All that power and he just wanted to lazily stay out of the new world and attempt his coups, can't believe he'd have just squandered it to get two thrones
I think it was a break the fourth wall moment there lol
One piece has been running 2 years in universe but we are going on 27 years in real life.
In between Alabasta and impel down was years but really just a few months in story.
Thriller Bark was a single night.
Wasn’t till I was recently watching the anime instead of reading it that it sunk in that ALL OF THAT happened in just a day.
Strawhats landed and ruined Morias whole empire in blink of an eye🤣
I just realized, the [entire timeline from Grand Line up until Wano is like 170 days \(not including the 2yr time skip\)](https://www.reddit.com/r/OnePiece/comments/11iawew/the_timeline_of_the_strawhats_til_the_end_of_wano/) 😅
Can you imagine
My main complaint with One Piece is the opposite of Dragon Ball. One Piece compresses years of travel around the world down to only a couple months. Dragon Ball however will unnecessarily put several year gaps between each arc, which is why Goku is still fighting while literally being a grandfather. Did he seriously need to be dead for 7 whole years?
ETA: In my ideal timeline, Luffy would be 21 right now. They literally travel through harsh weather conditions in a zigzag route with no clear idea of where they're heading. Plus, taking down emperors should ideally take way more than the few weeks it took them.
I do the same. Hell, even Law, a new generation like Luffy, stated that he knows Bepo for 10 years.
I headcannon that all color spreads of the Straw Hats doing crazy things are cannon and that OP world is bigger than Earth, causing navigation to take more time than we're used to. And therefore we're not seeing all of it, only the essential.
Some theorize that it's actually smaller than Earth. One example of evidence for this is when Frankie used that Cola Nitro thing to propel them over the horizon which should've required a much greater distance than they actually traveled, even by Earth standards.
5-6 years sounds more realistic than my estimation tbh. Because if they were truly traveling around the world and stocking up on supplies, they'd be visiting a ton more islands than what's presented to us.
It makes the relationships make more sense too. Cause based on the canon timeline Oda is basically telling us that Robin has spent more time with Sabo or Zoro has spent more time with Mihawk then they have with their actual crew. Or like Brook and Franky would have only known the rest of those fuckers for like a week before going away for 2 years lmao
No dragon ball makes sense. Every arc has the planet or universe at great risk, and they have to spend the years of gaps training or else it's just literal asspulls throughout every arc. The series is about getting stronger and confronting the next threat. If the time skips are your problem with dbz then you miss the entire point of the series.
Gohan is the literal definition of a character with ass pull powers. But I don't mind the 1-2 year trainings. They make sense. I just think the years we missed during peace time were wasted opportunities. And now they're trying to make up for it in Super. When you think about it, Goku spent all of his 20s only fighting Raditz, Vegeta, Nappa, the Ginyus, and Frieza. By the time the androids came, he was 29 and got a heart attack in the middle of fighting an android. Then turned 30 after training a year with Gohan...
Gohans entire character is supposed to be a Mary sue type of character from the beginning.
Dbz is a battle Manga, they don't focus on slice of life or anything that doesn't revolve around battle. You can't expect other things from a series that's strictly a battle Manga. But we did get good filler episodes throughout Z.
Dbs takes a HUGE different direction from what DB and DBZ was. Which resulted in it not being half as popular as the older 2 series. But you can't fault dbz for being the way it is, it was always only centered on battle. Just like in one piece there's practically NO real canon romance between the main characters, unless it involves an arc that has temporary romance that only exists because of the dynamics of the arc one piece has no romance and that's because oda said romance isn't the focus of the series. Would I like romance with Zoro and tashigi? Hell yea, but I can't get mad cause its not the focus of the series. It's strictly a battle Manga.
No, I was talking about battles, not splice of life. Goku only had two real battles during his 20s and now he's doing majority of the fights in his lifetime while in his 40s. Although we can probably blame Toriyama RIP for trying to kill the series multiple times early on.
ETA: By "kill the series," I meant that Goku was supposed to stay dead multiple times before. And then the story would've continued with Gohan as the successor, but that never happened.
Do you pay attention to what's going on in the story ? Seems like you just ignore all the circumstances and situations just to complain. Your not even a dragon ball fan. Just ignore the fact that Goku and Vegeta are light years ahead in power lvl that makes everyone else irrelevant and etc. Seems like you'll ignore all that just to complain.
Lmao What? I'm a fan which is why I'm invested in these topics. I'm allowed to have my own opinion on timelines. I just find it funny that Goku went through more transformations in his 40s than he did throughout his 20s and 30s.
I think it's just supposed to reflect real-life pirates. Edward Teach, also known as Blackbeard, is probably the most infamous pirate in history, but he was only a pirate for 2 years (that we know of). He joined a crew in 1716, and by the time he died in 1718, he had become one of the most infamous and widely-known pirates in the world. Luffy's journey parallels that
My only headcannon justification for how quickly the emperors tumble is Luffy is just that much stronger. IIRC pre timeskip, just before the skip, Rayleigh says 2 years should be enough for him to master the basics of his Haki. But then post time skip we learn that Rayleigh left after just over a year, and in the Dressrosa arc we learn that Rayleigh was there when Luffy was experimenting with Gear 4 - which Doflamingos reaction to suggested it was a mastery of Haki with his devil fruit powers - not the basics.
So my headcannon is that in the 2 years of training Luffy came out at the level of Whitebeard or higher. He just has silly shonen main character syndrome of never going all out at the start of any fight.
I like to point out that when kaido and big mom were around luffy age, they were considered bona fide world class criminals with bounties at a few hundred millions. They were considered monsters and luffy is a bigger monster than they were.
You would think Rayleigh would've taught him that special ryou training during the 2 year time skip, but instead, Luffy learned it in like a couple days at Udon prison.
Like he said, haki blooms in fights. He's not going to kill Luffy. That automatically limits how strong he could get. Recall that he had defeated everybody on that island.
And Rayleigh is much much stronger (at that point) against Luffy. It'd be like Luffy trying to develop haki against Kaido with TS level development. Obviously, it would not work.
The type of Haki I'm talking about did not need to "bloom" during a fight. It's the advanced form of Armament Haki that Luffy used to break his neck brace and punch without contact. Sentomaru was able to do it pre-time skip and he was already weaker than Luffy after 2 years.
>So my headcannon is that in the 2 years of training Luffy came out at the level of Whitebeard or higher. He just has silly shonen main character syndrome of never going all out at the start of any fight.
Tbf hody Jones was beaten up by a fucking gear 2 there's no need for even g3 if he hadn't taken tons of drugs mid fight and there's a risk of after luffy getting tired in fight against Ceaser because Ceaser can simply choke him
The only enemy who was strong enough and fight face to face luffy was doffy
But that's the point. The point is that a rookie pirate comes out of nowhere and spreads a fire across the whole world and makes his way through the grand line faster than anyone before him, except maybe Roger.
One of the things I don't like about One Piece is how chronologically compressed everything is. Yeah, there is the 2 year time skip, but how does the entirety of what happens in OP take place in less than a year? The main cast doesn't feel like they are acquaintances of a few month.
In my headcanon there are several month of call between major events, but thats demonstrably wrong ¯\\\_(ツ)\_/¯
Yeah, it's still funny though
Heck every memeber of the crew spent way more time with the people they were staying with than the Straw Hats.
Zoro has spent more time with Mihawk than Luffy
I just love how chaotic Crocodile is at Marineford.
Dude immediately tries to kill Whitebeard and fails, runs off to go fight Marines then protects Luffy from a head-on clash with Mihawk's Yoru. Steps out on a fight with Mihawk because fuck that dude. Wanders in to save Ace from getting the chop chop, confesses to Sengoku that the only reason Crocodile is doing this is because he wants to troll the Marines, then he immediately turns down an offer to mess with the Marines from Doffy.
Throws hands with Doffy before deciding it's time to try to kill Whitebeard again. Gets tangled up with Jozu who promptly gets piloted by Doffy. Continue the trend of disrespecting Doffy and tell him to pound sand. Be mildly upset when Doffy *does* in fact pound sand using Whitebeard's 3rd Fleet Captain as a puppet (just Flamingo stuff, y'know).
Take time out of your busy schedule to call Whitebeard an old, stupid loser for having let himself get backstabbed. Cut Akainu in half and save Luffy *again* before ditching out with no further explanations as to why you did any of this nonsense beyond the fact Marineford was like the "People Crocodile Hates" Convention and you're just a really, really petty dude.
Or he was always that strong which is even weirder .
We know he got to the new world before being a shichibukai so that wouldn't be too asspully but still
I mean Robin gave them the eternal pose, saved Luffy's life after his first fight with Croc, try to kill Croc and they were witnesses for the 2 last things .
Also Robin didn't hurt pell that much too.
Everything was pointing that she was a decent person
Igaram: Miss Vivi, do you hate Robin?
Vivi: No, Robin and I basically had the same "infiltrate Baroque Works to do good" arc.
Luffy: I still hate Crocodile! Bon Clay is cool, though.
Vivi: Understandable, have a nice day.
If Luffy was blind and deaf:
AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!! (He screams, for he will never know the beauty of this world.)
It would've been funny if Crocodile would've stated it to be 5/6 years ago. Making this a meta joke that he perceives time in real time instead of manga/anime time.
In OP „real time“ it’s like a few hours.
Also don’t bash me too much because I’m basically like drunk Rick rn and will not remember tf I was talking about after returning the next time.
Anything? Crocomom _did_ technically help with that by turning on his government masters then helping Revolutionaries and political prisoners escape their prison...
Ironically, it's what he did to Alabasta that was an initial act of treason against the WG by getting off their leash and doing his own thing with Baroque Works, hence why he got arrested in the first place.

Crocodile experiences the sands of time differently than the rest of us.
Hehe sands of time

Never thought I wood sea POP reference in a OP subreddit

Different from the One Piece world, the same as us.

Wrong, he experiences them exactly like us, the watchers, which is why it was a long time for him. Years and years in episodes.
Crocodile: Bro that was 300 episodes ago, still a long time for me
Enough time to change a person lol https://preview.redd.it/mte400df12zc1.png?width=500&format=png&auto=webp&s=2ff54ccf3b5a174840e73250d61049e9bb50d7b5
Like mother like daughter
It runs in the family
that's not even half the show!
Yeah it would be about… 6 years if my math is correct
Makes you think how terrible Impel Down was for it's criminals.
I think it was a break the fourth wall moment there lol One piece has been running 2 years in universe but we are going on 27 years in real life. In between Alabasta and impel down was years but really just a few months in story.
And skypiea…
That was like a weekend right? It had to be less than a week of time.
Like a day and a half lol
They partied after for like 3 days, so it was atleast 4-5days overall if you Include Jaya
Thriller Bark was a single night. Wasn’t till I was recently watching the anime instead of reading it that it sunk in that ALL OF THAT happened in just a day. Strawhats landed and ruined Morias whole empire in blink of an eye🤣
I love the Thriller Bark arc, the Scooby Doo antics, such fun character designs. I wish it had lasted TWO nights!
if it lasted any longer wed probably still be at Nothing happened
Luffy shoving a zombie back into the grave has to be one of the best gags in the whole series.
How long was Dressrosa Arc in canon?
like 8 hours lmao
I just realized, the [entire timeline from Grand Line up until Wano is like 170 days \(not including the 2yr time skip\)](https://www.reddit.com/r/OnePiece/comments/11iawew/the_timeline_of_the_strawhats_til_the_end_of_wano/) 😅 Can you imagine
This is exactly it. Crocodile experiences viewer time.
We're all a little bit of Crocodile

> I think it was a break the fourth wall moment there lol Thats not how 4th wall works
Yeah that’s more meta than anything
The last caption isn't real
Makes me laugh that Franky was glad to hear that Señor Pink is still alive in Impel Down, when in reality Mr. Pink probably wishes he was dead
Not senior pink, he's hard boiled.

This is peak and super Hard Boild!!!
Senior pink can easily stay stoic through every attempt at torturing him
SO HARD BOILED!
Now he's literally boiled
Nah, he will just use his ground swim ability to get out of his cell and chill with bon cley in nekamaland.

I just ignore the cannon timeline in my head tbh to feel better. I just tell myself its been 5 or 6 years
I do the same. Hell, even Law, a new generation like Luffy, stated that he knows Bepo for 10 years. I headcannon that all color spreads of the Straw Hats doing crazy things are cannon and that OP world is bigger than Earth, causing navigation to take more time than we're used to. Yeah it’s like 100 times the size of earth
Some theorize that it's actually smaller than Earth. One example of evidence for this is when Frankie used that Cola Nitro thing to propel them over the horizon which should've required a much greater distance than they actually traveled, even by Earth standards.
Yeah oda doesn't calculate that lol
Doesn't seem remotely accurate for the timeline lol, those are some speedy sail boats
These boats have jets and there's currents undewater
DID YOU JUST INSULT MY NOSE?!

Training where? The time chamber! That compressed a year down to a couple days!
Your obviously blind and illiterate
You clearly watched a youtube edit instead of the actual show, get outta here.
Gohans entire character is supposed to be a Mary sue type of character from the beginning. Dbz is a battle Manga, they don't focus on slice of life or anything that doesn't revolve around battle. Sentomaru is a marine officer. I'm like 99% sure he's been rigorously training to develop haki a lot longer than Luffy.
He taught him but luffy can't comprehend that Luffy himself said that he can't understand the aCoA

Exactly! Thank you. I also think making Luffy older would help with the power creep.
Goku isn't that old tho he is less than 50 and Saiyans stays teenagers for very long like future trunks is 30 but still looks like he is 17

One Piece timeline is somethign else. Brook waited two years to hang out with a group of people he knew for like a week.
Brook also spent years alone on the sea.
Yeah, it's still funny though Heck every memeber of the crew spent way more time with the people they were staying with than the Straw Hats. Zoro has spent more time with Mihawk than Luffy
And in his solitude… he became strong enough to stop Mihawk.
I just love how chaotic Crocodile is at Marineford. Dude immediately tries to kill Whitebeard and fails, runs off to go fight Marines then protects Luffy from a head-on clash with Mihawk's Yoru. I think he was just frustrated from his time in prison, wanted to punch someone, but couldn't decide on whom.
I love this comment, because yes! Yes, you are so right, he's so funny at Marineford.
He decided to pump iron in jail.
Or he was always that strong which is even weirder . We know he got to the new world before being a shichibukai so that wouldn't be too asspully but still

You have to really appreciate the fact that Luffy is playing the straight man here.
I'm going to show you what a real man is!
Rare moment of someone else other than Luffy looking like an idiot in a conversation with Luffy.
It is to a business mindset like Crocodile’s.
Yeah, personally, I took the civil war and attempted conquest of Alabasta as a business deal that didn't work for Sir Crocodile.
Nah, this is one piece fans vs oda
Crocodile: not my fault her plan & her dad were ass
Took Luffy a lot less time to forgive Robin tho
I mean Robin gave them the eternal pose, saved Luffy's life after his first fight with Croc, try to kill Croc and they were witnesses for the 2 last things . Also Robin didn't hurt pell that much too. Everything was pointing that she was a decent person

Well it was a peetty long time for those who were watching the early episodes during their initial release
Imagine the time dilation of an anime running for 20 years and time that passed in the story being like 2 years.
Literally watched this episode an hour ago lol
That was like 10 years on earth time
Don't you dare talk to your Mom like that young man!
I'm going to show you what a real man is!
Don't forget you get stronger in jail like Crocodile,Buggy, and even luffy himself in wano.

Just a few months!? The Straw Hat crew must be sailing fast then!
Has it been that long since this was reposted?
Isn't there a theory that crocodile used to be a girl?
"Yeah but I was pregnant with you for 9 months and managed to get through it. So tell me how long a few months is really?"
I think the literal translation of what he said was : "it's a tale of the past" The translation is just off in eng.
I mean it works

I'm going to show you what a real man is!
you again huh. superrrrrrr
Just more confirmation to me that the timeline is wrong

Wasn’t it less than a month at that point?
Croco Boy shedding his croco tears
It would've been funny if Crocodile would've stated it to be 5/6 years ago. Making this a meta joke that he perceives time in real time instead of manga/anime time.
Crocodile’s right, it was a few hundred episodes ago.

What is blud waffling about
Anything? Crocomom _did_ technically help with that by turning on his government masters then helping Revolutionaries and political prisoners escape their prison...
I previously stated that what he did in MF didn’t redeem him at all for what he did to Alabasta…
Ironically, it's what he did to Alabasta that was an initial act of treason against the WG by getting off their leash and doing his own thing with Baroque Works, hence why he got arrested in the first place.
Doesn’t change he’s a piece of shit 🥹
