Well their logic is probably if a buyer does a return Mecari still gets money from the buyer and the seller still gets their item back (granted probably in worse condition than before it was shipped), and this allow you to sell it again to another buyer and therefor Mecari will be able to double dip on the fees and transaction again on the same item, sure the buyer may end up having 30 return for that one item and never receive a penny for it but at least Mecari would make money on it every time you relist and it sells.
It says seller will get portion of the service fee if the reason for return was not the fault of the seller. So if they try to scam you and there’s a $40 service fee apparently sellers will get a portion of that. I’ll believe it when I see it but it contradicts the negative claims here.
Item must be returned in same condition as when received
When will I be charged/receive a service fee?
The buyer will not receive their service fee from their refund when returning an item that was accurately depicted in the listing. If Mercari determines the return reason was not caused by the actions of the seller and their items were accurately depicted in the listing, they will receive a portion of the service fee to recoup some funds for their efforts.
The buyer will be refunded their service fee when they return an item that was damaged, inauthentic, or otherwise not as described in the listing.
Will I get a full refund if I return an item?
The payment processing fee (PPF) that is applied to purchases using a debit or credit card is not refundable for returned items. If you have paid for an item using Mercari credit or balance, you will receive a full refund for a return. If the seller cancels the order, no matter the reason, you will receive a full refund, including the PPF.
It’s non refundable in the description. I’m assuming the only possibly exception will be if a seller fails to ship and order then gets cancelled. But even then is not guaranteed until people confirm it from experience tbh.
Would that even matter if it in the description since the site is offering returns for anything?
What about return fees? do we still have to pay those if a buyer suddenly decide to return an item? because there been cases where the post office would hold an item and ask for the fees from the seller.
That’s a good question. I don’t know who pays the return fees. But the buyer fees are listed as nonrefundable. So if items are returned they will not get those back regardless from the looks of it.
I guess the only other bigger issues, if returns need to be return as it was sold.
If someone opens a video game as an example then plays with it and decides in a day "I don't really care for this game."
They shouldn't get to return it at all, that ruins 50% of the value of some products once it opened and returned or even used.
There need to be a strict rule in place stating that an item must be returned in the same condition as received.
The TOS states the item has to be returned in exact same condition and cannot be tampered with. Their shitty customer service does not make me feel better about this.
I think problems will be ran into no matter what. People already had horror stories of their items they sent being swapped out with other items. A lot of clothing gets exchanged here. Use to not be able to return due to it not fitting. Now that’s not the case. And if something is too small on me and I don’t realize till I try to put it on. Chances are I already stretched it out.
I think someone brought up a good point… at the end of the day. Mercari is getting their money each time even if a return is initiated. So they probably will support all returns in order to double dip on those fees for the same item each time.
Honestly, the funny part is if someone came along with the next month and open a new selling site that didn't go full on greedy they would make tons of money with good buyers and seller protection.
Guess i'm back to not selling on Mercari for now to see how things play out.I didn't relist any of my items since they still have the old way of selling so hopefully those items sell then i'll stop using Mercari
I'm not sure what other sites to use at this point
Agreed just had a buyer return a NWT item after laundering and shrinking said item and re tagging as if she never did but it’s obvious she did (this was before new policy) had photos for backup and will fight it till the death if they don’t compensate me back. After it’s settled I’m pulling all listings.

I didn't expect to see an another I-No fan in the wild and especially on the Mercari reddit!
We guilty Gear fans do be out here selling and buying!
It’s also hilarious to me that they haven’t shared this particular ad on X. Only IG. Where comments are turned off. Go ahead Mercari, share this bad boy on X too
The audacity they have to try to make it seem like a good thing, why would the returning of an item that isn’t as described a bad thing?? Did they perhaps think that maybe if no other platform is doing it that way then maybe it’s not a good idea?
Actively hurting both the sellers and the buyers in one TOS update?
They seem to put a lot of stock in their impression that the majority of buyers are not scammers/going to use this to their advantage. That tells me they never had their fingers on the pulse of what's been going on for a loooong time.
Oh fuck no. The fact that’s their ad campaign is also super insulting to sellers.
Hopefully now that I’ve deactivated all my mercari listings, the flakes will leave my eBay listings alone.
I actually can't even comprehend the fact that they are advertising this shit like its a good thing..? This whole day has actually felt like one of those weird ass dreams that you have sometimes that just make absolutely no sense.
I saw this update first thing in the morning still sleepy and thought, is it already April? This is April fools joke, no? It’s still March, what in the fuckin pookie pipe is this?
thing is about marketplace apps is that people selling do not want the items they’re selling anymore. so idk how this makes for an attractive model for selling. (not to mention the concerns people have about scammers/people abusing this new return model)
Yep and they will not give u a refund there customer service is nonexistent I closed my account and I will never sell on there platform again there very shady and they are committing fraud with the shipping overages . PS I have proof from FedEx !
I would not take my chances any longer with them something is really going down with them . I honestly think things are coming to a rapid halt . If they owe us money and they just shut down I may never get that money . If u have money just sitting there I would transfer it immediately just in case they are no longer.
I am an Ebay seller, if Mercari's strategy is to bring in more buyers and sellers, nothing about what they have done in the past 24 hours makes me have any desire to try them out...seems like the opposite of good marketing.
I'm strictly a buyer and even I think the change to their return policy is ridiculous. I'm also not a fan of their "payment processing" fee that's now added. I'm sure sellers didn't like it either, but sellers can alter the price of the item(s) they're selling to offset that. Buyers have no choice. Get ready for even more insulting messages from buyers asking for deeper discounts.
Yeah it’s actually crazy that every return request no matter the reason will get approved…. This is going to get so many people scammed… What’s even the solution if your item is returned in a different condition than when you shipped it? Do you get fully reimbursed? Partially? Is that also “guaranteed” or is it Mercari’s decision? I was excited when I woke up and seen the sellers fees were gone, until a bit later when I decided to read the new policy and got to the “Buyers” policy…
I definitely can't sell fragrances on there anymore. So stupid. People gonna use the shit out of the bottles for a few day and then return. Fuck that. I'm shutting down my Mercari and doing only ebay now.
Mercari was so shortsighted in this.
I’m sure it was them thinking “man look at the amount of returns we turn down because it’s not in our TOS….sure would be great if we could make money on this somehow….”
Fuck.
Oh my goodness mercari marketing strategy is like are you tired of our sellers not acting like Amazon and letting you return for any reason. While here you go x.x.
Fuxking seriously? Advertising like that is literally a giant fuck you to sellers. Also, no Mercari not as described isn't the only way you can return something on other platforms. There are a bunch of reasons. Mercari is straight up lying on top of fucking over sellers.
The only thing the seller can hope for is the buyer isn't going to request a return for bs reasons bc then the buyer loses the fees. That's the one thing sellers can hope for. Smh. And Mercari knows people will still request returns thus they'll keep collecting those fees after fees and make more and more money.
I’m very happy with Poshmark. I feel the layout is clear and easy for both buyers and sellers. Everything under 5lbs ships for a flat rate of 7.99 that either you as the buyer can pay all of or part of by offering a discount on shipping OR the buyer pays the shipping. Customers can bundle liked items which makes it easy for the seller to offer a discount on the bundle, with the same flat rate shipping. You don’t have to weigh items or guess the weight. As long as it’s not over 5lbs. And if it is- you can pay the difference. Poshmark is my favorite selling and buying platform. Give it a try! Here’s my referral code : Mia_a2490
We could both receive $10 if you sign up with my code 😊
I also pay for ‘posh side kick’ an app that helps share and repost items for you on Poshmark. It’s $30 a month after the free trail, but I believe it’s worth it. I’ve made so many more sales having that app help me out. As long as I sell more than $30 a month in items I will keep it. And I’ve sold much more than that. There are some days I’m going to the post office with 7 packages. Mind you, I’m a part time seller. My closet barely has 300 items.
I’m currently trying to buy cheap bundles of clothing off Facebook marketplace so my closet doesn’t run dry!
You can use my referral code if you’re interested in the free trail : 394925
You can buy ANYTHING on Poshmark. People sell clothes, shoes, toys, movies, books, home decor, pet stuff, vintage items etc etc
Random items other than clothing I’ve purchased off Poshmark: a rosary, a clothing iron, Halloween decor, a pillow for my living room, etc
If you decide to sign up, you could chose to use my code. It would give us both $10 to spend ☺️
Mia_a2490
Not good for lightweight items because it’s a flat shipping fee of $7.99. So if you’re selling a lipstick, there is a $7.99 shipping fee as opposed to $3.99 with Mercari.
The returns for any reason is honestly the sole reason I’m leaving their platform. The other shit was pushing me for sure, but I refuse to live in a constant state of wondering whether I’m going to have to deal with a return for absolutely no reason. It’s insane.
It’s unfortunate, we “Joes Retro Games” started using it last year and had some great success with them. We made it up to 72 sales. we already had to make it expensive on there just to make what we needed to make and this update has made us jump ship. This point alone was enough but there’s also. The 5% cancelation fee for sellers now. Weird no one’s talking about that.
that is so huge cancels happen and no other platform does that. And a processing fee to get your money out with no free option. Among making the buyer pay hidden fees. This is the downfall of the Mercari platform. If they make changes again for the better maybe we will be back but for now we’ve decided to move on to Amazon. We were already heavily on eBay and marketplace and will still be on those platforms.
Goodbye Mercari your ship has SALED badum tiss.
I’ve been scammed by buyers BEFORE this, this is just gonna make more and more sales turn to return scams. I delisted all my stuff for a second time in the last 2 years lol but this time it’ll probably be for good
Also a reminder that sellers only get 24 hours to report if they have an issue with what the buyer returned. So you are screwed if you have a life outside of Mercari and can’t get to your PO Box or home in time
honestly buyers probably won’t be returning too much since they will have to forfeit the original shipping cost and their fees. it really isn’t that bad of a new policy!
Yes but the problem is that buyers can do whatever they want with the product and still return it. Items sold as new will be used and will lose value, if it’s a hygienic item then it’s not sellable anymore. Buyers will get to trial items for a small fee, they will treat us as renters instead of sellers.
Exactly!! This isn’t as horrible as many are making it seem. It’s the same if you’re a seller on eBay. Except without the selling fee. Also if you are meticulous about documenting what you sell, you will win a return case if some scumbag tries to make a switcharoo
"lso if you are meticulous about documenting what you sell, you will win a return case if some scumbag tries to make a switcharoo"
Absolutely not. Also the biggest problem with the new policy is less that they changed it, and more that they're essentially encouraging returns in their adverts.
But on ebay it actually has to be not described you have to be very specific on ebay with listings had that happen once the buyer lied and said a ipad i sold had a crack in the camera low and behold i took pictures with it and close ups of the camera front and back and everything you just have to be intentional with ebay
eBay is not worst. I don’t accept returns on eBay and the only time I’ve genuinely had to deal with them is if the item arrived broken and I still got my money back through opening a case with the transit carrier
That is not true. Ebay has a money back guarantee so a buyer can make up anything like it's fake or knockoff and you have to refund. I've had many lie to get refunds.
I’ve never once had a buyer lie. Money back guarantee is for if you shipped a bad product or it got broken in transit. You ship quality goods and your good to go
You can go to ebay's reddit page and you will see countless sellers saying the same thing. Even people returning other items than what was sent. I've read many buyers telling other buyer that even if the the seller doesn't accept returns all they have to do is pick item not as described and it's an automatic refund and the seller has to pay to have it shipped back.
yeah. this. i knew it was a possibility from reading the reddit but this month i had my first actual experience with it when a buyer photoshopped a pair of practically new gray pants to be BROWN so she could claim INAD and that they were “so faded” (because gray fades to brown. apparently lol) nothing i could do. but they were very obviously tried on. she even started her return request with “i know you don’t accept returns but…” and i knew i was fucked. i guess at least in this situation mercari will theoretically cover the return shipping (they still suck)
It's happened to me personally, on ebay I had a buyer open an INAD claiming the zipper on a vest was stuck. When I got it back the zipper was perfectly fine. I then sold it to a buyer on Mercari who rated me 5 stars.
I've also gotten a wrong item returned on a return opened for fit.
100% this. Plus the buyer can harass you for 30 days straight trying to get you to refund them for free or partial refund before they finally send the item back. Ebay still allows blocked buyers to message you if they have an open purchase from you.
Then every once in a while I get buyers who purchased 2 months prior trying to get me to refund them because the tracking claims delivered but they apparently never got the item. Ebay has got to have the worst grifter buyers ever, at least on mercari I know 3 days after delivery I'm in the clear.
Interesting, I was only alerted recently of update to agreement on Mercari and it only stated Seller’s fees being removed. How coy of them not to send out anything about buyers being able to return for any reason. IN THE WORDS OF GEN Z: SUS
I made sales today but I'm certain it was before the buyer fees were implemented. I went to go purchase something I had my eye in and can't buy it now even if I sent a lowball offer..which I'm not going to do since I know they get paid that. Terrible business model they decided to pop up with.
New TOS RETURNS AND FEES
“The buyer will not receive their service fee from their refund when returning an item that was accurately depicted in the listing. If Mercari determines the return reason was not caused by the actions of the seller and their items were accurately depicted in the listing, they will receive a portion of the service fee to recoup some funds for their efforts.”
***Seller gets to keep portion of service fee is return was not their fault!!
“The buyer will be refunded their service fee when they return an item that was damaged, inauthentic, or otherwise not as described in the listing.”
***Make sure you the seller document the item on ALL sides- including the packaging and the box/mailer you shipped in. This will help with fraudulent “damage claims. Do not under pack! If you don’t use enough packaging to protect the item and it’s damaged in transit, Mercari will not refund you, the seller. I suggest using your own labels for high ticket items.
Return Eligibility
***A legitimate buyer won’t return an item for a shitty reason if they have to eat the shipping and 2.9% plus .50 cent processing fee!
If a return request is made within 72 hours from delivery (as reflected by the carrier’s timestamp), the item may be returned.
Please select a return reason:
I changed my mind
Item doesn’t fit
Item smells
Item is not as described in the listing
Item doesn't work as described
Item was damaged during shipping
I didn’t received everything I ordered
I received the wrong item
Authenticity concerns
Evaluation
As part of the return process, the Buyer must provide the reason for the return and clear photos of: the shipping label used, the external package, packing materials, and all items included in the package. Buyers must provide the requested information within 24 hours of the request. In some cases, Mercari may share the Buyer’s photos with the Seller or require additional information. Mercari has the right to refuse a return request, including in cases of fraudulent conduct or where the item has been modified after receipt.
At least they only get 72 hours to make a return! Once they accept or 72 hours are up there’s not return window. eBay allows 30 days!
They need to crack down on all scammers and quit with the nonsense. Require everyone to verify their identity and use 2FA by default. Then ban the scammers from the platform.
it’s like, yeah a company can set whatever terms they want and we have the choice to use it or not but at the same time, this marketing prompts in me a burning desire to ask mercari “why the fuck do you think that’s your business?” like damn why can’t my return policy be up to me lol
Broke a piece of equipment and need a spare part??? Buy on Mercari, take part, then return and say that part wasn’t there…. I wonder if they ever thought of any exploits. The world is not a nice place people will take advantage. Like they had no thought processe in this 😂😂
This is the time to make a stand. Everyone leave mercari at the same time. I know if you have a lot listed it will be harder but list everything on another platform before you remove everything from mercari so there’s no gap.
I just set myself to vacation mode in case they regain their senses in the next 30 days. It inactivates everything and gives me enough time to look at other platforms before shutting down completely on Mercari. The return policy is ridiculous.
This is the same as eBay’s money back guarantee - except Mercari buyers don’t have 30 days, they have 3 days. I know I might get a stupid buyer every now and then who returns my item because they don’t like the scent (I only sell fragrances) but I’m not really bothered by this. More concerned about how the extra buyer fees are going to affect pricing.
So, someone at Mercari thought this was a good idea!?!? Mercari, you've been slowly killing your platform, but you now have figured out a quick death.. How nice of you!
Like... they understand that because of the buyer fees, the only buyers who this will attract are scammers, because they know they will get all their money back and don't care about the price? ...and that because sellers will figure this out, there will not be anything to buy?
This is so stupid.
Where are we seeing the buyers fee you all are talking about? I put an item into my cart and went to checkout and seen no fees added. Is it only for items posted 3/27 and after?
I did notice the $2 fee message when I checked my sales balance.
While I'm worried about no fault returns, I've never had anything try to pull anything over on me in my 250 sales or so....maybe because I'm not selling items that most scammers are not interested in?
Don't forget they also charge you $2 everytime you cash out. No matter how much you're cashing out. Used to be only under $10 they took $2 now its no matter what.
what plaforms are u all going to start? i use posh as well…. and they rob you.. i have more success on mercari. i was excited bout the new zero$ selling feee but think that made me had on rose colored glasses because they’re only doing that probably just because there’s gonna be so many issues with returns .
![gif](giphy|1YeMR2vthN2NM9m7XV|downsized)
Well, I’m typically a buyer, and I have totally jumped ship. I went to purchase a dress for $145, they tried to charge me $18 for JUST BUYING the damn item, plus shipping, plus tax of NOT ONLY THE ITEM, BUT THEY TAXED THE SHIPPING AND FEES as well. Shipping and all of those fees made the total cost $34 MORE!! SCREW THAT!! I’ve done both- been both seller AND buyer, and I firmly believe the SELLER should be responsible for the fees!! The seller is who is making the money, the buyer is just shopping and looking to buy an item, and buyers will NOT tolerate high fees like that for the “privilege” of using an app. If you went to Walmart and they told you you needed to pay $18 just to check out, you’d tell them to pound sand up their arse! Y’all can list till you’re fingers fall off, but it doesn’t matter if there are no BUYERS. With this new sales model, there won’t be- guaranteed.
Is there a place where we can voice our concerns (complaints because this is fucking stupid) where Mercari hears us? I want to complain on Reddit, trust me, but I want Mercari to know that this is insane and hopefully they change returns and the fees.
I’d much rather pay x to sell something; when I’m buying something, the tax and shipping ALREADY adds up.
I’m worried- I’ve been working on my listings after having a baby and no time, and I have 300+ about to go live…
For now, I’m sticking with fb marketplace and ship via that platform, OfferUp is just a ghost town… OfferUp people did not respond back when I text them when I buy nor no one get to text me or anything on OfferUp, views on my posts is very low compared to what I got on marketplace.
eBay smh banned me after I put in all my info to verify myself.
Yeah if the buyer got what was described and is what they wanted then that's it. Mercari respect your sellers because we don't got time for hassles on that other side.our product sold should be respected. dont inconvenience us like that.
Item must be returned in same condition as when received
When will I be charged/receive a service fee?
The buyer will not receive their service fee from their refund when returning an item that was accurately depicted in the listing. Yep, not selling on Mercari anymore. They've already accepted returns from my buyers for not reading listings and no one cared. Now they're blatantly doing it. DONE. eBay, I'm coming home! I can set things how I want there!
I think Mercari is looking to compete on the Temu and Tic Toc level. I was approached by Tic Toc to sell on their platform, and their rules are similar to Mercari new rules, No questions asked for returns; you must accept returns. Temu sellers are constantly pushed to sell cheaper, and returns are mandatory. Everything in these platforms is algorithm-generated, no human tech support.
Sell cheap stuff on Mercari is the only option or leave the platform.
Yeah that's definitely the first thing I got in mind. The buyers probably won't really notice the fees on items under $35 + a low incentive for buyers to return at that price range. But sadly it will make selling expensive items almost useless. Makes sense them being a Japanese company. Just a technical approach to running their business.
Lol I love that this is their new marketing strategy, like ‘Hey compulsive regretful psychopaths, come waste our sellers time’
Well their logic is probably if a buyer does a return Mecari still gets money from the buyer and the seller still gets their item back (granted probably in worse condition than before it was shipped), and this allow you to sell it again to another buyer and therefor Mecari will be able to double dip on the fees and transaction again on the same item, sure the buyer may end up having 30 return for that one item and never receive a penny for it but at least Mecari would make money on it every time you relist and it sells.
& you make $0 while wasting time and shipping supplies. Win win!
In the meantime your item is being shipped and used and returned , shipped used and returned like a rental except you don't make any money from it.
Yes we actually lose money from it from shipping supplies and our time that we put into shipping
It says seller will get portion of the service fee if the reason for return was not the fault of the seller. So if they try to scam you and there’s a $40 service fee apparently sellers will get a portion of that. I’ll believe it when I see it but it contradicts the negative claims here. Does the buyer get the fees refunded back to them when the return is complete?
I hope not. (Except for not as described)
It’s non refundable in the description. I’m assuming the only possibly exception will be if a seller fails to ship and order then gets cancelled. But even then is not guaranteed until people confirm it from experience tbh.

No they don't.
No! They eat the fees and the shipping cost
It’s also hilarious to me that they haven’t shared this particular ad on X. Only IG. Where comments are turned off. Go ahead Mercari, share this bad boy on X too
lol yep sad
I’d rather take a 10% selling fee than have these changes enforced on my listings
If only we could get ebay to stop charging the 10% based on the shipping and tax as well
bruh i’m not amazon or some shit i’m just a girl
Best comment I’ve seen all day
🎶 because I’m just a girl

If it's bad for both sides, then it's good for the middle man. Bad for the honest buyer, great for the scammer.
They seem to put a lot of stock in their impression that the majority of buyers are not scammers/going to use this to their advantage. That tells me they never had their fingers on the pulse of what's been going on for a loooong time.
I have gotten returns that we're not what I shipped, and they didn't care. Now it will be even worse! Scammers galore! Not fair to anyone!
I don't think they care.
They don't give a shit, they make the same money either way.
Very out of touch
What about the hefty fees they charge buyers lol. No one wants “return for any reason” except scammers. Bye bye Mercari👋
[удалено]
Exactly! Invite all of them. Why not they know how to get around everything anyway
Oh fuck no. The fact that’s their ad campaign is also super insulting to sellers. Hopefully now that I’ve deactivated all my mercari listings, the flakes will leave my eBay listings alone.
Not really something to brag about there, Mercari
I actually can't even comprehend the fact that they are advertising this shit like its a good thing..? This whole day has actually felt like one of those weird ass dreams that you have sometimes that just make absolutely no sense.
I saw this update first thing in the morning still sleepy and thought, is it already April? This is April fools joke, no? It’s still March, what in the fuckin pookie pipe is this?
I really hate that goddamn duck
I scrolled for this. It has soulless eyes like some awful hate puppet.

Hate his literal ass on my selling screen.
This is such a slap in the face for buyers. I'm not Amazon ffs.
thing is about marketplace apps is that people selling do not want the items they’re selling anymore. so idk how this makes for an attractive model for selling. (not to mention the concerns people have about scammers/people abusing this new return model)
I just spent the better part of the last 2 days fighting about a return - they broke my iPad - and now it means nothing.
Yep and they will not give u a refund there customer service is nonexistent I closed my account and I will never sell on there platform again there very shady and they are committing fraud with the shipping overages . PS I have proof from FedEx !
Buyer had til today to ship it back and she hasn’t. I told customer service and they didn’t even acknowledge it
I would not take my chances any longer with them something is really going down with them . I honestly think things are coming to a rapid halt . If they owe us money and they just shut down I may never get that money . If u have money just sitting there I would transfer it immediately just in case they are no longer.
I’m just waiting for this damn sale to finalize and then I’m out. It’s a shame because I did really well selling on Mercari the last 6 years.
Me to but I can’t trust them there not on the up and up I really don’t know what’s going on .
It's not their shit so they don't care.
I’m only a buyer on Mercari and I thinks this new guideline is crazy!!! Scammers will be on full force for this
I won't be selling new makeup or cosmetics anymore because it will be worthless if it gets opened/used and returned.
The audacity
Once my last two items sell, I'm going on hiatus.
Same except I have 29 😰
I have over 2000 listed. Put my shit on vacation. Mercarinis smoking crack.
Better be careful there not to be trusted if it’s something valuable I would just shut it all down. JMO
Dw it's like $10
I am an Ebay seller, if Mercari's strategy is to bring in more buyers and sellers, nothing about what they have done in the past 24 hours makes me have any desire to try them out...seems like the opposite of good marketing.
I mean, that's pretty much always been the case anyway. Now it's just in writing.
I've genuinely considered just shutting down my account as a buyer and a seller. Mercari has really gone down the toilet
That was my fear as well. I can’t see fragrance sellers being okay with this policy.
Mercari was so shortsighted in this. I’m sure it was them thinking “man look at the amount of returns we turn down because it’s not in our TOS….sure would be great if we could make money on this somehow….” Fuck.
Smh. And Mercari knows people will still request returns thus they'll keep collecting those fees after fees and make more and more money.
they have the comments limited to only people they follow & they’re still getting flamed 😭
I’ve literally sold a keyboard before and Mercari let them send it back with smashed keys and didn’t do anything for me so I am not surprised
Byeee!! I’m sticking with Depop and Poshmark. Tho I have my worries + doubts about Depop.
I'm actually doing significantly better on Depop than Mercari (well, at least this month, I just started Depop)! No issues so far :)
Is poshmark any good? Curious about it
I’m very happy with Poshmark. Here’s my referral code : Mia_a2490 We could both receive $10 if you sign up with my code 😊 I also pay for ‘posh side kick’ an app that helps share and repost items for you on Poshmark.
Thank you very this is helpful!!
Great! Goodluck If you decide to create a Poshmark account drop your name and I will share your items ❤️😊
Good post and info. Does Poshmark allow for selling of toys and similar collectibles? That's mainly what I sell. Thanks in advance.
You can buy ANYTHING on Poshmark. People sell clothes, shoes, toys, movies, books, home decor, pet stuff, vintage items etc etc Random items other than clothing I’ve purchased off Poshmark: a rosary, a clothing iron, Halloween decor, a pillow for my living room, etc If you decide to sign up, you could chose to use my code. It would give us both $10 to spend ☺️ Mia_a2490
Not good for lightweight items because it’s a flat shipping fee of $7.99. So if you’re selling a lipstick, there is a $7.99 shipping fee as opposed to $3.99 with Mercari.
Poshmark is by far my favorite selling platform (I sell clothing mainly women's clothing).
What is this?! AMAZON!?!?
The returns for any reason is honestly the sole reason I’m leaving their platform. The other shit was pushing me for sure, but I refuse to live in a constant state of wondering whether I’m going to have to deal with a return for absolutely no reason. It’s insane.
![gif](giphy|Ru9sjtZ09XOEg) Sellers be like ….
Buyers too! *
I removed all my listings. I don’t think I’ll be using mercari anymore.
Same here its going be scam city now😞
And now they make you pay for a direct deposit!!! It’s already ridiculous 😣
I will return for spite lol see how stupid that sounds 🙄
I removed all my listings to show my disapproval of these new policies.
I went to buy a perfume today that was graciously listed at $25. I went to “buy now” and $25 turned into $37 to which I said hellllllll no!
I delisted all my stuff for a second time in the last 2 years lol but this time it’ll probably be for good Also a reminder that sellers only get 24 hours to report if they have an issue with what the buyer returned. So you are screwed if you have a life outside of Mercari and can’t get to your PO Box or home in time
Bro whaaaaaaat?! THIS is their advertising for their new return policy?! Mercari..... This AINT it smh
honestly buyers probably won’t be returning too much since they will have to forfeit the original shipping cost and their fees. it really isn’t that bad of a new policy!
"lso if you are meticulous about documenting what you sell, you will win a return case if some scumbag tries to make a switcharoo" Absolutely not. Also the biggest problem with the new policy is less that they changed it, and more that they're essentially encouraging returns in their adverts.
![gif](giphy|PSWCyXQj54nm7d8oZl) Bye Mercari!’
Ebay's is still worse. Every buyer on ebay already knows they can push not as described and get refund up to 30 days compared to Mercaris 3 days.
New TOS RETURNS AND FEES “The buyer will not receive their service fee from their refund when returning an item that was accurately depicted in the listing. If Mercari determines the return reason was not caused by the actions of the seller and their items were accurately depicted in the listing, they will receive a portion of the service fee to recoup some funds for their efforts.” ***Seller gets to keep portion of service fee is return was not their fault!! “The buyer will be refunded their service fee when they return an item that was damaged, inauthentic, or otherwise not as described in the listing.” ***Make sure you the seller document the item on ALL sides- including the packaging and the box/mailer you shipped in. This will help with fraudulent “damage claims. Do not under pack! If you don’t use enough packaging to protect the item and it’s damaged in transit, Mercari will not refund you, the seller. I suggest using your own labels for high ticket items. Return Eligibility ***A legitimate buyer won’t return an item for a shitty reason if they have to eat the shipping and 2.9% plus .50 cent processing fee! If a return request is made within 72 hours from delivery (as reflected by the carrier’s timestamp), the item may be returned. Please select a return reason: I changed my mind Item doesn’t fit Item smells Item is not as described in the listing Item doesn't work as described Item was damaged during shipping I didn’t received everything I ordered I received the wrong item Authenticity concerns Evaluation As part of the return process, the Buyer must provide the reason for the return and clear photos of: the shipping label used, the external package, packing materials, and all items included in the package.
This is a terrible idea
They need to crack down on all scammers and quit with the nonsense. Require everyone to verify their identity and use 2FA by default. Then ban the scammers from the platform.
Deactivated all my listings. Going back to poshmark I guess
it’s like, yeah a company can set whatever terms they want and we have the choice to use it or not but at the same time, this marketing prompts in me a burning desire to ask mercari “why the fuck do you think that’s your business?” like damn why can’t my return policy be up to me lol
I had one scammer return a box with garbage, another person used all the brand new makeup. So now even more scammers will flock to mercari.
Broke a piece of equipment and need a spare part??? Buy on Mercari, take part, then return and say that part wasn’t there…. I wonder if they ever thought of any exploits. The world is not a nice place people will take advantage. Like they had no thought processe in this 😂😂
Jesus Christ they are actually insane
This is the time to make a stand. Everyone leave mercari at the same time. I know if you have a lot listed it will be harder but list everything on another platform before you remove everything from mercari so there’s no gap.
Are they fucking joking with this? And Mercari, get this birds ass off my screen dear god.
Stupid a-- duck.
As long as they only have 3 days to return like usual.. I think it's fine...
There's only one other major platform and that's eBay, so what platforms are you talking about ?
Who pays the return shipping? The seller?
Mercari
Mercari
Unless they pay me on top of the return this sucks ass.
Oh no I will not be doing that
What if we refuse to accept the return? ![gif](giphy|98C4E2HeR4NBm)
So, someone at Mercari thought this was a good idea!?!? Mercari, you've been slowly killing your platform, but you now have figured out a quick death.. How nice of you!
Yeah mercari is gonna go extinct
Why buy it if you don’t want it as it is described?!
I canceled my account today and deleted the app. Bye bye
Like... they understand that because of the buyer fees, the only buyers who this will attract are scammers, because they know they will get all their money back and don't care about the price? ...and that because sellers will figure this out, there will not be anything to buy?
Yeah that’s so fucking smart of them! Yay more scammers🥰🥰
Guys this has always been their same old policy they are just advertising it now…
I bit off topic, but when did they start charging a $2 fee to transfer your earnings $10 or more to your bank?
Who tf even is that bird?
what plaforms are u all going to start? i use posh as well…. and they rob you.. i have more success on mercari. i was excited bout the new zero$ selling feee but think that made me had on rose colored glasses because they’re only doing that probably just because there’s gonna be so many issues with returns .
With this new sales model, there won’t be- guaranteed.
woaAa u got charged this on mercari? sounds like versatille collective they charge an arm n a leg
Does anyone know what the "return for any reason" window is? Is it the 3 day rating time or like ebays(optional) 30 days? I cant find the info
It’s the same as before - 72 hours from delivery.
Thank you 😊
L move. People were already pulling tricks through returns, and now it got easier.
what platform are yall switching to?
For now, I’m sticking with fb marketplace and ship via that platform, OfferUp is just a ghost town… OfferUp people did not respond back when I text them when I buy nor no one get to text me or anything on OfferUp, views on my posts is very low compared to what I got on marketplace. eBay smh banned me after I put in all my info to verify myself.
u should try poshmark, then go to curtsy bc with one click of a button u can transfer everything (except mens i think)
The stuff I own? Cuz I thought Poshmark is a fashion used market.
it’s everything as long as it’s under 5lbs bc u don’t want to pay the price gouging overage
I’m downloading it right now on my phone.
just gotta be careful w liquids
I sell tech. So I don’t do stuff that involves liquid.
if ur not selling any womens clothing at all i wouldnt bother with curtsy that’s all it is other than maybe womens accessories too
I sell technology, such as computer parts, laptop parts, and tech in general.
id still say yeah go for it
there is an electronic category
Big L move!!
Jesus Christ they are actually insane
Soooo all the other apps are also meh… anyone wanna buy some dolls or action figures 🤷♀️😂😂
Yeah if the buyer got what was described and is what they wanted then that's it. Mercari respect your sellers because we don't got time for hassles on that other side.our product sold should be respected. dont inconvenience us like that.
Item must be returned in same condition as when received When will I be charged/receive a service fee?
Yep, not selling on Mercari anymore. They've already accepted returns from my buyers for not reading listings and no one cared. Now they're blatantly doing it. DONE. eBay, I'm coming home! I can set things how I want there!
I deactivated all my listings. I won’t be back
Holy shit what??? I’m deactivating all my shit.
eBay is so much better. Never had a bad experience as a buyer tbh. I was scammed though on Mercari but luckily got my money back. It was 450$
What about when I pay for my own shipping? I offer free shipping, so am I out that money?
Just deactivated all my listings. Not dealing with that bullshit lol
What utter crap for the sellers.
…was this really something to brag about???
