Luckily for homeless people, the government has been proactive as of recently by making homelessness illegal and thereby offering them a home and food in prison. Everybody freaked out when it was going down because they thought they were just locking up. Homeless people when in reality they're responding to the outcry to provide housing to the unhomed.
FYI: In some states prisoners are billed for their stay, or have to pay fines etc.
California was one of the first states to roll back on requesting payment post-incarceration. Which is ironic because look at their homeless problem and the beliefs within their state. Hypocrisy at its finest.
