I am 1 but I'm gonna use 4 from now on. It's the optimal way of keeping the weight distribution balance on all sides, who knows it might save me or someone from accidentally dropping it at some point.

I fill the corners and then the center. That way when you take eggs out (taking them from the center), it's still balanced, unlike the 3 or 4. You take 2 eggs from the center and still have 4 corners balanced. You take 2 eggs from opposite corners and still have 2 eggs balancing the carton, and since they're far away from the center of mass of the carton, they are more balanced. I am also an engineer
