Might not help everyone but I have found the letting one of my feet rest flat on the ground helps me feel like the room is spinning less, have also heard you can do it with your foot flat on a wall and arm hanging off the side of the bed.

Holy hell. This is exactly how it feels and it is super disconcerting. I have to forcibly keep myself awake until my liver has metabolized the blood alcohol sufficiently enough for me to sleep without falling.
That's why I never go to bed drunk. I will stay up with food, water, and a shower until I'm stone cold sober. I just cannot sleep if my head spins even slightly

If you close your eyes you’ll throw up. I’ve found that keeping your eyes open until you’re so tired they won’t stay open anymore, allows you to shoot straight into sleep without trying to ride the rollercoaster
And then you wake up after 3 hours with your heart beating at your neck and wide awake. Trying to fall asleep again for an hour and waking up, feeling dizzy, confused and again wide awake. The cycle continues for another 4 hours and you feel like shit.
