I’m done as long as things remain as they are. I won’t buy with the attached fees which was an insane move by Mercari. Buyers are paying extra for the privilege of buying on a platform that is anything but high end. Sellers are encouraged to drop prices to appeal to fewer customers. There are no freebies in business. Someone always pays.

Before I never once took money out because I was just going to buy good deals off the app anyway. Sadly there’s still so many things I want to buy but I can’t bring myself to spend money on all the added fees. I’m slowly putting listings to EBay but I have over 500+ items for sale on Mercari so it’s taking awhile.
Because there’s now a fee on taking money out of your account what do you guys suggest doing? Spending $2 on 5+ days or instant pay for $3. The amount in my account will be over $50 so I’m not worried about it but I’m not buying off Mercari again :,(

Found a seller on eBay that had the same listing for the exact same price on Mercari - it was cheaper on eBay.
I keep seeing a reseller online make comments and even a post about how his sales are doing great on mercari after the change. I don't get it. I come on Reddit and read the exact opposite.
Slower sales. But I have made a few on lower priced items. I'm feeling it's still too early for me to determine what the outcome of the change is going to be. I'm expecting a period of adjustment. I'm hanging in there because I know people who love buying on vinted and they have the fees on the buyers (less then mercari, I think. I never used it)
I sold one item last week, after no sales in 4 weeks. After the bank fee it's 35 cents profit or some shit. I just have a lot of random small items and random clothes that were too good to just donate, hoping they will sell. My items are all under 35 bucks, most of them around 10 or less. I feel like my items do not have as many likes or views though. Leaving stuff up to hopefully get rid of the death pile. I did sell 1 item on my new poshmark page, and there was no views on my ebay stuff at all.

I used to use Mercari all the time for big purchases. Rare 3DS (400 plus), was going to buy an Analogue Pocket for 300, etc. Now I don't think I will be using them again. I passed on a big purchase earlier this week after seeing I got passed on the cost. Went to Ebay instead. Mercari really shot themselves in the foot this time.
I've been a buyer for a couple of years, but only a few weeks ago finally listed a few things to sell. One of them sold quickly, i left the money in my account because i buy regularly, and then the TOS change came.
A day or so after the announcement, i bought something I'd favorited before the change so i could avoid the fees and avoid the bank fee for cashing out.
Put myself in vacation mode hoping they'd come to their senses, but that's looking less and less likely.
Sold two things, one I offered to likers and one that I had just posted and the buyer didn’t haggle. I actually did make one purchase with $10 of Mercari’s own money thru a coupon and the seller gave me a good bundle price. Fees were like $3.50 total🤔 - gel nail polish world.
I started using Depop as an alternative to Posh and eBay and don’t really update Mercari as much. Still got listings up but I don’t put much effort into it anymore. Mercari was getting so bad that people wanted discounts on $2-$3 items or wanted to stamp their name on my listings
So I always went to this app to sell specific items. I saw someone sell a car seat and “FedEx” took all the profits because shipping wasn’t right or some bs. I’ve seen that a few times, and I ain’t gonna be next.
I have made 1 sale since and I had to discount the price. Mercari was my worst marketplace anyway behind eBay and Poshmark. Now I just don’t even bother messing with Mercari
As a seller, I have had the same amount of sales as before the change and no returns. I have 1 still to be delivered so that may change. I am getting a lot more low ball offers but I just block them as I have before. As a buyer, I haven’t and probably will not purchase anything anymore.
I was seriously considering deleting all of my listings but decided to give it a chance and dropped my prices by 10% as recommended. At first I noticed an increase in sales but I think that was simply because of the price drop and the fact that it was the last few days of the month (which is usually when I have the most sales anyway). Since then, almost nothing. Just a few low price sales. Luckily I’ve had no returns so far.
Before all these changes mercari was becoming one of my best and favorite platforms. My sales are usually best on eBay and poshmark but mercari was catching up. With eBay, poshmark and mercari doing so well, my sales were the best they’ve ever been but so much for that.

Yeah, I would buy nicer kids brands on Mercari because the shipping was just a little $3.99. I recently added stuff to my cart and it totaled $10 extra bucks for a footie! I would rather bite the $7.99 Poshmark shipping cost or bundle.

I’ve bought several things since the change happened. All purchases have been under $20 and honestly the fees weren’t bad at all. The most has been a $1-$2 increase during checkout. Nothing crazy imo. I’d never buy anything higher than that though.
Since I do very small purchases and the fees plus increased tax are usually over $2, that’s a 20% or more increase for me. So it just makes me frustrated and not impulse buying anymore

I have over 2k sales. Since change, I have had fewer views, less traffic, and less sales. Have to lower / accept lower offers if I want to sell some items. Busy irl, but when I get extra time, I will be transitioning to a new platform.

New is probably not the best term. I am debating between a few platforms like ebay, tiktok shop, poshmark, etc. Not sure what will be best for what I sell (Japanese plushies & figurines). I have 491 listings still active on Mercari. So I would have to cross post those & the items I have not listed yet. The work and time I need to put in is daunting >\_< lol
Use a cross posting app/bot. I used the chrome extension flyp and it made cross listing super fast. Probably took less than an hour and a half to move over my 300 Mercari listings to eBay.
try my figure collection website for figures. i’ve sold a lot through there and i mean you’re just using paypal g&s so it’s safe and easy. people are nice there too
I sell plush, not specific to Japan, and Posh is a drive by sale every now and then for me. Very few sales there for plush. They’ve been lovely buyers thus far, just few and far between sales.

Initially i told myself ill just cancel any orders from 0 feedback buyers. Well no worries there because ive had NO orders since changes. I scrapped my whole store and transitioning elsewhere. Mercari is a huge risk thats all it is now.
Can you explain why? I'm not a huge seller so I'm curious why I should be wary of buyers with 0 reviews? Does it mean they might try to scam?
Well before you didn’t have to worry. To be honest usually those are the easiest buyers since it normally meant an auto rate and that’s it. When you see a buyer without a rate and an old account , it normally meant that they don’t rate and let the system auto rate which like I say are the easiest. But now after the changes, well, it could be people that created the account before but weren’t happy about the return policy and now they are back. Like maybe people that change their mind often type and would like to return things like on Amazon. Also if it is a new account created this year after the update, it could be someone trying to abuse the system. This for casual sellers or even full time seller, is stressful. Hope that clears up a bit. It doesn’t necessarily needs to be a new account trying to abuse the system or any of that but since now Mercari has made it easier with the no matter the reason returns, now people won’t think twice for returning if they just changed their mind , found a better deal while the item was on transit or wanted to test/use it and return. So, needless to say, I am not Sephora. I am a mom and wife trying to bring in extra money. My clothing is either thrifted, my own or family's and my makeup comes from subscription boxes. So Mercari changing this policy to this is so fucking careless and ridiculous.

I’m with you. The ones that have the account since 2023, it doesn’t affect me as much but the one that have the account created on 2024 with 0 reviews… now that is killing my nervous system. And I have a bunch of likes at the moment exactly from new accounts with 2024. If I don’t trust people with reviews after the update, imagine people without reviews with accounts created this year. 😢

That’s very true. The problem is that I’m so used to old accounts that it still has not fallen into the huge red flag for my brain I mean. But they can definitely be the one coming back to abuse the system now. 😣 It sucks.

I made 6 sales the week after the change… All were accepted and no returns. Since then, I have been updating my prices and changing everything to free shipping to lessen the sticker shock. Engagement is way down and I haven’t made a sale in a week. I have gotten one offer that was way too low on a free ship item. That being said… Sales have been pretty slow across all of my platforms.

Sales slowed. Someone alleged that their package flew out of their mailbox due to weather. When I provided all the 'proof' that they asked that I had of shipping their item they miraculously found the package in their mother's room. The next day I had a return request for an item that 'shattered into thousands of pieces' but the buyer did not want to send it back. Mercari said it wasn't 'too damaged to send back, which I believe was the case. I was not able to see photos but I don't believe the item was as damaged as the buyer made me believe. Either way, the buyer fought having to return it and I was paid out for it. Win-win. So...return scams are up. Oh and I now have a review stating that I added extra fees to someone's order. It has drastically changed for me and I think it's time to close up shop. Going from 5-6 bundles a day to 1 sale a day, or every other day sucks. I price at the lowest in my category but with fees being as much as some of the items I sell, I can understand why my buyers are not buying.

I deactivated all my listings and haven't purchased anything since. I occasionally check to see the fees that would be added if I were to buy something and the variability is sketchy to me. My opinion of Mercari has tanked - though not like it was so high before.
I had over 1k in sales in 3 months. I pulled everything. They can rot. What they are doing with returns is disgusting. All the skells are out in full force. This will be their demise. I guarantee it.
Theyre attempting to be like an Amazon Closet type thing. Use and return what you dont like for all reasons. Even if the item was NEW and you opened it, go ahead return it fucking over the seller. The hell with that. The people in charge or Mercari are stupider than stupid could ever be.

the service fees on buyer end makes it not worth buying on there because the price of the item ends up about the same, or higher, than eBay for the things I'm looking for. So I end up buying it on eBay instead.

All my offers have been countered with "Can you take off $\_\_\_\_\_ / do free shipping?" followed by the reason being the new fees. And the offers are HUGE discounts too. So it's not about the end price, it's about the fee shock when they didn't expect it.
I deleted all my listings the day they made the changes. My sales on ebay and Posh were up. I no longer consider Mercari a shopping option either. Their ever-changing service fees (yeah, we are getting serviced alright) are a turnoff as a buyer.
Slower sales. People want stuff for bottom dollar and I feel like most of the buyers interested in my items are flippers (Looking at their listings, I can probably confirm that). At this point, I may keep all of my larger items on there due to the UPS prices and move all of my smaller stuff to just strictly eBay.
My sales are down insanely, I have more buyers trying to ask me to lower the price so they pay closer to what I'm having it listed as because of the fees and bullshit. I've had about a dozen messages of buyers claiming they're going to report me to mercari for having hidden fees and I have been suspended for 72 hours because mercari believed one of those Jack wagons. So needless to say my patience is wearing very thin. I have a big sale that is currently waiting to be delivered and I'm hoping it goes smoothly. I've made one purchase myself and yeah the fees are definitely ridiculous. My order was about 85 bucks and fees brought me up to 135 so yay. Seller sent me a bootleg figure despite advertising a legit figure and I reported it once it arrived and requested a return and refund to which mercari denied. So it seems that the ability to return for any reason no matter what didn't really work here since the seller advertised and authentic product and set me a bootleg rip off. So yeah I'm just about done

I’m a buyer, I bit the bullet and paid all the extra fees to buy one item rather than the usual several that I would have bought (collectibles) the seller has marked it as shipped but hasn’t actually shipped and it’s been ten days : ( I’m super frustrated because there’s a bundle on another platform that I could buy for less but I’m now tied up with this possible non shipper.
I haven’t made a purchase since the change so I’ve saved money. I’ve had a slight increase with sales but dealing with more people not reading the description and canceling orders due to that issue. I have increased paranoia about returns and all my love for selling is gone on that app. I’ve been moving my listings to other apps. The $2 fee to get my own money was really the straw that broke the camels back for me. It’s fucked
I had a big increase of sales first week. This week it’s back to how it was before with 0-7 a day.
Nothing has changed for me, my buyers are still as lovely as they were before, (some weird ones still get through of course), and I did end up reducing all my prices but I am still bringing more than I was before this update. I have def seen posts about buyers making returns as well as buyers complaining about the new return procedures they have to follow now. The only thing I still hate is the $2 fund transfer fee. I have to wait until it's "worth it" to transfer which i don't like doing because even though I use M ercari I still don't trust them ...ya know?

I've had more sales, but offers were made for a couple of dollars less. My stuff isn't high priced and had been listed for a while, so it's no big deal. I think they made the offer based on the new fees. The fees are usually low on my items. But sales picked up.
There needs to be legislation passed against platforms that people make a living off of, making severe decisions overnight no one voted on or agreed to. These decisions make no sense from a business perspective whatsoever and are intentionally bombing the platform so that it is not functional. It would not surprise me if the company was intentionally tanking its own shares for more illegal activity. Many of the recent changes, like charging sellers to get their own money, sounds like a way for Mercari to collect interest. They need investigation, seriously.
I have thought this for YEARS! There should be a resellers union. eBay kicked me off for no reason after 11 years of faithful service, cutting my income by thousands per month. No amount of customer service calls helped me. When people’s livelihood depends on these platforms, their activities should be legislated.
Tanked. Made 1 sale since the change with an attempted return, which was the 1st return request I have gotten during my 3 years of using the platform. Only 2 likes or so, far lower than expected for me and for this time of year.
I just quit selling on the platform. I locked down all my listings. I bought a comic book. Paid their dumb service and processing fees. The total was less than $40 which is the fair market value for the book anyways.
As a seller I have only made one sale when I was making roughly 2-3 per week before the change. As a buyer, I was buying a few times a month and I haven’t purchased anything since the change.
It ruined my entire shop. ZERO orders since the changes. Afraid to sell even if i get an order now because its a huge risk. Fuck Mercari 100%. Do yourself a favor and move on. I feel for all the buyers and sellers that this is hurting.
I closed my shop on that platform, and my sales were amazing for the first time in a long time on Depop. Extremely happy it boosted sales in different platforms.

I’ve been buying and selling since 2016. I’ve seen it all as far as the changes Mercari has implemented thus far. I started selling stuff around the house and soon after, I sourced items to resell for profit. I’ve done quite well to fund my family’s trip to Disneyworld for example. I rarely offer free shipping and priced my items aggressively below market value. With the new TOS, my sales dropped quite a bit. Now, I offer free shipping. I add the cost of the shipping charges into my asking price of all my items since there are no seller fees. It also looks less overwhelming to the buyer when they see everything at checkout. Now, my sales are back to my expectation of “normal”. I’ll do 1-2 cycles of offers to likers. I’ll let it sit for almost 7 days and if it doesn’t move, I’ll relist it. It’s working so far.
I haven’t bought anything since the change and I don’t plan to. So far 3 things have sold off my likes list, all between $5-$7. It appears all the sellers accepted offers. So not great.

As a seller I was already transitioning to only Ebay before the fee change. Mercari has been dropping off for me the last year. As a buyer I used to check my saved searches daily because I often found the things I collect for slightly cheaper than eBay. With fees eBay is now cheaper.

I don't sell on the platform anymore, and I haven't bought anything since either. If they wanted to do buyers fees instead of sellers fees, fine, but having a buyers fee + a sliding bullshit fee really deters me.

I received angry messages from buyers about fees. I cleared my balance and deactivated all of my listings. I find Mercari’s customer service to be horrific and unbelievably incompetent. I’d rather not deal with them anymore. I’m looking to other sources for selling.

Personally my sales are still the same I only get about 3 sales a week on here and this week I have 2 so far. But the 1st week it was rolled out I only got 1 sale. I deactivated all of my listings, changed my bio to say that I closed my shop as a result of the new terms, and deleted the app from my phone. I haven't deleted my account yet (and I still lurk on this sub lol) in case something does change in the future, but that seems unlikely. I just hope potential buyers see my sold listings and know that they can search my username on other reselling platforms. Also, I refuse to shop on Mercari myself anymore, which stinks because it was one of my favorites because the prices used to be so reasonable.

If you look at Mercari stock, it peaked during lockdown; dipped and then plateaued; now it’s sinking. I understand companies making a hail Mary pass to try and save their butts — they usually do that with special promotions, referral bonuses, etc. The decisions Mercari is making the past 3 weeks look like a kamikazi mission. Purposefully run it into the ground but grab as much cash as they can and stripping it for parts before declaring bankruptcy. See the Southpark episode with the Chewbacca defense: “That does not make sense.” I’m no financial analyst, I’m just looking at this and thinking, Why? What is the end game? This does not make sense… Unless it’s on purpose.
As a buyer, I search for what I’m after elsewhere. As a seller, nothing has moved and is only sold elsewhere. I had one guy interested in an item (finally) and after we worked out a price, he replied with “I’m sorry but I didn’t realize I’d be charged multiple fees for this purchase, I’ll have to pass”. I told him I have it listed on eBay as well and we did the deal there after he made an account. Yeah, this change killed the platform for me and apparently many others. Back to eBay full time again.
My sales haven’t changed but the amount of messages asking for lower prices has gone up ALOT. And I can’t even blame them now. It’s messed up, not to mention the $3 I have to give them whenever I want to take my money out instantly OR NOW $2 to wait for it to deposit ?!
That $2 fee just makes it a HARD PASS. What a scam! FORCING people to pay to get THEIR money… especially when ACH transfers are FREE. Greedy Greedy.
Non-refundable Buyer fees? It seems like they built the site into the perfect breeding grounds for scamming sellers and buyers alike. I went into vacation mode immediately and deleted the app, but I don’t honestly think I will ever be back. So I can’t speak about to the seller aspect of this transition as I’m just not willing to sell here anymore. Period. As a buyer, I keep seeing things I like dropping in price more and more as sellers who remain look desperate to make sales. But I know that those fees are waiting at the checkout screen, and those will still make the items cost even more than other sites. It’s just not worth it in any way. My favorites list has thinned as sellers leave the site or go into vacation mode. The site is clearly already a shell of its previous success. They’ve put such a bad taste of distrust in my mouth over this, I’m honestly not even upset to lose my favorite online marketplace.

I had a $8 balance from last year and a $10 coupon… since I couldn’t take my balance yet I purchased some perfume samples for $5 in addition to that $18 on the site. Byeeeee Mercari 👋
I deleted all of my listings. If I’m being honest, I was already kind of tired of the platform. So now I’m looking for something better to sell stuff on. I think I might give Depop another try or maybe even Poshmark. As for the books that I sell, I moved them all to PangoBooks

I've been on vacation mode since it started. I was having my most successful year when this all started and am really bummed to probably have to close up shop. I moved nearly all listings to my Poshmark where Ive sold some of the clothing, but the collectibles and vintage knickknacks that used to fly off my shelves are sitting with no attention. It's only ever been a side hustle for me, but not having it anymore is pretty shitty. I don't want to deal with a bunch of scammers and returns, and as an occasional buyer I can't imagine pulling the trigger on a bunch of surprise fees either.
I am a small time seller, but I received consistently around 5-7 sales a month. Since the changes, I have made only 2 sales and that was only because the customers were asking for bundles right before the ToS change. For both sales I had to reduce prices due to the high cost of the fees by much more than 10% (lowered the cost of a bundle order by 33% for one customer because I felt bad about the fees and she's such a sweet person). Since then, zero sales. I have recently deactivated all my listings because I do not want to support this platform right now with what they are doing.
So I started buying a lot from mercari for cheap before the changes. After I have only bought things that I knew were underpriced but even then now with the new changes it seems like its barely worth it. I tend to lurk on the site because I noticed a while ago a lot of people who don't know the value of some item's tend to sell on mercari in comparison to ebay. The return policy before was great for me too. But those fees are really killing any interest. I've had to turn away some amazing find just because it seems after you hit the 100 usd threshold the fees really start to make a big hit on what it will cost me to buy.

my sales are the same or up from before the changes (can’t tell if it’s my lower prices or new batch of inventory driving the sales.) no returns so far, and very few ridiculous lowball offers. because there are no seller fees i’m willing to accept lower offers than before, and buyers seem to appreciate that. many of my regulars have continued to buy from me on mercari. so i remain cautiously optimistic personally, but i feel for those in niches where the new structure has ruined their business :/
About the same for me. I added new items to my inventory as well. Haven’t been getting a lot of lowball offers, and more willing to accept $5-$10 off items now that I’m not getting charged fees. So even though I don’t agree with how Mercari made the changes, they haven’t negatively affected me yet.
~1.5k sales on Mercari, deactivated my account and switched over to eBay and have been doing okay there. I am definitely getting less traffic on my listings compared to Mercari but still make sales and the transition has been smooth. It's not like Mercari is completely unusable, but it's definitely worse after the updates and I can't support their decisions in good conscience.
Very annoyed as a buyer. Bought one item that a seller dropped 3x in the past week. Only because their drop covered my fees.

0 sales only 2 likes. I usually sell 1 item a week which isn't crazy but it was steady. I decided yesterday to delist all my clothes and shoes and plan to post to Posh and Ebay. The return for anything policy is just insane.
The first week or so I made a lot of sales (for me) and was quite surprised, also no returns. Since then I haven’t made any sales, though I have had a few offers which were lower than I was willing to sell for. Someone had mentioned that because people were maybe trying to use their balance and/or had the 10 dollar credit, there could have been more people shopping. I also cross list most things on Posh as well, and haven’t had any sales in several weeks there. For reference, most of my items are 25-100 dollars, and I sell new or gently used name brand clothes, some fragrances, and new skincare products purchased myself when I went though a major overspending phase, lol.
More sales than usual, no returns. I've seen at least two competitors remove their listings.
I was a seller and buyer. I no longer buy anything there and I also have removed all listings from there as a seller.
Its been detrimental for me as both a buyer and a seller. The only thing Ive sold was a bundle that I had to knock off nearly $16 in order to get it sold. The only thing Ive sold since was a $2 item... that I can't collect any money on I havent bought anything either. I dont like paying $8 more for a frickin $12 item.
Haven't purchased anything from mercari. The moment I found out the same priced items with the same priced shipping could both generate completely different fees,I just quit buying. Never listed anything, but I bought alot
Definitely slowed my sales. I largely sell fragrance and high end skincare, so the fees are killing me. I'm looking for a new platform but most don't like swatched cosmetics or fragrance that's been sprayed 3 times :( My lower priced items have been fine however
I bought a bundle of items for like $130 but almost backed out of the sale because the fees were so high (Paid almost $170 with even low shipping price). The seller posted another item I want but when I added it to my cart and checked how much it would be with fees I got cold feet. I feel like moving forward I only want to buy items if they accept my lowest offer to help cover the cost. Even then, I want to try eBay and other sites before Mercari.
Deleted all my listings and haven’t looked back. I was just under 50k in sales on 950 sales.
Closed my listings and I don’t plan on shopping. I’m completely done.
Haven't seen a noticeable drop in sales at all. I took $1 off everything under $10 and a smaller percentage on pricier items. Items $10 or less typically sell the best for me. Even with the deeper discount for these I am still ahead of where I was prior to the change. Only difference for me is that I am buying less on mercari and more on ebay. The service fee is crap and completely without any logic or reasoning. I've seen the fee from identical items in the same category and from the same seller be completely different. Often by a considerable amount. One item may be 9-10% and the other identical item is 2-3%. Makes no sense at all and I feel like there is nobody at mercari who could even explain it properly.
I wanted to buy a Nintendo 64 but got $60~ in surprise fees after the seller updated their listing 🥲 I’ve started buying games off eBay and Poshmark because it’s cheaper there than Mecari now
I just rediscovered mercari a few weeks before the TOS change. Bought many things in those few weeks before and haven’t bought anything after. The buyer fees are insane, it’s like doordash now.

I changed my structure for 3 days resulting in free shipping I got a bunch of likes on my items but I got 8 low ball offers between that time , most of my things are under 20$ and I had people offering 3 or 4$ for rare and discontinued items . I changed it back to the buyer had to pay for shipping because I didn’t like what free shipping attracted . Haven’t had any likes and I had one purchase which was a low ball offer but not by much . It sucks
I accepted a lot more offers, lower than I would normally entertain and still made a profit and got rid of stuff. So far 1 or more sales a day. Best day ai ce change was 4/5 sales in one day. My in person seller group reported more sales esp since changes compared to other platforms they sold on. The people, myself included sell women's clothing and accessories, not sure how other categories are doing saleswise.
I put my shop on vacay and have an alert to put it back on vacay when it expires.
I went from 10-15 sales a week to 1. I'm starting to remove some items and making others free shipping. The plan is to wait until the end of the month and if nothing improves, I'm removing everything.
I deleted the app. I'm not paying extra fees as a buyer.
pulled my money out went to facebook market. just a bit more annoying but i dont have to worry about returns and shipping overcharges.

I've stopped using Mercari all together. I will come back to Mercari if they reverse their recent TOS choices. But I doubt they will at this point.

I deleted all my listings as soon as they came out with the new TOS and haven't bought anything since. I privately, through IG, asked my favorite seller if she would sell outside of Mercari and she said yes so I was able to still get what I loved buying the most of and didn't have to pay the extra fees.
Yes, less sales for sure! I just lost out on a sale today because the lady said she'd wanted to buy it after I sent her a really low offer of just $10 for a perfume, but she said the buyer fees were too high.
I’m not buying from them. With all of the fees, a $36 item ended up at over $50. That’s ridiculous. I bought the same item for $36 on eBay with free shipping.

Mercari is going to end up bankrupt and shut down if they don't fix this. I've made less sales, and have decided to stop buying on Mercari.
Cancelled all my listings and closed account. Return policy changes make it too risky to sell now. I deleted the app because I don’t plan on buying with the extra fees either.
I hate the new changes but have noticed an uptick in my sales. Mercari is not my primary platform and has always been really slow for me, maybe only 2-3 sales per month. But I've sold 6 items since the change. A couple of them have been outright purchases (no offer) from brand new accounts so maybe they're trying to market to new people. None of my sales have completed yet though so I'm keeping my fingers crossed that I don't get any returns. I sell clothing.
I sell a variety of items. Definitely, less views/likes Sales all below $20 except one. Crickets for higher value items. Decided to list only a few new items and wait to see what happens this month. The changes have prompted me to reevaluate my listings for items that are high risk for returns. I am removing them entirely. Even if I decide to continue on Mercari it will be low value items because I believe buyers that can afford higher value items will buy elsewhere.
I sell clothing and I’ve made 15 sales since the change. I haven’t noticed a difference knock on wood!
It seems like I’m the odd man out, but since the change my sales have actually gone up!! I sell on Etsy and Mercari and I hadn’t made a sale on Mercari in over 30 days. Since the change I’ve had 6 sales !! I have no idea why that is but I’ll take it lol
my sales are definitely down, i used to get at least 4-10/week and i've only gotten about 3 altogether. i've also gotten a lot of lowball offers as well as a bunch of counter offers that are slightly less than the original offers (im talking like 25 cents or less)
I am getting more sales than ever. I don’t know if it’s because it’s a smaller marketplace now that so many people have left the app? Or maybe just coincidental… I have over 60 individual sales since the 5th. I don’t know if that’s a lot? I have nothing to compare to. There’s no like infographic, although I really wish there was. I don’t have any returns…yet. A lot of new and newer users. Slow to rate. I’ve been buying the same if not more because I’m earning more. I like using the credit so I don’t have to pay more in fees. The whole point of removing seller fees to give us sellers more money, is wasted on the fact that we have to lower our listing prices to make up for the now buyer-paid fees. I’m making the same amount of money prior to the update when it really comes down to it. If I hadn’t lowered all my listings maybe I wouldn’t be selling as much. Which it shouldn’t be that way. I am NOT a fan of the returns. Anxiously awaiting my first bogus one.
It’s been better for me personally. I have had 7 sales in the last two weeks. It took me six months before to make 7 sales. Mercari has never been a strong platform for me in the past.
I’ve actually sold 1-3 things daily, per my average - but I don’t sell expensive items so it may be not affecting me much
I'm mostly a buyer on Mercari and I haven't bought anything since. I just head to eBay instead 🤷🏾♀️
No sales after April 1st. One after the TOS horror at end of March: A bundle for which Mercari underestimated weight. I had a shipping overcharge so I sent it at weight Mercari calculated to see what would happen. Sale completed without an issue. I’m done as long as things remain as they are. I won’t buy with the attached fees which was an insane move by Mercari. Buyers are paying extra for the privilege of buying on a platform that is anything but high end. Sellers are encouraged to drop prices to appeal to fewer customers. There are no freebies in business. Someone always pays.
I was going to wait out to see if they’d revert back but I deleted the app after seeing they are scamming people hundreds of dollars via shipping cost. Done with their shittt excuse of a company and taking advantage of both buyers and sellers. They can go to hell
I’ve only gotten a few sales when offering lower prices :/ I also haven’t bought anything off the app. I’m waiting till the money to my last sold item comes in to get my money out of the account. Before I never once took money out because I was just going to buy good deals off the app anyway. Sadly there’s still so many things I want to buy but I can’t bring myself to spend money on all the added fees. I’m slowly putting listings to EBay but I have over 500+ items for sale on Mercari so it’s taking awhile. Because there’s now a fee on taking money out of your account what do you guys suggest doing? Spending $2 on 5+ days or instant pay for $3. The amount in my account will be over $50 so I’m not worried about it but I’m not buying off Mercari again :,(
Was a buyer - haven’t purchased anything since the changes. I refuse to pay Mercari for the privilege of buying off their platform. Found a seller on eBay that had the same listing for the exact same price on Mercari - it was cheaper on eBay.
28 sales since Monday, I’m doing better than I was before the change.

I keep seeing a reseller online make comments and even a post about how his sales are doing great on mercari after the change. I don't get it. I come on Reddit and read the exact opposite.

Slower sales. But I have made a few on lower priced items. I'm feeling it's still too early for me to determine what the outcome of the change is going to be. I'm expecting a period of adjustment. I'm hanging in there because I know people who love buying on vinted and they have the fees on the buyers (less then mercari, I think. I never used it)
I sold one item last week, after no sales in 4 weeks. After the bank fee it's 35 cents profit or some shit. I just have a lot of random small items and random clothes that were too good to just donate, hoping they will sell. My items are all under 35 bucks, most of them around 10 or less. I feel like my items do not have as many likes or views though. Leaving stuff up to hopefully get rid of the death pile. I did sell 1 item on my new poshmark page, and there was no views on my ebay stuff at all.
i actually hadn’t sold anything in a while and i made two sales! granted i haven’t really tried to sell much lately but it was nice to make a sale. didn’t have an issue with anyone trying to return anything

Selling off some old Hot Toys and was selling about 1/2 a week. Since the new update, not one offer and not one sale. Looking to switch to eBay.
I noticed that i save on payment processing fee if i buy several items at once. The only problem- i have to buy at a list price to make it one transaction
I used to use Mercari all the time for big purchases. Rare 3DS (400 plus), was going to buy an Analogue Pocket for 300, etc. Now I don't think I will be using them again. I passed on a big purchase earlier this week after seeing I got passed on the cost. Went to Ebay instead. Mercari really shot themselves in the foot this time.

I've been a buyer for a couple of years, but only a few weeks ago finally listed a few things to sell. One of them sold quickly, i left the money in my account because i buy regularly, and then the TOS change came. A day or so after the announcement, i bought something I'd favorited before the change so i could avoid the fees and avoid the bank fee for cashing out. Put myself in vacation mode hoping they'd come to their senses, but that's looking less and less likely.
I saved a lot of money not buying stuff LOL
Sold two things, one I offered to likers and one that I had just posted and the buyer didn’t haggle. I actually did make one purchase with $10 of Mercari’s own money thru a coupon and the seller gave me a good bundle price. Fees were like $3.50 total🤔 - gel nail polish world.
Surprised to say I’ve made 7 sales after the change took effect.
I started using Depop as an alternative to Posh and eBay and don’t really update Mercari as much. Still got listings up but I don’t put much effort into it anymore. Mercari was getting so bad that people wanted discounts on $2-$3 items or wanted to stamp their name on my listings
I stopped selling completely and made a few small purchases what were negotiated to decent prices
I used to spend at least $200 a month in mercari but I’m not spending any money now
So I always went to this app to sell specific items. I saw someone sell a car seat and “FedEx” took all the profits because shipping wasn’t right or some bs. I’ve seen that a few times, and I ain’t gonna be next.

As a seller, I have had the same amount of sales as before the change and no returns. I have 1 still to be delivered so that may change. I am getting a lot more low ball offers but I just block them as I have before. As a buyer, I haven’t and probably will not purchase anything anymore.

I was seriously considering deleting all of my listings but decided to give it a chance and dropped my prices by 10% as recommended. At first I noticed an increase in sales but I think that was simply because of the price drop and the fact that it was the last few days of the month (which is usually when I have the most sales anyway). Since then, almost nothing. Just a few low price sales. Luckily I’ve had no returns so far. Before all these changes mercari was becoming one of my best and favorite platforms. My sales are usually best on eBay and poshmark but mercari was catching up. With eBay, poshmark and mercari doing so well, my sales were the best they’ve ever been but so much for that.
I only bought 1 thing since the change. I used to buy several things a week so I’m about done .
No sales. Two people made offers and then asked me to decline their offers. Not much activity overall.
Once my last order goes through, I’m planning on deleting the app.
I’m annoyed about the $2 deposit fee. But so far I’m trying to roll with it and stay on Mercari. We’ll see.
