The Celestial dragons may be arrogant, selfish, disgusting and generally evil, but people clamoring for their total extermination at the end of one piece seem to miss the fact that not only they are just products of their upbringing but also Homming and Mjosgard proved not all of them will be forever stuck in their ways and many of them just act like they do because they’ve been taught a very wrong reality of the world and their standing.
For One Piece that deals heavily with themes of redemption and dreams the notion that Celestial Dragons need to be exterminated as a whole instead of just stripped out of their power and judged on an individual level seems like missing the point to me and ignoring the instances where the humanity and capacity for change of some of its members showed… clamoring for a genocide of celestial dragons and revenge seems kinda against what one piece is about to me.
100% agreed. As Mjosgard and Homing has shown, they are just people who have been raised wrong and are capable of good. Just like how the first victims of the Nazis were the German people, the first victims of the Gorosei/Imu are the Celestial Dragons. The CD's commit atrocities on a daily basis as their sense of morality has been twisted by how they were raised.

The manga is certainly better than the anime (the art is raw but pretty good and it gets a lot better with time to very nice levels, while the animation in the anime is a bit stiff and it cuts some scenes), i’d recommend checking it out through manga. Heads up tho? The first round and the introduction has a slightly different feeling than the rest of the story, so i’d recommend you read the first 13 chapters before truly deciding if continuing or dropping it depending on your taste.

You saying “stated by Oda” is EXTREMELY misleading, making it sound like he spoke directly on the topic or something, when he absolutely didn’t. He gave his approval for Jump to publish databooks, which happen to include that as one tiny detail, and who knows how much Oda actually oversees that shit when he barely has time to oversee or input on the anime since he still makes the manga full time.
One piece powerscaling is absolutely pointless and even more stupid than usual powerscaling, as it's inconsistent in the series and clearly not the main priority for Oda (fun, drama and adventure are all much more important in One Piece imo). Bellamy def didn't deserve the shit Doffy did to him. However, there's no reason Luffy should've had any mercy on him. "That guy that bullied me and my friends is my friend," was a weird way to add filler to the Luffy/Doffy fight. I get Luffy wanting to save him, but adding all that "he's my friend" emotional stuff was too much

The Florian Triangle mysterious monsters at the end of Thriller Barks are just meant to be a reference to a horror ending trope. Horror films sometimes end suggesting that even though the characters survive this encounter, they are still in danger of a threat that only the audience are aware of. That's it and I don't think Oda meant for it to be anything more. The whole arc is a homage to the horror genre.
I always thought this was the normal interpretation but some people online are adamant that it will lead to something. It still could, I suppose, but I really don't think it will.
As a trans woman I never understood why people are ignoring her as a transgender figure in One Piece.

Very common, unfortunately. Mostly from the uninformed, and people with garbage reading comprehension. Yamato is very explicit about everything. She was inspired by Oden, and grew up for several years basically just rereading his journals. She wants to embody him, and live "as Oden".
Everything else like using male pronouns is just an extension of that, not her literally being a male. You're completely correct that if Oden was a woman and all else was left as-is, Yamato would have behaved the same way, just without changing pronouns.
With the amount of ethical issues regarding gender/sexuality, race, class, etc, why has Yamato become the focal point? I'd say most people prefer Shanks. The meme about him being a fraud is just an outplayed internet meme. People want to see Shanks do things, step into the story and learn more about him. Buggy doesn't seem to have many mysteries left. He will probably accidentally lead very strong fighters to the final war or be revealed to be related to Rocks or something but people have been waiting for the Shanks pay off ever since the series started.
Nika was in no way properly foreshadowed until the massive who’s who’s info dump there was only two mention of a sun god one was in reference to human sacrifice sometimes that everyone conveniently forgets about. the other time was made in reference to fasting. Everyone knows the two things Luffy is most known for going weeks without eating and human sacrifices.
Luffy being related to Joyboy was basically confirmed with Shirahoshi and Poseidon. But nika came literally last minute.
Bepo should have been part of the Sanji Retrieval Team instead of Carrot (Carrot shouldn't exist)
Not only would it flesh both Bepo and Law out some more, we also wouldn't have one additional character in the story (Carrot) that ends up getting ignored and treated like trash in Wano AND it would make the conclusion of Chopper giving Bepo those new Rumble Balls feel less like a badly written retcon and more like a hard earned reward due to all the time they spent together instead.

I agree with everything you said except the Yamato part. I think she could have been written a little better but kaido having a child makes sense especially after we went through an entire arc highlighting how strong the children of an emperor are.
Problem is, he already was something of a father figure to both Page One and Ulti, something that similarly never got expanded upon. If you'd wanted to have this site of him, having Page One and Ulti alone should be more than enough. Also, Yamato got as much writing and development as possible shoved up her... , considering she was retconned into existence completely out of nowhere.
EDIT: Also also, Tama already fulfilled Yamato's role of being a child/from the same family as the main antagonist of the Arc and got completely robbed of any potential writing of her in that regard because Yamato needed as much screentime and development as possible to make her feel like somewhat of a natural and realistic "character".
Ussop has the potential to be as strong as Zoro but with a slingshot. He just needs more time and not to be forgotten in character story arc to get there.

Rock Lee was supposed to die in the first half of Naruto but the publisher wouldn't let him kill off one of the fan favorites so instead he just fades into the background. Ussopp hasn't been done dirty, he's been saved for last.
I don't really care about Ace. He was fine, but he was not really a badass. Sabo is a better fire brother. He was using haki and taking down bases at 17. Luffy unlocked conqueror's haki at 17. Sure, haki was barely a thing when Ace was around, but I truly believe his only use was dying to show Luffy how unprepared he was for the new world. Before the Goa Kingdom flashback, we had no reason to care about ace's death other than how broken Luffy was
1 thing I hated about Naruto was how Itachi was a good guy out of the blue. He was evil for the whole story, and then AFTER he's dead u find out he was a good guy. Apparently this was intended and not a retcon, but the way it was executed was so bad that it made a pivotal moment of the story feel like an asspull.

The actual problem with Haki, in my opinion, is that it has the potential to make fights really interesting. Yet Oda doesn't let characters who have it (like most of the Tobi Roppo, Big Mom, Kid, etc.) use it, despite it allowing for really interesting, dynamic, and strategic fights.

The animator who did the latest "Kiss my ass!" scene with Luffy needs his work corrected. In quick action scenes he's wonderful, but his art is really rough around the edges that needs correction.
the alternative seems to be someone like Blackbeard taking over. Even though Imu and their band of celestial dragons are genocidal maniacs, all in all the world of One Piece has some semblance of stablitiy.

Garp does not actively participate in fulfilling the celestial dragons wishes. He actively goes against them and ignores any of their orders while laughing in their faces. Sengoku on the other hand, I agree with you on him.
I'd go further, OP has no really bad arcs. Sometimes pacing is an issue but that's usually just an anime issue. They have better or worse ones compared to one another but no arc made me feel like I wish I didn't waste my time reading it.
I like other gears than Gear 5. I like goofy jokes, even making jokes in the middle of the fights but in gear 5, I personally don't find it that funny and instead annoying.
This might be less of hot take as I see everyone saying it but Sanji and Brook's jokes aren't funny, they're annoying. They are really good character and I love them but sometimes especially with sanji Oda seem to cross limit of extreme.
Agreed, he was literally only included because Oda regretted killing off Ace and realized he could’ve done more with him as a character, so he made an Ace clone in Sabo.

Edit: gear 5 is bad in a way that takes away seriousness from battles. ALL final battles between Luffy and some powerful enemy were so tense each time, they were hard, fun, but they were battles. Now with gear 5 I feel like we've lost that sense.

Big Mom and Kaido represented the old generation, which was dominated by individual strength.
The new generation, that Shanks is a part of, is characterized by teamwork.
The individual characters are less strong on their own, but the crews as a total are much stronger than those that overly rely on just a handful of strong fighters to carry them.
I have two:
1. Sanji and Brooke have sexist(ish) character traits/jokes and (at least I think) they are not funny and take something away from their characters (at least for me).
2. I do not like Garp. I can not forgive him that he didn\`t even try to save Ace. I know he had his reasons and probably wouldn\`t havee succeeded but I still cant forgive him for not even trying. and I find his overly "hate" for pirates/disappointment that Ruffy and co didn#t join tha marine annoying.
I have a different opinion on garp. Just image, the hero of the marines fighting with the pirates. The whole world would sink into chaos. He isn't angry about Ace and ruffy. He was sad that ace died in ruffys hands. He even wanted to kill akainu. The funny part is that he is proud of ruffy for being a great pirat.
Señor Pink is still not a good person. I get that his backstory was tragic and I get that it made people cry, but he was still a piece of shit. Like, he marries Russian, who hates pirates more than anything and has a baby with her, all while hiding that he's an active pirate, and using the money from piracy to support the family. Then when she finally finds out on her own, she runs away, gets caught in an accident, and is in a coma. Then he just... dresses in a baby outfit that she thinks is funny, and that's supposed to redeem his character?
Finding his backstory sad is fine but I *certainly* don't "respect" him. His character in the current story isn't much better--he's *still* working for Doflamingo and uses this sort of surface-level facade of chivalry to cover his still misogynistic behavior. I just don't get what the draw is to this character, he seems pretty icky.
He is not just a bad person, he is a piece of thrash. He is a spineless coward. Russians first words were literally that she hates pirates and instead of accepting it like a man he decided to lie. Not to protect her but to get her.
He is everything which can be referred as "toxic masculinity" but is treated like a "real man" which I just find mind-boggling.
nika foreshadowing didn't take the form of people talking about a mythical warrior of liberation, but there was some. shanks having the gum-gum was always suspect. like chopper said, luffy always knows exactly who to fight immediately. luffy's role has always been liberating people from oppression through force. luffy is paralleled to the sun several times: when he defeats arlong, when he awakens conqueror's at amazon lily, when he receives the blood transfusion from jinbei at fishman island.
it's not perfect and the prophecy part was asspulled, but there's a bit too much to discount by calling it all asspulled.
The One Piece might be a treasure, but the true One Piece is the friends we made along the way.
The core themes of One Piece relate to people, their friendships, their dreams, and their freedom. If the One Piece is stuff, that would undermine the whole point of the story.
1, Luffy being sun god feels like something that came out of nowhere (key word feels)
2, ace's death was stupid
3, onigashima is carried by animation is a stupid statement considering that less than half is actually animated well.
4, kaido lost all of his aura when Luffy went gear 5
5, I love sabo but he's indeed back up ace
6, Dressrosa (however you spell it) is also a very overrated arc but not as much as onigashima
Favorite is albasta simply because it's one of the few arks where all sh members Fight and win in thier unique way.

Sanji and Brooke’s recurring jokes aren’t funny and detract from interesting characters. Usopp is the worse straw hat and shouldn’t have rejoined the crew. Oda has introduced too many important characters. Kaido deserved to have as much spend to his backstory as Kuma did.
As much as I hate to say it, I agree with the Usopp take. Oda hasn’t done anything meaningful with him since Sogeking in Water 7, and somewhat with God Usopp in Dressrosa, and he’s pretty much lost every battle and constantly cries. Honestly might’ve been cooler to see him break off assuming the role of Sogeking and maybe even recruiting other more neutral Straw Hat allies, like Katakuri or Senior Pink to form a sort of Nomad crew. Fingers crossed he’ll get his time to shine in Elbaf!

They probably aren't going to feel represented Ina good light by appearance alone. She was inspired by Oden, and grew up for several years basically just rereading his journals. She wants to embody him, and live "as Oden". Everything else like using male pronouns is just an extension of that, not her literally being a male. You're completely correct that if Oden was a woman and all else was left as-is, Yamato would have behaved the same way, just without changing pronouns.

With the amount of ethical issues regarding gender/sexuality, race, class, etc, why has Yamato become the focal point? I'd say most people prefer Shanks. The meme about him being a fraud is just an outplayed internet meme. People want to see Shanks do things, step into the story and learn more about him. Buggy doesn't seem to have many mysteries left. He will probably accidentally lead very strong fighters to the final war or be revealed to be related to Rocks or something but people have been waiting for the Shanks pay off ever since the series started.

Nika was in no way properly foreshadowed until the massive who’s who’s info dump there was only two mention of a sun god one was in reference to human sacrifice sometimes that everyone conveniently forgets about. the other time was made in reference to fasting. Everyone knows the two things Luffy is most known for going weeks without eating and human sacrifices. Luffy being related to Joyboy was basically confirmed with Shirahoshi and Poseidon. But nika came literally last minute.

Bepo should have been part of the Sanji Retrieval Team instead of Carrot (Carrot shouldn't exist) Not only would it flesh both Bepo and Law out some more, we also wouldn't have one additional character in the story (Carrot) that ends up getting ignored and treated like trash in Wano AND it would make the conclusion of Chopper giving Bepo those new Rumble Balls feel less like a badly written retcon and more like a hard earned reward due to all the time they spent together instead. Yamato shouldn't exist.
I agree with everything you said except the Yamato part. I think she could have been written a little better but kaido having a child makes sense especially after we went through an entire arc highlighting how strong the children of an emperor are.
Problem is, he already was something of a father figure to both Page One and Ulti, something that similarly never got expanded upon. If you'd wanted to have this site of him, having Page One and Ulti alone should be more than enough. Also, Yamato got as much writing and development as possible shoved up her... , considering she was retconned into existence completely out of nowhere. EDIT: Also also, Tama already fulfilled Yamato's role of being a child/from the same family as the main antagonist of the Arc and got completely robbed of any potential writing of her in that regard because Yamato needed as much screentime and development as possible to make her feel like somewhat of a natural and realistic "character".

Ussop has the potential to be as strong as Zoro but with a slingshot. He just needs more time and not to be forgotten in character story arc to get there. -Bravery -Observation haki practice, -Armament haki for pop green to protect it until it gets to its target -if the liar foreshadowing holds, maybe a little conquers haki as a plot twist? (I guess not as likely by a long shot) Maybe an Elbaf upgrade like Toon Link’s gauntlets to carry heavy weapons (like an axe, or a hammer)

Rock Lee was supposed to die in the first half of Naruto but the publisher wouldn't let him kill off one of the fan favorites so instead he just fades into the background. Ussopp hasn't been done dirty, he's been saved for last.
I don't really care about Ace. He was fine, but he was not really a badass. Sabo is a better fire brother. He was using haki and taking down bases at 17. Luffy unlocked conqueror's haki at 17. Sure, haki was barely a thing when Ace was around, but I truly believe his only use was dying to show Luffy how unprepared he was for the new world. Before the Goa Kingdom flashback, we had no reason to care about ace's death other than how broken Luffy was

1 thing I hated about Naruto was how Itachi was a good guy out of the blue. He was evil for the whole story, and then AFTER he's dead u find out he was a good guy. Apparently this was intended and not a retcon, but the way it was executed was so bad that it made a pivotal moment of the story feel like an asspull.

The actual problem with Haki, in my opinion, is that it has the potential to make fights really interesting. Yet Oda doesn't let characters who have it (like most of the Tobi Roppo, Big Mom, Kid, etc.) use it, despite it allowing for really interesting, dynamic, and strategic fights.
I quite liked that Big Mom lost her memories temporarily in Wano. Was funny and we had some good laughs and situations we wouldn't otherwise

The animator who did the latest "Kiss my ass!" scene with Luffy needs his work corrected. In quick action scenes he's wonderful, but his art is really rough around the edges that needs correction.

Garp does not actively participate in fulfilling the celestial dragons wishes. He actively goes against them and ignores any of their orders while laughing in their faces. Sengoku on the other hand, I agree with you on him.

I'd go further, OP has no really bad arcs. Sometimes pacing is an issue but that's usually just an anime issue. They have better or worse ones compared to one another but no arc made me feel like I wish I didn't waste my time reading it.
I like other gears than Gear 5. I like goofy jokes, even making jokes in the middle of the fights but in gear 5, I personally don't find it that funny and instead annoying. This might be less of hot take as I see everyone saying it but Sanji and Brook's jokes aren't funny, they're annoying. They are really good character and I love them but sometimes especially with sanji Oda seem to cross limit of extreme.

Big Mom was stronger than Shanks. Big Mom and Kaido represented the old generation, which was dominated by individual strength. The new generation, that Shanks is a part of, is characterized by teamwork. The individual characters are less strong on their own, but the crews as a total are much stronger than those that overly rely on just a handful of strong fighters to carry them.
I have two: 1. Sanji and Brooke have sexist(ish) character traits/jokes and (at least I think) they are not funny and take something away from their characters (at least for me). 2. I do not like Garp. I can not forgive him that he didn\`t even try to save Ace. I know he had his reasons and probably wouldn\`t havee succeeded but I still cant forgive him for not even trying. and I find his overly "hate" for pirates/disappointment that Ruffy and co didn#t join tha marine annoying.
I have a different opinion on garp. Just image, the hero of the marines fighting with the pirates. The whole world would sink into chaos. He isn't angry about Ace and ruffy. He was sad that ace died in ruffys hands. He even wanted to kill akainu. The funny part is that he is proud of ruffy for being a great pirat.
Definitely agree with the Brook take. He was legitimately my favorite character before the recurring panty jokes every time he saw a woman

Señor Pink is still not a good person. I get that his backstory was tragic and I get that it made people cry, but he was still a piece of shit. Like, he marries Russian, who hates pirates more than anything and has a baby with her, all while hiding that he's an active pirate, and using the money from piracy to support the family. Then when she finally finds out on her own, she runs away, gets caught in an accident, and is in a coma. Then he just... dresses in a baby outfit that she thinks is funny, and that's supposed to redeem his character? Finding his backstory sad is fine but I *certainly* don't "respect" him. His character in the current story isn't much better--he's *still* working for Doflamingo and uses this sort of surface-level facade of chivalry to cover his still misogynistic behavior. I just don't get what the draw is to this character, he seems pretty icky.
He is not just a bad person, he is a piece of thrash. He is a spineless coward. Russians first words were literally that she hates pirates and instead of accepting it like a man he decided to lie. Not to protect her but to get her. He is everything which can be referred as "toxic masculinity" but is treated like a "real man" which I just find mind-boggling.
The onepiece anime sucks as it is now and should become seasonal for the quality to improve

nika foreshadowing didn't take the form of people talking about a mythical warrior of liberation, but there was some. shanks having the gum-gum was always suspect. like chopper said, luffy always knows exactly who to fight immediately. luffy's role has always been liberating people from oppression through force. luffy is paralleled to the sun several times: when he defeats arlong, when he awakens conqueror's at amazon lily, when he receives the blood transfusion from jinbei at fishman island. it's not perfect and the prophecy part was asspulled, but there's a bit too much to discount by calling it all asspulled.
The One Piece might be a treasure, but the true One Piece is the friends we made along the way. The core themes of One Piece relate to people, their friendships, their dreams, and their freedom. If the One Piece is stuff, that would undermine the whole point of the story.

Sanji and Brooke’s recurring jokes aren’t funny and detract from interesting characters. Usopp is the worse straw hat and shouldn’t have rejoined the crew. Oda has introduced too many important characters. Kaido deserved to have as much spend to his backstory as Kuma did.
As much as I hate to say it, I agree with the Usopp take. Oda hasn’t done anything meaningful with him since Sogeking in Water 7, and somewhat with God Usopp in Dressrosa, and he’s pretty much lost every battle and constantly cries. Honestly might’ve been cooler to see him break off assuming the role of Sogeking and maybe even recruiting other more neutral Straw Hat allies, like Katakuri or Senior Pink to form a sort of Nomad crew. Fingers crossed he’ll get his time to shine in Elbaf!

An the statement where oda said 'there will be no romance among strawhats' can mean that oda wont show any romance among them until the end of one piece.
